There isn’t much I love more than a good forbidden love story. Add in the fact that this is cowritten by one of my favorite authors just makes it that much better. I have been highly anticipating Need since I first heard of it’s release. I’m happy to report it did not disappoint. Angsty, steamy, emotional and just a bit taboo. Yes, this was a total win for me.
Kira and Brayden are neighbors and Brayden has been best friends with Kira’s older brother Ryan and Kira since they were kids. As they get older, they start to fall for one another. That attraction is there, but it’s more than that. Just as they are starting to realize their feelings, something huge happens that changes everything. Their parents announce that they’re getting married, which will make them step-siblings.
It’s such a hard thing for them both. Neither of their feelings just go away, but how can they act on them? They can’t really be together. So when Brayden goes to college, he hopes the distance will help. Maybe he can just stay away and eventually things can go back to normal. They can go back to just being friends and fight the need they feel towards one another. It breaks Brayden being away from Kira, and Kira is hurting just as much.
Every time they are near each other, the need comes back full force. Time and distance does nothing to quench it.
This back and forth with Brayden and Kira broke my heart. I hurt reading their story. Every time Brayden comes home, you just feel the connection they share and there isn't’ much they can do about it. For both of them, the next two years is brutal. Trying to fight your feelings and stay away from the one you love is not an easy task. Brayden tries to make things easier for them, but it ends up hurting them both in the process. It’s a story of hurt. Of being heartbroken. Of wanting, and needing, but not ever being able to have.
But you can only deny yourself and what you want for so long. There comes a breaking point…
Brayden is the type of hero I always hope for in a book. He’s broken, damaged, imperfect and just a mess. He made bad decisions, but I believe that his heart was always in the right place. His bad choices came from a good place so I could over look anything he did wrong.
Kira grew strength as the story progressed and I loved that she has a backbone. As a teenager in love for the first time, it’s easy to have a tender heart and be walked all over. But those few years yearning for Brayden and getting her heart broken over and over changed her. I’m anxious to see how her character develops in the next book.
Need is one of those books you should read when you have a clear schedule and can just sit down and devour it. I read it cover to cover with no breaks. I can’t imagine stopping once you start. You will become addicted to this story and need to know whats happening. The ending is a bit of a cliffy, but the sneak peak into the next book at the end made me okay with that. Regardless, I’m hoping the next book comes out sooner rather than later because I’m dying to know what happens with these two!
If you like to feel when you read, if you enjoy some angst, forbidden love then this is the book for you. I highly recommend.

I enjoyed how this story started young love with your brother’s best friend. The couple's obstacle is that their parents will marry and now he and she is the forbidden step sibling to one another. Sadly for me they don’t have much of a connection to one other. Their lust for one another and the hero’s stick it anywhere ways and thoughts completely turned me off instead of propelling me forward. I would have loved a swim team scene, school scene something with a bit of depth. Absolutely NO personalities are written for these characters just their libidos. So far it’s just their obsession about sleeping with one another that has left me looking for big brother Ryan’s appearances instead of these two who are immature and pretty unlikable.

I absolutely loved everything about this story.
Brayden and Kira met when they were children, the day Kira and her brother Ryan moved in next door. Ryan and Brayden were instant friends and they allowed the younger Kira to tag along. From a young age the Kira and Brayden began developing feelings for one another. However, as they get older Brayden is terrified to admit his feelings for Kira. Brayden’s fears are valid as he is best friends with her brother, but more than that after watching his parent’s fight and divorce he doesn’t have a ton of faith in love.
One night Brayden caves to his feelings and kisses Kira. After that night he decides he needs more and no longer want to hold back how he feels. He knows he is older then Kira, but he willing to wait for her. The day he decides to tell her how he feels they find out their parents are getting married, to each other.
Do not think this is your typical “stepbrother” story, because it’s not. It is so much more. The connection between Kira and Brayden is real and the reasons they are not together are more involved then their new step-sibling relationship. In the beginning when you are reading this story you see the obvious reasons, but as things progress you see another side.
I am a HUGE fan of forbidden romance. I love the angst that comes with it and I love the hot foreplay that follows. Need had plenty of both. First, Brayden is sexy as sin and I loved his dirty ways. He is such a hot character and if you love dirty talk this book is for you. Second, Kira could hold her own when it came to Brayden. She wasn’t afraid to admit her feelings and put herself on the line.
As much as I love a dirty talker this story also had so much more. I love how we were able to see the characters grow throughout the story. Need is told over multiple years, so we are able to see both of them grow up and develop into their own identities. This story is ends on cliffy, but it is minor and you do get a peek at what’s to come.
As I said I loved everything about this story, even the ending, because I feel there is still so much growth and story to tell. I can’t wait to see what comes next for these two and how things will play out. I highly recommend this story if you are a fan of forbidden love, a dirty talking hero, and a friends to lovers story.
Need: Part 2 is definitely on my list of most anticipated reads of 2015.

