Crashing into my brothers' best friends was a mistake. Letting them stay might be an even bigger one.
After I rear-ended their truck, I thought I'd just get a lecture and be done. But when Dean, Reed, and Lennon decided to move onto our ranch to help out, things got complicated fast. They’re not just here to work—they’re here to keep an eye on me, whether I like it or not.
Dean’s gruff attitude could freeze over Hell—especially when he calls me reckless. He made it clear after the accident that he thinks I need supervision. Reed’s a cocky flirt who thinks tossing me over his shoulder is a great way to win an argument. And Lennon, with his gentle smile, has a hidden steel resolve—he'll do whatever it takes to keep me in line.
They’re my brothers’ best friends, and they think they know best. Too bad for them, I’m not the kind of girl who takes orders.
But danger is closing in, and they’re not backing down. How am I supposed to keep my heart intact when they’re ready to risk everything for me?
18+ Readers only. Taken by My Brothers' Best Friends is a sizzling reverse harem romance filled with alpha ex-military men, steamy tension, and a guaranteed happily ever after. Get ready for a wild ride of love, danger, and passion!
“Close your mouth, honey. This room is loaded with dildos looking for a home.”
okay i am so glad we are getting a new town and a new group of women, but with some crossover still with Harmony Valley. including Vera creating her own chapter of the Doll’s Club 😏
Vera is so fxcking hilarious but also pretty badass? she has no filter and you know when you can’t stand silence and awkwardness so you just.keep.talking??? yeah, that’s Vera and it’s so funny. but growing up on the farm with her brothers, she can take care of herself. sort of lol.
this was such a great first book to this new series. and the perfect palate cleanser. it is a little bit more serious/“darker” than her other books, but still on the lighter scale.

It was ok. I didn't feel any connection between them all, so the romance wasn't there for me. I might try another book by this author to see if it was just these characters.
Let’s be real there are spoilers in my review because I hope the brilliant woman Summer Haze reads this
I have been in such a reading slump! But this book (and soon to be series) along with the previous series Harmony Valley series pulled me out of it.
First off I loved all of our FMCs in every damn book but Vera? Oh she’s my favorite simply because she’s such a damn badass.
Now don’t get me wrong; Violet, Joanie, Billy, and Eve are all badass women in their own right. Hell every damn female main or side character is a unique person who are all badass in their own rights.
Many stories struggle with characters and feeling drawn to so many and making them feel real. Summer Haze stories do not have this struggle. Every time you read it the side characters stand out just enough to feel authentic, intriguing and real while not outshining our main characters.
Violet- oh sweet Violet is by far a special girl in my heart. First of all her book lays out the solid foundations for all of our other books. She really sets the theme but the tone changes and the books never feel like the same thing but redone. Violet stands out because she’s literally our mama bear single mom who is so selfless and sweet. Her story is the softest but the most emotional in my opinion. I literally had moments I wanted to cry with her maybe because I relate to her big emotions and how she saw herself due to her mother and feeling alone. She is a badass mom, selfless and loves hard and strong. We don’t see her much in Vera or Eve’s book nor do we see Joanie too much which some might mind but I think it was smart.
Violet was our new girl in town and she was closest with Joanie in town and building a relationship with Billie and starting one with Eve. So it makes sense she wouldn’t be seen as much in Eve’s story or Vera’s much at all. This fact didn’t bother me but I do hope we see her a little more soon.
This also made sense to me because it seemed like Joanie came into town a little before Violet and she was close with Billie but as we know Joanie struggles with trust so her being closed off till she learns to open up with help of her asshole but sweet and hard headed sexy men makes sense.
Billie and Eve are day one best friends who grew up together and you really really see and feel that in their stories. Vera is introduced in Billie’s story as she is the sister to her men but Billie doesn’t know her. However we find out Vera is one of the authors Eve edits for and they have a close long distance friendship and we really get to see Vera as a supportive side character in Eve’s story!
Also due to how the Harmony Valley stories all overlap with their time frames it makes sense on how and who we see in these books. I’m truly so impressed at how well these books felt like their own stories while keeping scenes from previous books but from the other woman’s perspective of what not only they are going through but how they see it. I’ve never read an intertwined series like that and if I ever do again by another author Summer Haze has really raised the bar of expectations.
Okay back to individual women and what makes them stand out!
Our second book is Joanie’s, she’s the most stubborn woman as an FMC I’ve ever read but it’s not annoying. Seriously, you read her POV’s and you’re cheering for her to give everyone hell because Joanie’s character doesn’t frustrate you but convinces you that hell yeah she’s right. But then her men come swinging in and they make you realize right along with Joanie that oh damn maybe they are good men. Her book made me laugh, tear up and smile so much. Her character deserves to be shown more especially her times with the creepy twins and Mack.
