Marie Hall is a USA Today Bestselling author and has always held a dangerous fascination for creatures that go bump in the night. And mermaids. And of course fairies. Trolls. Unicorns. Shapeshifters. Vampires. Scottish brogues. Kilts. Beefy arms. Ummm... Bad boys! Especially the sexy ones.

Then the day came she realized apart from the sexy bad boy she married, there'd be no vampires/shapeshifters/mermaids/fairies/or even stinky trolls in her future unless she wrote about them. More often than not she can be found roaming the wild, lush tropical forest she calls her backyard (a.k.a. Hawaii) and day dreaming constantly about her latest project.

Her Mad Hatter is the first book of her Kingdom Series.

She loves to hear from her readers and can be reached at mariehallwrites@gmail.com!

This book was a miss for me. I picked it up because the cover pulled me ... maybe I should give that more than 3 Stars? I would, but it really isn't any different than most of the other NA out there -- I had a weak moment.

I didn't read the second in this series because it had no appeal. I liked the first book well enough, but have read other books, other series by this author and know they are very hit and miss for me. This was a miss. Why?

1 -- The story seemed endless.

2 -- The characters were okay. I liked Tor, but ... hmmm ... what's her name? Yeah -- she didn't do anything for me.

3 -- The loser boyfriend was a huge miss for me. An example of just how awful the h was in this one. She doesn't have the sense to .. you know what I mean. I believe in giving people a second chance and even a third chance, but this Angel was a LOSER!!

4 -- There really wasn't a story. Just the over and over lament of the h for her non-existent L O N G relationship with Angel.

5 -- Tor lost points for putting up with her crap.

So, this one just wasted my time. I hope you have better luck than I did .. but frankly don't know how you will. Just not engaging or interesting. At. All!

Happy Reading [maybe]

BTW: I returned this one for a refund. Yep!

My Thoughts:

When I first began the Moment series, I recognized that there was something very special about Ms. Hall's writing. She had a way of hooking me in to the story, and completely gaining my undivided attention. As I have continued this series, I have realized that Ms. Hall is very talented, because she continues to touch my heart with her stories, makes me desperate for more, and I never want them to end.

In, This Time, we get the third book in the Moments series. This is Jamie (Zoe's best friend), and Tor's story. Wow, what can I say, but that this story was fantastic! I devoured it, and didn't even want to take bathroom breaks, I was so into the story. Jamie has been in love with Angel, her high school sweetheart for many years. He was a great guy, and she had her future all planned out with marriage, the white picket fence, and children. Unfortunately, after Angel is in a car accident, he sustains some brain damage, and enters in to a deep and dark depression. Jamie stands by his side, and becomes extremely close to his mother, father, and sister. The become a surrogate family, because her parents take off for the peace corps when she is eighteen years old, keep in limited touch, and only visit her once every two years. Angel becomes addicted to drugs, and alcohol. He sleeps around with women, and even though Jamie and him break up on and off, she is still always there for him and his family, to her detriment.

Tor is always in the background. He works in the same tattoo parlor as Jamie's best friend, Zoe, and is a drummer his band, Fok. He see's her from a distance, and gets to know her over the years. Tor is always waiting for his chance, the day when Jamie will finally let go of Angel for good, and he can step in and get to know her. His opportunity comes when Angel overdoses on drugs for the second time. He was found with another woman in his car. Jamie is tired of the back and forth with Angel. His family calls her to get to the hospital. Instead, Tor finally makes a move on her, and she accepts his offer for one night of passion, no strings attached. She needs an escape from her life, and can't resist the sexy Norwegian, that looks like a Viking God. Tor wants more than one night of sex with Jamie; but decides to take it slow, not pressure her, and make her fall in love with him. They have one wild and unforgettable night that will change their lives forever.

I can't possible explain how much I loved Tor. He melted my heart and turned it in to a puddle of goo. He had these sweet little Norwegian nicknames for Jamie, that had me swooning. He had the full package and was ever girls dream guy, including mine. He had the looks, the body, and the personality! Tor was all about Jamie. He only had eyes for her, and would do anything for her. She was "his woman," and his top priority. He cherished her, loved her, took care of her, and completely gave her his heart. Ladies, Tor will make you rethink your love of bad boys! He was a rare gem. You will fall in love with him! It is impossible not too.

I understood Jamie's struggle with Angel, and his family. She was a sweet person, and felt guilt, responsibility, and a large burden concerning him. She didn't want to let his family down and kept hoping that he would return to being the person he was before the accident. However, with Tor entering her life, she had no choice, but to fall in love. They developed a strong and loyal friendship, shared their painful pasts with one another, and were there for each other.

