**Review in Progress**

Two birthdays, a childhood storybook that involves more girls than expected to solve Raku's deepest mystery and being boyfriend of the day for the sake of a new character! Whew, what a busy volume. This children's book is tying some interestng aspects to Raku's past. I loved watching him shop for birthday presents and his companion of choice makes it even more interesting. And then Marika's old friend arrives and stirs up all sorts of trouble. Her character annoyed me a bit plus Marika is far froma favorite character as is so I honestly was less interested in that tale. The last chapter I especially loved but I won't tell you why. Read it for yourself!

This was a review copy for an English translation and I must say the translations in this volume also are a bit weak it seems. And the teaser/backstory pages were not translated at all. I really hope this is corrected for the final printing.

Much as I love this series, I put off finishing this volume, because I don't like failed Southern speech in books. I actually put a FB/GR status about this when I paused my reading of this volume. Here it is:
"If you're going to make a character speak Southern, please learn how to spell the basic words in Southern speech. Y'all is not *Ya'll*, as it does not mean *Ya Will* or *Ya Shall*. It is spelled as *Y'all*, because it means *You All*. Also, if she is speaking to 3 or 4 people (or a whole class!), it's *All Y'all* or *All of Y'all*, not just *Y'all*.
Just a basic lesson is spelling and grammar and Southern speech for people that are Yankees (Northerners) or that has no idea about how we speak in the South. As a Southerner myself, it really bugs me that people keep getting it wrong."

Now, the copy I was reading is an eARC. I can only hope the misspelling was corrected in the print release of this volume.

Other than that, it's a good volume, and this series is still going strong.

OK the plot finally thickens. After too many volumes where the stories felt like so much filler, this book jumped us into birthdays and a mysterious children's book that just makes everything that much MORE complicated.

Is anyone else having a hard time knowing which good to root for at this point?

So, we learned all about that picture book that we saw in volume ten in this installment of Nisekoi. I’m really glad the mystery unfolded a bit more in this book!

I also enjoyed getting more insight into Marika’s past. Her friend Mikage cracked me up!

It was cute to see how Onodera tried to go to the same high school as Raku during middle school, and almost didn’t make it! I didn’t realize she wasn’t great at school. I mean, I knew Chitoge and Tsugumi were both really smart, and Raku was fairly intelligent, but still. Interesting.

Overall, I really liked this volume of Nisekoi! We got some movement with the mystery girl storyline, along with insight into Marika and Onodera’s pasts. Plus, Raku’s amnesia is cured! 5 stars.

Raku gets over his amnesia in this one, thankfully, and it shows Chitoges growing feelings for him. We also get two chapters about him and Kosaki, one about them in middle school. I liked him and Haru going shopping, it was pretty cute. We also have Marika and her friend Misaki, who hints Marika may be sicker than anyone suspects. There was actually quite a bit in this volume. I'm wondering, now that we have seen more of the story book Chitoge remembered in the last few volumes, who is the fourth girl goanna be? Wish we would see more of Paula and Fu. Seshiro too. I feel like they were kinda built up just to be left by the way side.

~4/5

So the amnesia plotline comes to a close, unsurprisingly fast. Then there’s Chitoge’s birthday. We get quite a bit of Onodera in this volume, with her birthday, a chapter where she worries about her weight (which was happily not offensive), and an extra featuring her and Ichijo in middle school, with their crushes beginning back then. The biggest plot line, though, is when a friend of Marika’s shows up, who forces her and Ichijo to pretend to be dating. Mostly, though, her friend hits on all the girls she sees. It was a nice change to having all the girls fall all over Ichijo.

I love this series. It’s just so fun, and cute, and funny. The antics are always fun, whether perverted or prank-wise. But I also kind of really want Chitoge’s feelings for Ichijo to come to a head. Or his for her, either way. Or even just for another guy to show up, so we’d have less girls, though I do love their friendships.

This series is always on my list, and I’m looking forward to the next one, of course.

Zawsze in Love like the key several girls hold seem to be connected to a story binding Raku and all of his childhood friends (see harem) in a tightly bound destiny. With Raku loosing his memory in the last volume the discovery of a book with those words triggers distant memories of the amnesiac boy and although the last few pages are missing in the book they found Raku seems to recall the end was sad which is how he met the girl he made a promise to many years ago. However if everyone is connected to this book who is the 4th girl in the picture book who holds another key and what happened to her in those missing pages?

Also in this book Poor Kosaki thinks her tastings at the bakery have been making heavier so she tries to crash diet, Chitoge has a birthday party and more of the ever growing cast are invited to the party then last year, a mad dash for Raku to get Kosaki a birthday gift with Haru being his only hope to help, an old friend of Marika (just an old man in a young girl's body) comes to the school and Raku (owing Marika a favor) has to pretend to be her boyfriend, and we get a glimpse into the past of Kosaki as she and her friends try to get into the schools of their choices but it won't be easy for her as you can see if you decide to find out what happens in this zany series by reading. :)

My personal fave moment of the book is probably when Chitoge discovers a new truth after she thinks she cannot be the girl from Raku's past revitalizing her chances with him...with all of these nice girls I wonder how bad it is going to be when he finally chooses one (if he chooses one.)

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Chitoge words to Raku were so adorable💞💞

“But one time...you told me...you didn't... Hate me. You're a jerk, but you're a good guy. You're a loudmouth, but you're sweet. You're bossy, but you're always looking out for me.”

“We've been through so much together! But what doe sit matter if I'm the only one who remembers?”

This series continues to be all over the place. In this volume we get some chapters that throw more characters to us when what we need is more time with the characters that we already have. There are some really fun and cute chapters though that flesh out two of our main characters towards the end of the volume. The humor is also hit or miss.

This volume plays off the huge stereotypical trope deployed in the previous volume, and then refuses to let it be more than a temporary sideshow. The additional of yet another girl to play off of Marika didn't help the series any, and didn't even give Worst Girl a chance to change for the better.

blergh, I hated mikage. talk about lack of positive queer representation... 😡 also, way too much tachibana. do not like.

raku shopping with haru was really cute tho. I ship them platonically; I could see them becoming best friends 💕 and of course, chitoge forever. we love, we stan 😍

If you're looking for a model for a manga female character that disgusts you, Naoshi Komi is your man. Marika Tachibana is awful, but Mikage Shinohara blows her away. Only a sweet chapter with Raku and Kasoki rescues this volume from the trash heap.

I was really disappointed with how quickly Raku got his memory back. They could have done so much more with that plot.

Oh man what a volume!
Lots of laughs, some startling revelations, and much to my despair, a revelation that proved not to make my dreams for the series come true(yet!).
Lots of ups and downs, as well as a new character that I really didn't care for too much, but was entertaining in her own way.
A solid 4.5 stars, while not the strongest volume in the series, it was still a ton of fun!

Actually one of my favourite story arcs of any Romcom/harem, this one really does a fantastic job of mixing things up and revealing our characters inner thoughts. And of course, there's tons of laughs to be had while Raku gets the shit knocked out of him trying to recover his memory. Easily one of the best volumes of the series!

The mind loss thing was fun how it was resolved (gorrilla chitoge) and did give a clue.
Too bad the clue is later reviewed when Chitoge's dad explain that her eyes changed color.

MArika's friend was funny.
Poor Onodera and her weight trauma.

In general is funny, but except for a very minor clue nothing is told about the main story.
