The Pack

Rate this book
Fans of detailed world building and paranormal movies and TV shows like Underworld, Twilight, and True Blood will be drawn into this addicting series.

Charlotte has finally found her place and settled into the Thunderhead werewolf pack in backwoods Alaska. She’s spent the past year happily working as a tracker, spending her downtime with her best friend and roommate, or catching up with her mentor. While there is still plenty of blood magic in the forests, and rogue wolves keep appearing all over the state, for the first time in a long time, her life feels safe. But then the surprise arrival of someone new turns the world she’s grown to love upside down.

Faced with new challenges and truths that make her question everything around her, Charlotte wonders if it’s possible to protect the people she loves while also following her heart. She decides she has to try, but her every attempt at happiness is derailed as the threat of the rogue wolves and an old enemy loom. As Charlotte continues to dig deeper into what’s happening, battle lines are being drawn and a final epic fight seems inevitable.

The Pack is the third book in the Moon Blood Saga and continues Charlotte’s epic journey that began with The Bite and continued in The Hunt.

“The Pack” is a part of the Moon Blood Saga series. This book has a little bit of everything in it. It has romance, suspense, werewolves, magic and fantasy vibes to it! It’s about a girl named Charlotte that finally feels safe and comfortable in the werewolf pack of beautiful Alaska. However, something out of nowhere occurs and she is faced with challenges that she has to endure. I really liked the female main character of this book and I felt what she was feeling throughout the book. This book had vivid descriptions, which I found helpful. Does this story have a happily ever after ending or will she start gaining enemies and everything in her life start to crumble? Even though I felt like this book wasn’t original, I found it to still be a fun read. The thesis is clear and the book was well executed. Overall, I rate this book a 3 out of 5 stars!

Thank you to NetGalley, author Z.W. Taylor and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for this digital advanced reader’s copy in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book is set to be published on July 22, 2025!

thank you netgalley + publisher for this arc read, in exchange for an honest review 🥰🌲🏔️🐺🪻

i’m three for three on the blood moon saga arc reads. the worst part about receiving this arc is that i finished it in a day and now i have to wait who knows how long until book 4. i hate my life. why didn’t i pace myself? i did this to myself.

this saga will forever be my most anticipated books. i’ve been on the edge of my seat to read just how the books have changed from the original wattpad series. it’s so rare to be able to experience your favorite series for the first time again. and i am so ecstatic to have the chance to do just that.

for the newbies just diving into this series- zw has done a fantastic job at building such a vivid and emotional universe. too often i find myself feeling charlottes emotions, heart racing, anxiety creeping in, and some blushing ;)) the dynamic she has created between characters feels so raw and genuine. while there is found family relationships, i think zw does a fantastic job at diving into the complexities of these relationships, without romanticizing them.

for my OG the bite girlies- this book shredded my soul. i wasn’t sure i was in for, and i fear no one could have prepared me for the twist that zw threw on us 😵‍💫😵‍💫 BILLY WAS ONE OF MY MOST BELOVED CHARACTERS IN THE OG 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 the betrayal. the hurt. it’s unforgiving. you’re on my shit list, z 😡😡😡 (jk. i love you. i’m just hurt and grieving.) knowing that we were finally getting the everette siblings in this book, i was so antsy to see what she chose to do with their characters. i feel like in the original everything felt so easy going and perfect with their relationships, so while the hostility gave me whiplash, i grew to really appreciate how much more real ethan, evan, and lina felt. the hurt they experienced, the anger they feel toward levi. i love that z didn’t sugar coat any of it. it made it so much easier to really invest myself into their dynamics. ALSO JACKSON + ETHAN BEING TOTAL BFFS 🤢😩😭🥰🤪 dynamic duo. we love to see it.

overall, i am so so happy with the progression of this story. the pacing feels so much more natural and less drawn out than the originals. i can’t wait for book fourrrrrr

In comparison to the original works, this book differs the most from the previous plot. While the general plot stayed the same, a lot of smaller characters and events changed tremendously- it was a big shock at first that I didn’t know how to feel about until I figured out that both works should be seen as separate works so that’s what I have decided to see it as.

In the two previous works Charlotte has escaped from an abusing relationship, found a new family and friends, became stronger and started loving herself again. The pacing of the two previous books was perfect - the first book focused on her transformation and acceptance of the new state she found herself in, while the second book explores further her individualism, her friendships and the acceptance within the pack. Both books were stellar - I thought the pacing was very engaging and I finished the books in one seating. Cannot recommend them more!

