Fighting for Number 57

Rate this book
Once upon a time, there was a girl who thought all hockey players were gentlemen. They were respectful, they operated in a strict code of conduct. Their behavior was beyond reproach. Then, her big brother went to play hockey in college and she met his new teammates. They took her in and treated her like family, and she formed her own relationships with the men. They protected her, and enforced the one cardinal rule that stood out the You don't date or touch your teammates' sisters or exes. One man, in particular, got closer than the rest. And she learned that the rules can be bent.

Or broken.

Broken like glass ornaments, or promises, or hearts.

This is the story of a girl who learned that some hockey players are not as nice as her brother, and some hockey players are stupid, lying cheats.

I loved Sami and Kane's story. It's one that anyone who has lost a first love can relate to but this one has a happy ending. Sami and Kane made their way back to each other after several years apart. Honestly who doesn't love a good reunion story. Mixed with some forbidden love, accidental marriage, brother’s (ex)best friend and a possessive as fuck MMC.

Kane has no right sounding so sexy calling Sami his wife though...it did things to me 🤣

Overall though I loved every minute of this story. I love that Kane was able to grow up and do the things that needed to be done for not only Sami but Gabby as well. Redemption story at it's finest in my opinion. Kane not only fixed his relationship with Sami but he also managed to rebuild the friendship he lost with Elliot.

I am patiently impatiently waiting for the next book in this series 💙

im not really a big hockey romance fan but this book had me in a chokehold!!! i was immediately captivated by the story. Kane broke the number one rule of hockey.. sisters are off limits. he started something up with Sami and then left her heartbroken. 8 years later Sami having no other options goes to ask him for a favor while letting him know he has a daughter. well after a very drunken night they both wake up married. they decide to keep it secret but man do things start going wrong. Kane has some things/people from the past who prove to be harmful to sami.
this def ends in a HEA and i highly recommend it im already reaching for her other hockey romance book

If you read the first book, you're probably looking forward to this one. I loved the twists and Kane's character growth as well as Sami's strength. I'd been waiting to read this and was ecstatic to read it in it's Beta format. It was so good I had to read it again when it was released, and I don't often reread books. I highly recommend for the hockey romance lovers who want to see a bad boy turn mostly good.

Kane. F%$king. Blackwood
This man makes you want to hate him all while you want him.
Sami, the beautiful single mom that owns the heart of Kane, only she doesn't know it.
Can they come together to find happiness, or will Kane and Sami allow the past to destroy them?

So Good

I knew this book was going to be just as good as the first one and I was so right. If you like hockey romance you definitely need to read this book. You fall in love with these characters and you absolutely hate when the book ends.

Wow, does this couple face a lot! For a book of only 223 pages there is so much packed into it. It is definitely a must read for a hockey romance. You will totally enjoy Sami and Kane.

3.5⭐️ I enjoyed the plot and the tropes but everything felt too rushed, no first meeting with Kane and gabby, no explaining what happened to Kane after Sami left him with Francesca.

Page 137. The last paragraph is in Kane’s POV and he’s talking with Sami but it says “he nods” and “his water”. They are the only two in the room. So that needs editing to she and her.

Pg 190 the last paragraph it just cuts off. Says “and every” and then the next chapter. Like wtf 🤨🤨 If the first book was this poorly edited I wouldn’t have moved into this book. And honestly it’s killing the vibe for the next book.

Chapter 57 is in Kanes POV but on page 209 multiple mistakes.
“His head shakes”
No space between “Kane?You”
“He freezes” same line “he realizes what he just said”
“Cursing, he turns”
And that’s only about have the page 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m sure there is more that I’m not going to point out since I’m at work. I’ll just say this books NEEDS re edited!!! Such minor things the editor or even Alpha, Beta or ARC readers should have caught these and let the author know before putting these out for release. I know no one is perfect and typos happen. Heck I do them daily. But I know authors strive to put out their best work and it’s missed the mark here 😕
The very last page of the book it’s Sami’s POV but towards the end it says “‘Mrs. Blackwood,’ I whisper”, “by her ear”, “she replies”, “My beautiful Wife”

Storyline I loved it more than the first because I’m one of those who like OW drama. But the missed editing mistakes kill the vibe.

Spice is a zero.