Then of course we have Billie- her story pissed me off the most. Her story really made me want to scream I hate men. They are just archaic in thinking a virgin=innocent and put our girl through hell in thinking they don’t want her. In reality it’s a big whole we want her but she deserves better until they get their heads out of each other asses and realize who cares yall love each other now get going! But again a story full of so many smiles, laughs, anger, some tears and some oh wows.
Eve’s story probably had me cackling the louder because omg this girl just has the worst yet the best luck ever. First encounter with her neighbors? Wild, poor girl! But she’s so funny! I loved every moment of it! Eve’s story had me crying at times too bc same girl. Seriously, same.
Vera omg what to say about her? She is our underdog, the black sheep of the Hellstone family. Shes overlooked and judged and these men come in swinging. Her story is the spiciest and honestly I hope we get more action and spice! Her story had me enraptured from the start, fast paced and action packed with so many tropes but it all worked! Vera literally has no filter and just speaks her mind and I loved it the whole damn time! Vera is our secret baddie and I loved all of it so much!
This book was alright. The plot was a little OTT and the characters a bit painful, but it was alright nonetheless. The best character by far was Bobby and his cute little pyjamas. Vera was frustrating at times, acted liked a whiny brat and threw way too many tantrums for a 26 year old woman. Despite not being the lazy, unemployed bum her brothers thought she was, it wasn't much of a surprise when they treated her like a child because she acted like one when she started throwing food and stomping her feet when she didn't get her way. I don't think her feelings of anger at the men's possessiveness over her were unjustified, but I do think her responses and actions were. Maybe it's just me, but I don't find fully grown women acting like toddlers needing a diaper change to be hot. I do love a good bratty personality, but wish this was done more in a conscious causing mayhem way and in less of a temper tantrum way. I wish we had seen more of the brattiness in play with her dynamic with Reed and the inclusion of a subspace would have been the icing on the cake. Reed was the only guy with personality beyond 'must protect woman', and that was just his interest in BDSM and subsequent insecurities about finding a parter that would enjoy that dynamic too. It was crazy insta love, I think they were together for a week and then 'the climax' happened and all of a sudden it went from being 'I want her but I shouldn't' to 'I'm going to marry her next week' type feeling. The action with the cops and rival ranch seemed pretty shallow and overly showy/dramatic with little practical effect on the storyline. Between her overbearing brothers and possessive new boyfriends, all of the men in Vera's life were sexist pricks that thought she needed to be coddled and protected (which to be fair she did a bit) and it drove me up the wall. You know what's sexy? Being seen as an equal. Maybe it was supposed to come off as hot (or understandable in the case of her brothers) but it came off as brutish and commandeering and I so wish Vera had the balls to tell them to piss off and then actually follow through with it. I hate how quickly her 'I'm done with all of you and need to leave' turned into 'they'll come save me, they have to' as soon as she ran into trouble. Screw threatening harm that your brothers will execute on your behalf, commit some bodily harm yourself girl! I will say though that the smut was sexy and I'm interested in the other stories that will no doubt intertwine with Vera's as RH relationships seemed to be rather commonplace in this community. Also aside from a few little points, it didn't feel very ex-military at all and the lack of self control around an admittedly a beautiful woman was shocking. Their whole reasoning of not wanting to get involved with her because they were friends with her brothers seemed like absolute donkey poop though- they were all consenting adults and their 'friendship' was more like a mutual agreement between acquaintances. The brothers attitude towards Vera the entire book pissed me off and I felt like they deserved more pain/grovelling when they realised she wasn't a little girl in need of protection (that is, if she had actually proved she wasn't a little girl and needed protection). The comment about her men claiming 'all her virginities' was a bit yucky and this is just me, but I'm really tired of virgin FMCs and the sense of 'possession' men feel after popping her cherry etc. At least none of these guys were F-boys I guess. The 'surprise' would not have been my choice of ending and seemed a little stupid as in really, nobody considered that might actually happen? Yes, Reed planned for it somewhat (kind of creepy seeing that they were only together for a few weeks) but nobody wanted to actually do anything about it? I'd be fuming, just saying. The Dolls Club seemed interesting but kind of irrelevant to the romance and a lot of chapters surrounding the other characters like Sugar, Eve and Bianca felt like time wasters. Overall, it was a nice easy read and with some serious fine tuning could maybe be a real winner. 5/10.