The problem arises with the third book - „The Pack”. I enjoyed it, though the biggest issue (other than plot changes which I will explore later on) for me was the pacing - the general intrigue was introduced in the first book, explored further in the second, and suddenly investigated, strategised and finished in the third. The plot was rushing in a way I don’t think it was necessary - I believe if the third book was divided into two books it would have made a lot more sense, would have had a better plot engagement, had better character development and generally would have been much clearer.

I cannot understand how the pacing changed so suddenly. I thought it was perfect with the way the two books were written and genuinely I don’t understand why it couldn’t be divided into two books - the plot and characters certainly require it. I think what really helped with the book is the fact that unread the original works few times so I know the plot and characters well. That being said, although I think due to the immense amount of plot changes from the original those works should be seen as separate, I will still compare aspects I think could have been explored or developed.

1) Charlotte’s personality.
We meet Charlotte as a woman running away from an abusive ex, finding an inner strength and battling her demons. In the second books we find out how strong she is and how much she starts to acknowledge it. In the third book we know that she’s very strong due to the previous reads, but we don’t see it as much - her character development is not progressing much as the focus is more on the quick advancement of the plot.
In the original works she was so stubborn. It was a big flaw but it was something I loved the most about her. She would always fight for her way, she would make mistakes, she would sometimes act before she thinks, but she would never give in. Now, I don’t think there is something wrong with submission but Charlotte here is so much different from Charlotte we knew - and frankly the one from the previous books. Charlotte was stubborn, rough, tough - she was like a stray cat in an alley used to fighting her way out. It was so human to see those traits and they are just gone.

2) Just Ethan
One of the things that changed the most. Let’s just begin that this Ethan is not the Ethan we know - so many traits have changed within him that it’s just not the same character. I could understand if it was to make significant plot changes but it appears like hes changed so much just to further advance the plot.
A big thing about him was that he was running from his fate. He was grieving his family, was guilt-ridden by thinking he is stealing his brothers pack, was overwhelmed by having to question loyalty of his friends/family. He was also so stubborn and lived in denial but thats what made him such a great character because he was so human. His inability to at first commit to the pack intrigue made him weak but that’s why his character development was so great. I couldn’t help but root for him as a character, as frustrated as he made me.
This Ethan is perfect. In a bad way. He is already so supportive of Charlotte without ever having any real personal problems (e.g. delayed mating - not that the previous Ethan was unsupportive but we could see points of frustration). We learnt of the Rouges intrigue because he is already on it and practically solved everything - there is no character development in him learning to lead the pack, coming into his role, fighting for his people. He is essentially giving us the plot on the silver platter.
Why can’t he have flaws? Why can’t he be weak sometimes? Those elements were the things that made me fall in love with this book which made the characters so human in comparison to all the stone hearted strategy geniuses alphas.
His weakness is his biggest strength as what he was lacking is what becomes his biggest virtue.

3) Charlotte and Ethan.
They get along and are happy and in love since the beginning. I literally cannot recall any conflict they had - the only thing was that she was delaying the „mating” but I wouldn’t even classify it as a conflict.
Originally, they were both so stubborn and often did things their own way, which created miscommunication but that the beauty of it - those are the things they had to overcome together. And they did and that’s why I keep going back to those books because their love was so sincere and so earned. They both came at their mating bond with intense feeling but lack preparation and they learnt to trust each other. The way their relationship was written was beautiful.
In this book there are no challenges or problems. I keep reading and waiting for something to happen and just nothing happens.
It’s a talent to write a flawed relationship and show it can be mended through love and trust, and you have done it so skilfully before! I cannot understand why their relationship is so bland.

4) „Damn Thorne’s”
One of the things everyone loved the most were the characters. They were funny and personable. All the packs felt very much like communities of everyone caring for each other and now there is basically no pack but just few people working together. It’s those things like characters bickering, a character making a stupid joke, or people always saying „Damn Thorne’s” as an on-going silly reference to a family line. All those small bits were thing people loved a lot and it’s just not here.

5) Pacing
I already wrote about it a lot but. All those things above seem to be a consequence of heavy editing and cutting of the book. It feels like fragments and characters were deleted just so the content fits within one book. The thing is - the story suffered the most because of it. Characters are always grumpy to provoke a plot point instead of creating it, events are outlines and described by characters instead of us seeing them discover it in real time. So many things are simplified for no good reason. I seriously cannot understand why the pacing changed so much and how it impacted the whole book.

