The Walter Hagen Story

Rate this book
One of the game’s most dashing and feared players, he is summed up in his most-remembered ” I never wanted to be a millionaire – I just wanted to live like one”.This is Walter Hagen’s own story of the two decades when he ruled the golfing world as king. Hagen not only won a major tournament every year for twenty years-a record never even approached by any other golfer-but his personality dominated the game during that period. A fascinating read that also shows how he opened up the golf world to professionals–who previously weren’t even allowed in the clubhouse.Foreword by Herbert Warren Wind.

Wow, I picked up a 1957 first edition from Oxfam as I enjoy golf and particularly the history of this great game
This is a quite simply a a brilliant biography of a great golfer that lived his life to the full. Winner of 11 golf majors which is 3rd only behind Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods in major wins
A pioneer who helped shape the global golf game to what it is today. Beautifully written and insightful which takes you back to the time-when Walter has king and mixed with Kings and Presidents-alike.
If you enjoy reading about golf or autobiographies then this is a must for you if you have the good fortune to come across a copy