This is complete and utter rubbish. Brandon is the disgusting scum of the earth. for YEARS he leads on the girl he professes to love, whilst at the same time "fucking hundreds of girls" in his own words.
He plays with her mind time and again, year after year using her while banging everything that walks.
The girl is a pathetic loser taking him back every time.
This story is so completely over the top melodramatic and repetitive that it's completely laughable. Same thing keeps happening and she never learns every time he leaves her.
This asshole needs to learn a painful lesson for all he's done to this girl over the years, for NO GOOD REASON whatsoever. It's sick that imbetween sleeping with girl on top of girl he plays mind games with girl, without any repurcussions.
I am also amazed at how other readers accept what Brandon has done to Kira. What is wrong with you people? She doesn't deserve to be used and abused by this cheating slutpig for YEARS & YEARS. He breaks her, over & over & then goes off to his next party & onto the next chick after chick. What a PIG. He says he never wants to hurt her but he ALWAYS does, and yet he does it so easily over & over until he breaks her, is this someone who deserves her hah??? He also can't keep it in his pants for even a minute, can't sacrifice one little thing for her. Clearly she means shit to him.
So what if they're step siblings, so bloody what. This is not the big woo hoo taboo that the writers are trying to drum up, to justify this guy's disgusting repeated cheating behaviour. That does not give him the right to just keep breaking her over & over & over. He is a thousand times worse than his father. He says he stays away for her own good but the minute he feels her withdrawing he REELS her back in. Not once, not once twice, but EVERY SINGLE time he does this and then when he has her he RUTHLESSLY rejects her by going off and screwing another chick. He's clearly not traumatised by losing her if he can NEVER keep it in his pants. Never. He is a truly repulsive character who I ]hope gets his comeuppance finally for everything he has done to Kira, because authors HE DOES NOT DESERVE HER, NOR HAS HE DONE ONE THING TO REDEEM HIMSELF TO HER. NOT ONE. NOR HAS HE SUFFERED BY NOT HAVING HER. NO WHERE NEAR ENOUGH! Make the rutting sleazebag pay for once. He constantly acts dishonestly ad unfairly in order to gain what he wants and ALWAYS at Kira's expense.
And the other thing that REALLY pisses me off is every time he says he "waited" for her. He did NOT EVER wait for her. He was too busy banging random women everywhere, in his own words he NEVER turned down a hot chick. What a loser. Ah wise up dickhead, if you wait for someone show them that you mean it, because you certainly did NOT wait for her, the complete opposite in fact.
And Ryan, what a traitor to his own sister. Kira and Brayden have been neighbors and best friends since they were in grade school. From the moment Brayden saw a cute little five year old girl wearing kitty cat ears on her head, he was smitten. Kira was taken with Brayden as well. So Kira, her brother Ryan, and Brayden, were like the three musketeers during their adolescent years. Then things change once they are teenagers. Brayden and Kira both have a strong attraction for each other and want to start a relationship. Well, their worlds are about to be turned upside down.
Brayden's dad and Kira's mom drop the bomb that they are getting married.
So guess what Brayden does??!! He flips out and goes and has sex with some other girl, since now the girl of his dreams is off limits, and poor Kira witnesses it. So this crap goes on throughout the book.
It started off great. I liked reading about them as young children, but as soon as these two turned into horny teenagers, the story took a wrong turn for me. I swear I think Brayden had a hard-on the entire story and we get to hear all about it, and not only was he hard but his penis was quite leaky!! I could have gone without hearing about his constant state of arousal on every page of the book.
I'm thinking that Kira and Brayden were supposed to be in love, but I didn't get that feeling because all they seemed to be consumed with was thoughts of having sex with each other. I would have liked a little romance in the story. It just wasn't there for me. I also didn't care much for either character. Nothing really endeared either to me.
I will say that some of the scenes were very steamy and I may have been fanning myself quite a bit. Once I got to about the 75% mark of the book, I was dying for Kira and Brayden to finally have actual sex!! Call me crazy, but now I kind of want to know what happens next. It wasn't the best "step-brother" themed story I read, but it did have some good schmexy scenes.

