In this second rousing tale in the Chiasson series, New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant delivers a scorching tale about a woman running from her past and the only man who can save her.
ONE FAMILY TORN APART…
Ava Ledet has had a hard time forgiving her father for walking out on her to hunt the supernatural. When Ava returns to the bayous to visit a friend and attempt to gain some closure, she’s confronted by the ghosts of her past. Unfortunately, that’s not the only darkness descending upon her. An evil unlike anything she’s ever encountered has focused on her, and she’s forced to put her life in the hands of a handsome hunter if she’s to live another day.
ANOTHER CURSED…
Gorgeous, loyal Lincoln Chiasson always has his brothers’ backs, and when his cousin from New Orleans needs his help after being cursed by a Voodoo priestess, he’s among the first to offer assistance. Until he sets eyes on Ava. After that, protecting her becomes more important than anything. Or anyone. But can he win her trust – and her love – while keeping her safe from his family?
Donna is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of over a hundred novels. Her most popular series is the breathtaking Dark King (aka Dragon King) series featuring dragons, immortal Highlanders, and the Fae.
In addition to her novels, Donna has written short stories, novellas, and novelettes for digital-first and print release. She has been dubbed as giving the “paranormal genre a burst of fresh air” by the San Francisco Book Review. Her work has been hailed as having “deft plotting and expert characterization” by Publisher’s Weekly and “sizzling” by RT Book Reviews.
She has been recognized with awards from both bookseller and reader contests including the National Reader’s Choice Award, Booksellers Best Award, as well as the coveted K.I.S.S. Award from RT Book Reviews.
Donna travels often for various speaking engagements, conferences, and book signings. She is also a frequent workshop presenter at national conferences such as RT Book Lovers Convention and Thrillerfest, as well as local chapters.
Born and raised in Texas, she also has ties across the border in Louisiana. Growing up with two such vibrant cultures, her Cajun side of the family taught her the “spicy” side of life while her Texas roots gave her two-steppin’ and bareback riding. She is never far from her faithful 80 pound dog, Sisko, or her three cats. She can often be found at the movies or bookstore with her children. Or buying makeup. And shoes.
I think my issue with this book is the whole thing takes place in about 48 hours and yet they manage to fall in love and the heroine completely uproots her life to be with the hero. They are just too short to have enough depth to really be enjoyable.

Oh, they just keep getting better and better!
Being stuck outside on a 12x12 plot of land while running for your lives may not be the perfect first date, but it worked for Linc and Ava. Their story was dangerous, action packed, and chock full of yummy sexual tension.
I liked Ava's drive. She's a bit of a damaged daddy's girl, but she doesn't get whiny about it. She takes action and goes to get answers. And Lincoln is pure Alpha Male - he has heart, he has strength, he's courageous and kind and protective, but he's also got that bit of bad boy edge that makes you melt. The two of them together were fun. They danced around each other so well that by the time they finally gave into their desires, the tension was so thick it was like this massive reading relief. LOL
I really liked Vincent (the hero of Wild Fever), but Linc is totally my new book boyfriend! He can polish his Bowie knives around me any day. :)
"Wild Dream" by Donna Grant. Book 2 in the Chiasson series.
I liked this second book of the Chiasson series. This book is about Chiasson brother, Lincoln and Ava, a friend of Olivia's (Wild Fever - Book 1). This book can absolutely be read as a stand alone but may be more enjoyed if you read the first book and become familiar with all the other characters and all the Chiasson brothers. As with the first book, this story is a novella and the story line is established very quickly.
Ava is visiting her friend Olivia in Louisiana but that's not the only reason she's going. She's on a mission to find her father that abandoned her and her mother over 14 years ago. When she learns Olivia is dating Vincent Chiasson, she can't believe it. The Chiassons are the ones responsible for her father's disappearance. She wants absolutely nothing to do with them. But when she meets Lincoln Chiasson, there's an undeniable attraction between them. When her life is threatened by a werewolf, Lincoln comes to her rescue.
