“For now, all ye have is me. Yer words, yer body, even yer breaths belong to me.”
Laird Adam would do anything to get his sister back. Even hunt down the man who wronged her…only to steal his bride.
Emily is forced to marry a vicious man to save her family. Up until the last minute, she prays for a way out...That's when the most handsome –and lethal-looking– Laird crashes her wedding.
But he's not an angel sent from above to help her. He's a villain far more dangerous –and seductive– than she can imagine. Someone who wants to trap her in a white marriage as part of his plan...Or so he says, just before he hungrily claims her lips.
*Captured by the Cruel Highlander is a steamy Scottish historical romance novel of 80,000 words (around 400 pages) written by Eloise Madigan and published by Cobalt Fairy.
No cheating, no cliffhangers, lots of steam and a happy ending.
’Por ahora, todo lo que tienes soy yo. Tus palabras, tu cuerpo, incluso tu aliento me pertenecen’.

Captured by the Cruel Highlander de Eloise Madigan Serie Unwanted Highland Wives libro 1
Argumento:
After she insulted him by refusing to dance with him, Laird James Stewart forced Emily Murray to marry him. If she did not, he would return with his army, kill her father Laird Wilkinson, her brother, and anyone else she cared about before he took over her clan and their lands. Never doubting for a minute that he would do as he said, Emily had no choice but to agree. Stamding at the altar, Emily prayed “Please, if anyone is listenin’, let this weddin’ be stopped,” and just then a huge Highland warrior and his men burst in. Kidnapped by Adam Kane, Laird MacNiall, Emily discovered that she was to be used as bait to draw James out so that Adam could avenge his sister Emma, who had been seeing James, but now seemed to have disappeared. Adam believed that when he annouced that he was marrying Emily, James would come to get his bride back. However if James did not show, Emily and Adam would actually be married, but Adam insisted that it would only be a mariahe of convenience and they would live separate lives. While they were waiting for James to appear, Emily and Adam had a ‘go away closer’ type of relationship. She was not used to someone telling her what to do and she had a hard time obeying Adam’s directives. They argued constantly and kissed often. She wanted a real marriage and partnership and he believed that his desire for her and his need to protect her would be a distraction from his duties to his clan. It wasn’t until his mother set him straight that he realized that he had misconstrued his parents’ relationship, resulting in his misconception of a wife’s role. Of course things did not go according to plan, but the threat was eventually neutralized. This is such a good story with everything you could want…powerful handsome hero and beautiful fiesty heroine overcoming physical and emotional obstacles; brooding best friend with perceptive advice; cold soon-to-be mother in-law; an enigmatic man-at-arms; overprotective brothers; unrest in the clan; unsupportive council members; and a nasty vile villain. There are some very unexpected touches, like sword fighting one handed with a person slung over a shoulder, or creating a pillow fort. This story is full of action, emotion and steam, and it was very hard to put down!
(3.75/5) Another kindle universe find! Adam and Emily are a good couple, but both of them are a little too stubborn and feisty for my liking. The genre defining complaint here is the lack of communication! Adam is stubborn and sometimes cruel because he is scared to let his kindness rule him as laird. Luckily, he was never cruel in an unforgivable way and he was a likable MMC. I also appreciated that this book didn’t include any annoying old character to play as the matchmaker, which is a trope I’ve been getting tired of. What I will say about this book is that it is far out of touch from reality, haha! For example, they mention the book Gulliver’s Travels, which wasn’t published until 1726, which seems to be after the general setting of this book. It is also remarked that it would take hours to find someone in the library or at least fifteen minutes to reach a bedchamber from the main floor, which seems ridiculous. From what I know of Scottish history, the castle of a laird would be a smaller keep instead of a lavish estate that is so large that you’d need to walk a mile just to get from one end to the other. And finally, the FMC is described as being eye-level with the MMC’s navel, which would be the equivalent of 5ft tall and 7ft tall, which is hard to imagine. But, I don’t read these books for historical and dimensional accuracies! Just thought it was a funny theme throughout the book, to notice the exaggerations.
I wasn't a big fan of the precariousness of them both being & not being engaged. I really how much Adam cared about Emily at first & how much she wanted to impress him.
Adam's back & forth to get old pretty quickly. It was like 70% of it was him making Emily feel unwanted, telling her she meant nothing to him & that he didn't want her around & then like 30% if I'm telling her "your mine" & that he just wants to keep her safe & that she is a means to an end & she should be grateful. I felt like they was something missing between them.
I really felt for Emily I feel like she was a good person in I difficult situation & for the most part I agreed with her.
Like that Doughall told Adam off with how unfair he was being to Emily & I really like Freya she was an interesting strong character.
Emily is being forced into a marriage with Laird Stewart to keep him from killing her brother and father. But in her wedding day, she is kidnapped by Adam, Laird MacNiall. Adam is stealing Laird Stewart’s bride to force him to release his sister Laura. Emily and Adam begin a rocky relationship with the goal of saving her family and his sister. I loved the storyline but I really had trouble with the female characters in the book. Their personalities were annoying to me and detracted from the story. Emily was foolish and immature at times. I really liked Adam although he needed to learn to communicate better. I hope we will get Doughall’s story at some point.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the characters. Emily has such a strong sense of loyalty to her family that she will do anything in her power to keep them safe. When her wedding to an evil villain is interrupted by another laird who kidnaps Emily in order to spare his in sister, Emily feels like a pawn. The laird, Adam, finds that in spite of kidnapping Emily and bringing her to his castle, it doesn't take her long to love his home and his clan & his family. The intrigue is in wondering when the original villain will appear and make good on his threats. This story kept me intrigued until the wee hours of the morning.