Such an amazing book!! I can't even express how much I loved it! The story and the characters were really captivating. I love K.I. Lynn's writing style and her dirty talking characters. So when I saw this book I wanted to read it immediately! I devoured every part of this book! I had so many feelings while I was reading this book.Heartbreak, Angst,Sexual Tension,Frustration and love.. The relationship between the characters is off the charts!!When these two are together they are on fire!!!
Kira ,her brother Ryan and Brayden have been friends since they became neighbors.Their friendship is touching. From the first moment we see that Brayden has a soft spot for Kira,after all she is his friend's little sister. As the years pass we can see the bond that grows more and more between Kira and Brayden.But we don't know when something is finally going to happen between them..Brayden's dad and Kira's mom announced to them that they are getting married.(Are you in a shock???Because I was, when I read that their parents were going to get married I really wanted to throw my kindle..)
Can they stay away from each other?

I love that we get alternating POV because being in both of their heads makes me feel everything.It was so torturing for these two trying to not want each other.They really suffered and it was heartbreaking.I loved Brayden even though there were moments I was pissed with him.He is protective with Kira and he wants her only for him.Kira is strong and independent. She isn't afraid to go after what she wants!!
K.I. Lynn and Isabelle Blanco did an amazing job!!I love their writing together and I'm so excited for their next book...I highly recommend it to all!!

I'm sad to say, this one is just not working for me. My hopes were high, looking for some angsty goodness, but I just could not connect with Brayden or Kira.
At 48% I am still completely disconnected from the story and the characters. All I know about them is they are hot for each other, everything revolves around their sexual attraction. I need more than dirty thoughts and sexual tension, I need to care about the characters, and I just don't :(

4 Angsty Stars.
When Kira moved to another home, her older brother suddenly becomes best-friends with Brayden, the boy next door. That was moment when they fell in love with each other.
For years they are just friends too young to understand their feelings. But when Brayden is soon leaving for college and Kira is staying in high school he decides to confess her his feelings. That is the same day her mother and his father announce they’re getting married. And suddenly their love becomes out of reach.
For the next years they try to move on, they try to forget. But neither of them can.
Because how do you resist something that is apparently wrong… but it feels like the rightest thing in the world?
I struggled a lot through this book. It was a hard reading!! (Emphasis on hard!)
It begins with them as kids and is amazing, but as they grow old and their “forbidden love” doesn’t stop and they try to move on despite it, it was painful to read. For a good part of the book I was screaming “STOP FIGHTING THAT!!”, but then I remember that I never had been in a forbidden relationship, so it’s probably easy to talk, but damn if it wasn’t hard do put myself in their shoes. Especially win Brayden’s shoes, because I seriously wanted to kick him for a great deal of it. But in reality, I got hooked on this book from the beginning and despite having to stop a few times and deep breading, it has really sweet moments, it was emotional, sometimes unnecessary angst, and that ending left me wanting so much more. When releases the next?

