When danger comes to the small town of Woodvalley Pines, Hunter vows to become the protector of local bakery owner, Rachel. But when things heat up, can this firefighter handle the burn?

Rachel was finally happy. She had a place to call home, amazing friends, and a successful bakery. Then her past found her. Now Hunter Campbell was in her kitchen, acting like a caveman. After months of only grunting at her, one little incident, and he has the audacity to tell her she’s not allowed out without him. She couldn’t decide what terrified her more about her new bodyguard – the giant hulk scaring off her customers, or the fire in her belly that made her heart race every time he was near.

Local firefighter Hunter was a man of few words. But if ever there was a time to talk, it was now. Rachel was in danger and there was no way he was going to let anything happen to his stubborn little fairy. It didn’t matter that he’d spent months keeping his distance. Or that she had the power to shatter his heart and then stab him to death with the shards. This was happening. She could bang as many baking pans as she liked. He wasn’t going anywhere. She was stuck with him.

Fighting fires was nothing new to Rachel or Hunter, but surrendering to the heat of the flames was a battle neither of them were prepared for.

Isobel Reed’s stories delight and bring laughter to romance through sizzling dialogue and fast-paced writing. Fans of Hot Stuff by Carly Phillips or Rescue Me by Susan May Warren will love this sassy tale of a caveman fireman and the baker who wins his heart.

Isobel was born and raised in London. While she’s a city girl at heart, she loves daydreaming about running away to a charming small town—though she’s not entirely sure her husband and son would share her enthusiasm for the move. When she’s not writing small-town romantic comedies or growing unhealthily attached to the characters in her books, you can find her reading, chasing after her very active toddler, or attempting to channel her inner domestic goddess in the kitchen (with varying degrees of success).

Known for her witty dialogue and swoon-worthy small-town heroes, Isobel signed with Inkspell Publishing in 2021. The following year, she released Love Tools, the first book in her four-book Bluestone Series. In early 2024, she launched Toasted, the debut novel of her seven-book Love Burns Series, which will roll out over the next year.

Another sweet and swoony romance, filled with humour, banter, and lots of sexual tension as Hunter and Rachel finally embrace their feelings for each other.
I loved that they were both oblivious to the lust and longing that's been building up over the past 9 months that had been painfully obvious to everyone else in town.
When Hunter swoops in to save the day and protect Rachel from the threats against her, it finally gives him the opportunity to be close to her.
Rachel is a little firecracker though and doesn't give in easily. Yes she is painfully attracted to the hunky firefighter who grunts and growls every times he's near her, but she won't be forced into a guilded cage just because he wants to protect her.
Their banter is entertaining, you can feel the heat building between them, and Hunter is determined to protect his sweet Honeybun.
I liked that this also explored both their vulnerabilities, doubts and fears, but together they make a perfect pair.
There must be something in the water at Woodvalley Pines as these delicious protective cavemen just keep on coming, swooping in to save the day and show their woman what they deserve.
This is a fab series filled with wit, swoons, spicy encounters, drama, and hea.

🧁 "If I'd have known I'd be dealing with your damn hero complex, Hunter, there is no way in hell I would've called you"

🧁 "I've waited a long time to taste you"

🧁 "If you think for one second I'm gonna let another man lay a finger on you, you're sorely mistaken. You're mine"

🧁 "Honeybun, you're my light in the darkness"

Baked is the third enchanting book in the Love Burns series by Isobel. This charming small-town romance is set in Woodvalley Pines, where the residents are quirky and love to gossip. I thoroughly enjoy a good romantic comedy, and Isobel delivers that magic through her writing.
Follow the humour, wit, snarky banter, chemistry, and drama in this feel-good story that features engaging characters—one a gruff alpha man who won’t take no for an answer, and the other a frustrated, tray-slamming baker. I absolutely love it. This budding romance sets the town ablaze and then some.
The fun kicks off when Rachel is out of patience with the impossible scowling man and can't decide whether she wants to smack him or kiss him.
Hunter, a local firefighter, knows a thing or two about fires, and the pages heat up as he is determined to keep an eye on the fiery female who sets his heart racing.
This delightful tale had me laughing out loud, and I can’t wait for the next book. If you love a well-written romantic comedy, then look no further than Baked by Isobel Reed.

