Oh no. I have reached the end of the Svatura series with Black Orchid, Book IV, by Abigail Owen. What a fabulous road we have traveled and I can hardly wait to read more of work.

Black Orchid picks up where Crimson Dahlia left off, so you will want to read these in order.

Adelaide Jenner has lost her love, her te’sorthene, which can drive her mad, and she has become a danger to them all.

Nate, poor Nate, her lost love. He doesn’t even know how messed up his life is, though flashes blink in and out at times.

Can they find their way back to each other? They both deal with confusion, but Nate’s is filled with hate and rage, while Adelaide’s has become filled with trust and caring.

Maddox is still determined to kill all the women, Adelaide, Ellie, Selena and Lila, and he plans to use Nate to do it. These women are strong and determined, and as dragons have tremendous power. But will it be enough?

There are intense personal conflicts with many of the characters, and their powers. They work together as a family for support and to heal, while trying to figure out how to mend their broken hearts and minds.

Black Orchid by Abigail Owen is character driven and not all of them will make it out alive. The losses will be heart wrenching.

Abigail Owen has created an amazing magical world. Scenes played out in my mind, like a movie playing out on screen. The final battle will be fought and even if the story is sometimes predictable, it is an unforgettable and wild ride.

When Adelaide describes the bonds of connections and how she heals them, it made me think of Avatar. Now, that is being in very good company.

I wondered if the finale would wrap it up in a way that would make me happy and satisfied, but, no worries. She more than met my expectations, she surpassed them. The action and fight scenes are described in vivid detail, playing out like a film unreeling in my mind. I, especially, loved the dragon fight finale with Maddox.

At the end of the book, Abigail Owen has explanations for the key concepts, characters and their powers.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Black Orchid by Abigail Owen.

So we find ourselves at the end of the Svatura series, the very first series by the wonderful Abigail Owen. And boy, did she do a bang-up job of an exciting, engaging finale! I am a huge lover of dragons of all sizes, shapes and species. Whether it is a shifter or a natural beast, I adore dragons. It's what attracted me to Abigail's books in the first place! And this series seems to be where her love of writing about them began. This series. It's where Fire's Edge and Inferno Rising began. I Love It!

In this one, our heroes need to get their acts together, or they are going to lose a war that will devastate the supernatural world. Maddox, the series bad guy, is not playing around. So, while this one is mostly about Adelaide and Nate, being the last in the series, you know it's going to include them all. And so it does. How I won't say. But it's typical Abigail Owen style, with lots of action, plenty of heart-rending scenarios and...HEA? Maybe. We'll have to see on that score because I don't do spoilers.

Abigail did a beautiful job of tying it all up at the end, so we weren't left feeling like there were still too many questions out there. For a first series, she did an excellent job indeed. This is probably the hardest part of writing a series; making sure the entire storyline comes to a complete and logical conclusion. Every series, she got better and better at it. But she started so well her improvements ended up being bonuses.

I'm really glad I decided to go backwards and read everything Abigail Owen wrote. It's been a journey worth taking, that's for sure. I'm just finding myself at a loss now, waiting for her next one.

I'm so impressed, Abigail! So wonderfully done, so wonderfully done indeed! Can't wait to move forward again!

On my blog,All in One Place, I gave Black Orchid 6 stars!!!!
I first fell in love with the Svatura nearly two years ago when I was lucky enough to review Blue Violet. Since then I have excitedly waited the release of the next in the series and as I finished Black orchid I was left with a sense of loss, like saying goodbye to old friends.
Abigail Owen has created the four books in this series with consistent brilliance, continuing the theme but still with unique and touching stories. I sat down to read Black Orchid I felt a sense of apprehension; how would the remaining threads of the story tie together (no pun intended!) and would each member receive their happy ending?
Although Nate and Adelaide's relationship - or lack of one- is the focus of the story, each character we have previously met plays an important role - yes, even Alex *sigh*!
In books 1, 2 and 3 the reader has witnessed the evolution of the te'sortherne bond, first with Ellie and Alex, then Selene and Griffin, followed by Lila and Ramsey. In Black Orchid we observe the opposite; the collapse of one, and though we are aware that it has been sabotaged by the Svatura's enemies, watching Adelaide destroyed and in pain is no less unpleasant. While Nate walks out to serve Maddox, Adelaide has first her emotions removed, followed by her memories. As she tries to re-learn her talents she becomes susceptible to her dragon-morph and as she is a danger to her friends and family she removes herself from the Vyusher castle to a remote home in the Austrailian Outback.
It is here that Nate finds her with his task from Maddox to seduce her, capture her and use her as bait for Lila. During the time they spend together they find that Nate is the able to calm Adelaide's dragon and whilst she has no memory of their mated bond and begins to fall in love with him, he fights Maddox's mind control and feels his guilt about his treatment of her surfacing, alongside an admiration and desire.
I hoped for an explosive plot from Black Orchid but did not expect the one Abigail Owen presents us with. This is a story about love, family and the triumph of good over evil, in a fantasy world with shape-shifters and super powers.
Yes, I am sad this series has come to an end, but without it I never would have discovered Abigail Owen and I know that soon she will publish her next round of awesomeness!!!

Have you ever been so shattered inside over the loss of a loved one that going on is simply beyond you? When Adelaide becomes despondent, after losing Nate to the dark side, once again everyone bands together to ease her suffering, but are their methods the best way to go? Will Adelaide and Nate ever find each other again? What lies and betrayals are now standing between them and a love that was meant to be? Is it possible for love of friends, family and that one special person triumph against the odds?