I look forward to book 2 & Brayden proving his love & fighting for Kira! :D

Warning: If you are easily offended by sexual situations (not sex but close enough) between a minor and a boy bigger then her by three years and hint of sex between a minor and an adult guy than this book is not for you.
That being said I have to tell you that this has been the best stepbrother novel that I have read so far (I have read a few) and it totally rocks. The writing is very good and it felt like I was right there next to the characters and was able to live with them every emotion and every situation they have been through.
This book left me breathless...
Long story short they have been friends for almost all their life but once Brayden is 15 he starts to look at Kira differently and is aware that he can't have those feelings for a 12 year old girl.
Kira is pretty much in over her head in lust over Brayden but almost gives up when she's 15 because she thinks he will never look at her other then a best friend. Little does she know about Brayden's feelings but it all changes in a night only to have a total makeover of their relationship when their parents announce that they're getting married.
For years they dance around each other giving into their attraction here and there but not fully having each other until Kira is legal.
It was sometimes exasperating how Brayden would repeatedly send mixed signals and do a lot o shity things to push her away but I got where he was coming from.
When she finally reaches 18 the tables have turned because Kira has had enough and doesn't what anything to do with Brayden anymore. But he has other plans.
Although there is no sex in this book there are plenty of sexual situations that leave you all hot and bothered...and of course wanting more :D
We are left with a cliffhanger and waiting to see what the author has installed for us in the next book...

We watch Kira’s character develop from a girl into a vixen and although we watch her break over and over again we just can’t help but want her to endure just one more crack.
Need spans the time frame of these two from 7/10 year olds to 18/21 year olds so be prepared for more of a YA read for this first book of this two part series. But don’t worry, we may not get everything we want from these two in the first book, but the parts we do get are so freaking intense that the buildup of the sexual tension is hotter than most full blown sex scenes.
Brayden might be trying to be the good guy, but he’s no saint. And the scenes where control is lost? Fuck. Dripping. I loved how he was so lost in his lust that his body just reacted, it didn’t matter where he was or what he was doing. There was no stopping it. The need was seeping from him and spilling everywhere (and I mean everywhere).
I was on an angst fueled ride the entire time. These two broke my heart just as much as they made it race. Everything that was keeping them apart, everything that stood in their way... I wanted to destroy it. I wanted him to steal her away and claim her the way he wanted. I wanted my heart to stop breaking for Kira, I wanted her to hold out hope.
These two women outdid themselves! This was my first N. Isabelle Blanco read and I can honestly say that it won’t be my last. As for K.I. Lynn, well she stole my heart a long time ago with a particular dirty talking attorney. I absolutely loved the flow of this story and the story itself. The trend in step sibling romances is on the rise, but this story was so much larger than just that one element. The story was so dynamic that my focus was solely on these two characters and their struggle with their desire.
I could not put this book down. I could not keep my emotions in check. I was lost within the pages of this story as these two kids struggled with what was thrown at them. I cannot wait to see what will come of these two in the final installment of this duet series.

March 6, 2015I am not going to rate the book. I want to be fair to the author. I blame myself for not knowing what I was getting into reading the book. It is about a girl named Kira going from 8-18 years of age. She is still in high school when the book ends. Brayden is 11- 21 years of age. My fault because I do not like reading about HS kids wanting or lusting or needing sex. Not that it doesn't happen, it's just not my cup of tea!! So with that.....
This book is about two KIDS that grow up next door to one another and from a young age, have a connection. When Kira is 15 and Brayden is 18, he decides that he is going to ask his best friend's sister to be his girlfriend. But instead, his father and her mother tell the kids they are going to be married and now Kira and Brayden will be brother and sister. His romantic idea of having Kira as his girlfriend vanishes before his eyes and thus this story is all about feelings that must be forced away due to circumstances beyond their control.
I will say that the author writes really well. But my issue is the age of the characters and their sexual attraction to one another. In my opinion it is written for older characters. The words and thoughts are not of high schoolers or early college kids. I'm probably so out of reality with that thought but being 51 and having kids that exact same age- I just didn't find it believable.
I considered DNF so many times. The entire book is about their lust and their NEED. It is the drama of doing things but then feeling guilty and running away. It is torturing each other about their NEED throughout the entire book.
Like I said, the author can write very well, the words written didn't fit the age of the characters in my opinion and thus the plot didn't quite work for me.

