* Update * Sadly, this is going to be my first and last review of his work from this author. I'm keeping this review up as it was an ARC and a reminder for myself not to read anything by him in the future
Hello everyone, I'm Mr. C Reviewer, and tonight we're discussing (He/Him) R.B. Hanna's book, Forever and Always.
I'd like to extend a huge thank you to the author for providing a copy of 'Forever and Always' as an E-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The book is set to be Published October 29, 2024. The narrative, told using first person perspective following Bobby and Darke, Which spans 33 chapters and 107 pages.
Summary: There’s an undeniable allure to Darke, the imposing officer who looms over me. Standing at six feet two inches, with fair skin and dark hair accented by a rugged stubble, he commands attention effortlessly. His biceps, adorned with intricate tattoos, tell stories of strength and resilience.
It seems he has taken a particular interest in me—a connection that feels both thrilling and dangerous. In this dynamic, he embodies the fierce protector, while I find myself embracing the role of his cherished prince.
Review: -I found the book to be exceptionally well-crafted, and I truly appreciated the author’s distinctive writing style. The character development was particularly impressive, enabling me to vividly visualize the characters as I read. However, I believe my enjoyment of the book could have been enhanced if certain phrases had been expressed differently. At times, some sections felt redundant, with sentences mirroring one another. There were moments when a character would articulate a thought, followed by a reiteration of that statement in the text; as readers, we already understood both the words and their implications. Additionally, there were parts where specific phrases were repeated verbatim, whereas it might have been more effective to highlight the character’s body language to convey their emotions—especially regarding the character experiencing arousal—in a more subtle manner.
I appreciated the pacing at which we were introduced to the characters in the book, making it easy to remember each one. I also enjoyed how the narrative indicated a change in perspective by labelling the character whose point of view we were following in each chapter. This feature enhanced readability, eliminating any confusion about whose perspective we were experiencing, unlike some other books. I liked that readers gained insight into the characters’ emotions during various scenes and enjoyed getting to know them better. Although I typically prefer longer chapters, I found myself engaged with this story despite its shorter chapters.
While reading, I noticed some errors, particularly at the beginning of chapter 15, where a word incorrectly had an ‘s’ added at the end when referring to a singular item in the story. I believe the ‘s’ was meant to be attached to the following word instead. (49.92%).
As someone who has read numerous erotic novels, I found the spicy scenes in this one to be quite enjoyable. However, I believe there is room for improvement. I appreciated that the book included safe sex practices within its narrative. While it depicted gay sex with characters using condoms, it notably lacked the mention of lubrication. In reality, using lubrication alongside condoms is advisable as it enhances comfort and reduces friction, thereby minimizing the risk of condom failure due to breakage or slippage caused by increased pressure on the material.
I appreciated how the text messages in the book were presented in bold, which made them stand out from the rest of the narrative. The loft house owned by the character Bobby is particularly appealing to me; it ranks among my top dream home designs. I envision a double loft with a bedroom area on the right and an expansive space on the left filled with ceiling-high built-in bookshelves, complete with a ladder. But enough of my daydreaming!
-I would have appreciated a more extended narrative with increased action, especially concerning Darke’s chosen profession. I feel that the subplot could have been more prominently highlighted in the middle and conclusion of the book. Nevertheless, I found the ending satisfying and was pleased to have read it. I’m eagerly anticipating future works from this author.
For each story that I read, I rate it out of 10 so for this am going to give it a 5 Remember this was what I thought about the book personally and I suggest that you give it a go for yourself.
I was luck enough to be able to be an ARC reader for this book. If you are not open minded to a M/M relationship, then this book is not a read for you. If you are open to all kinds of relationships, then this is a good and quick read for you.
As stated above, this is a quick read with short chapters but it’s easy to follow along with. You get to see the story line of Bobby a wedding planner and Darke a police officer. Each have a supporting character in their lives in which they vent to about the budding relationship which would be co worker Jenny to Bobby and Mike to Darke.
This is a romance and it starts with slight flirting and quickly develops into a serious relationship. They call each other sweet names; Bobby being “little prince” and Darke being “beast”. Both in which are very fitting for their character personalities and development. You go through a misunderstanding and then a reconnection between the two. It’s a good read if you’re in the mood for something quick and wanting to kill some time. It was well written, given the fact it’s a quick read.
