Sometimes life takes a detour...

Millie Jane Brooks’ dream of stardom falls apart when she can’t catch a break in Nashville. With her tail between her legs, she sulks back home to spend a few days at her best friend’s vacant house before facing the truth—she might not be cut out for a singing career. But Millie Jane isn’t the only one seeking solitude and when her high school enemy crashes her perfectly laid plans of escape, she's faced with more than just her current failures.

Dex Hart is looking forward to a quiet recovery at his step-sister’s house after a season-ending injury halts his hockey career. With questions about his future looming over him, he’s hoping to find clarity over the holidays. But when he gets snowed in with Millie, the girl who got away, old feelings rise to the surface, stealing any chance of rest.

Millie Jane's heart is guarded after Dex’s betrayal years ago, but Dex has missed her sassy remarks and sparkling eyes too much to let the past ruin this second chance at love. Dex is determined to help her see that God might have another plan for her life... and his.

Can Dex break the walls around her heart in time for Christmas? Or will she shut him out and run away like she did all those years ago?

I've been wanting to get a print copy of this book since I read it on ebook. When I saw this special edition, I couldn't resist, especially since it has added content for some of the chapters and a new bonus epilogue. I already loved the story and love it even more now with all of the extras and the beautiful, cozy cover.

More things I love about the book:
1) I love second chance romances and this one is particularly sweet and also combines the enemies to more and forced proximity tropes. So fun!

2) I love the way Dex still loves Millie. He made some mistakes in the past and really regrets what pulled them apart. I love that he is determined to work things out between them.

3) This story has a solid faith thread that is integral to Millie's journey as she has many things to work through and is currently feeling worn down by life and like a failure.

This is such a fun, sweet story with plenty of witty and swoony moments. It's one of those stories that makes me happy to read.

the hart of christmas is a charming christian romance that captures the warmth and hope of the christmas season. i really enjoyed the cosy small-town setting and the focus on faith, family, and second chances. the romance was cute and wholesome, and the story had an uplifting message that fit the holiday theme perfectly. a comforting, feel-good read and a lovely choice for fans of clean, faith-based christmas romances.

I am absolutely in love with this story, and I was beyond thrilled when I found out the author was releasing a special edition! Reading it again was such a delightful experience, especially with the addition of the bonus scenes. They really added a new layer to the story and made the whole reading experience even more enjoyable. I’m so grateful I received the physical book as a Christmas gift because it’s quickly become a new tradition for me. I can already tell that this will be a book I revisit every year, and having the special edition makes it feel even more special. It’s one of those stories that only gets better with time, and I can’t wait to dive back in next year!🙌🏻🎄

Millie makes me want to open up and bare my heart and soul.

“Bluff called, Little Lamb.”

Her gaze trails over my chest again and I try to stand a little taller, though it’s difficult while leaning on the crutches. Then her eyes drop down to my left wrist, before tracking a path to where my tattoo disappears underneath my shirt sleeve. My skin burns everywhere her eyes touch and my heart is beating so hard, I’m having difficulty breathing. She’s making it awfully hard for me not to grab her and kiss her right now.

Stepping even closer, her says in a low deep voice that I feel all the way to my toes, “You want to know what I think, Little Lamb?”
“I’m sure you’re going to tell me either way.”
He huffs out a laugh. “I think you like me more than you want to admit, to me or yourself.”
“That’s just your ego talking, Hart.”

“How many of my games have you seen?” He challenges.
And I bite my lip adverting my gaze. “Five? Twenty? Fifty?”
He studies my face with each number he spouts out. “Two hundred?” Three hundred?”
“I’ve seen them all, okay?” I blurt out. “Happy now?”
His grin is stretched so wide, it’s almost blinding.
“Extremely,” He replies and as he walks away, I swear I can hear him mumble under his breath. “I can work with that.”

His fingers are stroking up and down my arm and goosebumps pop up everywhere he touches.
I should move. But I don’t.
Wracking my brain for something to say before I do something completely crazy like kiss him, I ask, “How did you break your leg?” Now that I’ve asked, I really am curious. “Was it during practice?”
Dec groans and throws his head back, giving me the perfect angle to admire his strong jawline and neck. I want to press a kiss to where his pulse is beating. I shake the insane thought away.
There will be no kissing.
None. Nada. Zilch.
All the never happening words.

He winks at me and I might as well be a pile of butter on tops of a stack of hot pancakes. I’ve been so strong this entire week, but the man gets a little booboo and now I’m literally melting at everything he does.

Every interaction we had in high school comes rushing back, along with the ones from this week, and I realize that I’m more than simply attracted to her—though there’s now doubt there’s plenty of chemistry between us.
But it’s so much more than Chemistry or attraction.
In fact, I think I’ve fallen in love with Millie Jane Brooks.

🏒🎄🎤My Thoughts🎤🎄🏒
This book was such a cute Christmas read! I love how they got snowed in together and the forced proximity because of that. I also loved how he kept calling her little lamb I love when they give each other nicknames!

I really liked the faith elements in the book! Millie feeling like she has failed her Gram because she didn’t make it big as a country singer like her and opening up to Dex about that and he tells her to really talk to God and ask him if that is the direction he wants you to go. Then Dex he was constantly praying to God asking him to help Millie open back up to him and give him a second chance throughout the whole book.

The writing style was really easy and quick paced! I felt like I flew through this book. I would recommend it for a cute sweet short Christmas second chance romance!

This was the only Christmas book I could stand reading (so far) this year. For the past two years, I’ve eaten up Christmas books eagerly in December and I anticipated doing the same this year. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any that I really liked.

I decided to give this a try and it was so sweet. I really enjoyed Millie and Dex’s story. I loved the faith aspect! Writing hymns? How awesome 🥹😍

I also love the backstory flashbacks. It added intrigue that kept me curious. I’d have liked a bit more Christmasing hehe. But the touches of it were nice.

I did think there was a too-fast switch from hate to love for Millie, but I felt like Dex’s was a bit more realistic and believable.

All together, this was a sweet, fast read!

It was a cute Christmas book.. second chance romance.. I feel like this one was one that if the FMC would’ve given the MMC a chance to explain nothing of what happened would’ve happened but they were kids so I guess.. it was ok it wasn’t the greatest thing I’ve read but it was nice… I didn’t read the bonus companion chapters because I honestly feel like those should’ve been just included in those chapters instead of the end and I didn’t want to go back and relive those chapters just to read the bonus.. but the bonus epilogue was cute and I did read that.

Other than that 3 ⭐️ because it wasn’t amazing stuff it was a nice story that’s all.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! I keptbseeing this book recommended and I kept putting it off. I am SO GLAD I finally read it. Latisha Sexton wrote such a lovely Christmas story. I cant wait to read more by her. The book is written from Willie's point of view and Dexs. I think she did exceptionally well writing from a males point of view. not always an easy task! The story touches on Christmas, misunderstandings, forgiveness and love.

Not my favorite. A cute, Christmas romance, second-chance, forced proximity tropes. The FMC held onto things for too long and made things too big of a deal that made her bitter, and the MMC was too pushy/maybe hardcore flirty for me?

Highly recommend!! Some Christian novels are cheesy, this is not one of them! I cried and laughed and experienced secondhand blushing a few times 🤭

No me gustó mucho, es una historia tierna, pero creo que no terminé de conocer a los personajes, era muy superficial y algo de insta love, sin suficiente Navidad.
