De-aging is a fairly common Harry Potter fan fiction theme, but it happens to be a favourite of mine (as long as it's done right). This story has to be one, or the best, of the lot. It was a little dark, but, while The Traumatizing Event didn't "fade to black," it was glossed over slightly. That is to say, there weren't endless pages upon pages expounding on every awful detail of pain and general horribleness. I liked that the author didn't linger; the emotional impact was there, but I didn't feel like I needed a break midway through to prevent myself from falling into a depression.

I really enjoyed the contrast between young Harry and young Draco. I've read a lot of works where all kids are written as nearly identical, lisping carbon copies with a minor division between male and female. The boys definitely had distinct personalities.

While the writing wasn't the best (sentence structure, repeated use of titles like "the blonde," "the brunette," "the slytherin," et cetera, word repetition in close proximity) and the grammar left much to be desired (incorrect dialogue tagging, misuse of to, too, and two, and various other homophones, spelling), the author can undeniably tell a story. And she didn't make it easy on anyone. There were always consequences when shit hit the fan. Severus, Harry, Draco...no one got off scott free in the end. Even though it makes me a bit sad after everything they went through, I know that had everything worked out perfectly, the story wouldn't have made half the impression it did.

Near the end there were two scenes that truly stood out for me from all the rest.