As these stories are novella length and the story line moves very quickly, I won't say any more about the story line. I don't want to spoil the story for you. The background of each character is established very well giving you a feel for the characters' emotions and their reasons for their actions. The chemistry between Lincoln and Ava is simmering and teasing. The story line was engaging and interesting. I enjoyed the mystery of finding out what happened to Ava's father. The story also introduces the Chiasson's cousins, the LaRue family, setting up the spin-off series about the LaRues.
Overall, I found this novella fun to read and would be a good read when you need that paranormal romance fix.
Ava is visiting from New Orleans. She doesn't know that the people she visits are of the Chiasson family. She is instant attracted to Lincoln and he feels the same towards her. She is being hunted by the wicked witch who holds a grudge towards her family.
Kade has been bewitched into sniffing her out, but Lincoln is there to cat her. It's well developed and well portrayed. Lincoln falls for her and she wants him too. It's well paced, interesting and romantic. She is looking for her absent father. Will she find him? Lincoln and his brothers call in reinforcement to save Ava. Unfortunately Kade is out of commission and Solomon is there to save him. Together, the brothers and Solomon devise a plan to save Ava from Kade. It all works out in the end and Lincoln and Ava get what they want. Worth the read. Great storline.
Lincoln knows what goes bump in the night is all too often very real, and very scary. His family has been fighting the paranormal for generations, after all.
Ava is visiting her friend Olivia when she realizes that the Chiasson family might know more about her father that disappeared fourteen years ago - after all, her father was out hunting with them.
A bigger worry is close on their tails when one of their werewolf cousins in New Orleans irritated a voodoo priestess. She cursed him to hunt Ava and kill her - thereby also sentencing him to death knowing that the Chiassions won't allow him to live.
Wild Dream is a very fast paced novella I could not put down.
When Ava returns home to visit a friend she never thought that she would be hunted by a wolf, one who was cursed to stop at nothing until she was dead. Lincoln Chiasson is a hunter along with his brothers, they fight the supernatural to protect the innocent. Lincoln has a strong attraction to Ava and will stop at nothing to save her.
This second book in the Chiasson series such a good read. I love the Chiasson brothers, and this story is about Lincoln and Ava. A well written love story with good drama and action. I'm looking forward to the next one:)
Another great installment! My only real issue with this series so far is that the books are too short. There is so much I feel could be expounded on and explored, but I'm happy with the quick read and getting to know the Chiasson family.
I loved the storyline. Donna Grant knows how to capture her readers and keep them wanting more. The characters work really good together. Can't wait for book 3 in this series.
Loved this book! Donna Grant always writes great stories and this one is no different. It is a quick read and the entire series isn't very long so do yourself a favor and read it!
I get the feeling that with every book I am going to fall for the Chiasson boys more and more. Ava has come back home to find out why her father walked out on her family years ago. She just didn’t realize that her friend Olivia is with one of the member of the family she blames for her dad leaving. Lincoln and his brothers have a big problem, their cousin needs their help. When he finds out that Ava is alone in the night with Kane on the lose he makes his choice to find her. I love Linc but I honestly can’t wait for Christian to meet his match.
This was okay. I like the world, but it was a short read, and the insta-love trope isn't my favorite. It was a quick escape from reality, so I'm going on to the next one.
wild-dream-chiasson-donna-grantAva Ledet hasn’t been back to the bayou since her mom packed her up and left 14 years ago, shortly after Ava’s father left them to go hunting the supernaturals with the Chiasson family. Now she’s back to hunt down her dad once and for all and to confront him for the wrongs he’s committed. But while she’s there, she’s going to stay with her friend, Olivia, and meet her new man! But if she had known that Olivia was involved with a Chiasson she never would have come.
The Chiasson boys are on high alert when they hear that their cousin, Kane, is headed to them during the full moon. A Voodoo Priestess has cursed him to not know he’s part human when he shifts into a wolf, making him a killing machine. It’s up to the Chiassons to intercept him and contain him until the full moon is past, and to keep both Kane and all the innocent bystanders safe. But once Linc lays his eyes on Ava, that’s the only thing he wants to protect.
