I'm not sure whether to call this book part of a series or part of a serial. Unlike most serials that I have tried, this is a complete story and there is no huge cliffhanger at the end even though it is obvious that the story will be continuing. However, it is like a serial in that it is very, very short and left me wanting more. More info on the world, more about the 2 MCs, more info about the other pack members, more info about all the other packs and their alphas. Just more . . . which is what the author had in mind I suppose, so score one for Chloe.

I'm looking forward to the next one anyway.

freebie novella on amazon that surprised me - well paced and written well, with enough dialogue between the H/h to establish a relationship and drew me into that little ‘verse. Heroine is BBW but it’s not a big part of the story which I enjoyed. I’m eager to read the next one in series - so much so I just bought it.

The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.

The storyline was very underdeveloped and was just an excuse to flesh out sex scenes.

Too short. Liam and Amalie are a perfect couple. They are funny. I enjoyed watching them get together. Story was entirely too short, but I enjoyed it.

This was a really fast read. Liam is the Alpha and is basically going on trial for turning a human, and at what cost will it be? His own life, or hers, or even his pack. Really great book, and going on to book 2.

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

Prey is a short and very sexy introduction to the Montana Wolves series. Although the book is indicated to be erotica, I found it to be no more so than most shifter romances today. I expect hot and sexy shifters who cannot keep their paws or ahmm their hands off of their mates. So that there are sex scenes, vivid sex scenes in this story was no true surprise.

Amalie was happily heading for her week in nature, spending time photographing the wilderness and hoping to help still the raging anger among people at the natural wolves in the area. Wolves were majestic creatures and she was determined to show them in a non-hostile framework of her photography. Unfortunately for Amelie, she encounters a not so natural wolf while checking over her maps – and is attacked with only a highlighter and a coffee thermos as weapons. She was bitten and believed she would die in the Montana wilderness that she so loved. Instead of death, a white timber wolf emerged from the trees and immediately began defending her by attacking the other wolf. Before she blacked out she was certain that the white wolf who had stood over her morphed into a man with the tenderest eyes.

Liam knew there would be hell to pay for his actions. He not only stopped another shifter from making a kill, he’d brought the human into his home under his protection. The surrounding pack leaders would have his head, and her life for saving this amazing woman – who even now was beginning to turn into what he was.

Even though Prey is a very short novella, I found myself captivated by the story and the glimpses of the lives of the other members of the pack. There is an additional reason why Liam’s pack is so fearful of and has such hatred toward humans. The fact that Amallie won’t be human for long seems to elude them all. There is a very strong sexual pull between Liam and Amalie – is it the turning fever or perhaps his true mate. There is also a villain to watch out for in the future stories in the Montana Wolves series.. he’s shadowy for now, certainly pure evil. And I doubt we’ve seen the last of him.

If you love shifter romance, then I would recommend Prey and the rest of this series to be added to your reading list. Short, sexy and sassy it will give you a delicious taste of what is to come.

Photographer Amalie Baptista is attacked by one of the wolves she’s sworn to protect and Liam will risk everything to save her from the monsters among them in this mesmerizing paranormal romance.

Tension builds throughout this fast paced plot full of suspense, excitement and passion as Liam risks not only his standing in his pack but his very life in order to save Amalie from those who think he should have let her die. The reader can’t help but get caught up in the story as Amalie learns that the wolf that attacked her is a werewolf but now she is one too. The attraction between Amalie and Liam burns hot and their mating instinct is strong but the outcome of the relationship rest on the actions of the packs.

The characters are strong, compelling and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning while the suspense draws the reader in and while I wish the story had been longer, it is an enjoyable quick captivating romance and I am looking forward to see what happens next.

>Book review - Prey -

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the first in the Montana Wolves series and ends with an HEA. Amalie is a nature photographer who is attacked in the woods by a wolf. Before the wolf can kill her, another wolf saves her. She recovers at the home of a man she feels a connection to. Liam saved Amalie, but the attack will change her to a wolf, like him. He is the alpha of his pack and discovers Amalie is his mate.

>The story slows down when there is a trial over the fate of Amalie. I would have liked to see some interactions with Liam's pack and maybe some alpha jealousy in regards to Amalie. The story was over quickly, before the relationship between Liam and Amalie was really developed.

>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. The story and characters were good, but everything needed to be dealt with a little more.

Received this book for an honest review.

This is my first book by Chloe Cole and it was an interesting read. You have a group of wolves that don't believe in the mixing between shifters and humans. In fact their rules are kind of archaic and this is how the different packs police there people. In fact created wolves are destroyed they only believe in pure bred born wolves.

