Bukowski was a trip, and this is expertly researched. Disclosure: my bro wrote this.

This is a short and sometimes dry look at the life of Charles Bukowski. It left me with a lot more questions than answers. For example, I want to know the story behind all of the poems Bukowski left behind when he died. How did he decide what went into that pile? How did he leave them? Directions in his will? Discovered accidentally in a closet after his death? WHAT?

I think I'll skip reading any more Bukowski bios and just stick with reading the man's writing. That tells us more than a biography ever could. I read this as an accompaniment to the Bukowski bio-pic Born This Way which was more thorough and entertaining than this book. Ah, well.

i liked this book because it gave a great visual image on how charles grew up. Also it gives a great visual image on how he was raised. The problem i had with this book was that it was a slow paced book and i'm not a very patient person so that didn't work well for me. i would recommend this book for people who have patience. This book will be hard for you if you're one of those people who want the exciting stuff to happen right off the bat. This book gave me a inspiration and has a great theme behind the story.