I always love me a good Donna Grant read! And, it’s no secret that I’m not a big novella fan, but I must admit that I’m really enjoying this series of novellas! It’s a quick fun romance that you can quickly finish in one sitting!
Ava is a powerful lawyer who is used to taking care of herself! But her past still haunts her. What can turn a loving family man like her father into someone who would just abandon those he claims to love? She has an instant attraction to Linc, but can’t bear to suffer the same fate as her mother.
Linc. What can I say? He’s another charismatic male lead from the steamy mind of Donna Grant! I loved everything about this guy! Sexy, fun, and protective, a man who knows what he wants and goes for it. What’s not to love?
This story, like the predecessor in the series, Wild Fever, did leave some loose ends open. I’m hoping that we’ll see everything wrapped up nice and neat by the series end (not that I’m in any hurry to get to the end). The length of these stories do limit how much can be resolved in each book, and I’m glad that they aren’t bogged down with pointless facts. The romances are a bit rushed, but are still to the steamy quality that we expect from Donna Grant. I just wish we could see more of these amazing couples!
NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 REVIEW: All the Chiasson brothers has been hell bent on not having women in their lives. That worked really well until Vincent had to go and get himself in love with Olivia. But the other brothers are still taking that stand. But needless to say that doesn’t work out so well for Lincoln. The minute he sees Ava he knows he is doomed. But falling for Ava is only half of Lincoln’s problem. There is a werewolf on the loose and he has Ava in his sights.
Wild Dreams is novella number 2 in Donna Grant’s new Chiasson series. Wild Dreams was just as good as Wild Fever. But like any good novella Wild Dreams gave us a great quick read but left us wanting more. Oh and we get to meet the LaRue cousins and learn just a tad bit about them. I am looking forward the need book in this novella series Wild Need.
Disclaimer: I purchased this book. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.
Rate - 4.5 stars - This is the second story in the Chiasson Series, about a loyal and caring family of brothers and the dangers they face – their love for one another really is in forefront and we now see these same values may hold true in their LaRue cousins. In this story we get the meeting of Linc and Ava, they are perfect together, with continual sexual tension coming from both of them along with lots of danger and action. I liked Ava, she is not whiny, she can hold her own and she had come to the bayou with questions and she is determined to get answers. Lincoln, what more can you say, he is pure Alpha, with a tremendous loyalty to his brothers and all family members that was as sharp as the blades on his Bowie knives he carries and I loved the bad-boy vibe he gives off. My only complaint is these stories are too similar to a serial, too short but Ms. Grant’s writing style is truly fantastic because the story may be short but it holds your interest from beginning to end.
The Chiasson brothers of Louisiana hunt and destroy evil beings (think Supernatural except there are 4 brothers and they don't travel around).
Ava, attorney and friend to Oliva from book one comes back to Louisiana for a visit to come to grips with her past and the father she thinks abandoned her. She and Lincoln are immediately drawn to each other. Circumstances and a threat to Ava result in Lincoln becoming her protector.
Much like the first book, the plotting is thin and it would be lovely to have more time and progression of the relationship. Still, I find myself liking the characters and wanting to see what happens with Christian and Beau and eventually Riley.
These books suffer in plot because of how short they are. When Lincoln asks Ava if she'll stop running from him, it's a ridiculous question because she only turned away from him once. And when she says to herself she almost walked away from him - it had only been a little over 24 hours, most of it trapped by a werewolf, she didn't almost do anything! I don't think I'll be reading the rest of this series unless they are long enough to have a real plot and character development.
This is the second book in the Chiasson saga and it doesn't disappoint!
What a great way to get to know each other! Ava and Linc are stuck together on a small piece of land fighting for their lives and their feelings for each other.
This was a quick, suspenseful, and sexy read that had me wondering what would happen next! Can't wait for the next one :)
