KinnPorsche (Novel) Vol. 2

Rate this book
ON THE RUNAfter an intimate night with Kinn, Porsche finds himself torn. He never anticipated that becoming the mafia heir's bodyguard would lead to being dosed with an aphrodisiac and relying on his employer for help. Even more confusing is that part of him enjoyed it. Hurt and bewildered, Porsche wants nothing more than to avoid Kinn, but Kinn seems oblivious to his feelings.
To make matters worse, Porsche is now being pursued by hired thugs with orders to capture him alive. What could they possibly want with a bodyguard like him? As their mysterious assailants close in, Porsche must put aside his inner conflict if he and Kinn are to escape.

KinnPorsche Volume 2 is a complicated read. On one hand, it offers rich character development and emotional depth; on the other, it perpetuates dangerous tropes that undermine the very relationships it tries to explore. As the series continues to gain popularity, especially through its TV adaptation, it’s essential that readers engage critically with the material—not just to enjoy the drama, but to question what that drama is really saying.

I don't agree with Seven Seas deciding to use an English narrator. I would have preferred a Thai narrator who speaks Thai and English. It would have a more authentic feel to it story.

I must be a masochist the way I’m forcing myself to continue reading this series. At this point I made peace with the fact that it can’t compare to the tv adaptation.

Tay/Time + Tem dynamics are mostly keeping me interested as this wasn’t largely covered in the show.

And yes the show is so much different, but I can’t help comparing.

This was an amazing continuation of where volume one left off!

Porsche was so lost after what happened between him and Kinn in the hotel room after he was drugged. Slowly, with a little help from being stranded together in the forest, he finally begins to accept that he has feelings for the other man after going through a traumatizing ordeal together.

Very quickly we see the pair of them grow closer and closer as they begin to regularly sleep together after Kinn promises to erase the bad memories they had from that initial first time. It is in this process that we get to see just how quickly and deeply Porsche is falling in love with his boss. And as readers we can see how much Kinn seems to care about him there is still doubt in the younger man's heart that he is loved just as much.

We also learn a bit more about one of Kinn's exs who appears to want him back, and that this man is going to be egged on by Vegas. That creep is going to get what's coming to him with the major clan learns that it's him behind all of the issues our boys are having.

Overall this was a fun read, and I'm super excited for the third volume. There are sure to be twists and turns that I haven't figured out yet!

3.5. I do like that though Porsche consistently tries to backslide, the story does keep moving forward and he does at least ~somewhat acknowledge his feelings even if outwardly he keeps up the same facade. I hate when stories get stuck in: because this guy says no, he always says no even though he never means it and it happens anyway (and it no longer makes sense to) and this edges on that but at least his inner monologue accepts it's a yes.

It's still a little outlandish but at least the universe is known to me now so it's not as jarring as the first time around.

What can I say? I had fun reading this. Despite the fact that the writing is poor and the characters are a bit one-note (can Porsche say a single sentence at a normal volume? Can Kinn stop being an arse for more than 10 seconds? and can anybody tell me how any of these people are still enrolled at university, since they never seem to be there?)

I have to say I think I prefer this version of the whole 'post drugging' incident. In the show it feels like Porsche was depressed for a bit, got lost in the woods with Kinn for like a week, at best, then they were young loves new dream and everything was peaches and daisies (Until Tawan came back and Vegas was Vegas).
In this, Porsche really struggles with what happened to him and his conflict over how he feels about Kinn. He struggles with his identity. He struggles with shame and even suicidal ideation and depression. Even by the end of his volume, while he's more comfortable with how he feels about Kinn, he's still not completely comfortable with people knowing about it, likely out of shame, and is worried about his friends rejecting him for liking and being with a man.
There's also a fair bit of doubt and insecurity that comes up later on with Porsche hearing about March, one of Kinn's former lovers, and finding out about Tawan, Kinn's first boyfriend and love. Neither of them have really had a conversation to properly establish what their relationship is and even Porsche debates about it in his narration. Neither of them are especially honest with their feelings either, which probably further confuses Porsche's feelings.

I just feel like it dealt with the whole aftermath much better and devoted more time to it. I understand. The show had to adapt 5 books into 12 episodes.

A lot of sex in this volume. Honestly, way too much. I'd be fine with never reading about rimming again.

Also, I can't imagine getting lost in the woods. Maybe it's because I was raised on a farm & spent any free time I had exploring the woods & climbing trees, that getting lost in them is such a weird concept to me.

The special chapter of Kinn & Porsche going on a date was sweet.

KinnPorsche Volume 2 shifts gears from the high-stakes action of the first volume to deliver a more introspective, emotionally driven narrative. This installment takes a hard look at the psychological aftermath of the traumatic events that closed Volume 1—particularly the non-consensual encounter between Kinn and Porsche. Rather than glossing over the fallout, the novel slows down to explore its emotional toll, peeling back the layers of Kinn’s world and laying the groundwork for his complex, evolving relationship with Porsche.

