Chasing Shadows: A Journey to Love is a beautiful story of self-acceptance. The MMC, Ethan, is relatable throughout the book as he goes through many of the emotions and experiences familiar to anyone who's gone through a tough break-up and struggled to move on.
I did find some parts of the book quite repetitive, but it is incredibly well-written. I also found it quick and easy to read (so much so, I read it in one sitting!).
4.5 ⭐ It was a very interesting book, I loved the style of writing of the author, it was really easy to read and honestly I couldn't put it down. I related a lot to the protagonist and his struggles, I could actually see myself in him and I really liked that! Also I very much appreciated the fact that we got some therapy representation and even if it wasn't one of the main themes (at least from how I perceived it) I thought it was well done. - I didn't give it a 5 star though because in certain parts it was a little repetitive on the main characters doubts and fears.
This short novel tells the story of a man's ups and downs in relationships. In following the main character, Ethan, through his journey of self-healing and finding happiness, the reader is able to see him or herself in his shoes. We have all experienced doubts in romance and have baggage we bring into new relationships. This easy-to-read novel puts those insecurities and uneasiness into cleverly written short chapters, in which a reader can relate.
While this book does seem repetitive at times, I believe this is the author's intent, as it describes the emotional work Ethan is putting in, both for himself, and to help a new relationship be successful. Ethan realizes that there is no perfect relationship and no one can be happy in a relationship until they are happy with themselves. This is a lesson from which we can all learn.
You'll have to read the book to find out if Ethan puts in enough work to find a happily ever after.
I received an ARC of this book from Bookworm Books PR in exchange for an honest review.
I felt that this book repeated itself on several of the same views only different wording. I had a hard time staying interested in reading. It is a good concept for a book but needs a little bit more work
I received this as an arc read and I give this one a 5 star rating and I related to the main character as I have had the same thoughts and I liked that the therapy was included
