I didn't like Maisie all that much to be honest. She would get mad at the littlest things and for what to drop it two seconds later after a look or a touch from Jesse? Stupid.

Tiffany was unnecessary she added so much drama that when it came to a head it was over in like 2 chapters what a waste.

Jesse wasn't really my cup of hero tea either. He went from manwhore to she's THE ONE in 5 sentences. I'm not a stranger to instalove but I mean he was supposed to have all these commitment issues meanwhile he jumped right on that relationship bandwagon.

The whole Drew, Brandon, Maisie, Anna & Jesse scene ended so ridiculous. It pissed me off big time.

I mean what the fuck there was a part that was more or less glossed over. Uhh... I would think that would be a big fucking issue with her, no? Trust issues my ass id be like

I guess I wasn't so much a fan of this book. If you couldn't tell from my negative rant.

The sex gave it 2 stars. Even that wasn't so fantastic.

Hey some books aren't for everyone. That's not to say you will not like this book just because I do not.

Even though the book was about Maisie and Jesse I kinda need to demand that a book be written for Chloe and Jake, because in all honesty I was more interested in what was going on with them than Maisie and Jesse. Don't get me wrong I loved reading the book, I was just more into the secondary characters. Jesse he is just so damn cocky, "Maisie, you can let go now. We're here," Jesse says, smiling at me over his shoulder. God, his smile is so beautiful. After I unwrap my arms from around his torso, I jump off the motorbike and unclasp the helmet. "What's with the sad face? You'll be able to put your arms back around me in a few hours. Don't worry, darling." He's also completely honest when it comes to his feelings for his girl, "no, baby, you've done nothing wrong. If I look at you right now, we will never leave this room. I will eff you all night long, until you can't walk anymore. That, baby, is the reason I can't look at you right now. I'll see you downstairs. I need something to take my mind off my dirty thoughts right now. Maybe cutting some vegetables will help." As I said I enjoyed reading this book I just want Jake and Chloe's more.

What a great story!!

I loved this book! Maisie and Jessie are amazing together. Part of the reason why they are so amazing is because they are completely different from each other and a pair that you would never expect to get together.

Maisie had a bad breakup and is not ready to meet someone new. Jessie is constantly meeting someone new. When the two meet, they realize they have feelings for each other but try to fight it. Fortunately for the reader, they give into these feelings.

The story not only develops their relationship but we also have a side story between Maisie’s best friend and her brother. This storyline kept popping in and out of the main story. It was done flawlessly.

I did not want to put this book down once I started and when I finished, the story stayed with me.

Just when I though I figured out where the ending was heading, there was a huge twist in the plot. There was no hint what so ever so it was a totally awesome surprise.

The author was able to take a love story and throw a twist into it while keeping the story flowing. Amazing! I highly recommend this book. Once you are finished, you can go right into book 2 – Freedom!

Good read

I liked this book. There was a time when I wanted to punch Jesse in the face myself. But I ready to read the second book to see what happens with her friend Chloe.

This is a story about a girl named Maisie. Maisie has dated the same boy for 4 years, his name is Matt. She attends a party at his house with her friend Chloe. She can’t find him right so she asks one of his friends. She goes to find him and when she does he isn’t alone. He is cheating on her with the schools biggest slut. She is done with him. He tries to explain but she doesn’t want to hear it. 3 months later she leaves for college. Her best friend is going to be her room mate. She is going to focus on school and forget all about boys. When she gets there she literally bumps into a guy named Jesse. He winks at her and walks away. Later he bumps into her again at the coffee shop and spills her drink all over her shirt. So she does what anyone would do. Yell at him. Jesse is completely confused by her. There is just something about her. He doesn’t do girlfriends just bed buddies. But, he wants more with her. The next day he realizes she is in her English class and sits down next her. Maisie knows with one look that if she gets involved with him it will only end badly for her. So see comes to class right on time to avoid having to sit next to him for the next two weeks. Finally she talks to Chloe about him. Chloe tells her to give him a chance and see where it goes. She can always just be friends with him. So she does. He takes her to the zoo as just friends. She has a fantastic time with him there and she finds her self wanting to be more than friends with him. He asks her to attend his soccer game on Friday she agrees. Jesse used to her a girl he went to offer for his needs. She is mad that he no longer wants her since he has found Maisie. She has already told Maisie to stay away from Jesse. So when Maisie goes to the game to watch Jesse play Tyffani decides she needs to step up her game. She threatens to tell everyone that Maisie is a slut and because she is more popular everyone will believe her. Maisie agrees to stay away from Jesse and leaves the game. Jesse comes to find her after the game and wont leave until he finds out why she left the game. She tells him what happen and that she really likes him. He feels the same way and agree to date and not be told what to do by others. Jesse talks to Tyffani to leave Maisie alone or he will destroy her. They have been successfully dating for a week before she meets his mom. His mom loves Maisie immediately. Jesse has a demons that he is afraid will surface and mess up his relationship with Maisie. Will they or is he just being insecure? Will Maisie’s heart be broken again? Will Tyffani leave them alone or plan in secret?

