A romantic anniversary dinner. A heartfelt message. Then silence.
Anna Stanten's world shatters when she learns her boyfriend Wyatt's corporate jet has crashed. With the company dragging its feet on the search, Anna takes matters into her own hands, assembling a team of volunteers to find the man she loves.
But as she retraces Wyatt's last known steps, danger lurks at every turn. Her uncle, driven by an insatiable greed for a mysterious key mentioned in her grandmother's will, seems to be pulling strings from the shadows. And who is this new "aunt" that suddenly appeared in her life?
In the rugged mountain terrain, Anna must:
• Unravel dark family secrets • Outmaneuver a sinister plot • Trust her instincts as she builds unlikely alliances
With each passing day, Anna's determination grows. Wyatt's last text won't be the final chapter in their love story—not if she has anything to say about it.
His Last Text is a clean, high-intensity romantic suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Rebecca Lake weaves a tale of deception, desperation, and unwavering love, set against the backdrop of treacherous mountain peaks and small-town secrets.
Rebecca grew up in the rural West, where abandoned gold rush towns, remote caves, and the rugged Idaho mountains stirred her imagination. The stories remained unwritten until one day she decided she could no longer wait for tomorrow and began writing. Within a year, she penned Where Secrets Lie, His Last Text, and The Mistaken Witness.
Her clean novels provide unique twists, white-knuckle suspense, and sweet romance. The characters inspire with their courage, grounded in hope.
This is an atypical romance. Anna's about-to-be finance, Wyatt, is seriously injured in a plane crash. Nash, brother to Anna's office manager, makes arrangements for himself and several friends to search in the mountains for the crash. There is a time crunch because the person who caused the crash is trying to get there first to hide his guilt. The reader realizes that Nash is attracted to Anna. I started to think that Anna and Nash would end up together.
I feel sorry for Nash because he is trying to find Wyatt despite his own interest in Anna.
Wyatt and Anna loved one-another and Wyatt had sent a text to Anna telling her how much he loved her. This text was particularly touching because Wyatt had been called away from an important date the evening before that had aggravated Anna, and they had parted with unresolved issues.
Stop now if you haven’t read Rebecca Lake’s Where Secrets Lie. This book will not be as impactful as it should be if you haven’t read the first book. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Devlin and his parents have to be some of the top villains in contemporary fiction. I’m not sure he has any redeeming features. This book will keep you in suspense for the entire book. We can’t be sure of Wyatt and Annie’s love prevailing, we don’t know who will live or die, and we certainly can’t be sure of who are the good guys. We are disappointed in a few. These were my first books by this author, but they certainly won’t be my last.
This book is part two of Anna and Wyatt's story, as they continue to outwit and outrun evil Devlin. The story is interesting and suspenseful. Introduction of a new character, Flora, who is elderly and dying but bounces with energy, which is quite unbelievable, plus she's still around 18 months later, and mention of Anna picking at her cuticles Over and over got to be annoying, I think the author could have come up with some different ways to describe her anxiety. But there's more pros than cons, a good read overall
This book was really good and I ate up every page of it. I read it from cover to cover in one setting as I had to know how it ended. I could not go to bed not knowing what would happen to Wyatt and Anna.
We have a celebration planned. We have been dating each other for a year. We are going to have a special dinner and then I have a special question for Anna, one that only she can answer. And then Wyatt gets a last minute phone call and some business that he has to handle. And then Wyatt has to fly out the next day for business trip. And then we get word that the plane has crashed and we are waiting on word of survivors. So now all we can do is pray.
The company seems to be dragging their feet when it comes to the rescue, what are they waiting on? I can not wait to find out and I have to know if Wyatt is alive or injured. I have to know and luckily Casey my personal secretary has a brother that is willing to go in with some of his buddies to try and rescue survivors and the bodies of those that did perish. God Bless Nash and his rescue team. While the team is going up the mountain we find out that the plane crash might not have been an accident and someone had made it crash. What some people will do for money is beyond my grasp.
The rescue team finally makes it to the sight of the crash and we get word that there is only one survivor. Who was that one survivor? Please God let it be Wyatt. How badly is the person injured and will he survive the trip back down the mountain to where help awaits?
I was really looking forward to Wyatt and Anna’s story as the synopsis sounded so good.I was expecting it to be fast paced and with well crear characters. However, I quickly fell lost. I felt I couldn’t relate to the characters. There was a good attention to detail but this didn’t change the way I felt about the book.
