WAS THERE A HUMAN CIVILIZATION IN ANTARCTICA IN THE PAST?

WILL WE EVER KNOW?

In November 2002 a special U.S. Navy SEAL team is sent to Antarctica to locate and rescue a film crew that has become lost. No trace of them is found, except for film footage of strange artefacts buried under the ice. Everyone who saw the film is warned to never talk about what they have seen - EVER AGAIN.

More than a decade later, in Boulder, Colorado, Professor Charles Summers is intrigued by the discovery of a 16th century map showing the coastline of Antarctica so accurately that when NASA investigates the maps they find that they must update their own current maps! But this map predates any record of the discovery of Antarctica by 300 years!

Who Drew Those Maps and When?
Did They See Antarctica Without Its Icecap?
Did Humans Live On Antarctica Before?
But…Antarctica Has Been Under Its Icecap For 200 Million Years!

Is it possible that beneath the ice we will find the remains of an impossibly ancient civilization? The Rossler Foundation arranges an expedition to Antarctica to search for evidence of such a civilization. The Orion Society immediately mobilizes their resources to infiltrate the expedition. Will their treachery and hunger for power stop this expedition from reaching its goals?

Is There An Ancient City Under The Ice Of Antarctica?

Audible:Though an interesting premise, this book was boring to start. It picked up a bit but the ending was flat.Again, not much science going on.The narration was really bad.The narrator would come into his own, then drift away.He re read the same parts of sentences seemingly until he got it right. There were odd bits where the audio stopped in between words and numbers. It sounded like a practice run.“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”

I continue to enjoy this series. Since the series skirts the edges of science fiction it could go a little deeper into the science stuff but I like the concept. Just remember it's a mystery/thriller and you'll have an entertaining read.

An exciting thriller.

I enjoyed the adventure of the group moving throughout Antarctica. Well written mystery-adventure-thriller with some sci-fi and personal relationships as well. This was written with a diverse cast of characters. I definitely had my favorites. I also enjoyed the happy endings.

"Don't be an idiot, J.R."
The recently opened Rosslerr Foundation holds all of the documentation left behind by the Tenth Cycle, so it was natural for Dr.Summers to go to them for assistance with his latest project: how come accurate maps of various !locations were drawn even before that place had been discovered? Indeed, in the case of Antarctica, the land mass itself had been charted in the 1500s, when the area was not only unknown but also had been hidden by an ice sheet (impenetrable until very recent times and instrumentation) which had completely obscured the land for at least 35,000 years, that is, even prior to the Tenth Cycle. An expedition is arranged to include Dr.Summers and Daniel's wayward brother, J.R. Meanwhile, ever watchful, the powerful, immensely wealthy and secretive Orion Society attempt to infiltrate the group with their own spies ...

Completely standalone, this slowish moving adventure mystery thriller continues it's search into past civilisations and the search to forestall a possibly coming apocalypse. Again, with somewhat naive writing, the story is detailed and often has a documentary feel. There is a touch of romance, too, but fortunately avoiding the cloying immaturity of that found in the preceding volume, the Tenth Cycle.

A good narration by William Gensburger. His voice was warm, well paced and modulated, and his protagonists were slightly differentiated in conversation.. There was, again, the annoying "End of chapter ..." stated after each section before the more usual continuing 'Chapter ...' followed by the heading, that further broke concentration, however, and a number of editing "false starts" which are not eliminated. His delivery of the textual exploration of each new discovery, though, was again excellent, read more like a factual document and so assisting the believability of the theories as they evolved.

I was gifted a complementary copy of the Ninth Cycle, at my request, by the rights holder, via Audiobook Boom and found it far more enjoyable than its predecessor. An interesting read which I would recommend to anyone interested in past civilisation discovery thrillers.

The Rossler Foundation series is about a group of scientist and adventurers who use ancient artifacts to discover cycles of civilizations that run a course over a period of 26,000 years. The Rossler group have discovered we are currently in the 11th cycle. Worldwide threats indicate that we are toward the end of this cycle.

The Rossler Foundation must find away to stop the destiny of world destruction by religious zealots, greed and power hungry individuals through a staff of scientists, translators and adventurers before our current cycle is destroyed. The group finds advanced technology within the 10th and 9th cycle but they also find new ways to destroy humanity by interpreting the messages left by previous people.

This is the second in the series. The foundation sends a group of scientist and explorers to see if they can discover remnants of the 9th Cycle of humanity based on mention by the 10th cycle ancient text. J.R. Rossler is the main character in the 9th Cycle Antartica. He is several heads taller than any other explorer in the group. Unfortunately J.R. suffers from PTSD after experiencing war time trauma in the Marines. J.R. is a loose canon on this expedition beneath the ice. His rage issues can threaten all the explorers of this ancient city. JC Ryan has a firm grasp on the effects of PTSD.

The 9th cycle of humanity had a secret that people will die for and the Rossler explorers are not only threatened by their environment, J.R.'s emotional imbalance but there is another group interested in learning secret knowledge from previous civilization cycles.

Fasten your seat belts and prepare to hang on to your seat. JC Ryan does not let his readers down in this novel.

