Lucifer has traveled to Earth, seeking help for his planet, and to warn us of the plague that is traveling our way. His dark red skin, wings, horns and forked tail were a bit much for Earthlings, so needless to say we captured Lucifer and threw him into a lab to be tortured and studied.





There is one scientist that catches Lucifer's eye. His desire for her is so strong, she must be his mate. But how can he can he ever be with her? He needs to escape Earth, and find a way to save his planet!!

Wow!! This book was Erotic and Action Packed!! These Aliens have the ability to whammy you with their kiss. And if that doesn't do it, their enhanced sexual anatomy will have you begging for a second helping of Freaky Deaky Alien Sex!!!

Definitely a noncon book. The males of this species have a kiss and venom that literally stupifies a female/can control their arousal. This was used categorically to silence, stupify, manipulate and kidnap the two heroines.
Heroines also not that palatable one wanted to fight everything even herself while the other one was the queen of the shrinking violets.

This book is the prequel to When the Night Falls by Kaitlyn O'Connor. It is about Luciens father Lucifer. This is my second book by this author, and once again she is becoming a fast favorite author of mine. I am looking forward to reading her other books and I hope she continues this series, because she leaves some stones unturned.
Lucifer has been captured and held hostage by the American Government. He is tired of being stuck with needles and studied like some freak of nature. No one believes he had come to Earth to warn the humans of the plague that is sweeping across the galaxies and destroying life in it's wake. He is fasinated by one of the quiet, scientist Nicole and longs for her to notice him and free him from his bondage.
Nicole is a quiet unassuming scientist who is attracted and fasinated by Lucifer despite her better judgement. She sees him as a man and not as the creature/alien her co-worker sees him as. She runs from her feelings for him, and more than once does some foolish things.
I loved Lucifer. I know he isn't your "normal" hero, but he was interesting and just about as Alpha as you can get.
I also really enjoyed the secondary characters and romance in this book. I only wish that Nicole could have been stronger and not as wishy-washy, but this book will still be on my keeper shelf and be re-read in years to come.

A word of warning: If you are offended by strong language, explict sexuality and a hero that isn't "normal" then this book is not for you

This one has parallel worlds instead of space travel.

Nicole is a scientist who has been hired to study Luc, a traveler from another world who had come to warn them of a plague that is making it's way through the worlds and instead is captured and experimented on to eventually be destroyed. Nicole feels bad for him but doesn't do shit to save him. He hates her but is still attracted to her, which we find out about later. I really wanted to keep hating Nicole, but I just couldn't keep it up.

Luc is eventually rescued by Sandra, Nicole's co-worker. Luc takes Sandra and Nicole to his world to see if they can help his people that are dying. I loved Sandra, not at first, but later. There were a few funny scenes where they are running from this mob and everytime Sandra screams, it makes Nicole scream, and they're running around in circles. This scene doesn't end funny, but that part made me laugh.

Like I said before I wasn't liking Nicole at all. I thought if this were WWII and he was a Jew would you have just let him be experimented on and die because you are a "coward". The answer was yes, she would have let him die. She even went home when she knew they were going to kill him. Not every heroine has to be likable, but this one was very hard to get over.

As far as characters go, I'm - for once - happy with running into a cowardly one. I know that, basically, your average heroine should be strong and confident but it really does get old after some 50 books of the same constitution. On the other hand, Lucifer somewhat covered for what Nicole lacked and I'm fine with that.

Plot-wise: it was a bit slow-moving but I suppose it couldn't be avoided. Perhaps a bit less inner-psychology would have made me more content but I'm good with as-is.

The major disappointment came at the end with the question of mortality. I would have preferred something lighter and perhaps more hopeful of a happily ever after since they're scientists and all but you can't tell an author how to write their books.

I really enjoy Kaitlyn O'Connor, but this book annoyed me. The heroine was so blah. She was too scared to do anything. She wouldn't look at him because she felt guilty, she wouldn't help him because she was too scared he'd lead invaders to Earth, while never bothering to ask him. I found nothing compelling about her. The antiheroine Sandra was much more compelling and was much more someone I'd want at my back in a fight. I couldn't understand Lucifer's intense reaction to her at all.

Ridiculous cover.

I read the second one first and found that the world building didn't support each other well.

I liked that the heroine was different. I wasn't expecting a second woman, along with her POV she wants to do the H, and she does multiple times--once in front of the h and other scientists. Then she gets her own alien! I suppose the author had to get her away from the other relationship somehow . And this woman says she is friends with the h?! The emotions were clear, even though the MCs misunderstand each other for most of the book.

Huh, after writing this review I will have to go down a star.

So, this was a pleasant surprise! Sandra and Nicky actually worked together and became friends! This by itself made this book sooo much more enjoyable than other KO'Cs.

This is a prequel to When Night Falls and covers Lucifer, or Luc, who is the father of Lucien, the hero in the next book.

Luc has travelled to Earth to warn them of the plague that has decimated his own planet, but is captured and chained up in a cell to be studied. One of the scientists, Nicole, seems to be sympathetic to him and is obviously reluctant to treat him as "an interesting speciman". As he studies her while she studies him, he begins to want her for his mate.

The scientists want to study his species' mating practices; and he agrees to give them a "demonstration" with Nicole. When the scientists withdraw to confer, Nicole flat out refuses and another scientist steps in her place. Luc is furious that Nicole has spurned him and vows to avenge himself by taking her if he can escape. He winds up kidnapping both women, when he does escape and returns to his planet, but it is Nicole who has captured his heart. He must convince her to forgive him and accept him as her mate.

While billed as a prequel to the second book, it is clear that some of the action in this book is simultaneous to the second book, while other events take place after events in the second book.

This is a second chance at love story for Luc; and I found it a very satisfying read, especially after having read the second one--which I accidentally read first. I liked both the H/h characters in this book better than the ones in the second book, where the characters were, I thought, more self-serving and cold in the beginning. Highly recommend--especially if you read the second one first!