The night he's decided to ask her to be his date for prom, his father and Kira's mom give them the shocking news that they are getting married which will make them step-siblings.
This news changes everything and the marriage of their parents will be the catalyst to a string of painful events through the years that will keep Brayden and Kira apart. They will both try to move on but it will prove to be impossible, because the heart wants what it wants. After many years and much hurt Brayden realizes he can't continue on without his Kitty (Kira) and he goes back home looking for her, but it just might be too late this time...
I was very confused by this book, it was a hate/love relationship I had with both this characters and if I'm being honest the angst and sexual tension were overkill. Is not easy for an author to achieve the perfect balance of this two components in a story, before turning the book into something that I simply couldn't enjoy because the anxiety was killing me. I know there's people out there that love a high angst novel but I'm definitely not one of them.

WOW! Please tell me the next book is ready. Yes, it ends in such a way, that makes the reader want to start the sequel right away, but i'm gonna restrain myself until it's time, or at least try.
This story is heartbreaking, passionate, emotional, sexy and absolutely delicious, what's not to love?
Kira and Brayden are meant to be together no matter what it's written in the stars really. Even if it took so many years for Baryden to see it clearly, and when he finally did, of course the worst thing possible happened. Their parents decided to get married! Isn't that just Great!
Brayden, Ryan -Kira's big brother- and Kira have being inseparable since they were little children. Best friends, neighbors and now siblings, how can Brayden stay away from the only girl he ever wanted to call his, how can he stop loving her and move on now that he knows how her lips feel against his, or what one touch from her does to his body, mind and heart?
He simply can't but he has to. Kira is a minor, Kira is his step-sister, Kira is ... the love of his life.
That's what makes it so difficult, so impossible and of course, so amazing. The cat and mouse game between the two main characters, the frustration, the mistakes they both make and the palpable, raw sentiments leave the reader with no choise but to become a part of this story.
Kira has been through enough already, she can't take anymore of the heartache and the negligence of her feelings from the one she always loved. He frankly put her through some serious drama and the consecutive disrespect of her wants has to stop. Now it's her time to decide how it will all end.. Go Kitty..
THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
- I loved the whole book, even the devastating parts. I was so invested to the story, that some scenes really damaged my romantic heart, but let's face it, we are all masochists when it comes to book drama.
- Ryan was awesome, i see a story there..
- I love how Kira didn't yield for a happily ever after. Brayden's grovelling days are not over yet.
- I found it very realistic. I wanted to kill Bray at some points, but his inner voice was honest.
- Dual POV, but i think most of it was from Bray's point. I guess the next one will be more from Kira's.
- And now that we talk about the next one, the expert in the end of the book, is incredible.
- The scene in his bed was scorching hot.
- Such a good story, not just flowers and hearts, but real pain and sorrow.
- Ugh! I knew that Brayden would do those crazy shit. Amanda was a huge mistake, but i forgive him only because of the way he confessed his love for Kira..
- The tattoos, awww!
- I pressume Brayden was talking about something like that.. It's not with the black cat, but this one has red hair so.. I found it charming..