This book is fantastic. I absolutely loved it from the beginning. I love how Jesse brought Maisie back to the living. He helped her brake down her wall. He loves her so much. All he wants is for her to be happy, love, and protect her. Maisie is a fantastic girl. She is just sacred of getting hurt again. Once she decides to try she learns that Jesse is amazing and how it truly feels to be loved. This book was so emotional and amazing. I can’t say enough about this story. There is so much I could say but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. The book is very well written. I have a new book boyfriend. Again this book is fantastic.

I was given this book as a gift in return for an honest review.

Maisie Peterson thought her life was perfect. And Jesse Cohen has demons. That’s all I’ll give you to start…..

*************
Whenever I review a book, I do not read the synopsis. I want to go into reading a book with a clear head so I am not anticipating something to happen and then getting upset when what I thought was going to happen doesn’t. In the beginning of this book I thought it was going to be another story of a woman scorned. After reading further I noticed that although Maisie might carry those feelings with her, it is a story of a new, intense love.

Jesse is the bad boy that parties, drinks and beds a different woman every night. He is cocky and KNOWS that all women can’t resist him. He isn’t exactly what Maisie is looking for but she can’t fight her feelings for him, no matter how hard she tries. They have an instant connection, and we see that Maisie actually makes Jesse want to be a better person.

The author did a great job incorporating a back story for Jesse. We want to know why he is the way he is and we get a glimpse of that when we meet his father. The one man he is terrified of becoming. We instantly hate him when we meet him and are pulling for Jesse to be a better man.

I was SHOCKED with how the author twisted this story. I really enjoyed the change of pace in the story. I was definitely not expecting it to go in the direction that it went in.

I can go on and on about this book, but I will leave the rest for you to find out for yourself. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a suspenseful love story. I can’t wait to read the other books in this series.

This is a fantastic debut novel from Beth Maria! The book opens with Maisie catching her high school boyfriend, Matt cheating on her at a party. She walks away from him and vows to herself to never get hurt like that again. Her best friend Chloe and her brother Jake are at odds with each other but Maisie is oblivious to the reason why. She and Chloe head to college and are roommates. College starts off with Maisie “bumping” into Jesse. Jesse is known through the school as kind of a man-whore and all the ladies find him irresistible. Jesse is the quarterback for the school football team and now that he has seen Maisie he can’t get her off of his mind. Tiffany is the classic blonde diva that is obsessed with Jesse and thinks he should be with her. Jesse has decided that Maisie is something special though and stops his bad-boy behavior just for her. The plot has a few twists and turns as we learn more about Jesse and his parents and also some hints about what may have gone on between Chloe and Jake. Maisie is a surprisingly strong young woman and I appreciated that the author focused on making her strong and likeable. The author writes this coming of age story with a clear sense of leading the reader to a dark event. I found the characters to be relatable and realistic. It is well written and the dialogue between all the characters is amusing. I liked that the plot kept moving and didn’t seem to stall at any point. I am interested to see what happens next with all the characters.