One of the highlights of this volume is the character development of Porchay. Compared to his portrayal in the television adaptation—where he's often reduced to a naive and overly innocent younger brother—the novel gives him real depth and agency. Here, Porchay steps into the dangerous mafia world not as a wide-eyed bystander but as someone willing to fight for his brother. His fierce loyalty, emotional maturity, and willingness to confront real danger make him one of the most compelling characters in the book. This version of Porchay isn’t just endearing; he’s admirable.

However, Volume 2 also forces readers to confront one of the most problematic tropes prevalent in MM, BL, and Danmei fiction: the romanticization of non-consensual sex. Kinn’s repeated coercion of Porsche is disturbing, and the narrative often fails to treat it with the gravity it deserves. There’s a lack of reckoning or meaningful critique within the story itself, which can leave readers with the sense that this behavior is normalized—or worse, justified. This raises uncomfortable questions about the genre’s treatment of power dynamics and consent, especially given its largely female readership. The fetishization of queer male relationships through violent or abusive encounters is not just harmful—it reflects a broader issue within how these stories are written and consumed.

This is the Thailand mafia love story volume 2. This thing is all over the place. We have hospital, kidnappings, survival, rainforests, college, restaurants and more. This thing doesn't really stop.

Both of the characters are very hard, tough, macho guys. Porsche is getting on my nerves. He yells about everything and he's always angry, its exhausting and we are mostly in his head. His character arc finally shifts and by the end of the book I was getting where I almost liked Porsche. He's was really rubbing my nerve raw. I sort of like Kinn and not. He grows on me in this book too. I think I kind of like his character by the end of this book as well.

This is a book about chaos and living in that chaos. It's sort of exhausting.

This book is about Porsche's journey of self-acceptance. He finally realizes that he is falling in love. The guy is thick. He goes through a lot. How the author shows us his journey is very interesting. I enjoy it. Still, this is a mafia story and everything is difficult and hard. There is no gentleness here.

There are some hilarious conversations in this one. His friends have figured out there is something going on with Porsche and he's serious about someone. They finally are able to get it out of him.

We also know that Kinn has a playboy past. We have no clue how really into Porsche Kinn is. It's a big question we are left with. Kinn loves them and leaves them. Who knows what will happen.

We are left on a cliffhanger seeing that there is a contingent trying to split the guys up. I'm sure more chaos is in their future.

Spoilers:

I was shocked to see that Big is working with Vegas to break Kinn and Porsche up. Apparently, Big is into Kinn as well. We also meet an old boyfriend and Big wants them to get back together. Vegas wants Porsche and the ex wants Kinn back. We know Kinn is a playboy and no one knows how serious he is. What is going to happen. More chaos.

Going in, you should be aware that the word clean is used multiple times in reference to STD and STI status. There's also a crap ton of internalized homophobic thoughts. Porsche is struggling to get to grips with his sexuality.

Why 5 stars? I am hooked on their antagonistic relationship and the sweet moments in between. Plus, the sex scenes were well done with Kinn working hard to help Porsche enjoy it after their rough first experience.

They spend days out in the wilderness, just the two of them, lost, hunted, and injured. The way Kinn took charge and looked after his man was just perfect... until he got them lost! After, not being able to sleep without each other was adorable. For all their arguing, they do care about each other a lot.

I still have theories about who was behind the kidnapping and now there is another layer to things. The one I thought betrayed them, didn't, so that was a surprise, unless he's still hidden.

Despite the narrator not being Thai, I did enough the narration and am looking forward to book 3.

I'm honestly not quite sure how to feel about this book. On one hand, there was some nice character development, but that character development never really affected anything, and could be temporarily erased if the scene would be more dramatic or steamy without it. Additionally, there wasn't a lot of plot to hold my interest (though I did like the lost-in-the-forest section). Too much of the story was focused on Kinn and Porsche's relationship, and while yes, the series is named after them, I'm not super invested in them, and I found the first book to be more balanced and entertaining. Many of the fun elements there were absent here.

I'm unsure if I'm going to continue the series, since I don't know how prominent the aspects I like will be in the second half. I have heard that the TV show is pretty good, so maybe I'll watch that instead. I'm going to put the next volume on my TBR for now, but we'll see if I actually read it.

Vol 2 was definitely better than vol 1, but throughout reading the book, my thoughts were that this story is being dragged out into 4 parts.
This volume was basically Kinn and Porsche having sex, going out eating, having arguments, getting lost in the woods, being targeted by someone, and Kinn getting Porsche jealous. However, don't get me wrong, it was an entertaining read, I laugh at the banter. I love Porsche's foul mouth and sarcasm. But we could've gotten more.

I liked it more than the previous novel but there was still rape in this book. I did enjoy the further development of Kinn and Porsche in their situationship. I’m honestly not looking forward to all the Tawan drama in the next novel in the series.

Once again I only love these characters because of the beauty that was Miles and Apo

Kinn is kind of terrible; he's very pushy and does not respect Porsche's boundaries. Let that man work through his emotions! Plus, the relationship is really flip-flop, and that is sort of annoying. However, I am curious about the other couples, so I will continue. 2.85/5 rounded up to three for Goodreads