The suspense and romance, as well as overall pacing, was way too slow for me to stay interested and I did try to persevere with the book, but it just didn’t work for me.
Unfortunately, His Last Text was a DNF at 15% for me.
Thanks to Rebecca Lake.

This book is a must read! Part thriller, part romance, this book has it all! I had not read Book 1 of this series. While there were some references to previous situations, I was able to read this as a stand alone. I won't, however as I want to read all of the books in this series! All Wyatt wanted to do was help his love, Anna, but he messed up. That night he sent her a text, the next morning he disappeared, along with the corporate jet. Anna relies on her assistant for help, who calls on her brother. In the end, love overcomes and wins. Definitely an edge of you seat, can't put down read! I was given an advanced copy by Hidden Gems Books.
This high octane, suspenseful story with its ever-evolving plot and continuously increasing menace, will keep you on your toes wondering what will happen next. Anna Stanten and Wyatt Stone, although devoted to each other in every way, had a disagreement. Surely a tiff in a public restaurant left unresolved overnight could be worked out together the next day. But, what if you didn't get the next day or any more days ever? This love story is a hectic chase to prevent harm coming to the people Anna cares about most, and the strength, courage and faith it takes to make it to the end of the journey. Very Good Read with fast-paced drama on every page!!!!!
Anna and Wyatt are interrupted at their first anniversary of dating dinner. Wyatt must leave for a trip out of town immediately. Anna is very upset with Wyatt, but her emotions soon turn to worry when his plane never reaches its destination. Nash, the brother of Anna’s best friend and assistant, comes to Anna’s aid, and then to Wyatt’s.
Very edge-of-your-seat exciting. Follow Anna, Wyatt, and Nash in this suspenseful drama.
I received a copy of this book from the author. My review is entirely voluntary and unbiased.
I thought book 1 was amazing. Book 2 put it to shame! Again another couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Another intriguing story. Plot and characters were well developed and easily relatable. I will be adding this series to my library! My mind is still blown. Another must read! I’m looking forward to see what this author has for us next.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from Hidden Gems.
Her life was going well until his plane goes missing and she wants to find him. It is not going to be easy as something is going on behind it all. She will do anything to find him but some may try to stop her finding him. See just how she will get on in this thrilling adventure tale I received an advance copy from hidden gems and it kept me hooked until the last page
Book 2 in the Deception in The Mountains series is a high-intensity romantic suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. His Last text finds Anna searching for her boyfriend Wyatt after his plane crashes. Can she find him, or will she have to accept that he is gone? Grab this book to find out. This was an enjoyable read that has me looking forward to the next one.
a story full of unwavering love and suspense, Anna and Wyatt find themselves being hunted by Anna's uncle Devlin and Wyatt barely escapes with his life. from the time I started the story, I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. I got this as an ARC and started with this book in the series first but I look forward to reading the others soon.
This is a new author to me and she had me captivated from the start. The pace of the story made it a page turner with characters that were very likeable. Nash is a really good hero, someone who knew the right people and I think he stole the show/story. This is a story that I will gladly read again. I received a free advance review copy and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Rebecca Lake’s book His Last Text: In this book you will read about two very special people Wyatt and Anna. When Wyatt discovers dirt on Anna’s family member their lives become in danger. The horrible things that happen in this book will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.
His last Text is a suspenseful thriller! The tension is palpable, the characters well developed and the action is compelling! Anna and Wyatt overcome perilous adventures, with help from Kasey, Nash and numerous several supporters! The story was beautifully written, moving, heartfelt and pageturning! I'm looking forward to the sequel!
Very good story full of terrorizing events. A plane crash. Remote. Snow covered mountains. Wyatt is going to visit Flora to see if she might be related to Anna. This is a mystery throughout the whole book. She is in danger. They are also looking for a Key that was left to Anna in her grandmothers will. Wait until you see what that is. Good story.
Going into this book I did not realize that it was a second book in a series. Which totally explains why I felt lost several times. Good story with some good bones. I did feel like some parts were repetitive at times. Overall, I enjoyed the book, but really wish I had read book 1 first.
This book was amazing. It was full of suspense until the very end. I loved the romantic addition in the book and the fact that Anna held on and didn't give up hope.
