Relationships between humans and vampires are never easy, especially when they both work for the NYPD.
Detective Jack Van Pierre is no ordinary detective. He is no ordinary vampire either. One thing is for sure, he is intent on delivering justice in his own special way. He is a vampire that only preys on the blood of criminals and he has been cleaning up New York for the past 10 years all by himself.
However, the heat is on and it might only be a matter of time before his secret is exposed. With the FBI snooping around and a mysterious individual intent on digging up his past it might be time for Jack to leave and make a clean break for it.
Only problem is his new found love for a human girl named Olivia. Can Jack risk hanging around long enough to make their relationship work?
I really enjoyed how the author built all the main characters. A wonderful mix of intrigue, mystery, love, and HEA. The only thing is the love scenes, they would be totally clothed, then the act is occurring. Disconnect in flow. At any rate an excellent story.
I enjoyed reading the stories 😊. The characters and background information was believable and enriching. I look forward to reading the brother's story.
This was a good 3 book series with a possibility of a new story coming out. And my first time reading Author J.J. Jones work and I am very happy with my first foray into her story.
Detective Jack Van Pierre aka Vampire and Olivia his human lady love. This was a very interesting story. This was not your typical vampire character which I found intriguing. Jack was a Vampire that could walk in the daylight, had a beating heart, needed blood to sustain himself and had no idea on how to court a woman which I found so hysterical.
Olivia was an officer who would work with Jack from time to time but had a hopeless crush on him for years. Olivia is a good cop and hoping to make detective soon. She has had relationships but they were crap and in Jack so saw a very real possibility of having something special with him, if only he would notice her. Jack of course was totally oblivious to it all had no idea, he had a job to do and was solely focused on that.
But now they have been working together because there are murders happening around the city, where the victims blood is being drained from their bodies. Nobody knows who or what it is and because of the nature of the crime, the person or persons is dubbed the vampire vigilante.
Detective Jack and officers Olivia and Tom, all work together to try and solve these rash of murders. In all of this Jack and Olivia begin a whirlwind romance, that if discovered by Brogan who is their boss at the precinct could lead to termination for the both of them. As they draw closer, somebody is drawing closer to Jack and that could lead to the exposure of what and who he really is. Olivia has found out that he is a vampire but doesn't care and want to be with him anyway. Jack knows that if he is discovered not only will he be in danger but Olivia as well.
Can these two stay ahead of those who are trailing and Jack? Will Jack stay around now that it is really heating up between him and Olivia? Or will after centuries of being alive come to an end? The only way to find out is to read their story.
The trilogy was appealing for it's unconventional premise, yet conventional cop story and romance. At first I was put off by the more simple language, but then respected and understood the simple thought pattern of the character to the story. Furthermore, the directness and simplicity also made for a more flowing, refreshing, and easy read. I vote yes! on a novel length continuation.
OK, not the best set of books I've read but enjoyable none the less. The only problem is at least one missing word on almost every page, however your brain fills in any gaps. Other than that, it's a perfectly good no brained of a read to pass the time.
I cannot recommend this Trilogy highly enough! I seriously hope JJ writes MORE of Detective Vampire! The characters in this story are phenomenally created! I absolutely LOVE Jack! Olivia is fantastic! I LOVE this story!! Definitely want to see this be written into a LONG Series!
