Good details

This one has a lot more words to the reader and the facts and is also good for the grammar years. The pictures are good here too but have to be zoomed in upon to be enjoyed.

"A Great Introduction to Wolves for Children"

This is a wonderful introduction for children to the life and world of the wolf. Wolves have been around for hundreds of years. They are also behind most breeds of dogs today which have been bred to be domesticated (tame) and social with humans. Many dogs today may resemble wolves, i.e., German Shepherds, and many northern breeds like Alaskan Malamute, Eskimo Dog, and Northern Inuit Dog, to name just a few. But wolves are wild and can be very dangerous if confronted in the woods or mountains. They have 42 teeth and strong jaws and hunt small game like rabbits and squirrels; but they also hunt in packs to take down larger animals like deer and sheep. Yes, sheep! And that's why wolves are endangered today because ranchers are quick to protect their flocks and herds from roaming wolves. Wolves are very loyal to their packs, like family brothers and sisters. Emma Child does a great job producing children-friendly guides of all animals in our world. Children will love this wolf guide with many fun facts throughout the pages. Very educational. A must for creating a great library for children.

Wolves are fascinating creatures, majestic, proud animals who do not deserve the rap they're given. Right now, Iowa and various other states in the USA are doing their best to wipe out the whole species - so that there will be more elk for the shooting season. Wonderful idea, I don't think. Finland has around 85 (just the other day, there may be none now) wolves left in the whole country.

This is why Emma Child's book about wolves is so terribly important. It's necessary to know about their lives, their history and their beauty, because these type of books are all that's going to be left in the future. Would that the perpetrators of these crimes against nature could wipe themselves out with such enthusiasm before they destroy a species.

Well written and incredibly informative, let's hope this book changes the minds of parents and their children about the nature of wolves and their place in the ecological system. I hope it's not too late.

Another great little book by Emma Child in the series about various animals, complete with great colour photos and easy to remember facts, for example, did you know wolves have blue eyes when they're born, or that there are 34 other species related to wolves? These, and much more are revealed.

The types of wolves are also presented with where they live in the world with a good discussion on endangered species. Wolves ~Fun Facts and Amazing Photos of Animals in Nature ~ Book 8 would make an excellent book for older elementary students interested in science.

I really enjoy reading these books by Emma Child. They are very informative and, even for an old geezer like me, there's always something I didn't know about the animals in each book. She does her research very well.

The book on wolves discuss everything from hunting techniques to various types of the species to why they howl. As usual, the text is accompanied by many good photographs of wolves.

I think small children will love this one.

REVIEW: WOLVES by Emma Child
[AMAZING ANIMAL KINGDOM BOOK EIGHT]

Wolves have been in the news a whole lot in recent years, with environmentalists opposing hunters and ranchers, each with their own views. So it's important to know facts about the wolf species, including biology, hunting and eating, raising pups, and habitats (in many unexpected regions!). The more we learn about wolves, the better we understand and relate. After all, wolves are the closest animal species to our own pet dogs!!

WOLVES: Fun Facts and Amazing Photos of Animals in Nature (Amazing Animal Kingdom Book 8) by Emma Child
We took our grandson to Cougar Mountain in WA a few years back and they did have a section for the wolves. So cool seeing them from behind the fence and how they get along with one another and things like where they sleep and what they eat.
Starts with a table of contents and each chapter starts with a color photograph and then a few paragraphs about that particular subject.
Liked hearing about all the ones I was not familiar with. My favorite would be arctic white wolf as they'd blend right into the surroundings.
Fun facts are also included at the end. There are so many more books from this author on many other animals.

The music of the wolves - the world's oldest symphony.

Ever since I read Farley Mowat's classic NEVER CRY WOLF, I've been fascinated with these beautiful, misunderstood animals. And I THOUGHT I knew quite a lot about them, so I was surprised at how much I learned in this little book.

Although this author's animal books are aimed at children, she never talks down to her audience. Instead she assumes (I believe correctly) that most children WANT to learn about things that interest them. By introducing little known facts and new concepts, she encourages her readers to expand their knowledge and to have fun doing so. What could be more satisfying to a child than learning something that most adults don't know?

I've always associated wolves with North America and knew that they were once common in Europe, but I had never heard of the Ethiopian Wolf or the Himalayan Wolf. I was astonished to learn that wolves are found living in more parts of the world than any other mammal, with the exception of humans. The information about wolf families and their complex social lives makes the reader feel how unjust it is that these intelligent and sensitive animals have been feared and hunted almost out of existence.

This is part of an out-standing series. They are thoroughly researched, well written, and the photographs are exceptional. What a great way to introduce a child to the beauty and wonder of nature.

Another fabulous book by Emma Child. It was put together very well, contained awesome pictures of real wolves, and contained lots of cool and interesting information on wolves...what they eat, where they live, etc. Along with that, Emma talked to the reader about other wolves species. Overall a very excellent book, and a job well done by Emma Child. This series is fantastic, and I would recommend it to all ages. I'm a teen, and I have really loved this series, and gets extremely excited when I have the chance to read another one.

Just about everything you ever wanted to know about wolves can be found in this content rich book. I loved the pictures that went along with the descriptions, from birth to adulthood, and just about everything in between. It tells about many interesting wolf species around the world I never knew existed. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a condensed, fact filled guide about wolves.
