Remember James from when we were a kid? That sexy, rich, thirty-something year old guy who moved in and could afford anything he wanted? Yeah. Me too. I was in his penthouse last night.
This is part 1 of The Billionaire's New Toy: 1. Summoned: For His Pleasure 2. Forced: To Enjoy 3. Used: To Satisfy
Tanya Colt is the pen name of a successfully published author who would rather remain anonymous while writing erotica. Her writing style is that of an accomplished writer, be prepared for some steamy hot descriptions!
Ideal for readers seeking a playful, indulgent escape into a steamy dynamic between a relatable protagonist and a wealthy, commanding love interest.
I read this book on my Kindle. This was a reread for me and I liked it the first time I read it but I never continued with this series until now. After rereading this book, I have a different opinion now. I thought this book was just okay but the sex scenes didn’t do anything for me and I didn’t like the billionaire in this series.
I am one of those that believe in honest reviews and I admire anyone who takes the time to put pen to paper. This book didn't really do it for me. I like the fantasy world that a book takes you to and the journey is half the attraction. For me, this book failed to take the scenic route.
This is the story of Cheryl and James. Cheryl and her 2 friends decide to take a relaxing weekend trip before finals. There are the hotel she runs into James. They used to live on the same neighborhood when she was a kid. He ended up moving away and she had not seen or heard of him since. When realizing who she was, he treats her and her friends to an extravagant dinner, shopping spree, and after dinner helicopter ride. He even gets them separate rooms. Cheryl is later invited to his room for a late night talk about the old neighborhood and what's been going on in their lives. It leads up to them having sex. It was a typical story. Nothing exciting about it.
I am not into stories where there is a big age difference between the characters. James is 20 years older than Cheryl. So that fact disconnected me from the story and how they reacted to each other. In my opinion, it was shameful in the way he was coming on to her and how she was flirting with him.
The sexual connection between them was not there. She pretended as though she would not have sex with him, like it was not a possibility. But before she goes to his suite she washes up???!!! If a girl does that then she wants to and is planning on doing something. The things James does to her disgusted me. If a younger college guy did that, she would have been highly upset. She was willing to accept that from him due to the fact that she had a handsome, older gentleman with money interested in her. It almost seemed as though he was taking advantage of her. She seemed more of a booty call. She would have accepted anything from him. I did not have the urge to read the next installment. I would not recommend this.
I do A LOT of reading (up to two books a day, 275 - 300 pages per book), and have been reading for decades. So, I have a lot of experience to draw from as I evaluate books. My first impression was that, somewhere in the Midwest, a fifteen-year-old girl was penning what she thought was a dirty book. Full of typos, egregious grammatical errors, and with no writing technique whatsoever, I couldn't take it seriously. If this was professionally edited and published and is not just a self published book by someone with no education on writing, then I'm appalled! If there is an editor, she or he needs to be fired! I can't imagine how someone who knows nothing about structuring a book and has no grasp on writing technique could've landed a book deal! I have to believe this is self published. But I digress.
The story, and I use that term very lightly, does a lot of telling, not showing: a big no-no for actual authors. The sexual parts are rushed, and sound like the author has no idea what she's talking about! I literally laughed as I read it. No one with any knowledge or experience in the world of BDSM would write such drivel! I'd suggest doing what real authors do and research your topic (for more than five minutes on Google or a quick read through Quora answers) before attempting to write anything, but particularly this genre.
For people who know nothing about writing and definitely nothing about actual BDSM, I suppose it could be passable if you're too drunk or high to really know better. But for any reasonably intelligent person, this reads like a teenager's fan fiction rather than an actual novel. It was free and I still feel ripped off! Hard pass; don't waste your time!
Nothing in this book is hot or remotely sexy. Its even worse than Fifty Shades and I loathed that book. One, she's a kid, barely legal, and he's old enough to be her father. Two, no one on earth would love sex that rough on the first night. Edge play, face humping, deep throat, tied up then made to squirt all in the same scene and just after the meeting someone. Three, good thing he's rich cause if he wasn't it'd be an episode of Criminal Minds not a fantasy. Four, in no way is this a fantasy.
I can honestly state there is no possibility of revealing plot spoilers because there is no plotline to reveal. It's a dirty fantasy with poor grammar and editing issues (they made quiet a trio???) It takes about five minutes to read. It reads as if a teenager had penned a daydream. There is no character development whatsoever and I understand that it's difficult to provide a decent character with only a few pages but this short story doesn't even try.
Did I run when it was compared to 50 SOG? I should have. No. Just no. I thought the fans who dawned would not let me down. Just an artless Dom wannabe with a 19 year old girl
Growing up you always have an set guy crush. James was Cheryl's. When he moved OK what ever. But once in college he came back. And the crush turned to reality