Firefighter Hunter Campbell has skirted around his attraction for bakery owner and stunning beauty Rachel as long as he can. Now that he finds out her father put her directly in danger, he mans up and tells her he is moving in and her bodyguard for the foreseeable future.

Rachel is not sure what is going on with Hunter. He is not just protecting her but using terms of endearment like "honeybun" when talking to her. As the chemistry between them heats up it is only a matter of time before the feelings between them erupt. Can they find a happily ever after even with the chaos surrounding them?

This is turning out to be one of my favorite series. Hunter is adorable, I liked how he just jumps right in determined with protecting Rachel all the while testing out his feelings for her. Had several entertaining moments. Cannot wait for the next book in the series.

This is the 3rd book in the Love burns series. This is a very sweet contemporary romance which action and danger. As with the others in the series the path to love is never smooth or easy and out couple have to climb hurdles to get their happy ever after. These books can be read as standalones as they focus on different couples, however they are all part of the same friend group so their stories do entwine a little.

This is Hunters and Rachel's story. After dancing around each other for months it takes an appearance and an assault from Rachel's dad to bring this couple together. Hunter knows he wants nothing more then to be with and protect Rachel with his life, however issues from his past make falling in love a risky thing for him.

Rachel hasn't had a easy past either with her mother leaving and her father who always manages to bring trouble in the form of gambling debt to her door.
She doesn't like the thought of Hunter protecting her but when things take a dangerous turn she knows she has to let him.

As they spend more time together they realise that they can't deny their feelings for each other anymore and what follows is a beautiful story of them realising and accepting their love. But things won't be easy and when danger comes calling for Rachel will they be strong enough to survive it or will it tear them apart.

I loved this story and I can't wait to read Luke's story next

Thank you Isobel for letting me read this book ahead of the release date!

I had a really fun time reading Baked; it’s a fast paced and quick read. This is Rachel and Hunter’s story that includes action and danger.

Rachel and Hunter have been dancing around each other for months and they’re finally in front of each other because Rachel’s dad poses a threat to her safety and Hunter wants to protect her.

This sudden shift in Hunter throws Rachel for a loop but Hunter is adamant about keeping her safe. Both have past issues that they have to overcome and over time, they finally let each other in. I loved the banter and chemistry that Rachel and Hunter have throughout the story and a great circle of friends that they are around.

One thing that threw me off was Rachel’s character arc. I found that Hunter’s character was more developed than Rachel’s was.

I really loved the vulnerability that Rachel and Hunter share, the banter, and the pacing of this book.

Overall, I’d recommend this book if you like to read a short, funny, and friends to lovers romance. 👩‍🍳

Look I love myself a small town romance , any book where the setting is a bakery , coffee shop or library so this read was right up my alley but I was really rewarded with our “Hulk ” and “ Honeybun”🥰

Hunter has had his eye on Rachel for quite sometime but for 9 months he’s kept his distance but when her unsavoury father makes an appearance Rachel reaches out to him for help and our alpha grump is spitting fire , he’s so angry …. I’ve got goosebumps already 🤣🙈

Rachel had a tough time growing up but she’s a phoenix and rises from the fates and makes a life for herself and nobody is going to stand by and watch her loose it to her excuse of a father , anyhooo her shop “ Fairybaked” is neon pink so already I just want to be there 🤣🥰is well known for its delectable treats and Rachel is a real honey so people have her back 🥰

Hunter is not only interested in her culinary skills and protecting her he really takes a genuine interest in who she is and I love the banter between them , they had me in fits of giggles on more than one occasion 🤣and Rachel may be tiny but she makes up for it with her sass 😉

While Hunter is in protective mode protecting her from her fathers sins that are hunting her the relationship between us bloating and I chuffed to means I could be part of with their friends and family and these people just climb into heart and own it 🥰

Rachel was happy in her little bakery in town, until her traitorous father found her and threatened her for money. So, as she is shaking in her apartment who is the first person she calls not the police but Hunter.

Hunter has been sweet on Rachel since the first time he laid eyes on her but with his past traumas he has refrained from making his feelings known, until now. He is outraged that she has been put in danger and makes it his mission to protect her.