This is a cozy little mm romance. It didn’t take long to read it at all. I liked the two characters that finally find love. I really got a feel for each of their personalities. Darke is very dominate in the bedroom which I kinda liked.
I was a little confused if Darke actually was seeing somebody else? He said it was a misunderstanding but says he apologizes. I got lost. It could be clearer and more detailed, because having conflict in the relationship made it more intense and suspenseful.
These boys move fast. They don’t waste much time getting to the spicy stuff.
I follow Bobby on social media and was excited he wrote his debut novel. Looking forward to book 2 and see how he developes as a writer.
This novella was absolutely the most adorable story I have read in a long time! I am obsessed with the characters and I cannot wait to read the next one in the series! The love and support that surround these two characters are so amazing! This book gave me hope that one day this “little princess” can find her own “beast”. I highly recommend reading this novella and will be recommending this to all of my book reading friends!
I want to thank the Author for an Arc copy of the book. I’ve been debating on writing this review for a while.
I’d like to say I’m a friend of the author but I do have to give honest feedback as a reader.
I ended up DNFing the book, and tried contacting the author about some things I found on the book that could have been changed. There was a lot of inconsistencies and I felt the author could have done more research on careers.
For instance Bobby being a wedding planner who is off on weekends? 95% of weddings and events are held on weekends so… not sure how good of a wedding planner someone could be if they never work any of the events themselves. Coming from a photographer background myself and shooting tons of weddings the wedding planner or event planners were always at the event. Even my own wedding my planner and her assistant was there.
The other issue I saw was when they agreed upon a date and the office was going to pick Bobby up Bobby gave him his address… but the officer already knows where he lives from a previous chapter he had dropped Bobby off at his home.
There were a lot of grammatical errors as well, I can typically push past them. I felt the author should have had some beta readers prior to arc readers before releasing the book to catch any grammar and inconsistencies throughout the book.
I feel like the book has potential, but I also feel like it needs to be a little longer to give some character growth. I found myself not wanting to pick up the book and read it because there were so many inconsistencies that I had to go back and double check to make sure I read something right prior.
All and all the book needs work, but the spice was written fairly well.
I received this as an eARC from R. B. Hanna in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
Oh. My. Gosh. I loved this book! I’ve never been a romance or erotica reader until recently. This is actually my first foray into it, in all honesty. But my gosh, am I glad I read it. This book was incredibly fast-paced and very, very hot.
Bobby is an introverted wedding planner with a couple friends (both of whom I loved as characters and wished I saw a bit more of) when he meets the handsome, tattooed Officer Darke Mack. Nicknamed “little prince” by Darke, Bobby falls into a world of love and lust. And my gosh, do we get some steamy scenes.
I loved their relationship so much and the two of them alone. Both Bobby and Darke had equal page time and each got to share their stories together. I saw a lot of myself in Bobby, being a gay introvert still waiting for his love. Darke is a dream man I wished existed myself. I loved how both his strength and sensitivity were able to coexist without judgement. We love strong, sensitive men in this house.
One thing I wished about this book was that it was longer. I mean the spicy scenes were perfect, but I felt that there were a couple loose ends and scenes that went by very fast and I wish were covered a bit more. Then again, I was here for the spice, and I certainly wasn’t disappointed in that retrospect.
Thank you to R. B. Hanna for the opportunity to read your wonderful book and I look forward to reading more.
I will start off by saying I haven't read many M/M romance novels, but I honestly very much enjoyed this one.
The dynamic between the 2 main characters Darke a cop, and Bobby a wedding planner is very cute. They start off shy trying to figure out each other and it turned into a cute romance in a small town with spice. The way they gossip with their friends about each other is adorable and refreshing. Once Darke and Bobby discover their deep attraction towards one another the connection is so intense they are joined together as one, not just physically but emotionally as well.
At times the story was a little too repetitive, it felt like there were a few times where the same thing kept happening just written differently. I also wish that some scenes had more depth to them (more description), But overall not bad for a first novella. I can't wait to see more from this author and watch them grow.