Brayden and Kira have been bestfriends since they were kids. They have always felt something for each other from the very first moment they met, but it took them years to understand their feelings.
When they're finally admitting how they feel about each other, Kira's mother and Brayden's father tell them that they're getting married.
From that moment, they try to move on, but what if they can't?? What if they can't bury their feelings?
When I requested this one, I had no idea it was going to be such an angsty read. This is me and angst.
(I'm the one who gets beaten in case you are wondering it).
No need to say that it was hard for me to read this one, but I'm glad I didn't read it alone.
The beginning of this book was really good. I started it at night and read til 18% and I immediately told Patty that I had good feelings about this one.
But at some point the two MCs really drove me nuts and I couldn't understand their actions. I didn't like either Brayden or Kira and I can easily say that Ryan, Kira's older brother, was the character I liked the most.
It really bothered me that this book was just about sex. They said they were so in love with each other, but I don't think I've read of anything else but their need to have sex with each other.
I think this story could have been easily written in just a book, instead of a series, because some parts were repetitive IMO. I'm a curious person and I'll most likely read book two. I have a feeling that book two won't be this angsty!
I really liked some scenes, but there were a few things that really got me mad, that's why it wasn't a solid 3 star read for me.

Brayden and Kira have been bestfriends since they were kids. They have always felt something for each other from the very first moment they met, but it took them years to understand their feelings.
When they're finally admitting how they feel about each other, Kira's mother and Brayden's father tell them that they're getting married.
From that moment, they try to move on, but what if they can't?? What if they can't bury their feelings?
When I requested this one, I had no idea it was going to be such an angsty read. This is me and angst.
(I'm the one who gets beaten in case you are wondering it).
No need to say that it was hard for me to read this one, but I'm glad I didn't read it alone.
The beginning of this book was really good. I started it at night and read til 18% and I immediately told Patty that I had good feelings about this one.
But at some point the two MCs really drove me nuts and I couldn't understand their actions. I didn't like either Brayden or Kira and I can easily say that Ryan, Kira's older brother, was the character I liked the most.

Need is a forbidden should-we shouldn't-we NA erotic romance with a bunch of relationship angst.
It was totally based around relationship drama, this wasn't for me. It was repetitive. It was one slow clit-tease. There's loadsa man-ho'ing and a bunch of slut-shaming.
That said, the almost-sex scenes were on fire. The sexually aggressive nature of our hero was hot. The heroine was very cool and pretty kick ass.
For my friends that don't like cheating...

March 10, 2015I have made the decision to part ways with this book, I started it 1 week ago, got to 25% and I can’t bring myself to restart it. I won’t call it a DNF as there is nothing wrong with the writing or the story line per se. The issues are solely my own, and as such I don’t really want to influence anyone else in their choice of reading the book or not. It is also part one or two, and I know for certain I don’t have the energy to deal with the angst levels for another book, let alone for the rest of this one.
Forbidden romances of any form are a favorite trope of mine, and Need certainly ticks the boxes on that front, my issue is with the age of the H/h, 18 and 15 respectively at the point where I stopped. I am by no means a prude or even naïve enough to believe that nowadays sex amongst kids of this age is not a regular thing, but it just doesn’t sit right with me when an 18 year old guy is going at it like a porn star, and his best friend’s 15 year old sister catches him in the act. Add to that they have feelings for each other (which they have acknowledged), but unexpectedly then become step-siblings and it all gets me a little…itchy. Even 21 and 18 would have sat better, but on this occasion I am going to call it a day.
I will reiterate; there is nothing wrong with this book. There is nothing wrong with the writing or the story line; it just didn’t hit the right notes with me as a reader on this occasion.

Wow....just WOW!! This book has it all: boy-next-door romance, puppy love, coming-of-age, angst, humor, love, angst, gut-wrenching introspection---did I mention angst?
Loved reading through the dual POV of the main characters. I totally adore Brayden. He makes no pretenses about who he is and what he wants .. and then, when he finally comes to terms with his in-depth feelings, there is no stopping him--at least that's how it appears but suddenly he does a 360 and at one point, I tossed my Kindle I was so freaking pissed at him!!!
The chemistry between Kira and Brayden is off the charts, and while I understand the fact that Kira has been burnt more than once by him, I did get a bit frustrated at her reactions in a couple of places. I'm so glad the authors put a chapter of the next book in at the end because damn, if I had to wait for the climax (no pun intended) any longer I would have burst a blood vessel of my own!
I recommend this book to those who enjoy angsty, forbidden love romances in a contemporary environment. It is very well written and the characters are developed nicely. I felt totally invested. I look forward to the next book!