So as Rachel and Hunter are navigating the situation they have found themselves, the attraction which has always sizzled between them starts to become real and can they stay friends while this is going on or will they both let their true feelings overtake them and light the spark on romance.

This is the third book in this series and although it is a series it can be read as a stand-alone book. Rachel is such a great character as she is feisty and sassy, which is a brilliant opposite for the hulk of Hunter who really has a heart of gold under the gruff exterior.

The Story flows and is short so is a brilliantly light hearted quick read, the secondary characters are just brilliant and hope we get to see more of them in the future.

Baked is book 3 in the Love Burns Series and it didn’t disappoint! The author bought the reader in a world full of love, tenderness, protective instincts, dominance and so much more. Featuring 2 characters that have noticed each but have danced around each other for months. Why is that?
Hunter and Rachel are strong hardworking stubborn people that don’t like accepting help from anyone. However when Rachel called Hunter one night for help all that changed. He made a decision that would change both of their lives. She needed protection plus he wanted her, so his solution was to make her his.
Not understanding the full capacity of the men who were after her, Rachel naturally pushed back despite how she felt. That is until a break in in her apartment drove her right in his arms. Having to convince him that there would be no right time before they would ravish one another.
Of course no story is that easy there are always bumps in the road the question being; will Rachel and Hunter survive those bumps?
Or will the past be their undoing?
All that and so much more are packed tightly into their story. One where you are rooting for them despite everything going on that says otherwise.

Rachel had waited a long time to find the place that felt like home. Woodvalley Pines was home to her wonderful bakery and her even better friends...and Hunter, a sexy local firefighter that only seems to communicate with her through grunts. What neither Hunter or Rachel seem to realize is that they are wildly attracted to one another - but everyone else in their lives was reading the signals very clearly!

After her past pops up and an incident occurs, Rachel calls Hunter for help in a moment of fear and stress. While he gladly comes to her rescue, he reappears after the event to tell her she's no longer able to be left alone and has to have he or his buddies be her bodyguards at all times.

What Hunter didn't realize was that Rachel is no pushover and will not just go along willingly because an INSANELY hot guy barked orders at her. With the typical excellent banter amongst love interests that Isobel Reed always has in her books, it also includes steamy scenes, sex appeal, frustrations, and the guy and girl ending up together. Many laugh out loud moments, a couple of gasps, and constant page turning to see how it all comes together in the best way possible. Enjoy!

Baked is the third book in the Love Burns series by Isobel Reed. I have really been enjoying this series – diving into each new instalment to find out what happens.
It is a fun and witty contemporary romance with a small-town setting, chemistry, spice, some angst, danger, emotion, humour, endearing characters, banter, quips +antics, friendship, community, a feel-good/heartwarming storyline, forced proximity, drama, and finding love unexpectedly.
Rachel’s had finally found her happy place- life was sunny, her bakery was flourishing, and she had a great circle of friends. But the past has a way of catching up with you… which is how danger found its way to Woodvalley Pines, its focus set on Rachel. But tall, gruff, and broody firefighter, Hunter, takes her safety seriously- making it his mission to keep her safe. What’s a little forced proximity between friends? Hunter rubs her the wrong way- or is it the right way- because they sure are throwing off a lot of sparks….
Let the fun begin.
Can’t wait for ‘Hothead (Book #4)…. which is Luke and Bella's story.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Isobel Reed!

Baked is a delectable mix of romance, suspense, and sizzling chemistry that will leave you craving more. Isobel Reed delivers a heartwarming and action-packed story set in the charming town of Woodvalley Pines, where sparks fly both in the kitchen and out of it.

Rachel, a fierce and independent bakery owner, and Hunter, the stoic yet protective firefighter, are a match made in fiery heaven. Their dynamic is equal parts sweet and steamy, with plenty of witty banter and emotional depth to keep you hooked. The tension between them crackles like a fire ready to ignite, and when it does, the result is pure magic.

Reed masterfully weaves a tale of danger and romance, balancing the suspense of Rachel's mysterious past with the heartfelt journey of two guarded souls learning to trust and love. The small-town charm and vivid descriptions make Woodvalley Pines come alive, while the supporting characters add layers of warmth and humor to the story.

If you love a romance with strong, relatable characters, a dash of danger, and a whole lot of heat, Baked is the perfect read. It’s a delicious treat from start to finish!

