A great era of Superman as he entered into the new millennium. Collecting stellar stories from the industries best writers like Jeph Loeb, Joe Kelly and artists like Doug Mahnke and Ed McGuinness. Every story arc is a joyful admixture of classic silver-age sci-fi stories, 90's adrenaline focused art, and an emphasis on the wholesome and endearing themes and characterisation of Superman. If you are a fan of Superman from James Gunn then this particular era will be a great jumping on point. For long time Superman fans who may not have read this era then why wait and get your hands on some fantastic comics.
A wide variety of stories that range from pretty good to great, with some mostly just okay art with some Ed Mcguinness art. I found myself chomping at the bit to get to the next mcguinness issue. Most of this is really fun and then an issue here and there that feels like a bit of a slog, but I really think it’s just the nature of the beast when you have 4 different titles and creative teams trying to tell a cohesive story.
Nothing earth shattering in here, but if you need a Superman fix these are a fun light read.
