This fast paced contemporary story takes place at the Aegean Sun Hotel in Greece over the summer season. Focusing on the various visitors who stay in room 101 on a weekly basis, it interweaves with the stories of the hotel staff and holiday reps based there over a six month period.

The karaoke nights, bar crawls, barbeques and boat cruises are enjoyed by some more than others, but they all have a tale to tell. Several characters are open and honest whilst others keep secrets from their fellow holidaymakers, reps and even their own partners.

Costas may look like a Greek Pierce Brosnan, but is he smooth and refined or just vain and selfish? Michalis is the perfect young Adonis and has different girls every night, but will any of them find true love? Will Mark make it through a whole season with the extra duties he gets landed with? Just who are these people who either get lost on the day trip, go to Turkey with a hangover, hide an affair, wake up in the hospital, or end up sharing the same man without ever knowing?

This believable account of holiday fun, described by a former holiday rep herself, can be read as an on-going story of a Greek way of life, or as a series of connected short stories describing each character’s individual experiences. Either way, the entertainment is just beginning…

About the author

Stephanie Wood writes contemporary fiction in the form of novels, novellas and short stories and her books explore a wide range of life’s challenges, dreams and responsibilities. The stories are all character based, so she has fun expressing each unique personality and the reasons behind their actions in a setting which always has a strong sense of community.

She published the AEGEAN SUN series of books as a fly-on-the-wall vision of life in a Greek resort during the summer season, using her extensive experience as a holiday rep to bring some unusual incidents to life on the page. The series began as an exploration of the various ways in which tourists make the most of their holidays and how they interact with the locals while they are visiting. The later books in the series have taken a closer look at the locals themselves to show how their lives and relationships are sometimes changed by the regular influx of seasonal visitors.

The CHRISTMAS ON THE CLOSE series is set in a British suburban cul-de-sac over the festive period and visits each house individually to discover how the neighbours who live there celebrate the season in their own special way.

The GREEK RETREAT trilogy is a new release of women's fiction with romantic themes, which creates a relaxing escape, full of sunshine and surprises to soothe the soul.

Stephanie lives in Lancashire where, apart from reading and writing, she loves gardening and cycling and is a huge fan of the soaps Emmerdale and Neighbours.

The author sums it up from the start. These individually crafted stories are echoes from the past, memories of events that took place in a fairly regular and nondescript room.

It was a light read, which I thoroughly enjoyed! I could easily dedicate scraps of time to it without getting lost. Nonetheless I had no desire to put the story down.

I felt a connection to the characters, simply by reading about their thoughts and emotions. This in turn, this left me wondering what happened to them after they left. It left me very tempted to pick up the sequel to find out!

If walls could talk! Once I got used to the “short story” format I loved this book with an insight in to what it might be like to be a holiday rep on a Greek island. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.