Baked (Love Burns Series Book 3) Baked by Isobel Reed

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Baked was the first book of Isobel Reed's that I've read. Hunter and Rachel's story was cute. A baker and a firefighter- love at first sight- he falls first AND hard. I enjoyed this quick, cute read. It had a little bit of drama and danger. I love the possessive/overprotectiveness of Hunter with Rachel. I'm now going to have to go back and read the first few books of the series so learn more about Cat & Cody, Libby & Zach and I look forward to reading Luke's upcoming story!

This is the third book in the series and can be read as a stand alone. It is a quick read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I was able to get lost in the story and feel a connection to the characters all throughout the story. The characters do have growth throughout the story. The both have prior issues that they are dealing with and whether they overcome them or not, you feel that they are just meant to be together. You will find yourself feeling all the emotions that the characters are going through. You do get a glimpse of the other characters for the other books in this story so if you haven't read those I highly suggest you do.It just gives you more background information to form a better connection to the reading. There is some suspense and angst but I am here for that. Like I said you will be feeling what they feel while reading this, so maybe stay away from others. lol. jk you might be a little snippy depending on where you are in the story. I can't wait for more and am actually looking for other books form this author. It is a quick read and you won't want to put it down.

Rachel and Hunter have been circling each other for 9 looong months. They each have their reasons for staying away. When part of Rachel’s reason shows up and leaves her with a shiner, Hunter no longer cares about his reasons.

Hunter barges his way into Rachel’s life, sleeping on her couch, hanging out with her at work, being her ride everywhere. Being together that much makes them realize that they should have tried this months before because the feelings run deep. When Rachel’s apartment is broken into, they move to Hunter’s place. It feels like home for both.

Everything is going great until complications of Rachel’s reasons show and Hunter gets shot. Rachel can’t allow her life to affect Hunter’s like this and decides that he is better off without her. Through some soul searching and shots with a best friend, Rachel knows that she must at least explain to Hunter why she can’t be in his life anymore. Hunter does not agree. He believes that they are made for each other. And, he proves it.

This delightful quick read has humor, intrigue, romance, some spice, and a big burly Alpha fireman!! Can’t go wrong with that combination!!

This is the third book in this series which I enjoyed reading just as much as the previous books. This is a series that just keeps getting better and better with each book. This book can be read as a standalone but I highly suggest reading all of the books as they are that great. I enjoy this author’s creative characters that are full of romance and written with heart and soul. This is a story about what happens when the past comes knocking on your door and a local firefighter becomes a bodyguard to a bakery owner. Rachel and Hunter are great characters that heat up the pages and make the story easy to read. They have great growth and chemistry throughout the story that made it entertaining. Their story is fast paced, engaging and hard to put down. What happens with these two is something you don’t want to miss. I enjoyed what they brought to the story and how I wanted to see what happened to them at the end. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more from this series in the future. I highly recommend this book.

I have read a few books from this author and she always knows how to keep you on your toes. This is the third book from the amazing love burns series. You could read this book as a stand alone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was so excited to start this book I dropped everything and started it right away. You are going to fall for these characters right from the start. It only took me a few hours to devour this amazing story. I can't wait to see who she will write about next.

Rachel is very happy with her life. She has the best friends and also her dream job. Rachel owns her own bakery in town. She is always busy and she loves it. When Rachel’s past comes to find her she runs into the arms of the very stubborn: Hunter Campbell. She needs his help since her apartment got broken into. Rachel can’t go anywhere now without Hunter right behind her. She gets to know the real Hunter and that’s when the sparks start to fly. Will Rachel get a happy ending or will her past ruin it all for her?

best one yet!

Baked by Isobel Reed is the third book in the Love Burns series and so far it was my favorite. I’m the kind of woman who definitely likes a man’s man and Hunter is everything that you find sexy about a real man. He’s not sensitive and frilly. He’s tough and has a hard exterior but a heart of gold. I found myself enjoying every time he growled because I could imagine it. I found Rachel to be the sweetest most down to earth woman of the series so far. My heart just aches for all the brokenness that she felt and all of the betrayal she has endured. The author made me cry throughout the story as you saw all of the people who had abandoned her.