This is RB Hanna’s first published story and I couldn’t be more prouder than I am that RB Hanna took his first step and published a story!!! He certainly has potential to write more stories and I look forward to reading them! Hands waving! 5 stars from me!
A sweet story between the officer and the wedding planner. The first time Darke, the officer saw Bobby was at a wedding. Darke was at the wedding as the “bodyguard” to ensure there would be no wedding crashers. Bobby was the wedding planner who happened to be a bit late. Darke wouldn’t let Bobby through without proper id. That miffed Bobby a bit because it was making him a bit more late. However, after the wedding, Bobby had car trouble and who swooped in to rescue him? Yep, that hot Darke! I’ll encourage you to pick up the book and read to find out what happens! Happy reading!
The story follows Bobby, a local wedding planner who runs into Darke, a police officer. After meeting Bobby, the two men cannot get each other out of their minds. Darke pursues Bobby in hopes that they can hang out and get to know each other better. I've got to say, they have some amazing chemistry, and I loved every minute of this book. I especially loved Darke's character. He is my favorite.
This is a beautiful love story that I can only hope there will be a part two coming out in the future. My only issues with this novella is that there wasn't enough spice for me and it wasn't long enough.
All in all very deserving of a four star read. Loved every minute!
This is a very fast romance between a cop and a wedding planner. Even though their first meeting is tense as hell, they are both instantly attracted to each other. From the small town= gossip and friends hyping the pair up separately the couple get together quickly and are attached at the hip to each other.
If you are looking for a fluffy close romance this book is your 1+ read for sure. Sprinkle in a little bit spice and heated moments between the pair and you have yourself some entertainment for sure.
There is a tiny 3rd act breakup and is resolved very quickly. Because honestly when you know... you know. Forever and Always.
A cute M&M Romance between Bobby & Drake. One a wedding planner and other a Police, both opposite to each other yet had instant attraction. This book is a fast paced Romance which I thoroughly enjoyed. The spice was just about the right amount. Loved it 😊 And the names they call each other by - Little Prince & Beast - So cute. Definitely Recommended to all Spice MM Romance lovers.
This book was quick, spicy, & enjoyable. Although there was some errors & some in consistency in some places. I still enjoyed getting to know Bobby & Darke. Overall I loved their chemistry. They were so cute with their pet names too. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a cute MM love story with spice.
This was a very quick and cute MM romance read. Darke and Bobby were like two halves of a whole that found each other and fell so deeply in love. Spicey encounters and being able to be open with one another. Happy ending. Definitely recommend!
This is not a typical genre of book that I read. I read it because I know the author from TikTok and wanted to read his debut novel. I skipped over all the spicy bits. It was a cute romance. I just want to know what threat was in place for the wedding that Bobby was planning for his job.
2.5 stars. Forever and Ever is R.B. Hanna's debut novel.
It is a short novel, with all that that entails. The characters don't have much time to develop, the basic outlines of the personalities are defined, but I do see inconsistencies. The writing style has space for improvement, so I would like to read a longer novel, to see how the style evolves.
Fun fast paced M/M story. Darke a Police Officer and Bobby a Wedding Planner are so perfect for each other. There is a big size difference between the two men and they both have perfectly descriptive nicknames for each. Although short it is well written with all the feelings involved in new relationships.
A debut novel with some room for improvement. The grammatical errors were a big issue for my enjoyment of the book. I enjoyed the characters however the continual use of pet names was to much. I truly feel with some more writing experience this author will continue to improve. I will read more of his books because he kept me intrigued despite the flaws
The pacing was just all over the place. A lot of it made no sense at all. There were also a lot of inconsistencies! You’re telling me that both dudes live in this tiny town where gossip runs rampant in 5 minutes but they have no idea who each other are?
This is the first book I've read by this author and really hope to see more from them. This is a sweet, cute, steamy, quick read about police officer Darke and wedding planner Bobby.
I loved this quick read by R.B. Hanna! I can't believe this is a first publish work. R.B. brought Drake and Bobby's story to life and I devoured it in one sitting! Don't miss out on this read!