3.5 mucho sexual tension meets misery-fest stars.
Ok, so this book was a big old tease...
I know KI Lynn is the master at creating mucho sexual tension, so I was all sorts of excited when I saw this new collaboration part written by her that combines two of my current fave plots - forbidden love with childhood friends to lovers - alongside all of the angst that comes with fancying your best friend's sister.
When 10 year old Brayden gets new neighbours, he has a ready-made best friend in Ryan and Ryan's younger sister Kira. Inseparable through childhood, Ryan and Brayden tease Kira but they are fiercely protective over her too. As they get older, the friendship between Brayden and his best friend's sister becomes more, but her age and her status as his best friend's sister means that both of them have to put up with friendship. And the older the get, the more intense that attraction becomes.
The sexual tension in this really surpassed my expectations. It was incredible; erotic, intense, passionate, desperate and oh so naughty and forbidden. This was actually one of the best examples I've read of sexual tension, and given that the tension is sustained for the whole story, that's saying something.
I just needed a little more loving. Yes, the sexual tension was there, but I wanted the squidgy belly feels too. There was a little of that at the beginning where they're kids and best friends, but as they get older, it all became about Brayden's throbbing (and, as an aside, frequently it was 'weeping'. Not sure that I like my fictional cocks weeping. Seeping, yes, but weeping suggests the presence of sores and infection and that was a bit of a buzz kill. I digress) manhood trying to burrow its way into Kiera's lady bits. As I said, the tension was there, but if all of that stripped was away, I wasn't all that convinced they actually liked one another. And I need that romancing to be in true story bliss.
My other issue was their ages. We first meet Brayden and Ryan when they are 10 and Kira when she's seven, so with Brayden three years older, he becomes (almost) of age and becomes sexually active while Kira is still a child. I was torn at this point because Brayden did start putting himself around at 15 which also seems uncomfortably young to me. Perhaps I'm in denial because my son turns 15 this year, I don't know, but that was difficult for me personally to read about. When 12-year-old Kira then becomes upset at Brayden poking away at anything that he can rut with but is lusting after him herself, then I was officially thrown into mother hen mode.
As they grow older, both families' circumstances change and it's not just Kira's age and the fact that Brayden's best friend is Kira's brother that stands in their way. I cannot lie, once my mother hen feathers had settled down and Kira turned 16, I was loving all of the searing glances and forbidden trysts. Neither of them can stay in the same room without Brayden's manhood glowing red and seeping liquid love everywhere and Kira's lady bits going into full on throb mode. But the barriers that stood in their way meant that whenever either of them tried to move on, the other was hurt. And as this was narrated in first person, I felt every bit of that hurt and anger. I was furious first at Brayden, then at Kira, then at Brayden again. I felt like I was caught in a recurring and painful loop of seething resentment with one or the other of them for the whole damn book:
Total bloody delicious agony.
This is the first of a two part story, and the end is unresolved rather than a cliffhanger. I'll definitely be looking out for the second book and hoping these two can finally find what they're looking for.
Recommended if you're in the mood for an angsty and erotic read with lots of sexual tension this will fit the bill.

Even if I didn't read the all book I'm actually rating it because I skimmed through the rest of the book and the problem is not the writing style which is pretty good, it's more the way the story is told and what is happening or what's not happening.
I had the chance to review the book but once again I felt misled by the blurb.
When you read a summary it's supposed to tease you, just enough to give you the desire to read the book. In this case, it tells you everything.
Brayden and Kira have known each other since they are little kids. And while growing up, they start developing certain feelings toward each other without the other knowing.
One day when they believe something could finally happen between them, their parents made a decision that will change their future forever; they decide to get married. Brayden and Kira will then become stepbrother and stepsister...
While I like some angst in my book, here it was non stop. Brayden doesn't accept the truth, with the 3 years gasp between him and Kira + the fact she is now considered as part of his family, his need for her is stronger than ever. He doesn't want to cross a line, he doesn't want their relation to be illegal.
It's the beginning of his own nightmare. It was so sad, so hard, so heart-breaking to read Brayden pov.