6) Queer characters
This probably should have been the first point, but it’s too late for me to re-format it, but I hope you understand that thats one of the most important things to me.
One of my favourite „quite” parts of the original books were Ryder and Remi. A gay mating bond of two tracker characters from different packs that was underdeveloped but everyone still always shipped them and looked for them. I would understand changing some thing around the plot, but the thing is - the only werewolf queer relationship has just been removed for no good reason. Instead of Ryder now there is a girl (can’t reminder her name, sorry) and thank god she is not actually Remi’s mate! Because that would have been insane to switch a gay couple for a straight one. Of course, we have more books coming but so far it appears that Remi is straight (or at least there are not sexual or romantic interactions with men). So it’s one thing to delete a gay relationship if for some reason it could help the plot, but you have decided to just make a queer character not queer for no point. So I will just put it plainly - you have deleted any of their queerness for no good reason of plot changes.
As a queer person that makes me so uncomfortable. I genuinely wondered whether I should just stop reading the book but I decided to finish it instead so I can write a well-informed review of the book outlining this problem. I cannot state enough how hurtful it was to me as a queer person to discover that the generally liked queer couple has been swapped and deleted for no clear plot changes. And just because the author decided to.

Probably a lot of mistakes as I wrote too much to want to proof read it BUT. let us move on!

We find ourselves in the neighboring pack because our girl has found her true mate! Except this pack is giving super culty vibes.

My main issue for not giving this 5 stars is cause I wanted more from Charlotte and her getting over her exs trauma. I know it's been 2 years but after putting Liam on a pause (omg we never got Liam closure) I wanted to see some PTSD or even some conversation between the 2 of them but other than her randomly blurting it out to everyone in the room and them just taking it "slowly" I felt we were just kinda gaslit into them being perfect for each other. Which they were I guess! This book was more focused on the mystery solving and politics which is fine and I loved the details but dang I needed just a bit more closure.

Also her leaving behind Levi/Derek makes me feel some type of way. Like why not just combine packs or live closer then? Idk it just makes me feel sad but it isss what it issss. She should be pack lead actually. That would make me happy.

I need another book either way. Charlotte was a horrible friend for not realizing Andrea was in trouble like at all. But thank god that I predicted that reveal at the end and somebody ended up being there for her. Like godamn can't a woman catch a break!

Charlotte has spent the last year in the Thunderhead pack as a
Tracker with her close group of friends. However with the arrival of wolves from another pack, her life is about to be spun on its heals and forever changed. This brings more to the forefront of what is going on with the rogue wolves that have been found in the forest and she is going to have to face her fears and use her unusual talents to uncover the truth.

These books are not at all well written, but I do have a good time reading them. The pacing is weird, the story has major holes, it’s very predictable, but also a fun story to read.

Thank you NetGalley and Wattpad for this ARC!

A huge thank you to W by Wattpad for the free book! All opinions are my own.

💭 My thoughts

In this new edition to the Moonblood Saga, our girl Charlotte falls in love (while also trying to figure out what the heck is going on, which same). This has been my favorite book in the series by far. While the pacing could be off at time, and there are a LOT of characters to keep track of, the thrilling plot and endearing characters well make up for it (the adorable romance helps as well). Filled with love, betrayal, and just the right amount of action, The Pack is a book definitely worth considering.

The Pack, the third installment in this series, can be read as a standalone as well. However, I recommend reading the first two books to fully immerse yourself in the story. If you enjoy werewolves, witches, and vampires, then this book is for you. The series primarily focuses on the werewolves and their lives within packs. Initially, I found the book a bit slow-paced, but it gradually gained my attention and kept me engaged until the end. I thoroughly enjoyed the writing and hope there will be another book in the series.

Thanks, W, for the review from Wattpad Books via NetGalley.

It's been a while since I've read the first two book in this series so even though I was very excited to read this book I was a little nervous on his I would get all caught up again. However I shouldn't have been so worried because once I started this book it was like being greeted by an old friend. The plot captivated me instantly and I was once again thrust into the world with Charlotte and Liam. The only criticism I have from this book was the way it was written. While I loved the plot the execution was a little sloppy almost like it was written by a friend and not an actual author so that was a little disappointing at times. However the characters really pulled me into this story despite that. I loved the concept of this story if not the execution. The characters in this novel are really fascinating and the connection that Charlotte and Liam have never ceases to amaze me. Everytime I got close to shutting this book the author talked about their bond and it pulled me I'll like a magnet. Then about a quarter of the way through the book I really got invested. So it starts out as a bit of a slow burn however when it ignites it really burns. Really good read with just a few small negative comments in the beginning but overall I enjoyed reading this book and if our author writes another one I can't wait to see what it will be like. I loved all of the urban fantasy elements that are rampant in this book. What does genre that really gives the reader freedom to do whatever they feel I believe that the author was a very true to werewolf lore that I've read previously all the while making it her own. Check out this book if you want a nice simple werewolf read however I do suggest reading the first few in the series before hand to give you some much needed background information. I think if you go into this book blind it won't be as appreciated or pack quite the same punch to the read as if would have if you had more information.

