With her short and regrettable marriage over, she is thrilled to enter her very own cafe each morning, and determined to keep men on the sideline for a while. Business is good, and her customers need her for their morning jolt of caffeine as well as her vivacious personality. Those who call the streets their home also depend on her kindness and compassion for an occasional warm drink or bite to eat.

But for some of those unfortunate souls, Hannah’s cafe is turning out to be the wrong place to be found! One by one, three men have been found dead in the alley behind her bistro. The causes of death are different, but the scenes are spookily similar. And to her, they all mean one a murderer is in her midst.

Enter a handsome alpha male – Chicago Police Detective Sam Jeffers. His charm and undeniable physical appeal awaken desires in Hannah that she thought she had put on hold. And the persistence and determination that make him an effective homicide detective are wearing down her resolve…

Will their feelings for each other have a chance to grow before the murderer gets even closer?

Along the way, she received a BS in History and held different jobs in the real estate, government consulting, and financial industries. All during that time, though, she was always writing, using her personal experiences, dreams, and travels throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean as backdrops for her stories. To date, she has written over eighty books and sold over 5.1 million copies. Her free novellas have been downloaded over 8 million times since 2013.

Elizabeth lives in Virginia with her husband and two children. Their home is just outside of Washington, D.C., and many of her novels are set in this area.

Hannah the kind and friendly coffee owner saw dead man at the back alley of her shop. The detective Sam interrogated her and asked her to dinner. Hannah was a divorcee because her ex husband was gay. There were 3 bodies found and it turned out that one of her customer was so obsessed with her and killed the homeless men. Sam proposed to her and she moved in with him.

An awesome beginning

This is the 1st book in the series and it was awesome. The h and H because of a murder which happened behind her coffee shop. The H is the detective on the case. The plot and characters were very well written. Looking forward to the next book in the series. An epilogue would have been nice.

Better than most - enjoyable, reasonable. Not much of a mystery.

Looking at the other reviews, mine is not going to be received very well. But here goes. Number one, there is no way a police detective gets involved with a potential suspect or witness. If the case went to court, all evidence would be inadmissible. Number two, who does he think he is to tell her what do. According to the story, she's smart enough to own and operate her own business so why does he think he can bully her. I'll tell you why, because she's another female whose brain trickles out of her head whenever a manly man walks into a room. He gets angry when he sees another man looking at her but his anger seems to be directed at her. This man doesn't listen to her at all,he just plows her over going through her cupboards and dresser drawers telling her she's coming to his place. Does anyone see domestic violence down the road, because I do. He says this is all about her protection, but it's really about his control over her. I really wanted to like this book because I bought all four based on the stars this first one was given, oh well live and learn. I know that this is just a story for entertainment, but sometimes I think we do the young women of this generation a great disservice by romanticizing an Alpha male as just a man who knows what he wants and takes it. Example : Sam and Hannah are leaving her Cafe when two of her regular male customers ask why she's leaving early. Sam grabs her hand angrily and she has to run to keep up with him. Hannah asks what is wrong he replies "How many men are in love with you, trying to tamp down the fury that's choking him. She replies I don't know what you're talking about. You're mine and I always protect what's mine. I don't want any guy thinking he has a chance with you. So now she's an object to be owned, they've only known each other for a few days I cringe to think what will happen after a few months. How is this in any way romantic.

Ok, so the story lines were a bit predictable: Hot cop, beautiful woman in distress, man helps woman, hot sex burns the pages, they fall in love, the crime is solved, they get married and are the happiest people in the universe. Why did I give it 5 stars then? These stories are so well written that you really don't need an imagination to feel like you are actually a character in the book who is witnessing all of this firsthand. AND I'm a sucker for a hot man in a uniform...let's just keep it real. ;)

This review is how I felt about all 4 books in this series. I would definitely recommend them.

Really good

I love how you write. You are one of the only authors that know how to keep the main characters in the book together and monogamous throughout the whole story. I find that you are only one of a few authors who can pull it off. It's great and it makes your books so much more real and compelling. I really hate when authors put misunderstandings in the story just to take up space. It definitely takes away from the story when they do that. Congratulations on another great book. Gina

Great love story

For Elizabeth Lennox's first cop book, it was really good. The mystery wasn't hard to figure out but she was creative in her methods of killing the victims. I also liked how she involved the female character in solving the crime. I realize that this book is more of a romance than a romantic mystery or romantic suspense book and that she focuses more on the romance and development of the relationship between the two main characters than the mystery. So for her first attempt at a cop romance it was really good.

Quick easy read, which I have come to expect with Elizabeth Lennox. It was good, Sam and Hannah had chemistry right from the first. She had a lousy marriage and had given up on men and relationships but then Sam came into her life. Sam is a cop investigating the murders of homeless men that are left behind Hannah's coffee shop. It is short read and the relationship develops really quickly but for me it seemed real and I enjoyed it.
Can't wait to read Sam's friends stories.

3.65 Quirky Coffee stars.
The book was good but could've been great. The plot was such that it would've suited a long and elaborated book more but the story was in comparison , short !
It was sort of a predictable read. I almost already knew about the killer and it turned out to be the same so not much of a mystery their.
overall...
it was good read but there is still a scope for improvement ..
