Rate this book
Spurred on by the desire to forge his own destiny, Prince William Derry seeks to complete his bounty hunter training by taking out a strategic target on the edge of the star system that could quell the undercurrent of uprising against the Torrian Alliance. To do so, he must collaborate with objectionable characters and trust his wits rather than his training in an effort to gain his father’s confidence. His resolve is tested when he is forced to make a decision that threatens to shatter the foundation of his identity, risking not just the mission, but the lives of those involved.
Follow Prince William’s origin story into bounty hunter status in this prequel to the incredible Protostar, the first novel in the Star-Crossed Saga.

Really great prequel/novella! It's hard to write something short with great pacing and enough detail, but Braxton is a talented writer who delivers. This book gives us some background information on Prince William from the Star-Crossed Saga and helps readers to understand what happened before the prince was sent on an assignment to Earth. It also shows his relationships and cultural makeup, which both play a role in who he is as a person and as a bounty hunter. Lots of cool characters with depth, and a generous amount of action to keep the plot moving forward. Highly recommend for YA/Sci-Fi lovers.

So glad I took the time to read this. Now I'll have to check out Protostar. Broken Prince is extremely well-written and, the best word that comes to mind is 'vivid'. Like the cover (love, love, love the cover), the writing/world building is sharp and richly detailed and carries the reader through William's quest for indep. and his desire to follow his own path and also the pull of obligation, which leads him to prep for his mission in Protostar. Very well done. And again, that cover-WOW.

Great prequel

I read Protostar and Supernova before I read this prequel. The prequel answers a lot of questions about how and why William took on a mission. It was also a great look at his father's true feelings. So many questions answered. This is great as a companion to his other two books.