*ARC (book will be available July 22, 2025)

First, thank you NetGalley, Wattpad Publishing, and Z.W. Taylor for allowing me to read an ARC of The Pack and all the previous books as well! Getting to see an indie author from the beginning grow with their series has been such a joy and I’m truly grateful for the chance!

Z.W. Taylor, you make me wait so long, but every time I realize how worth it, it was! This book and all your others are so beautifully written and so deeply relatable it’s absolutely incredible to read!

Book 1, we get trauma and lots of it. Not only is charlotte running, but she’s also grieving. It was very poetically written the discussion of abuse and survival.

Book 2, gave us a woman trying to rebuild her life. Form connections that she thought all but lost in her previous life. It showed us strength when you were beaten down to feel like you were weak. It gave us a challenge that defied the odds and a new look on life.

Book 3, this book has truly been my favorite because now I get to see love built. Charlotte for the past two years has been rebuilding herself and learning to love who she is without someone contradicting her and making her feel small. Now we get to see her still learning to be okay with herself and her new found strength AND having someone else love and see her!

Book 3, wasn’t all love and romance though that was maybe 20% of the book. No, what made this book great, was now we are being taken on a giant mystery full of schemes, deception, murder, and a lot of twists you didn’t see coming. Taylor has set book 4 up to be the ride of our lives and I can’t wait for it!!!

Update: This book is a trilogy, so the end left me hanging just a little, but overall still give it a 4.5 out of 5!

Rating: 4.5/5⭐️
Spice level: 1.5/5🌶️
TW: murder, sexual content, language, reflection of past trauma, abuse, torture, gore, hearing voices

Looking for your next gritty, emotional, supernatural binge? This series is packed with heart, trauma healing, fierce heroines, and just the right amount of werewolf chaos.

🐺 The Bite introduces us to Charlotte, a woman running from her past and straight into the claws of something darker. Hiding out in Alaska, she’s attacked by a werewolf and her life changes forever. With vampires, shapeshifters, and a found family she didn’t see coming, Charlotte’s story is raw, wild, and full of survival.

⚔️The Hunt shows a new Charlotte stronger, bolder, and ready to fight back. With danger on all sides and monsters, some literal, some not closing in, she learns what it really means to protect what you love. Quick pace, high stakes, and yes, still plenty of emotional chaos.

🐾The Pack brings it all home. Just when things start to feel safe, a new arrival shakes everything up. Old enemies return, battle lines are drawn, and Charlotte’s heart is caught right in the middle. It’s about loyalty, hard choices, and the cost of standing your ground.

If you love werewolf lore, found family, strong female leads, and supernatural drama that tugs at your emotions, this series absolutely delivers.

⚡️Thank you Wattpad Books and Z.W. Taylor for sharing these books with me!

The third installment in the Moon Blood Saga series, The Pack, is just as addictive as the previous books. Charlotte is finding her footing in the pack and as a tracker. She is becoming the strong, confident woman she always knew she could be. And then rogues, an unexpected romance, and teaming up with a new pack turn her world upside down.

Charlotte has found her place and is killing it as a tracker. But she continues to hear voices in the forest and doesn't know how long she will be able to keep it a secret. When rogues begin to become a frequent threat, she has to team up with the Hemlock pack. And she gets a huge surprise in a new love interest. Ethan is so charmin,g and I love them together. Levi is a bit hesitant to let Charlotte be on her own, but he knows how important it is for her to make her own decisions and always has her back.

There are so many unexpected moments that made me smile, gasp, and flip through the pages eager to know what happened. I love that about this series; I love how engaging the story is making me excited as a reader. A must-read for fans of paranormal suspense.

Firstly, I want to thank Z.W. Taylor and her team for my first ever ARC! I’ve followed Z.W. Taylor for several years on wattpad where I first discovered her and her works. I fell in LOVE with “The Bite” series that quickly became a comfort read. (Insert fan girl squeal lol)

Review:
“The Pack” is the third installment of the Moon Blood saga so you have to read the first two before this one. This book in the series is where the romance starts. Swoons over Ethan 😍. Spice level I would rate 🌶️ out of 5. There were a couple of typos, but every book has them didn’t bother me. Loved the flow of her writing style.