We also get Zoe and Alex in this story! I love them so much, and was excited to see how they were doing, and catch up with them three years later. However, we didn't get any Lili, Ryan, and Javi in this story. The plot of the story was extremely exciting. Besides the romance, sexual tension, and passionate love affair between Jamie and Tor, we get a wild card in Angel. Let's just say his character kept things very interesting. There were some plot-twists and surprises in the story, as well as some predictable, but beautiful moments!

My Rating:

Read, This Time, by Marie Hall! It was phenomenal, and I could not put it down! Even though it is part of the Moments series, each book is about different characters, and can be read as a stand alone. You will love the whole series! However, This Moment, is my favorite story, in the whole series! I highly, highly, recommend it for romance lovers. This Time, by Marie Hall, was such a beautiful and breathtaking read. If you are looking for a tantalizing, and addictive story with substance, look no further! If you read This Time, I would love you to message me your thoughts! I can't possible tell you how amazing this book was, you need to experience this story for yourself. I give, This Time, by Marie Hall, 5 Must-Read, Intoxicating, Captivating, Rapid Heart-Beating, Beloved Stars!!!

My Favorite Quote:

""We were like two lost and broken souls traveling on separate paths, and had the terrible things not happened to us as they had, we'd still be moving in opposite directions. But by some miracle our paths had intersected and we'd stopped just long enough to look up. And I was so grateful for that." (eARC, Loc. 2222)

I received an ARC from Marie Hall and "Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock" for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire "Moments" series. Each book has returning characters and stories, therefore the entire series must be read in order or suffer confusion.

A super sexy Viking rock God, Tor works at the tattoo parlor with Zoe. When he's not working he's playing gigs with his band Fok.

Jamie is Zoe's best friend and dating Angel on and off again since sophomore year in High School.

One night on another off again moment Tor sees Jamie alone at one of his concerts. Figuring Angel stood her up yet again Tor decided it was time to let Jamie she is worth a great deal more than the way she lets Angel treat her. Tor has been trying to get Jamie to notice him for years. Is this finally their chance at love? The characters are well written and developed. The story kept me engaged and ready for more.

This is a very sweet story that definitely pulls on the heart strings. This book is considered New Adult which is the same as young adult or teen except it allows mild sex and cursing. The sex is mild and not very frequent, the cursing is mild to moderate. I look forward to any new additions to this series!

I give this story 5 fangs!

OMG....this was amazing. There are no words.....at least for now. Therefore fulI loved the "Moments" series from the first words I read in "A Moment" and after reading "Right Now", I couldn't wait to read more about Tor as I fell in love with his character.
"This Time" solidified his place as one of the greatest book boyfriends ever.

Tor, who years ago moved from Norway to the US, definitely will remind you of a Viking or a Norse God. Strong and protective, he is also sweet and tender. He is a gentle giant that isn't scared of his emotions and of showing them. He isn't afraid of loving although due to his past he would have every reason to. The confidence to be who he is, to not compromise, to allow himself to feel and be true to those emotions, makes him not only super out-of-this world swoon-worthy but also sexy as hell. He knows his priorities and is his own person - always true to himself.
There is nothing, and I mean nothing about him to dislike. It doesn't mean he might not have any flaws, but they are damn hard to notice or care about. He might be the most perfect book boyfriend ever written - perfect without being irritating or unrealistic. I really don't think my words can do him justice.
The way he loves Jamie - wholeheartedly and unconditionally without disregarding his own feeling, the way he treats her with devotion and reverence and utmost respect, it melted my heart, took my breath away and made me smile so big I feared my face will split in two. Despite his past he isn't bitter or cold, but instead emotionally available and open. He is all male and yet sensitive. He does the sweetest things without being corny and his actions, feelings and thoughts made me melt like ice-cream on a hot summer's day.
Really, I could go on gushing about him for hours and yet, I wouldn't manage to paint a picture that is true to his character.

