⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
5 stars.

➕ What I liked :

Curvy/full-figured heroine. 👍

A confident curvy/full-figured heroine.👏👍

When the heroines body type/body size/shape is mentioned in any way it is either done so in a neutral way or more often in a positive or good way.
There is No inferiority complex and no negative comparison to other women.👍

A strong and dominant heroine (in more ways than one.)
(Stands up for herself and the ones she cares for and loves, and does not put up with fools or disrespect … etc.)

Heroine puts her mother-in law in her place.
( When her mother-in law has issues among other things about Lady Arabella and Lord Neville not wanting children)

Older main characters.👍👏

“Older” heroine (30)

Older heroes (40 & 45)

Submissive heroes /Dominant Heroine.
(Lighter Dom/Sub)

Good steam.

The banter.

Some funny moments.

Some sweet moments.

Good chemistry and romantic build up.

Intriguing and interesting characters.

Good and interesting plot.

No pregnancy or babies at the end of the book.
(And the only discussion the main characters had about kids was that they were adamant and sure that they did Not want any children of their own… but there are kids in the book …. Lady Arabella and Lord Neville are a uncle and aunt and they are somewhat involved in that kids life.
Edmund/Duke of Stanforth also has a 18 year old daughter and 10 year old son.)

Having a curvy/full-figured model on the cover. 👍
(Good representation.)

➖ What I disliked:

The book-cover has good representation and that is always a great and good thing.
But the book-cover seems and looks a little like a afterthought…especially if you compare the book-cover to this book to the other book-covers in this series (Regency Menage Series) but also almost all other book-covers from this author.

It would have been nice to have a little more variation to the heroes.. because they are rather formulaic in their character description/visual appearance/character choice.
(They are both tall, handsome/very handsome and muscular.)
So it would have been nice if there was more variation to them than their different ages and hair color and eye color etc.
Maybe have one of them be a little more unconventional…like maybe a lanky hero or shorter hero or chubby hero.

➡️But none of these things I did not like about the book takes away from that this is a good story with interesting characters.
So even with these things I did not like… the book/story is still a 5 star read.

Historical erotic romance at it’s best

A Lady, Her Lord, & Their Duke is the third book in the Regency Ménage series.

This one had everything that I want in historical erotic romance. This is the second fem domme I’ve read this month and enjoyed how the nuances of their relationship were written thoughtfully.

I loved Arabella and Nev - they’re both secure in who they are and the choices they’ve made for their lives. Arabella is from the merchant class but her dowry helped sure up Nev’s barony and allows him to give speeches in Parliament and in the streets for political causes. They both don’t want children and enjoy showering their nephew and heir with love and affection.

It’s a chance encounter that leads to Edmund entering their life and having them all wonder if they should adjust their relationship. I liked Edmund also and the dynamic he brought. He’s opposite of Nev and Arabella in that he’s only ever engaged in the act with procreation being the focal point. So it’s not only a bi-awakening for Edmund but the liberation of shedding expectations.

There’s so many things in this story that I loved. Arabella and Nev both have their own love languages and I liked how it plays into the story. They are also open and honest with one another on not having children. They’re on the same page and have each other’s backs when people try to interfere in their lives. But I also really enjoyed Edmund being a single dad and as he navigated having an older daughter ready to marry and repairing the relationship with his younger son.

The whole story was heartwarming and is guaranteed to keep you warm while reading it.

There are four encounters that include discipline and toys. Scenes involve F/M, FMM, and MM combos.

3 “Could have been hotter” stars

I’m embarrassed to say that it took me three days to read a novella, but this story just didn’t pull me in at all. It felt like Nicola Davidson may have loved the fabrics and research into historical toys more than the characters.

✔️ Triple POVs (Edmund x Nev x Arabella)
✔️ Set in regency London
✔️ WAY open-door historical romance (5/5🌶️)
✔️ Tropes: Ménage romance

A very Nicola premise, with very Nicola characters, and very Nicola 🔥!

Plus it’s got class differences, it’s both body and enthusiastic consent positive, and stars a FemmeDom (merchant class) and her 2 devoted subs (aristos).

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY writes historical erotica like Nicola Davidson! When she announced this third installment of her Regency Menage series and I saw that we'd get a plus size, femme dom heroine, I was ecstatic.

