Dark Horizon: A Small Town Post Apocalypse EMP Thriller

Rate this book
No power. No law. Just the fight for survival.

When an EMP wipes out power across the nation, the world descends into darkness. In a city teetering on the edge of collapse, Dr. Annabelle Wheeler struggles to survive in a psychiatric hospital overrun by its violent inmates. Far away, three young women—Hazel, Lucy, and Katherine—are trapped in a burning high-rise and captured by a ruthless gangster. Without power, help, or hope, John and Tobias, two former Marines, must navigate a crumbling city, battling violent gangs and the elements, on a desperate mission to save their daughters before it's too late. In a world without power, survival is the only goal.

Thrilling

While there were a few things that I found to be distracting to the novel, the one thing I can't deny is the tension I felt while reading it. I also caught myself holding my breath a couple of times. So for a thriller; mission accomplished.

The worst EMP novel I've ever read

I like the characters on this novel.

The language I talked was stilted. The fact that whatever enemy it was was still shooting rockets and bombs just didn't work.

Very intense

In this day and age, with the world so full of hate, this story was scary on a different level than most thrillers. The monsters in other thrillers, you know aren't real, but in this one, the monsters are humans.

From the start, this book was so good, fast-paced, and frightening, I loved it.

Very good

I liked this story. Ordinary people overcoming the odds. I also liked that this story does not have endless sequels, the entire story in one go.

Wow this was a poorly written book. Why are all the women so dense and naive? Why are all the men so willing to protect each other and hurt the women? Why are they also so gross?

It's not too bad.
Dialogue is very poor and somewhat out of character at times.
Ending felt rushed, but at least it doesn't end in a cliffhanger.