Jamie, on the other hand, I was prepared to dislike. She seemed all hung up on her on-and-off waste of a space boyfriend and my first instinct was to slap her for using Tor. Damn, was I proven wrong. Unlike my assumptions, she isn't one to play with anyone. She is just an extremely loyal girl, who out of guilt and a sense of obligation sacrifices her life and happiness for a love long gone wrong. She has a hard time letting go of what has been her dream for a fairytale future, disregarding the fact that the frog is no prince and that the fairytale has turned into a nightmare. It is not that she is ignorant to reality. But sometimes it is hard to accept the truth, despite seeing it clearly. And that is the situation Jamie is in. Torn between her longing for happiness and the guilt that keeps her stuck in a toxic and unhealthy situation, it takes Tor thundering into her life and after one night of passion flipping it upside down, for her to consider that life has to offer more than constant misery and agony.
And with a complete new future that fate forced upon her, step by step she finds the motivation to let go of the guilt and obligation that keeps her captive and to allow Tor to win her heart. With every touch, with every word he proves to her, that he is there for her no matter what and shows her that true love is beautiful, sweet and gives instead of just taking and destroying everything in its path. She realizes it is important to let go of the past in order to have a shot at a future.
And for Tor she is willing to do just that. She learns to let him into her life and into her heart.

Despite their pasts, they both get a second chance at love and it is beautiful, yet bittersweet at the same time. The way they are with each other touched my heart with its sweetness and brought tears to my eyes. The love they share made me weep and sob at times - even more so when they share their feelings with us readers at the end of the book. They might be scarred, but not broken by their pasts.

But sometimes the past worms its way back in and Jamie's past threatens to destroy the second chance her and Tor got, threatening their happiness and their future. True love is worth fighting for though and fight they did.

Do yourself the favor and don't miss out on this beautiful, bittersweet love story and let the gentle Viking win your heart.

5+ emotional, true-love-that-is-worth-fighting-for stars.

description

Before actually embarking on this read, I had admittedly read some goodreads to gain more a feel for what to expect since I *ducks sheepishly* hadn't read books one and two. I do agree with this user, Brandon Rickman, that the title should have been titled "Time to Let Go" because it suited both characters' clauses perfectly.

Jamie is in an unhealthy relationship with on and off again boyfriend, Angel. She believes that she can save him from his destructive ways and believes that it is partially her fault for him spiraling into the turmoil that he is in.

As for Tor, our Norwegian sexy drummer, who's name is one letter off from our hammer-wielding Norse god: it has always been Jamie... ever since he left home and moved to the U.S.

Now when an opportunity presents itself for him to finally claim what is his, he is not going to let go. He is going to cherish this time with her, this moment in time.

But, with his own demons from home and Jamie's inherent guilt concerning Angel, what will become of their blooming love? Will external forces win the way? Or will this time, they'll get it right?

My thoughts: So basically, this is kind of your melodramatic, "angsty" romance. You have two people who obviously feel something deep for one another but are plagued from their pasts threatening to take over fold over their futures.

Should they cut their ties? Should they allow those on the outside to dismantle what they have?

I guess, what it all comes down to is choice and letting go of unhealthy, selfish habits (and people) and embracing your piece of happiness/Heaven.

So, a great, decent over all read!!

"We were like two lost and broken souls traveling on different paths, and had the terrible things not happened to us as they had, we'd still be moving in opposite directions. But by some miracle our paths had intersected and we'd stopped just long enough to look up. And I was so grateful for that."

Book #3 of the Moments series

Tor & Jamie's Story.......

Tor has loved Jamie for years, he has never touched her, kissed her, or made love to her but he has loved her.

Jamie has been in a toxic relationship with Angel for 9 years. They were high school sweethearts but 2 months after graduation and a horrible car accident Angel is a different person. He turned into a cheating, drug addicted, heartless man. Jaime and Angel have not been intimate in over a year and they are not in a relationship but Jamie keeps trying to fix Angel hoping that one day the boy she fell in love with will resurface. Jamie knows it is a lost cause when she is told for the 3rd time that Angel is in the ER. He was in a car accident and was found with another girl.

Jamie cannot do this anymore and runs into Tor at the club she was supposed to meet Angel at. Tor will not let her go home alone, she needs a friend and he needs to tell her how he feels. After a night of passion together Jaime feels guilty with Angel being in a coma but she still knows the right decision is to leave Angel.

Tor figures that Jaime will call him if she needs him and tells her he would like to be friends if nothing else. Jamie accepts that but knows that she might want more with Tor.

As a couple Jamie and Tor struggle with Angel's family, Angel's problems, Jamie's parents and oh yeah one other problem they need to figure out but no spoiler on this one.

I think this one was my favorite of the series. I am getting a little tired of all the secrets, abuse, and dark pasts. Everyone has kind of jumped on the Fifty Shades wagon. Even though I did LOVE that series everything I read does not have to be a twisted telling of that story. I like that this was refreshing. I love Tor and his dedication to Jaime. I love him for his honesty, kindness and love that he has for everyone. Tor is a really awesome and refreshing character.

Happy Reading!