I found their love story to be the most realistic of the series, and it had me rooting for them almost immediately. Add in some baking, a few caveman acts which were hysterical, and two people letting down their guard and you have a beautiful and wonderful contemporary romance love story. My only disappointment is that I have to wait for a book for, but I assume it will be well worth the wait.

I loved reading a previous series by Reed and was very much looking forward to her new series. A bit late into this series but it is better late than never! Once again, it doesn’t surprise me that I am immediately immersed into this small town living setting with great characters. This one focuses on Rachel, who is a local baker and feels at a point in her life complete. Unfortunately, the past eventually catches up with us in due time and puts her in harm's way. Hunter, a local firefighter and caveman-like mentality, comes into her life with a bang and not in a good way. Everything Rachel has built for herself is starting to crash down on her. His angle on things is that he is being protective of Rachel and although she despised his presence, he was going to stick around no matter what. Although this is number three in this series, it could be considered a stand alone book but very much fun to read the books from the entire series. Some spice for those who enjoy and overall entertaining read!

Baked (Love Burns Series Book 3) by Isobel Reed. This book is my favorite of the 3 but I've loved them all. This one is especially good because Hot Fireman, need I say more? This is the story of Rachel who has finally found happiness. She owns her own bakery in Woodvalley Pines and is really settling in with friends. Rachel's past is not the happiest, her mom left her and her dad brings more trouble into their lives than anything. When he shows back up in town with trouble in tow, Hunter the local fireman becomes her bodyguard. Rachel is uncomfortable having a bodyguard but boy is Hunter easy to look at. Hunter doesn't speak much but she feels safe when he's there. Hunter is highly attracted to Rachel but Rachel's not having it. She thinks he's grumpy and not boyfriend material. Their attraction is off the charts but keeping Rachel alive is Hunter's main mission. When they finally realize they can't keep away from each other its explodes! Such a great love story.

Baked is the third book in the Love Burns series by Isobel Reed, I didn’t realise when first picked up the book that it was part of a series and I think it would have appreciated it more if I had read the previous instalments to see how the tension between the two main characters had initially developed. However, that didn’t take away my enjoyment if this book. Although the sparks are there from the start it takes the two a little time to give into their feelings for each other, with Rachel not initially appreciating Hunters caveman protectiveness. The author masterfully explores the complexities of their emotions and the challenges they face as they navigate their growing feelings. The supporting characters are well-developed and endearing, adding depth and richness to the narrative.
The writing style is engaging and easy to read, making it difficult to put the book down. Highly recommended for fans of contemporary romance.

Baked is a romance novel about Hunter, a local fireman, and Rachel, the local bakery owner. These two have a history but out of nowhere Hunter stops talking to Rachel, but at the beginning of this story he comes to her rescue after she calls him about her dad. Rachel doesn't have a great relationship with her dad and now people might be after her because of her dad's gambling issues. Hunter has been obsessed with her and has no issue being her protector. The 2 of them agree to an understanding for her safety. However, as most romance stories go, being in such proximity brings them even closer. The problem is both of their pasts. Will they be able to put the past behind them to have happy futures?
I enjoyed this light, quick read. It was a cute romance story with a bit of “intimacy”. I thought the characters were great together, funny, sassy, and just a good blend. I will be interested in reading the next one in the series about their friend Luke!

Prepare yourself because this is a fiery, fast-paced romance that sizzles from start to finish! Right out of the gates I absolutely adored Rachel. She is very relatable, quirky, and perfect for Hunter. The chemistry between them is undeniable, with their playful banter and slow-burn attraction creating an irresistible tension. Hunter’s caveman-like protectiveness contrasts perfectly with Rachel’s feisty independence, resulting in an entertaining and often humorous dynamic. The author successfully blends humor, heat, and emotional depth, ensuring readers are both laughing and swooning as the characters navigate their evolving relationship. If you’re in the mood for a charming, steamy romance with memorable characters and a captivating plot that will leave you eager for more, don’t pass this up!