At first, I couldn't stand Vera. I thought she was very childish and immature, and also reckless. Driving while texting AND on a phone call? And then to give an attitude to the people that SHE hit? I thought, please don't let the main character be an irritating, entitled, selfish Karen type!
But then, not many pages later, I was rolling with laughter! Vera was hilarious! I was highlighting sentences and paragraphs right and left! I laughed so hard and so often that my upstairs neighbor probably thinks I'm insane (walls are thin). Doesn't help that I chose to read this book in the late evening and he gets up for work at 5:00am! LOL!
Anyhow, the hilarity of the book had me settling in and becoming immersed in Hellstone Ranch and its inhabitants. I also became very attached to Bobby the dog and his everchanging pajamas! Very nice detail to throw into the book!
I was very pleasantly surprised with the book! As such, I took it in stride that, like many reverse harem books, the characters' relationship moved quickly, everybody fell in love so fast, and all the other tropes of such books that I usually hate. I couldn't help but roll with it because I fell for these characters, so I couldn't blame them for falling for each other! I'll definitely be checking out more books from this author!
The "she's my best friend's sister and therefore we can't be with her" trope will never be one of my favorites, but I can still be won over. And after meeting Vera in the other series, of course I had to read her book.
Honestly, not bad. I liked how badass Vera was, and the dynamic of the men with her for the most part beyond the best friend's sister part.
Her brothers were easily the worst part of this story. Like... they're the worst. At every turn, they were just terrible, and I felt like we didn't get much of an explanation for it beyond they're over-protective older brothers and they think that she's been mooching off them for years. Which really just shows how stupid they are. Any time they entered the story, I just wanted them to go away. Which I guess was maybe the point. If they get their own story somewhere down the line, I'm not sure how I'll feel about those idiots. They kind of took me out of this story anytime they were on page just because of how awful they were.
Vera has a secret. Well several actually. But one secret is that she isn’t the freeloading waste little sister that her brothers think she is. You see Vera is a best selling author. She writes under a pen name and is extremely popular. She also has a mouth that won’t stop talking. First she rear ends her brothers friends who have come to town to help out at the ranch. Then she accidentally over hears two men talking about what sounds like a drug deal. She tries to tell her brothers and they laugh at her imagination. She discovers that she lost her phone while running from one of the men. So she prepares to defend her home. I don’t want to give away too much. But suffice to say her brothers finally believe her. They get their friends to hide her for her protection. The things she gets into. This book is packed with suspense, humor, and steamy scenes. I loved it. Can’t wait to read the next in the series.
its a pretty slow burn at first. with an amazing story line. Definitely keeps you interested, but then things start to spice up!! and I mean SPICEY! The build up in intense and such a tease I definitely needed a "breather" in between a few scenes. but it was delicious! and by the end she had be hooked and I couldn't help but search for the rest of the story. Yes I did start at the end but ya know that's ok because even thought there in spill over you don't feel like you'd missed out if you read them in a different order. which it a really good thing!
So this was a cute easy read. Vera out fmc is a romance author who is actually a Virgin. She get herself into a bit of trouble and her overbearing brothers 3 best friends and ex navy buddies step in to help. Vera asks them to help her have real life experiences she can write about. At first they do everything they can to avoid this favor but she breaks them down lol. Over all cute books ending felt alittle rushed but I guess it being standalone that's kinda expected.
A fun and spicy read. There were just a few things that bugged me. There was no explanation for how Vera’s friends found her at the safe house. It seemed really implausible they would have found her. Dean took Vera’s virginity without using any protection or discussing birth control. WTF? There was also no STI testing status conversation. There was almost no description of what most of the characters looked like, other that they were hot. No mention of hair colour, etc., so it was hard to picture them.

It had potential but fell flat. Vera's brattiness was irritating. I couldn't stand her outbursts (seriously screaming for an entire day!?) and her continual word vomit was cringy and embarrassing. Didn't care for how her brothers treated her. They were high handed bullies and she should have long ago put them in their place. The secret she was keeping at the end was over the top. She was told everything was fine, however she didn't believe that and buried her head in the sand. It just circles back to her immaturity. It could have been so much better.
So good!!! And beyond funny. I laughed out loud so much while reading this! The FMC had no filter and major verbal diarrhea. lol. I only wish that the author was more descriptive about the guys’ appearances and maybe even their ages. The only thing we heard about them is that Reed had salt and pepper hair. And that was it. I need more descriptions for my own visuals in my head. But as always Summer knocked it out of the park with this book and I definitely recommend it.