This is also where those bits and pieces of the plot in book one and two start to come together to form a much bigger picture of what’s going on. That charlotte, Ethan, and their friends will all have to come together to figure out what’s happening to their packs in the present and what happened in the past. One thing is for certain this isn’t the end, it is only just beginning.

The Pact
Moon Blood Saga continues with the third book “The Pact” following our main character Charolette she survived the bite the hunt and now it’s time to show who she really is in the pack. The blood magic is still in the forest With new adventures new magics who know what’s out there? The rogues? Enemies so close by can she trust her own Thunderhead Pack. Charolette needs answers she diggs for the truth battle we’re drawn in one final epic battle.

Rating 3.5 ⭐️

Although it didn’t have the same effect as the first book I very much enjoyed reading The Pack seeing Charolette develop after her past trauma giving her a second chance. I love the addition to new magical creatures. The adventures and betrayal I did not see coming. Sad to see the Moon Blood Saga ending.

I can’t wait for the next one. I was reading Taylor’s books back on Wattpad when she first started publishing. I loved the first “The Bite” book. I thought it was rushed, but my overall opinion of it was really great. I was not interested in the rest of the series because of how rushed and packed it seem to be. But from what I can tell this new editing series that she’s doing is wonderfully done. The pacing is basically the entire first book where the first three books in the new edited version. And everything was so great. I was also really really happy that my favorite scene from the original Wattpad story was in the books that were recently published. (the part where she runs up a tree after seeing her mate.) overall I think the storytelling is really well done especially in the edited version. And I just can’t wait for the continuation of this author’s works.

I’m probably closer to a 4.2 ⭐️ on this one but also it’s difficult, because this installment is truly different than the first two books, the story takes such a different turn and so much is going on and it’s much more romance forward vs the first two having almost no romantic aspects. This series is a 5 star series for me, I love being in Alaska with Charlie Girl in the woods and discovering myself as a wolf with her, if you like to escape into fantasy, folklore, and overcome your demons, you will love this series. Major empowerment energy. I expect we will see a TON of amazing works from ZW Taylor, this is only the beginning really. Please send us book 4 asap 🥺🐺

I am such a huge fan of this author. I am absolutely obsessed with this book series!

This was a wonderful continuation of the story. The characters have evolved further giving me even more things to love. As well as bringing in new characters that expand this world and enhance the reading experience. There’s more people to love and more forrest to explore.

Though this story ripped out my heart ! I accept it and allowed the author to put it back together again while itching for more. I cannot wait for whatever this author writes !

I was lucky enough to get an arc for this book! I have been obsessed with this series since the first book came out. If you haven’t read them I cannot recommend them enough. This series is more fantasy than romance so if you only like books with a heavy romance aspect this isn’t for you. I read this last book in less than 24 hours. I’ve read a lot of books and this series will remain one of my favorites!

I love stepping into this world every time I read one of the books in the series. The Pack is no exception. Each book, Charlotte grows and learns more about herself and the world she is in. This one has mystery, tension, and a little bit of spice. I can't wait to see what ZW will bring in the next one (please write a next one!).

I think this might be the best book in the series so far. I cried, I was utterly gripped as the plot unravelled. I found the relationship with Charlotte and Ethan very natural in the way in developed and I love the cast of characters. I am utterly terrified and gripped about where this series will go!

The only issue here was I've read this plot so many times before that there was nothing surprising here.
If actually seemed to be trying too hard as well, but then maybe that's because of the aforementioned.
These days I want to be blown away by originality and if you do too, this may not be the book for you either

Got an ARC from Net Galley
I remember reading this book series on Wattpad and really liking it there. This one I believe removes from the charm from that but was still an interesting read. I think I would have rated it higher if not for the nostalgia

amazing

I first read this author in Wattpad. She’s such an amazing author. The twist and turns in this book had me shook. I am so ready for the next book. Can’t wait to see the journey Charlotte and Ethan will continue to go through. To read about new and old characters.

Been following this author since the old Wattpad days, the third book in her series finally came out and I loved the storyline and characters just as much as I did back then! Still holds the same impact even though the plot is mostly the same with a few new twists and turns.

awesome!

Once again Z.W. Taylor nailed it! I have loved this whole series! They were great and have flowed so well together! I literally waited a whole year on this book to come out and pre-ordered as soon as I could! If you like shifter books, this one’s for you!
