Bard and his friends are summoned by a powerful spell to the castle of Martel, Lord of the Realm, where his wizardly advisor tells them about a job he has for them. It's a pretty normal job for a group of adventurers; they have to retrieve a lost, ancient, magical relic. Yes, there's a hoard of evil monsters, but there are always evil monsters. It's true that most who have tried in the past have never been seen again or returned completely insane, but what's life without a little danger? Then there's the ghost.

Not even Bard and his friends are foolhardy enough to tangle with something they can't stab, but then a beautiful sorceress and her companion, an offensive and ugly little gnome, offer their services, and suddenly the impossible prize might be within reach.

You know it's going to be a rough adventure when the hoard of evil monsters is the easy part.

I always enjoy R. K. Goff’s books

Fun and enjoyable! I often laugh out loud. I love quirky characters, and the Bard books have plenty of them!

Gaffes to goosebumps

R K Goff does it again! Short tales can be fun and profound. My hats off to another delightful tale of a not bard name Bard.
