A Gentle & Quiet Spirit: Of Great Worth To God

Rate this book
Many Christian women face a dilemma in embracing the biblical teaching in 1 Peter 34 about a gentle and quiet spirit being of great worth to God. They want to please God but they perceive "gentle" and "quiet" as weak or passive qualities. The truth is that the original text describes a strong and peaceful woman and the word translated "great worth" means the very end or limit with reference to value. In other words there is nothing more valuable to God. This book will give you a new perspective and some valuable lessons on how to become this strong woman with inner peace. Twentyfive worksheets throughout the book make it especially useful as a personal or group study guide.

I read this book seven years ago with other sisters from my church. Recently I read it with another sister in a mentoring program with Ruah and Ember.

Reading this a second time, examining the scriptures, and answering the same questions in the twenty-five worksheets has shown me how I have matured in my marriage and what needs further improvements.

All women whether married or not should read this book so that God can enable us to have the gentle and quiet spirit that God is pleased with.

I haven't yet finished the book and am utterly convinced that every woman -- married or interested in marriage -- should read this. It brings the biblical role of wife above the suffering connotation of the Western world. I am 6 months into a lovely and communicative marriage, and normally -- much to my husband's joy -- I offer updates on all the books I read as I discover neat pieces of them. This book, however, I have kept my periodic reviews silent, writing them instead in a journal. I have done this to SHOW him rather than TELL him the wonders of this book, and he's taken such notice. I am altogether happier (as is he) and more established in my relationship with God and with my husband as an result. It is sweetly life-changing.

I found this book to be a God send. It clarified so many questions that I had about my role as a wife. It gave me peace and yet another reason to trust GOD! What a privilege. I recommend it for all women to know and love and understand the god given role that we have!
