Davik of Darkshire thought he’d found peace in Oakshire—until a deadly mage shattered that calm. After racing for answers and finding none, the group tries to settle back into their routine at the tavern.
But as winter fades, secrets—both old and new—begin to surface. One of them belongs to Tyra.
Her faen birthright is being auctioned off in the shadows of an outlawed festival. Without it, she’ll never heal the wounds of her past or build the future she longs to create. The group knows the dangers that lie ahead in Hollyhead, but they can’t let Tyra face them alone.
As Davik helps Tyra prepare to confront her past, their connection deepens, pulling him into a struggle between friendship and something more. But their journey is fraught with risks.
Sariel dons the armor she swore to abandon, determined to protect them all. Elina pushes her divine powers to their limits, while Vorga understands that Tyra’s heritage holds the key to the closure she truly needs. Yet as they strive to stay united, Karley's growing distance leaves the group vulnerable to unseen dangers.
With the secret Floraison auction looming, Davik leads them into a land where Tyra once fled a life of serfdom—and where the fires of Rochdale, the city Davik failed to defend, still burn in his memory. Nobles in masks, forbidden wine, and old enemies lie in wait.
Magebreaker 2 is a fantasy adventure tale of desire, revelation, loyalty, and the fight to reclaim what was lost.
Another outstanding entry in the Magebreaker series. Everything I said about the first stands true for this one too. This series serves as a pinnacle, alongside The Celestine Chronicles by Cebelius, of quality writing in the men's romance genre.
Awesome continuation to the magebreaker series. Davik’s relationships grow stronger to those living in Oakshire. As I said in the first book, there’s such a depth to the relationships he forms and I loved seeing it here in book 2. The fighting scenes were pretty awesome AND gruesome too. Diggin’ it!
A fantastic continuation to one of the best books in this genre.
A fantastic continuation to one of the best books in this genre. This series is so incredibly well written with deep and real characters. Forget what genre this book is in, it’s great regardless. A wonderful story with flawed but likeable characters. The love and romance feel real and the character interactions are well written and keep you engaged. I hope to see more books in this genre.
The 2nd book is awful. I tried to finish but the numerous storylines were multiplying exponentially and I knew there was NO way to tie them up. Skipped to end to finish the last few chapters and they confirmed what I was feeling at the beginning of book 2, storylines that did not make sense and a finish that was not worth my time reading. Skip book 2 and based on that not really worth reading book 1.
The story itself was pretty good. I enjoy the characters and such, but there are several inconsistencies that kind of irritated me throughout the story.
Finally the “twist” ending and epilogue were just awful. I probably would have rated this a 4 or 5 star without those. Seriously ruined most of the enjoyment I got from the rest of the book.
A true MC of the grey not a white knight or a dark prince but the true grey as moat of us are!!! The author captures that mindset perfectly and the characters are believable and a joy to read about!!! I look forward to the next book in this series!!!
Mr Court has got me hooked. Magebreaker is both beautiful and vicious at the same time. The characters and their individual arcs are wonderfully written, and the love they feel for each other is palpable. Look forward to more Magebreaker
I enjoyed book 2 as well as book. I'm liking our hero being a real bad a** warrior. Lol like what can really take him down? Only hesitation in him is with some of the women that can't fight. I'm ready for book 3 now! Oh, & what neck is about the crazy man?...
I enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and entertaining. The story and characters were incredibly interesting and engaging. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book and series are definitely worth checking out.
Not as good as the first one. Still good, but not the five star that the first one had, I don't see any reason for anyone to not read this if you liked the first. More plot in this one, not the best, but still great chemistry.
Pretty solid overall, but didn't quite clear the 5-star hurdle for me. Good character development in this one, and certainly I'll read a book 3 if it comes along.
It turns out that Davik's sword is very special. The brother of the man who the sword was made for comes looking for Davik and has planned a careful revenge against Davik using those that he loves in the Tavern. The brother is a Mage, and even though he's in for a surprise, the things that he has set in motion will cause worry and concern for everyone in the tavern.
The first to be victim of his plans is the Fae cook. Her family tree is about to auctioned away. To the Fae the family tree is everything, it is their birthright. Everyone scrambles to go and save her family tree. Sariel dons her armor that she never wanted to wear again. Once the get to Hollyhead enemies of Davik's past show up and they aren't happy to see that he is still alive. Also an old Knight and his squire show up as well and ask him to come to a wedding in the lands that he is still hunted. They are sworn to continue to follow him until he comes.
Obviously there is going to be more books, as Karley, who is part drow elf disappears at the end, the second victim of the brother.
