Very possibly the best omnibus comic I’ve read this year. Nightwingis hopeful, action-packed, technicolor superheroics. Even the event tie-ins and crossovers are exceptional and don’t at all interrupt the flow of the narrative.

Consider me UBER excited for both the second volume of this run and the Titans omnibus. Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo are absolute superstars.

since i can't rate an entire run of an author on this app, this review goes for the entire tom taylor run on nightwing. it isn't as bad as people say, but i do see the criticism. the way taylor writes nightwing is as if it were a web comic personality where the bat family goes out to top golf or some shit. dick grayson becoming a super public figure also kinda doesn't make sense since he looks identical to nightwing but i digress. i really liked heartless at first and was interested to see where he'd go as the runs main villain, but he was super uninteresting and his defeat felt super mellow. the ONLY reason i was so attached to this run was bruno redondos incredible incredible art that kept me hooked through each page.

NIGHTWING : 'Leaping into the Light', Vol 1, collects individual issues 1-6 of a very fantastic new story arc for Dick Grayson, aka, The Boy Wonder, aka, Robin.

Taylor's excellently paced stories here take on Dick's [NIGHTWING's] approach to settling the dirty, unjust crimes stewing within the city of Blüdhaven.

*Imo, HEARTLESS may just be the sickest bastard in comics right now*

The backstory on Dick's beginnings with his circus family, The Flying Grayson's, greatly segues into the now adult NIGHTWING's superhero-like abilities, and, his own personal familial drama. Also, quite thrilling to see how Dick balances his personal vendettas against crime syndicate overlords with his own newly found financial wealth.

The idea of bringing into the fold well remembered comic Superhereos made this much fun to read, and kept me flippin' the pages.

Stellar graphics by the entire Art team on this project! Very much looking forward to the next volume.

What a fricking fantastic ride this omnibus has been. I have to say this, I love Dick Grayson's personality. The only other time I have read stories about adult Dick Grayson is when he played Batman for a bit in the Black mirror. Man showed us a fun Batman. Here his personality is front and center which reflects on all the relationships he has - the titans (who always has his back), best friend the flash (wally west) , superman and Jon (superman inspires Dick Grayson as a kid and Dick in turn inspires superman's son,Jon), Barbara Gordon (Dick and Barbara are adorable together and what i always wanted batman and catwoman to be), his brothers (red hood and the Robins) and finally his father figures (Bruce and Alfred).

Bludhaven is a more grounded Gotham which keeps the stories more grounded (as ground as a city with villains like block buster and heartless can be) which is a good break from the fantastical elements of Batman and Gotham (not a bad thing).

Throught the omni you get to see stories of Grayson's past and how that influences him as a adult and what he inspires to be.

The stories here are only trumped by the artwork. What can I say - Bruno Redondo has knocked it out of the park. The panels ..the colors ..each page is a masterpiece and reference material for anyone inspiring to draw comics (me included). I have put in a few spreads that I loved here. Sony's spiderverse movies ...seeing the art here felt like watching that movie. I cant explain it any other way.

A lot of people complain about the thickness of the omnibus but I disagree! The stories shown here covers a fulll ARC which makes u feel like u just finished watching part one of a great trilogy. It starts and stops at the right place making you satisfied but wanting more.

If I really want to nitpick and find things I didn't like . It would that some background research is needed before starting the story. I am not actively reading everything batman that comes out and was not aware of some of the history. Where in the timeline are we in this story? For example , Alfred pennyworth is dead! I am not sure if this is even a spoiler coz this information is what the story starts with. I have no idea about superman's son, Jon. Dont even know how Dick and Wally are such good friends. But that being said I was easily able to make some assumptions and enjoy the story.

One gripe I had was Melinda zucco, I have trouble accepting how she fits into Dick grayson's story. That felt a touch forced to me. Also blockbuster felt like a discount Kingpin. Other than that this book get a 10/10 .

Really excited for vol 2 and where they go with Mr. Heartless.

I’ve been reading comic books for 20 years and this is undoubtedly in my top 5 collections. Dick Grayson is a shining light in Blüdhaven, Nightwing is iconic, Haley was a lovely addition, and the evolution of Dick and Barbara’s relationship was a highlight. Don’t even get me started on the letter Dick receives, comics don’t typically get me emotional, but this was a welcomed exception.

Tom Taylor is unequivocally one of the greatest comic writers of all time and Bruno Redondo’s art is exquisite! I’d recommend this duo’s Nightwing run over any other in this character’s great history. Which is the highest compliment I can provide, given Nightwing is my favorite character in all of comic books.

Holy cow! This! This is a book for those us who truly love Dick Greyson and Nightwing. I still have my issues from back in the mid-90s when he moved to Bludhaven and those are some of my favorite comics of all time. The comics collected in this omnibus may be even better. It really is a love letter for one of the greatest heroes in the DC pantheon written by someone who truly gets him.

Been in love with Nightwing since Teen Titans and I stopped reading after they shot him and he lost his memories. I heard great things about this run and I picked it up and finished it all super fast. Best Nightwing series so far. It got me back into comics :)

A stunning reinvention of Nightwing that combines heart and humour with traditional heroism. The story follows Dick Grayson as he steps out of Batman's shadow, embracing his role as Blüdhaven's protector while grappling with the legacy of his past. The dynamic between Dick and his chosen family is the core of this run, making it as much about personal growth as it is about intense action. The art is fluid and energetic, bringing the vibrancy of Nightwing's acrobatics to life with a unique style.