This is the last book in the Moments Series and I have to say that it wasn't as good as the first two. Tor Boler the Norwegian God saved a lot in this book for me.

Jamie Sullivan thinks that she can save the world well in this case her on/off boyfriend Angel who has a drug problem and has once again OD. After 8 years she has had enough but feels that she isn't entitled to the life that she wants and to be happy. Jamie was sometimes just a frigging idiot. I get being loyal to a default but Angel is being treated like glass. Tough Love is the best way to go about this and stop being the enabler in the relationship. Jamie doesn't love Angel anymore but she loves his family as if it was her own.

Tor Boler moved from Norway to America to escape his demons and Ms. Hall has given us a hero who is hot, a teddy bear but still has enough alpha maleness to make this book great. He is rare and everything a woman could want.

Tor helps Jamie through this difficult and something unexpected comes along. Angel tries to get clean but he can't seem to break his old habits of drugs and hookers. All in all a enjoyable book to the end of a fabtastic series. At least I'm up to date and have finished one series at least.

I ‘m biased! I do love me some Viking. As well as a Nordic accent. But, this truly was a great read.

Marie not only gives us the normal day to day insecurities that come along with new relationships. We are faced with addiction, along with the “false hope” that loved ones experience.
Tor is an absolute gem. Understanding and perceptive to Jamie’s relationship not only with Angel but his family. The one thing I absolutely love about this series is the constant push to communicate. Everyone in every form of life has their own quirks and flaws. I like that these books promote:
That we should always be ourselves.
To always be honest with the ones you love and hold most dear to your heart.
Life is short, live in the now. Don’t spend it fretting on what’s already happen.
Communicate, Communicate, Communicate!
There’s many of life’s lessons in this book. Yes, of course you get it all wrapped in a neat little package known as a love story. But, that just makes it more interesting.

WONDERFUL END TO THIS SERIES

This was by a landslide the best in this trilogy. While we were introduced to Angel and Jaime in the previous books, this was where we learned the bitter truth. Addiction. Insidious disease.

Tor has known and loved Jaime for many years so it was wonderful that he got his hea with her. While the ending is a happy one the events preceding it were tense to say the least! This author really makes you think and appreciate the reality of many kinds of human struggles.

I highly recommend this to you.

Jaime is stuck in a loop with her ex-boyfriend. Angle is self-destructive and has OD’d again. She can’t bring herself to go to the hospital so she ends up staying the night with Tor. That night results in her pregnancy. Tor is more than willing to step up and be there for both Jamie and their baby something Jamie never imagined. The hardest part is telling Angle and breaking ties for good. For once, someone is putting Jaime first in their lives and their relationship. She’s not feeling guilty all the time and she’s cared for and loved.
Tor has always loved Jaime but her complex relationship with Angle has stopped him from making any moves towards her. Now, they are thrust together and surprisingly it’s a good relationship. Jaime trust Tor and can depend on him for anything and everything. However, the one thing that’s worrisome is Angle. He’s stalking Jaime and finally he snaps and kidnaps her. When he threatens her with a gun Tor takes him down and gets injured in the process. Thankfully, Jamie and her baby are doing okay and Tor is alive. They start their lives as a family without having to worry about Angle anymore now that he’s getting the help he needs.

BLURB

A phone call that changed our lives...

I've lived my life in a daze, trying to save someone hell bent on destruction. But when my phone rings and I'm told that Angel, my on again off again boyfriend has OD'd for the second time in two years, I'm so numb. So tired. So when Tor Boler, the sexy Norwegian and drummer of Fok asks me to stay with him, I stay. We were friends and I needed to be held. To be loved. It was just supposed to be one night of reckless passion. One night where I could forget how screwed up my life had become.

...a night of passion with far reaching consequences

I've wanted Jamie Sullivan since the day she walked through my tattoo shop eight years ago. There's a soulfulness to her blue eyes that reminds me of the arctic fjords of home. She calls to me. There's only one problem standing in our way- Angel Romero. I want her, and she wants me too, she just doesn't realize it yet.