Lady Arabella Carlisle and Lord Neville Carlisle are celebrating ten years of marriage with a visit to Sanctuary, an elite pleasure club where they occasionally play with other partners who submit to Arabella just as Neville loves to. This time though, both Ara and Nev catch feelings for the affection starved duke, Edmund Vane. While the sentiments are returned, the duke is terrified of the power this gives the couple over him.

This, like all of Davidson's works, was insanely hot. I adored Arabella and Neville's relationship and their decision to remain child free. Neville was my favorite hero, absolutely secure in his submissive nature and happy to have Arabella take the lead in and out of their bedroom. I cannot recommend this one enough!

D-f/s-m/s-m - MFM with minor MM

Experienced couple on their 10th wedding anniversary invites a lonely Duke to join in their fun. He's only had relations for procreation, wife dead x 6 years. He is very touch starved and raised to be a cold Duke.

They introduce him to the submissive life, under F, with M1 (husband) as example and assistant to her in M2's education.

Side plot: each of the M's heirs are new at Eton and become friends. FMC helps restore relationship between M2 and his son.

Side plot: M1 is an abolitionist politician. M2's daughter becomes betrothed to one of M1's contemporaries.

It was a cute, quick read. Didn't quite scratch the itch. It was well developed and well written, imo.

I thought this was the weakest of the three in the series. I liked that the Duke found love and sexual fulfillment. I thought it was sweet that the Duke's son and Lord Carlisle's heir were friends at Eton. They could also support each other through the scandalous relationship of the Vane-Carlisles.

I didn't feel compelled to like or admire Arabella. Descriptions of her were either lacking or not connecting with me. There's a lot packed in this novella so I give credit to Nicola Davidson for writing a better than average story. Explicit descriptions of intimacy kinda lacked sensual foreplay. I could have used more passionate kissing and cuddling. For a threesome this is a 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Fun but wasn’t my favorite - then again, not about anything that remotely does it for me. That being said I enjoy(ed?) this series and this author is sooo fun if you want a spicy historical novella. Her characters from what I’ve read are always queer and/or kinky and/or poly and it’s just fun to read something different. As always, there’s a nice emotional story as well, though things feel resolved a little too easily.

Wow!

What a sweet and scorching read. I loved the characters and even the side characters. Ara, Nev, and Edmund are so intense, complex characters who find themselves with the love and support of each other. Nicola Davidson is one of my favorites and this was definitely
a great read!

A woman in charge

Absolutely perfect. I love the woman in charge of two men and them both lapping up every bit of it with relish. The romance was hot and the sex was hotter. Could have been a bit longer with more exploring the backstory but thoroughly enjoyed it.

Stars: 5 Stars
Format: Digital
Series: Regency Ménage Book 3
Steam Level: Steamy

I had preordered this book as soon as the listing went up and I freely admit that it took me so long to finally get to it because I didn’t want this lovely series to end.

Quick Thoughts:
- Just like the previous two books, this is a MMF romance
- Hallelujah! A happily married couple who absolutely do not want kids and no one has a snowball’s chance in hell of convincing them otherwise! And they stay that way! Yay!
- Nicola Davidson writes such wickedly hot dommes
- I don’t know how she writes such beautifully broken Heroes and their perfect person so convincingly when with other authors it can feel very fake
- There is something about a protagonist who suddenly realizes that they are making the same toxic mistakes their parents did and not only acknowledges it but also apologizes and changes the behavior, that hits me hard in the feels
- The sex scenes are numerous and gloriously hot
- I love that how each person shows affection differently AND the characters acknowledge that fact
- It’s always wonderful to see “unconventional” relationships receive support from the people in their lives that matter most
- There were a few people I wanted to kick. I hope they end up bored out of their skulls for the rest of their lives
- No third act break up!
- That epilogue was a perfect way to end this book

Overall I loved this book and it’s probably my favorite of the series, and I utterly adored the other two books. I have yet to read a Nicola Davidson book I didn’t like. I highly recommend any of her books, just pick one at random and you won’t be disappointed.

I love the simplicity of this series. A declaration of loving who you want, how you want, unapologetically.

Surprisingly, I would have enjoyed more spice. The scenes were a little simple, compared to the others.