This book did all the things I love about a new adult novel. It grabbed my attention from the get go, it had likable and note worthy characters and it had an amazing story line.
I was wrapped up in this book for a few days pretty much non-stop. I was in love with Jesse the male protagonist as he was a bad boy that was mistreated by his father and all he really wanted was to have fun and be with tons of girl. However, he never anticipated Maisie grabbing his hear.
Maisie couldn't wait to go to college and forget all about her cheating boyfriend, Matt. She was determined to concentrate on her studies and not date, like at all. What was the point when she only ended up broken hearted.
She never thought that Jesse, the typical bad boy would grab her heart.
Told from both Jesse and Maisie's point of view, this story delves into what it is like to try again after getting your heart broken. Although some of the story is typical of the new adult genre, the story was nothing but beautiful and well written. This author doesn't take any short cuts to entice the reader. She even takes some chances with the story, that will probably make you mad. Hold on though, because just as you think things are starting to slow down to the happily ever after, the author takes a HUGE side step and surprises you.
Such a great and intense read, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys new adult fiction.

For a debut novel I was extremely impressed with the writing skills of Beth Maria. And I know after reading this that I would want to read any future books by her and indeed I can see her writing career being extremely successful.

If you enjoy YA/NA college reads then this book will sate your appetites for colourful characters, very visual and a plot line that yes ok has been done before but Beth delivers it so well that it really doesn't matter.

This is all about girl meets boy, boy cheats on girl and then girl is scarred for future relationships. So when she meets star footballer Jesse, her mind tells her to run a mile, her body tells her - get over it and get in there! So then that bring us to the obstacles that Jesse and Maisie are going to have to face and overcome to reach their hopeful happy ending (I'm not ruining it for you, you'll have to read it to find out what they are and if they get their HEA!)

All in all this is an enjoyable romp into college and student life and again I cannot fault how Beth wrote this. I would definitely recommend this to any person who enjoys this genre and this kinda storyline.

Some people have and past, and some people have demons they feel like they can't escape from. Maisie and Jesse are both trying to escape from theirs! Maisie had everything she wanted. The most popular boy in school is her boyfriend and has been for the past four years. Only Maisie's world is shattered when she walk in on her boyfriend cheating on her! Leaving her past behind Maisie leaves for college with her best friend Chloe for a fresh start.
Jesse is the captain of the football, he doesn't do relationships! The scares of an alcoholic father have caused him to never want to be in a relationship! Jesse has a reputation for sleeping around and never commits to a relationship! Until he meets Maisie! They begin a relationship and fall head over heels for each other. But there are people who don't want to see them happy. Maisie's ex-boyfriend and Jesse's on and off again fling team up to break them apart! Watch the twists and turns unfold. Will Jesse be able fight his own demons to save Maisie and will they find the happiness they deserve! Four stars for me!

Mending a broken heart...

Maisie and Matt are high school sweethearts..Matt is the typical jock and Maisie views herself as just the girl next door...She's in love with him and thinking he feels the same way, until she catches him at a party in a comprising position...She walks out ending their 4year relationship..Chloe is Masie's best friend who is in love with Masie's brother Jake....After months of living with heartbreak it's time for a new start,so she heads off to college for her freshman year with her best friend Chloe.. Jesse Cohen is your typical college football star with demons he keeps at bay by sleeping with a lot of different girls, until he spots Maisie moving into the dorms...Maisie is there to get her education and nothing else until she literally bumps into Jesse, and Jesse is there just to play Football and take care of his mom, that is until he meets her... This is a good college romance with some suspense, Maisie did at times grate on my nerves but I did enjoy it...Looking forward to reading the next book...

I was really brought into this book by the cover, so I had high hopes that I would love it. Buut, I didn’t it.
Strong storyline. Very quick romance. I mean they fell in love after being in a relationship for only a week? Bit quick for me. One thing I really don’t like is ‘insta-loves’ and this book definitely had that. It made cringe at times, mainly because I’m not into mushy stuff between characters that meet after a week, so maybe I’m biased here.
I didn’t really get the whole ‘I’m broken, don’t love me’ thing, because they didn’t really seem that broken to me, so that annoyed me. If anything Chloe seemed more broken and she wasn’t even in the book much.
Tiffany and Matt, wow, were they riding the crazy train? And it would seem that Drew was the train conductor. Shame Jesse didn’t actually finish him off…

All in all though, the book had its moments of dark and equal parts light. The relationship between Jesse and Maisie was cute, even though it developed quite quickly. So 3 stars from me.