I haven't read book one of this series but it is clear that this book has major spoilers for book one so I recommend reading them in order. This could be read as a stand alone if you want to.

I found the idea behind the book fascinating, the idea that humans had evolved on 10 previous occasions only to suffer a cataclysm that devolved them each time was interesting and unique.

I found the characters complex and realistic which made them easy to connect with. I found myself desperately wanting them to succeed.

I'm definitely interested in reading more of this series.

The narration was mostly excellent, occasionally I noticed something was spoken in the wrong character voice but the voices were well done and the delivery was enjoyable. It does need to be better edited there are a few dozen mistakes that are still in there.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher in exchange for an honest review.

When the Rossler Foundation sends an expedition team to Antarctica for evidence of a lost civilization beneath the ice, the harsh and unpredictable conditions aren't the only dangers they'll face.

Ninth Cycle Antarctica was a great thriller with lots of action and intrigue. What they found was totally unexpected and I loved all of the suspense building up to their discovery and the subsequent battle to return home. The twists and turns kept me engaged throughout and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. The narrator was very good overall but there were many instances where you could hear him clearing his throat and repeating lines when he made a mistake. Still, I really enjoyed Ninth Cycle Antarctica and would recommend it.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is my honest opinion.

This is an interesting book, but I felt somewhat lost throughout it. I understand that this is the second book in a series, but I thought they would stand alone. I feel like I missed some major things that would explain the world and backstory of the characters, including their motivations and history. Something just felt not fully developed with this book. I also really disliked the narration. It was too slow and didn't quite fit. Overall, the book was okay. It was entertaining enough that I could look past the flaws, but I think I definitely should have read the first one before starting this.

I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left my honest review. The free copy did not influence my review in any way.

Another Wonderful Hidden-heritage Adventure Thriller from a Master

***** "Ninth Cycle Antarctica " is a wonderful novel, building on the characters and plots of the previous "Tenth Cycle". It would be advantageous to read the novels in sequence (for reader familiarity), but each novel is complete in itself. Ryan writes masterful, cross-genre novels, and this is a good example. He begins with current crypto-scientific theories as a base, and then weaves such exciting and complex story-lines, utilizing adventure and thriller elements, hidden-heritage ideas, secret cabals intent on world domination, personal growth and even some romance!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AS BOTH AN INDIVIDUAL BOOK AND AS A SERIES

AN ABSOLUTELY AWESOME READ!!

First off, I would give this book, 10 stars, if I could!!! In this book, the group ventures into finding the Ninth Cycle in Antarctica. After arriving at the Military Base, the group spends time, getting adjusted to the extremely cold weather. The addition of a troubled JR, has left some of the group, quite unhappy. A long cold trip ahead of the group, leaves a few, not quite sure that they are properly prepared.
A definite read, that you will find hard to put down. A section actually made me cry...
So...here's my final opinion.....

The Story Kept Me Going

Oh baby, you move too slow. The promise of discovering an ancient civilization kept me going. There was some disappointment on that end. The book stumbled over worn out gender and racial stereotypes. The story would move better if it dropped about a third of the book.

My surprise at the second reading

I stumbled across the full series and my memory told me I’d read the first. Turns out I’d read the first three previously, my memory strikes again, now I find I’m headed into a reread of the third...there are some advantages to a poor memory.
Thanks Mr Ryan taking me along with your tales.

The Ninth and Tenth Cycles

I began to read these books because the synopsis intrigued me. I have always enjoyed reading anything about archeology and those to went before us. Mr. Ryan kept me in suspense! I had to think and reason about many things and occaxsionsly look up something.

The writing was still bad in this book, but not as bad as the first book in the series.
In the first book, the sections involving the romantic relationship between the two main characters were the worst. There was very little of that in this book, making the writing not quite as terrible as the first, but still not good.

Number two in the Rossler Foundation, the group translating the knowledge encoded in size and placement of the stones of the Great Pyramid of Giza. This second in the series has them looking for a city somewhere in Antarctica because the stones mentioned it as a Ninth Cycle city. This one includes a coronavirus and gene science.

This was a very interesting read. It really kept my interest and kept me guessing what would come next. It was full of unexpected incidents. This is the second book that I have read in the series. The first one was the 10th Cycle. It was also fantastic. I look for more in the series. Sure to be a winner.

Then next book in the Rossler Foundation series has the foundation sponsoring an expedition to Antarctica following up on clues discovered in the previous book as the library of the Tenth Cycle is translated. Hardships, imbedded spies form the same group that targeted them in the first book nearly do in the whole expedition but a remarkable discovery is made.

A great follow up to the Tenth Cycle: sometimes the sequel is a bit of a let down but not so in this series! Archaeological-exploration-adventure, what a great story. Who drew the map of Antarctica centuries before it was known to humanity? And why?

9th Cycle Antartica

Just love JC Ryan’s epic adventures into the past present and future. Every book connects the reader to the characters so realistically that it’s like travelling in the same space. So very highly recommended.

No Better than the last one

Shallow, superficial characters. Plot development sketchy and jumps without detail. The premise is interesting, however.
I think I'm done. No more.