I write the twist in the story line that makes this book somewhat different from others in the same genre. I look forward to reading missed calls other books in this series to see where the story goes that makes this book somewhat different from others in the same genre.

I look forward to reading Chloe other books in the series to see where the story goes.

Amalie is a photographer on assignment to photograph wolves and write an article calling to mind their plight. Her GPS is on the fritz. She gets out of her car and is attacked ironically by a wolf. She wakes up in Liam's home. He is an Alpha Wolf. Amalie was bitten by a werewolf from another pack hunting illegally on his lands. The other Pack is demanding that the human be put to death. Liam believes she should live and be a part of his Pack. He believes she could be his mate. When the neighboring packs force a vote on the issue of her being allowed to live or die, he realizes his own life is in jeopardy as well. His own Pack is against keeping Amalie alive. Will he lose his Pack? Amalie? His life? Can he sway enough members of his pack and the other packs to swing the vote in his and Amelie's favor? Is there another option?

Second time reading...

A good book is hard to put down and reading the same book over again makes it even better. Truthfully I needed to read Liam and Amile's story again. Such a true romance story with an edge of suspense. I love how the female lead starts out with a sense of seeing wolves as beautiful creatures, as well as her efforts of gaining justice for them living and surviving in Pray, Montana. Liam, the Alpha of the Montana wolves came across Amile as she was being attacked by a neighboring wolf on his land. The rest is history. I have given this book five stars because it was worth the re-read.

Enjoyed this short shifter read

Part of kindle unlimited. Book 1 in series that leaves off in a place where it can be a standalone read. She sets out to photograph wolves so she can help protect them. He rescues her from another wolf trying to kill her. When she wakes up in his home, she is automatically attracted to him but she has no idea he's the Alpha of the pack and that her life has been changed forever. Can he save her from being eliminated by the other packs? How will she handle finding out about all that comes to light? Good solid story.

Received this book as a free read & was not disappointed. Shifter book that was intriguing, hot & well written considering the short length of it. Story contains one hot alpha shifter, Liam who feels a connection & need to protect Amalie. Amalie is a photographer who becomes a damsel in distress & ends up being shown things she never knew existed. Loved the chemistry between Liam & Amalie. Can't wait to read the next in the series. Would recommend.

This was a nice novella and introduction to this world. The story was well rounded and complete. The synopsis says it is an erotic story, but I didn't think it was any more graphic than most of the other paranormal romance books out there. The writing was good and the characters believable. I look forward to seeing where this series goes, I believe I will be adding the next one to my to-read list.

A delightful beginning to the Montana Wolves series

My first Chloe Cole read and I wasn't disappointed to say the least. She quickly built a credible story plot and fleshed it out with characters that y theou felt compassion and understanding for. I can't wait to follow up on more of the story of Liam and Amalies life together. I've already downloaded the series! I'm a happy camper! Merrilyn

Wolves

omg. Some sadistic monster causes her to be a threat to the wolves of prey, Montana. But hold on, she is all in with the alpha who is determine the this woman, if she changes, is worth standing up for. He will stand up for her and convince his pack that his mate is a good addition and worth turning away other sadistic packs who would stand up against the two.

Short but very enjoyable read!! Amalie is in the woods to watch wolves but little did she know that something would happen that would change her life. I enjoyed that this told Amalie and Liam's story in full while introducing you the rest of the pack. The author has created a strong cast of characters and makes you want to read the next book to find out what happens to the rest of the pack.

During a trip to take pictures, Amalie is attacked by a wolf and then rescued by another. Liam saved her out of instinct and now he must fight to keep her alive and with them. Will Liam be able to talk sense into the others? Will Amalie accept she is no longer the same?

Great book, love how Liam stood up for her even when he knew the odds. He wasn't willing to back down.

Good First Installment

This novella could easily be written as a full length novel. Good structure and a very good storyline. Being a novella the story is rushed but the progression of the tale was still good.

Liam & Amalie

Liam and Amalie's story is great. It's a good start for a series I can't wait to sink in to. Ms Cole tells a story direct and to the point, no wasting time with frivolous words to fill a page. I look forward to Jax's story in the next book.

It's okay.

A different outlook for wolf packs. I understand an eye for an eye outlook and how werewolves might think killing humans like game is fair, but werewolves are human too. I'll read the next one to see how it goes.

I usually don't read novellas because of the short length, but decided to give Chloe Cole's "Prey:Montana Wolves" book 1 a lookee, after all it was free. I did enjoy reading it just wish it had been longer...