Holy Grand Finale endings to a series! The fourth and final book in the Svatura series, Black Orchid by Abigail Owen is as magnetic as its startlingly beautiful cover. As every other book in this series, Abigail Owen plunged me right into her world. I was shredded, hopeful, felt my hopes falter, held my breath and sighed in relief, rinse and repeat. Abigail Owen can tell a tale, evoke emotions and glue the reader to each page. Her characters have grown, become familiar and are always fighting the good fight against evil. This time out, she has outdone herself with an ending that leaves your heart skittering!

PERFECT ending to a great series..

Once I opened this book, I did not want to close it. It was an emotional read. Imagine losing the love of your life to another. Not just having your heart broken, but ripped in half. A pain so devastating you don't want to live. This is what happens to Adelaide. To help her, Lilia turns off her emotions. When this becomes too dangerous, Lilia and the rest of the gang wipe her memory completely of Nate. I won't tell you anymore in case I give away too much. But I will give you what I loved. I loved that all the friends (Ellie, Alex, Selene, Griffin, Lilia, and Ramsey) worked together in each major battle they fought. I loved the message LOVE CAN CONCUR/OVERCOME ALL EVIL, that nothing/no one can come between LOVE. I am not just talking about romantic love, I am also referring to the love between family. Black Orchid may be written for young adults, but it reads like a clean adult novel. I hated that I had to say good-bye to these wonderful cast of characters, but I liked the ending. (liked not loved because it was bittersweet) I hope that Abigail Owen doesn't stop here with the Savatura series. Hugh and Lucy need a story. The entire Savatura line needs a beginning story. Maybe it's just me, but I don't want to say goodbye just yet.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I am always leery of reading a book that is part of a series I haven't read before. This is one of the few books that can ALMOST be read as a stand-alone. There was a bunch of things, especially in the beginning of the book that I couldn't grasp. However, the author described the world and abilities so well, that I could read the book without being completely lost.
I found the author wrote so well, that not only was I not lost in the end of a series, but that I truly felt for Adelaide and Nate from the very beginning. I may not have understood the term te'sorthene, but I could certainly feel the love and heartbreak between them.
Now, even though I know the end of the series, I still need to read the first 3 books of the series to get the background and truly immerse myself in what has become a spectacular world.

What a great ending to the series. I fell in love with Nate and Adelaide in book one and have been waiting a long time to read their story. To watch two people find love again after, everything they had gone through was awesome. Sad to see the end, but looking forward to reading more in Shadow Cat Nation series from this author Abigail Owen's. Great job!

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

The last installment of Miss Owen's Svatura series was full of twists. I think I even experienced more emotions than Adelaide did throughout the book (and trust me, she goes through a LOT)!

It was nice to finally get to know Adelaide and Nate more. In previous books, they have served as more quiet, reserved characters. Who knew Adelaide had such an attitude...or that Nate loved The Princess Bride so much (who can blame him; it's a great movie!).

All of our favorite characters play a role in Black Orchid, which I absolutely love! The ending was everything I wanted it to be! My only problem is that there wasn't more! I am super sad to bid some great characters farewell. Over the course of this series, I have gotten to know each character more and more with each installment. Even though all the characters are great, I have to say that Lila may be my favorite!

This was a great series full of surprises! I am so glad that I was given the opportunity to read them, and I can't wait to see what else Owen has to offer!

Kind of glad this was the last book in the series because they’re all beginning to follow the same theme. One of the four sisters is in trouble, her te’sorthene is in trouble, sister saves the day with the help of the family, te’sorthene get back together. I was actually surprised Nate and Adelaide were the center of this story because they already were fated.

All four sisters became a dragon mind (like the wolves) and they all defeat Maddox.

Moving reunion romance and excellent final book in the paranormal Svatura series

If you have read the previous books in this excellent paranormal series--and it is essential that you do before reading this book--you already know there were two main relationships from previous books that had huge romantic conflicts remaining to be resolved, Adelaide and her husband and te'sorthene (soulmate) Nate, as well as Griffin and Selene, who are also each other's te'sorthene. This book very satisfactorily resolves both these two romances and the major storyline with the Big Bad of the series as a whole.

Within Black Orchid, there is everything one has come to expect from this talented author: plenty of action involving scary villains; strong, inspiring female leads who offer each other emotional and physical support as tremendous "sister-soldiers" and, best of all, well written romance. I particularly enjoy the fact that this author writes plenty of sexual chemistry while remaining G-rated, such that this series is suitable reading for all ages.

I rate this book as follows:

Main Heroine: 5 stars
Main Hero: 5 stars
Additional Viewpoint Characters: 5 stars
Fantasy World-Building: 5 stars
Romantic Plots: 5 stars
Action-Adventure Plot: 5 stars
Writing: 5 stars
Overall: 5 stars

First I would like to state that I received this book through the Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. I would like to thank the author for giving me this opportunity and honor in being able to read this book. When I received this book I began reading it at once. I really enjoy the authors writing style. I enjoyed the characters in the book and the plot was interesting, I do think that reading the other books in this series before this one would have shed a bit more light on what was happening but I really loved this book! It was very interesting read. Great job!

Excellent, fast-paced story; very hard to put down! Even being 4th in a series, it was a complete story on its own. Now, I'll have to read the first three books as well.