The book started out with a rear end accident. Vera is thought to be a slacker and lazy, however her brothers don’t know that she is a famous author and has been keeping their ranch a float. When trouble finds Vera, 3 of her brother’s military best friends come to rescue her, while she is staying with these 3 hot guys she has a request that will change all their lives; forever.
I read quite a bit of books. Was immediately drawn to this. The fmc has a very expressive, hilarious personality. Vera got me hooked. Add the 3 mc's was the cherry on top. I do wish I got an extended epilogue though. Hoping there's a bit more about them in her sister's story. I re read this twice because of the hilarious banter. Definitely going to be reading all Summer's books now. Bravo!!!!
Fast, filthy, and fun. This book gave me exactly what I wanted—tattooed military alphas, a sassy heroine, and nonstop tension. The guys? Delicious chaos. The pacing? Quick and addictive. The heat? Off the charts.
I binged it in one sitting and immediately wanted book two. Took off one star only because I wanted more character depth… and maybe a few extra chapters of the spice 😏🔥
If you like reverse harem with attitude, muscles, and drama—this is it.
OMG!!! I cannot say enough about Summer Haze and her writing. I love her books. She makes this genre so entertaining, heartwarming and realistic. For this type of genre, she makes it believable interesting and is so hilarious at times she throws in just enough spice. There’s also almost always a bit of danger and unexpected turns of events.
Three hot sexy ex-military guys and a super sexy virgin. Life in a small town turns real interesting when Vera comes home. She over hears something she shouldn't and runs for her life. A break in at her house and her brothers bring in friends to keep her safe.
I picked this up as I love brothers best friend and 3 of them... I'm in. I loved each character and the sass she possessed. I enjoyed her brothers and friends as well. It was steamy, sexy, fun, flirty and sweet. My hardest part was trying to decide who my favorite was (think it's Reed but maybe Lennon) want this in a movie form phew
So I went to Amazon and typed in Military Romance and this was one of the options. I really thought sure why not quick novella and if it sucks then so be it. I WAS SO WRONG THIS BOOK IS FIRE!!!
Vera’s brat gets a little annoying but her punishments are so good that I want her to brat more!!
Vera was hilarious and I couldn’t stop laughing. She sure was a spitfire. I couldn’t put the book down. What I liked about the book there wasn’t continuous sex scenes. I’ve read books that every time you turned around they were having sex. It’s like get to the point. Anyway very good book.
Story was pretty good but OTT. I have read a couple of the books with the "womens club". Never realized they'd be in all the books. The first two I read involved people in the same town, but this one they traveled across the country to start one up. Once or twice is ok but not in every book. I'm going to read the blurb better next time.
It’s the equivalent of a bully romance, combined with body betrayal tropes, and ‘I hate him, but can’t resist him’. Three of the worst tropes ever, especially when combined with the supposedly ‘sassy and strong woman’ one.
All combined, I’m grinding my teeth, and wanting to erase the words on my screen.
It is obvious to me that I have read them out of oder, but that's OK too. The way the town comes together is great. 6 hours away from town, too funny. I think it would be fun to be able to help write these types of books, editing or whatever since my skills are not upto this level.
An excellent read and very steamy. Her brothers did not like that their sister was living off them. Little did they know her secret and how much she had saved the ranch. Add in 3 gorgeous friends and things begin to heat up. Unfortunately the ending, whilst having a happy ending, also leaves it hanging. I have no idea if there is a follow up.
So happy Vera finally got her own HEA. The guys were well written, especially Reed. The spice was just wow 💋🥵🥵🥵. Also the banter was excellent, had me rolling with laughter. My only issue with this book was how bratty Vera was written at times, it was a little OTP.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Summer Haze is becoming one of my favorite smutty romance authors. She brings the spice and the storyline. I absolutely loved Vera and the fact that she could not shut up. I loved the male main characters too but Reed has a special place in my heart. All I can say is hot damn.
Taken By My Brothers Best Friends by Summer Haze is the first book in the series Southern Heat Reverse Harem. This book is fantastic! This is a new author for me. ,
I love her books their always amazing, I laugh a lot, roller coaster ride!! Charact3rs are funny, and V was definitely licing up 5o her nickname throughout the book!!!
I really liked how it was a take on my brother's best friends but I wished I knew more about the family. It's a really good and funny take on reverse harem and the right amount of spice. The author (summer haze) killed it with the supence.
I haven't slept in over 24 hours because I got so wrapped up in 2 books today or last night whatever. I didn't necessarily like the ending because it left me hanging. But still a phenomenal book....
