Geweldig vervolg! En wat een plottwist dat er ineens nog meer point of views waren. Maar gelukkig hoefde we onze darlings Harlow en Oscar niet te missen! En wat is deze verhaallijn ook weer mooi, op naar deel 3 want wat een cliffhanger…

Harlow zit vast in de bunker na een tornado die de ouderlijke boerderij heeft geteisterd. Haar laatste bericht was naar Oscar, daar verklaarde ze haar liefde voor hem, met de gedachte dat het einde in zicht was. Oscar zal haar redde op alle vlakken!
Of is hij tegen de bemoeienissen van zijn ouders, net niet mans genoeg om te buigen en Harlow te kunnen houden?
Max is het nieuwe hoofd van personeelszaken, een kleine vergissing van de Alistairs want ze blijk een bloedmooie vrouw te zijn ipv een man!
David Alistair is onder de indruk en merkt dat er iets niet pluis is met deze vrouw. En zijn vermoeden klopt, maar op een heel ander gebied dan dat hij oorspronkelijk dacht. Ze heeft zijn hulp hard nodig, zelf zijn bescherming!
Blijft de familie Alistairs steeds maar in moeilijke parketten en vaarwateren komen of kan er eindelijk eens wat achterover geleund worden?
Het verhaal gaat verder na Sappige, de familie Alistair laat zich gelden op allerlei vlakken. Ze zijn niet van het makke soort en dat geeft vuurwerk, spanning, drama, passie en romantiek.
Nieuwe personages maken hun intrede en het geeft weer een andere dynamiek in het verhaal. De getraumatiseerde Max geeft de lezer de nodige kopzorgen en angsten ( triggerwarning: mishandeling!)
David laat voor haar zijn zachtere en zorgende kant zien! Hij is gefascineerd door haar en zou dingen doen die zelf strafbaar zijn om haar te behoeden voor…
Sanne van Ooijen trekt je in dit tweede deel dieper in het Alistair imperium! Ze weet me weer erg met verhaallijn & personages in de greep te houden! Steamy romance met toch actie en de nodige spanning.
Het was weer genieten van elk hoofdstuk, maar toch ook weer een klein frustratieke door die cliffhanger!!
Het is nog niet gedaan, de Alistairs hun verhaal is nog niet klaar, hop naar deel 3!

Emerald.

I got lured in the second book with a cliffhanger of the first. A little trick van Ooijen does often in her series.
And just like her other series, I devoured the second book.
I also like the FMC and MC here a bit more. Or let me say, David feels more real than that Oscar did.
I also like Max, not perse more than Harlow, because Harlow might have been a profitable and classic FMC she still was cute enough for me to keep reading.

The story doesn’t start with a new narrative, it’ proceeds after the cliffhanger, and after that all mayhem broke lose with Allistairs family. Frustrated I kept reading, I mean the way Van Ooijen portrayed the Rich and above family, is kinda a cliche picture we want to have about rich families. That they feel themselves above the others, that assets and appearance are more important than family and love. Luckily, she detoured from that and let the family connect again before the narrative of the others started.

Where I was a bit bored by the spice scenes of book one, got the first scene between max and David me all in the feels! Hot and warm feels I should add.
Also their story got a bit more tension and excitement and of course this one ended yet again with a cliff hanger. Luckily for me, I have them all four.

Typical of Oscar and his uncontrollable self to be the one to expose him and Harlow, though it was only a matter of time. I had secondhand embarrassment for Harlow. What a huge scandal! Oscar’s anger is so bad. I’m just happy the whole scandal surrounding their relationship was a quick fix and Harlow’s name was restored.
I also liked that we got to hear David’s POV in Chapter 13. The brothers claim they were quite close, so I can understand David’s jealousy, especially given his past relationship, but I can’t understand him going all out to ruin someone’s life. David and Max… very interesting pair. 👀
David and Oscar seem to share that need to always be in control. I’m interested in exploring Benjamin, who seems to be the kind and gentle one. Overall, this was an interesting read.
On to Diamond!!

I started this book to conclude the cliffhanger from book 1, and stuck around until the focus shifted from Oscar and Harlow to David and Max.

I wasn’t invested in the primary pairing to keep reading the series, and I had no interest in David’s character at all.

Deel 2 was opnieuw genieten! Mooi vervolg en leuk dat we nu ook meer over David te weten komen. Gezien het spannende einde moet ik natuurlijk gelijk door met deel 3
