Multi-award-winning author of more than twenty best-selling Regency Historical Romances, Donna Hatch is a hopeful romantic and an adventurer at heart. Each book she writes is filled with wit and heart and plenty of swoon-worthy romance. Donna sings, plays the harp, and loves to ballroom dance. Her family, including six children and two cats, recently left their native Arizona for the Pacific coast of the US. No matter where they live, she and her husband of over twenty years are proof that there truly is a happily ever after.
Short, sweet, funny. Those are the words that I would use to describe each of the books in order.
This is a book that you want to pick up if you don't have time to get into a full length story, but really want a quick romance book. The stories are short. The first is just a few pages long. Each do well at showing a moment in time in the characters life. For short stories, I felt that I knew the characters well enough and didn't feel anything lacking in the story.
I already own the Kindle version of these stories, but I loved them so much and was so excited to see them compiled in this collection I had to by the hardcopy version as well! Great stories!
The Reluctant Bride I loved the opening scene, it really draws you into the story and makes you want to keep reading. Although it was short, it was a fun story. I do wish it was a full length novel, but with my hectic schedule it was nice to read a fun short story. I love the regency setting and of course I'm a sucker for HEA endings.
Constant Hearts I normally get frustrated with short stories...they're too short! While I would have loved for this to be a full-length novel, it worked out perfectly for my very busy schedule. Amy and Reed have great chemistry together. I think the tension and obstacles could have been expanded, but was really well written so it didn't seem too easily resolved. Overall, a very fun read and also very clean. I love Donna Hatch and will buy anything she writes. I like that she is able to keep her books clean, but still has tons of romance and romantic tension. When I saw this short story was available I bought it instantly! I can't wait for her to write more books!
Emma's Dilemma I was so excited when I found out Ms Hatch had written a new short story. I loved the idea of a regency with a vampire twist. I thought this was a very fun read, Emma was a likable heroine. Bennett was swoon worthy and I could see why Emma wanted to be with him, even if he was a vampire! Super cute and leaves you with a smile on your face!
I had one more Donna Hatch book to read: Three Short Tales…” All three are very fast reads. My 4-star review goes to “Constant Hearts: Inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion”. Being quite familiar with “Persuasion” I can see why it inspired the story. But I have to compliment Donna Hatch as her story was very creative on its own. It stands easily with its own merit and I enjoyed it! My only comment is the name “Dasherwood” – seriously??
I liked the first one, “The Reluctant Bride”. It was very short and sweet – had that one called right almost immediately. Still fun though! 3 stars.
The last one, “Emma’s Dilemma” was ok. 2 stars.
Short stories are not my favorite but Donna Hatch is a fun author for me so I’ll pass time with just about anything she writes. My conclusion: if you like DH, then by all means - read it.