I enjoyed the read of Adam and his quest, even though his plan brought about a different chain of events. Now one event of change was Emily which she got on my nerves the second chain was Lucas which was just what a loyal councilman should be next there was the best friend Doughall who was just there and then there was Freya who for me was the jewel with her wit and silent strengths. So here's the thing will there be following stories with what was suppose to be the plot of the story "Laura" and just maybe Doughall and Freya, 😏 just saying. Anyway for me It was a ok read, I think from the blurb I was looking for more.
Emily was forced to marry a cruel and dangerous man who threatened her family and their home. If she didn't marry him, he just wanted her as property but when she was at the altar, there was a commotion and she was kidnapped by Adam a large man with a fur pelt on his shoulders come to find out, he only wanted to kidnap her and hold her as bait for James Stewart, who he wanted to kill. Really good story. The only thing I didn't like was that Adam was supposed to be the cruel highlander, but sometimes he was ruled by the females in his life, which was kind of shocking to me.
In this book I found The highlander to be quite the alpha man. He was demanding Looking out for the good of the whole. The other characters were well written And I enjoyed each 1 of them and their personalities that the author wrote into them. The plot of this story was Typical highland conflict conflict. But this author kept you so in trans that when I looked up at the clock I didn't realize how many hours had passed by. It was a good book kept me involved and kept reading.
Emily and Laird Adam have a common enemy. She is being forced to marry a man that is ruthless in order to save her family but at the last minute the wedding is crashed, and she is taken by a man that is even more dangerous than the man she was supposed to marry. Will Emily save her family and get a chance for happiness as well. This adventurous story kept me glued to the pages. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
Awesome read and so looking forward to the second book of the series.
This is the best book by Eloise Madigan! I gasped, laughed and cried while reading Emily's and Adam's story. The characters are all so strong which makes for a wonderful book. Well written and so full of action and love. Eloise Madigan I am so looking forward to book 2 of this series!
Emily is being forced to marry a man who has imprisoned her and her family so she will agree to marry him. Before the ceremony is completed there is a fight and she is carried away. Laird McNail takes her to his home in an effort to have his sister returned but things take a turn that he wasn't expecting but things turn out the way they are supposed to. Great story!
Revenge is a strong reason for the kidnapping and plotting in this story, add to that the colorful characters and intense situations and you have this story. Emily’s character has many facets that make her adventurous, brave and strong that she needs to go against Adam’s defenses.. a workable mix.
It was to be a happy time. People were dancing and talking and having a fine time. When this awful grab Emily arm and insisted she dance. She told him know and he became angry. He told her he wanted to marry her. And if she didn't marry him he would kill everyone she loved in her family.
I like the way the characters complimented each other ever when they were at odds with each other, which was all the time. I just can't understand why it always takes so long for the men to understand their true feelings. Sometimes I want to take a frying pan and knock some sense into their heads. Great story.
This adventure was really interesting and exciting! They had to navigate through some trying times. The characters were awesome. Very glad the way you ended this adventure. Thanks for sharing your story!
Eloise Madigan brings us another tale that is going to keep you turning pages. This one is both heartfelt and enchanting taking you on a ride that will have you enthralled. So grab you snack and pillow and curl up with an awesome read.
What a different turn of events in this book that makes it an interesting read. Adam, tyrant or hero?? Or both!!!! Emily too is a confusing character is she a damsel in distress or a force to be reckoned with? Not a Duke miment in this book and a great read!
A good story. Great characters . I especially liked how they interacted with each other. I felt the mother in law a little harsh but I suppose she had to be that way as a contrast to her daughter and future daughter in law. All around a really good read.
Emily & Adam are quite the fun quarreling pair! Plenty of tense moments fighting evil. Thankfully she was stolen out of that first wedding to have a few more with the right, powerful laird Adam. Wonderful story to read over & over!
An amazing romance full of excitement and passion with wonderfully strong and compelling characters that kept me enthralled from the very beginning and through out the ending, I thoroughly enjoyed this story, it is awesome!
Emily was to marry a very cruel Laird when Laird MacNiall kidnapped her. So as to get the other Laird to come after him he and Emily married. This book has some real surprises and I think you should read it.
I just loved this book, it had me enthralled from page 1. I love a story that takes me on a journey. Now in to Book 2. Thank Eloise Madigan for lifting my romantic self.
❤The story of Emily and Adam had some interesting twists and turns. The storyline was good and I loved all the characters. Especially Emily very spunky stood her ground with Adam. A must read can't wait to read the next book in the series.
I really liked this story, but what is missing is who showed her former fiance the hidden passageway. I would like to have read where there was a traitor in the castle.
The stakes are never higher than when the family is in danger. Adam and Emily have a common enemy, and plot to take care of a wicked laird once and for all. Of course there’s romance, too. But this book had plenty going on. Tension keeps you turning the pages!