Hot
Sexy
Entertaining!

I loved this book the characters were amazingly written.

It reeled me in from the first few pages and I devoured it within a few hours!!

Jesse, where to start mmm. Hot, sexy, tall, mysterious. Oh yea my kind of man. He was sweet caring considerate and I just loved him! Helped because he was a alpha male to! So I was completely sold!!

Maisie, she was loveable felt a connection with her straight away, she was so strong but underneath she was broken. Maisie had a perfect life until one night it all came crashing down on here, my heart ached for her.

As you know in my reviews I don't go into detail with describing the book.

All I will say is JESSE is in My top 5 BBF!

This is a definite must read, and I will be reading more from this author, the book is beautifully written congratulations!

This is a MUST read. Can't wait for book two!

Maisie Peterson had the perfect boyfriend or so she thought. She caught Matt with another girl even tho they had been together for four years. Maisie was heart broken and she slipped into a dark place where she didn't any men. On her first day of college shes meets Jesse Cohen. Jesse takes an instant liking to Maisie and really wants to get to know her but Maisie was resisting his charms but after realizing that Jesse generally do care for her she decides to give him a chance. Jesse's ex don't like the fact that Jesse found someone who he wants to be with and hatches a plan with Maisie's ex to get them back.

This book has loads of twists and turns. I really liked how the book had different POV's. Would love to find out what was going on between Chloe and Jake? Really good book!!

I loved this story, beautifully written and and a truly amazing story.

I fell in love with Maisie and HOT DAMN Jesse... Can I have him?

The twists and turns kept me captivated and I couldn't put it down out of fear I might lose something.
My only critique, I wanted more! It was a bitter sweet moment when I read those two little words, 'The End', but I was so happy with how Beth had finished their story. It was sheer perfection, and nothing less.

I can't wait to read more from this author.

3.5 rating.
The story was okay for me. There was a lot of potential but it didn't quite deliver for me. The love story happened too quickly for me to really believe that they loved each other. That being said I did enjoy Jesse's character and his sweetness.
I think the ending could have been more dramatic and maybe even a little action packed. I would have loved to see the stakes raised higher with that.
I wanted to love the story but I found myself bored at times. Maybe I was just hoping for more something to happen but it never did.

I feel like I'm being generous with 2 stars the book was so predictable no excitement and did anyone else get the fact that she said she was with her first boyfriend since she was 13 and had, had sex with one other person before him?? So she had sex at 12 I don't think that was right. I'm not being rude to the author because I get were what she was trying to go with the story, but Maisie was over dramatic about everything and both characters were meant to come across broken but they weren't really, everything also happens really fast.... Sorry but really only a 1.5

For a debut novel, I thought it was pretty good. I was able to get into the story and feel what the characters were feeling. However, I feel this book could benefit from another pass of editing. I developed a bit of an eye twitch from some of the errors and repeated word usage. The other issue I had are with the characters themselves. Maisie would go from immature teenager to a strong spirited woman and Jesse could turn into an insecure toddler in seconds.

When Maisie catches her high school sweetheart cheating on her, she thinks her world has been turned upside down. Leaving her home town for college is where she meets Jessie. Herr kind of comes flying into her life, neither wanting a relationship, both trying to get over their pasts.
They can be a bit sickly sweet at times, but generally I loved them both. A really good debut novel from Beth Maria and I can’t wait to read more of her work.

First of all, the language and wording in this made me cringe. When the hero is riding a Ducati, it's not a motorbike! It's a motorcycle! Secondly, if I had to read about Maisie getting a "stitch" one more time, I was seriously done with this book. Lastly, a football game is just that, a GAME, not a match.

My next issue was Maisie's constant crying and whining.

Then when Jesse and Maisie have sex in his mother's house, she is screaming stuff out? Yeah not a turn on for me. Just Blah!

3.5 stars. This is a pretty good debut novel I did enjoy it I just had a few issues at times that I couldn't get by! Maisie was a problem for me at times she would get so mad about stupid little things and it was quite immature the way the characters acted at stages through the story.
