When a rogue agent targets Group Fifteen for revenge, Charlie Cooper must use all his skills to survive.

After barely escaping an assassination attempt in Iceland, NORTH STAR, a former Group Fifteen operative turned Russian asset, vanishes. Driven by guilt and a thirst for revenge, Control tasks Charlie Cooper with tracking him down.

A risky move reveals NORTH STAR's hiding place in Cyprus, but he has transformed his secluded property into an impenetrable fortress, forcing Cooper and Control to use unorthodox means to infiltrate his world and expose his weaknesses.

As the lines between hunter and hunted blur, Cooper finds himself caught in a web of betrayal, manipulation, and deadly secrets. Will he be able to outmanoeuvre NORTH STAR before it's too late, or will the hunter become the hunted?

Mark Dawson was born in Lowestoft and grew up in Manchester and Chicago. He has worked as a lawyer and currently works in the London film industry. His first books, "The Art of Falling Apart" and "Subpoena Colada" have been published in multiple languages.

He is currently writing two series. Soho Noir is set in the West End of London between 1940 and 1970. The first book in the series, "The Black Mile", deals with the (real life but little known) serial killer who operated in the area during the Blitz. "The Imposter" traces the journey of a criminal family (think The Sopranos in austerity London and you'd be on the right track).

The John Milton series features a disgruntled special agent who aims to help people to make amends for the terrible things that he has done. Mark, as a child of the 80s, will freely admit that he watched a lot of The Equalizer in his youth.

Mark lives in Wiltshire with his family.

This book was a disappointment, not up to Dawson’s standards for his other books. None of the characters are relatable, and the plot was tedious. No more Charlie Cooper for me.

North Star: Cooper and Control Team Up to Collect the Price of Betrayal
4 / 5 ⭐️
The sixth Charlie Cooper novella is another thrilling adventure in the series. Cooper and Control teaming up to make North Star pay for the betrayal from the preceding book adds an intriguing dynamic to the plot. Their thoughts and motivations are thoughtfully and convincingly portrayed, which makes the story feel natural and the characters easy to connect with. However, Cooper himself doesn't shine as brightly and I found myself wishing to see more of his sharpness, focus, and capabilities. Anyways, this is a thrilling read and a great addition to the series!

Unputdownable, exciting!

The hunt for North Star was taking a long time, and Cooper was sent on many sightings that were unsuccessful. Cooper and Control were frustrated, but Control continued to send Cooper on wild goose chases. Cooper receives information about North Star and goes to Cyprus instead of New Zealand. Mark Dawson knows how to keep the reader's attention through all the twists and turns and surprises that happen along the way. I recommend this book. Happy reading! 😊

You Should Always Go Where The Boss Tells You

Charlie Cooper is ordered by Control to go to New Zealand to continue the search for North Star - A former Group Fifteen operative turned Russian asset. Cooper stops in Nicosia, Cyprus where he has reason to think that Dark Star will be. He starts looking around on the island, a bit worried that Control will be angry that he did not go where he was told.

Epic Conclusion of the last few Charlie Cooper Stories

Not the end of the series, just the conclusion of a story line. A world wide chase has brought Cooper following a lead to New Zealand, but having had another investigator look deeper, he made a decision that will clearly get him into deeper trouble with Control. One that terminates his position within the Group or one that simply just terminates...

This was another excellent Charlie Cooper chapter. Control and Cooper found Northstar and finished up the betrayal. Control exercised his revenge while also telling Cooper he is on his last chance with him. Do what your told or else. 10 stars plus !!!!! Thanks Carl Clause

How

How did they find me, is the question on North Stars lips. Control and the group aka Cooper have finally found him but what happens in the next few minutes could be the difference between life and death.

Do they Always get their man

Out to find the betrayed but control wants the lead, is Cooper in trouble and what mistakes have been made. A quick fix for the Cooper fans and well worth it

All that build up…

The whole book is building up to this big climax, which just doesn’t seem to happen.

There’s no big fight, no test of their skills, nothing. Feels a bit of a letdown and extremely anticlimactic.

Short but, a great read

I liked the addition of the character, Katie. They never see old ladies coming! Defeated by technology and good old intuition.

Short Story

This is more of a short story than a novel. It was entertaining, but overall felt a little light in character, development, and depth of story.

Well written but for me not as interesting and a bit simple compared to Mark's other characters and books. Did I miss something?

I liked it. It was a quick read and Dawson kept the suspense and action up. Not too many characters made it easy to understand. I recommend it.