Kira is no better. She want him so much, yet he is the one who keep pushing her away and instead of understand why he had to do it, she is mostly angry at him. She acted like a spoiled child and every time she could she was tempting him.
I should have look better because when I requested the book and when I added it I thought it was a standalone. So this is on me but after I skimmed the other half of the book I still don't understand why the book couldn't be contain in one book. They are parts which are too repetitive. It's always good to have a full view with several years in a story like this but here it was too much. Nothing is happening! So I some point I gave up!
That being said, Brayden was one dirty talker and I might take a look at book 2 because they might be some interesting actions in there

Holy hell.
This book.
I can't even.
Step-brother books are on the rise but I promise you, you want to read this one!!!
Brayden and Kira, along with her brother Ryan, have been friends forever - since Kira and Ryan moved next to Brayden. Even at a young age, Brayden had a soft spot for Kira.
As they mature, the chemistry between them grows out of control. Only to come crashing to a halt when Brayden's dad and Kira's mom announce that they are getting married.
The way these two characters suffer is so heartbreaking. They are trying so hard to NOT want each other.
"No guy in the universe has ever wanted a girl as much as I want her. I'm sure of it. Denying myself that sweet little body is taking more effort than anything I've ever done in my life."
I love that we get alternating POV. Being in both of their heads makes you want to reach into the book and comfort them!! They are in this impossible situation. As long as their parents are married, they can't have a future together. But every time Kira sees Brayden with another girl, her heart breaks just a little bit more.
Brayden tries. He tries so hard to get over her. He tries to move on. He pushes Kira away and tries to distract himself with school, with other girls, with working out, with anything. But Kira is under his skin. Nothing works.
"I'm her man. She's my girl. I'm coming for her, whether she wants me to or not."
Things I love about this book:
- Alternating POV.
- The writing is amazing. I'm a big fan of KI Lynn. I haven't read anything by N. Isabelle Blanco, but I'm putting her on my list now!! I couldn't stop turning the pages.
- Kira and Brayden are just so drawn drawn to each other. The magnetic pull they have is soooooo intense. It made my heart race.
- This isn't an insta-love book. They have so many challenges in the way of a HEA.
- Forbidden love/taboo stories are just so enticing to read about. But in this case, I can't help but feel for the impossible situation these two are in. I mean, if they had already started dating before their parent's got together, would it be taboo for the parents to date? But the fact that their parents blindsided them with their relationship just made all the good feelings they had for each other...wrong.
- Scorching hot, panty melting, steam bellowing out of your kindle scenes.
- This book makes you FEEL. I felt lust, anguish, panic, love, jealousy, anger, frustration, sadness, happiness....this book made me feel everything.
I don't want to spoil the ending.
All I want to say is thank GOD for the sneak peek at part two, Take.
Bottom line: this book is amazing. READ IT!!!!

Wow....WOW....WOW!!!
Absolute perfection!
I can always count on KI Lynn to write a fantastic book with sizzling hot scenes. I wasn't sure how it would all come together with her writing with a partner. Well.....it was still Fucking fantastic!! I couldn't tell who wrote what scene, the writing flowed and blended perfectly together. These 2 authors Need (<---see what I did there) to continue to write together. They are an explosive writing team.
Need is a step-sibling romance. But before you say "it's all been done before" don't count this one out. It's beautifully written with characters who are damaged and need love. They both mess up along the way, but we are all human and mistakes happen. Be prepared to be taken on a journey filled with love, lust, ANSGT, and heartache.
I absolutely cannot wait for book 2. Book 1 ends in a CH, but it's not a bad one. And we don't have too long to wait for it. Keep those books a coming ladies! We NEED more from you!

3.5 stars ... I'm not a big fan of angst and this book has bucket loads of it !! There were times I wanted to slap these characters ( mostly Brayden - for the way he treated Kira ) and there were those times where I understood why things were the way they were .
Looking forward to reading book 2 for sure .