OMG!!!! I want to start a fire just so I can call a firefighter mine. This story is all about Hunter and Rachel. Rachel owns a bakery and Hunter is a firefighter. The have had this little banter thing going on for a while (like 9 months). Neither of them is aware that they each like each other. Their friends are hoping that they realize it soon though, the girls (Libby and Cat) actually think things having been going on but they haven’t been. Hunter isn’t sure if he should make a move until the day Rachel’s life becomes in endangered. Her “dad” Leo shows up unexpectedly and scares her. Hunter has now determined that Rachel is his and no one will ever hurt her again. This a love story for the ages. There are moments of terror followed by moments of fear, tears, sadness. There are moments of happiness, tears, joy. You will not want to put this book down!!

Can’t go wrong with a Hulk-esque firefighter who comes to rescue the (resistant) damsel. Rachel is in trouble. First from her deadbeat, abusive, gambling drunk of a father- then from the people who might come after her to get to him. Who swoops in to save her? Hunter Campbell. It’s been nine months of the two of them avoiding each other because he is not good at conversation (maybe a little cave man mixed up with Hulk), but when Rachel calls and needs him he immediately comes to help her. What will happen? Will they give in to their feelings? Will the bad guys get the girl?

This book grabbed me in the first chapter and never let go. I love Hunter. The only thing I’m not a huge fan of was the constant ‘honeybun’ and ‘baby’ nicknames. It was in every other sentence he said to her and it drove me a little crazy. Other than that, I loved everything about this story.

Another enjoyable and engaging romance in this ‘Love Burns Series’ of standalone stories, however, I recommend reading them all! Set once again within the small town of Woodvalley Pines this is firefighter Hunter and bakery owner Rachel’s story. When Rachel’s past catches up with her in the place she now calls home Hunter decides to be her bodyguard. However, Rachel is not keen on this idea, especially as Hunter has kept his distance from her and only grunted at her a few times. Telling Rachel she wasn’t ‘allowed’ to go out without him probably wasn’t the best way of offering his protection, but Hunter was determined to keep her safe. I enjoyed the sizzling banter and obvious connection between Rachel and Hunter. Their chemistry came across in the narrative and I was hoping they would get their HEA.

Baked is the third book in the Love Burns Series. I hadn't read the previous books in the series, but I still completely enjoyed the story. Rachel runs the local bakery, but when danger heads her way Hunter steps in to help. There is an instantaneous spark between the two which the two don't want to take on because of their past experiences. Will Rachel and Hunter find their spark and still keep Rachel safe from harm?
The story is well-told and interesting. I enjoyed the back-and-forth banter between Rachel and Hunter. It brought their personalities out and helped the reader get to know both of them better. The story delves into their pasts and how past relationships impact future relationships. The characters are relatable and enjoyable to read. I look forward to going back and reading the other books in the series.

Baked was a great read. I loved reading about Rachel and Hunter. They are both so attracted to eachother but neither has made a move. It has been 9 months they have been thinking of eachother and finally when Rachel calls Hunter for help when she is attacked, that gets things in motion.
Hunter and Rachel cannot fight their feelings for one another when they are living under the same roof. Hunter tries to keep his distance but his honeybun has such a hold on him that he can’t help but act on his desires.
Rachel willingly accepts what he offers until she runs. Yes, she leaves him at his worst and takes off. Will she ever realize what they have is real and what happened wasn’t her fault? Definitely a great read like the rest of the series.

This is book three in the Love Burns series. It is an enchanting romance set in the small town of Woodvalley Pines. This is Rachel and Hunter’s story. It has been a little while since Rachel has settled in this town after jumping from place to place. The attraction between her and Hunter has been there from the start. Hunter, having been burned in the past, has thus far avoided Rachel. When danger from her past comes to town, she calls Hunter for help. Hunter will protect her until his last breath. Will it come to that or can they overcome the hurdles to have their happily ever after? This was a great book filled with danger, laughter and lots of feel good moments. It’s a wonderful addition to this series and can be read as a standalone.

This is the 3rd installment of the Love Burns series but you can definitely read it as a standalone (I did) but you are going to want to go back and read the others! I love series like this that are interconnected but don't rely on each other so wholly that you can't enjoys each installment as an individual. This is Rachel and Hunter's story and it is so cute and lovely but there is danger and destruction that gave it a very nice balance. Reed's writing is fantastic and even though the chapters are on the longer end, I breezed through them because her writing is so fast-paced I couldn't stop reading. I really can't wait for the next installment and while I do, I'm going to go back and read the first two. Happy Reading!
