Leia's new life is peaceful and happy, but she fears turmoil may be on the horizon when the king announces that he's revoking special privileges enjoyed by the most powerful dukes in the kingdom. An attempted murder soon proves Leia right, plunging her and her friends headfirst into an investigation. What's more, Eric's younger brother, Prince Dale, seems to be involved...
While the trajectory of Prince Eric and Leia's relationship isn't a surprise, Prince Dale may be the most surprising character here. For all that he genuinely seems to be kind and longs to be closer to his brother, he may play his part a little too well creating the gap between them that allows him to get closer to his brother's enemies. Where the last volume ended on a happy note, but still had a lot of pain between both sets of siblings, this volume has a happier tone all around, despite the constant danger and intrigue they're all caught up in. Finding so many secrets out in the open now seems to be a very good thing all around.

Much like the first book I think this author struggles to write romance. Prince Eric and Leia do have chemistry however it is so subtle their romantic journey doesnt have the natural flow it should have. As well the mystery in this story really could have been solved within 2 pages if Prince Dale spoke of his intentions and actions to the CROWN PRINCE. The lack of respect for him is utterly astounding.
Overall good read and interested in the 3rd book's release.
To note: in my copy there was a miss print about who's perspective we were in, it said Eric but was actually Jill.