This time... we'll get it right.

~~~~~~~~~~~
REVIEW: THIS TIME is the third instalment in Marie Hall’s contemporary, adult Moments romance series. This is tattoo artist Tor Boler and twenty three year old book editor Jamie Sullivan’s story. Although this is the third in the series This Moment can be read as a stand alone. Some of the previous storyline characters play a small role in the story but their history does not affect the premise. Tor and Jamie were first introduced in book two-RIGHT NOW-as Lili’s coworker and her best friend.
Told from alternating first person POV (Jamie and Tor) the focus of the story is Jamie Sullivan. Angel is the boy she once loved but years of addiction, whoring and abuse have finally taken their toll on both Jamie and Angel. When Jamie is forced to walk away one final time she finds herself in the arms of Tor Boler-a Viking of a man- who calls to her heart and her soul. Following a night of sexual passion Jamie will walk away knowing that she is too broken for any man to put back together.
THIS TIME follows Jamie and Tor as they traverse a path where a friends to lovers relationship ends with a happily ever after but not before Jamie’s not so distant path threatens the couple on more than one occasion. Life as they know it is about to change for Tor and Jamie, and Angel is determined to make sure Jamie is his forever.
The relationship between Jamie and Tor is sensual, erotic, loving and committed. Tor has been in love with Jamie for years but believed her heart belonged to someone else. Little did he know that Jamie had been struggling to break herself free of the toxic hold that Angel and his family had on her. Hoping that one day Angel would once again become the boy she had loved, Jamie held on until the bitter end.
The secondary characters are colorful, familiar and add an edge to the story. Guilt plays a major role in the storyline-a role many people will find all too familiar. There are times when one must walk away from the people and places that slowly eat away at your heart and your mind and, in this, Jamie should have walked away years before. Tor is Jamie’s other half and it will take a shocking surprise to open Jamie’ s eye to the possibility of a future with her Norwegian Viking.
MARIE HALL writes a captivating and intense storyline about two people who have loved and lost. There is heartbreak and sorrow; controversy and guilt; love and letting go. THIS TIME is a passionate story where one moment in time can change everything and everyone-a decision, a choice, a path not yet taken-but a chance meeting with you future may all happen-this time!
From the first book in the Moments series to this latest one, Ms. Hall has crafted a series of intensely emotional reads for both us and the characters. The issues being addressed are life-altering and don't pull any punches with the damage left behind. Grab a tissue as loyalty, betrayal, and missed opportunities lead to lost dreams for two kind-hearted people to come together under unexpected circumstances.
Jamie thought she'd be with her high school sweetheart Alex forever, but an accident leads him to a dark place of drugs and faceless women that she's grown tired of forgiving. Though she knows she should break ties completely, it's not easy as guilt and love for his family as if they were her own keeps her bound to him. Being committed to him though has her hiding from life. She's at a standstill with time and a real chance at happiness passing her by. Fate soon intervenes when a one-night stand leads to more with the sexy and too perfect Viking tattooist/musician, Tor. She soon has to choose between a past that's nothing more than a dream or a future full of infinite possibilities in a journey to HEA full of emotional ups and downs. Jamie is a character I don't really remember from the previous book, but she makes a definite impression her. I applaud her loyalty and understand her reasons for staying with Alex at first. But with no hope for change on his part self-preservation should've kicked in to help her make a break long before. He was emotionally manipulating her, and with such a strong-willed friend as Zoe, I'd hoped she would've figured it out sooner and when she didn't Zi was left frustrated by her. I was happy fate intervened to bring her Tor as he's just about perfect in giving her the support and love she's been missing in her life because of Alex's problems and her absent parents. Through an unexpected event she finally discovers she's worth more and deserving of happiness and her slowly evolving friends to lovers relationship with Tor put a smile on my face as he helped her every step of her journey.
Tor has loss in his past too and because of it knows not to squander away time. He's waited forever to get Jamie to notice him and after one night they're connected in an unexpected way that has them learning about one another through a slowly evolving relationship that's sweetly sensual. He understands her loyalty to Alex, and though it hurts him, he never forces her to choose between them. He's devoted to her happiness and the possibilities for a future he sees when he looks in her eyes. To sum it up, Tor is perfect! My newest book boyfriend as he's sexy, charming, caring in a non-Alpha way, with a bit of a Norse accent. Not only that but he gives great foot massages! He's always been there for Jamie, watching for the sidelines early on, to being there when life takes an unexpectedly dramatic turn. I was rooting for him every step of the way to get his richly rewarded HEA, but wish it had been with me instead as he's truly Prince Charming!
Ms. Hall's Moments series is the epitome of what the NA genre should be (particularly the first installment) as she deals with heavy issues in a believable way. She takes her characters and readers on a journey of self-discovery through emotionally draining storytelling. Her characters are compelling, her storylines engaging, and I look forward to where she'll take us next. Fans of the NA genre won't want to miss this book, or the rest of the series, to see a master at work!
I've read all of the books in the Moments series, and I must say, that this book was the most heart-wrenching. This Time follows the story of Jamie and Tor, whom we saw a cameo of from book 2, Right Now. But back in book 2, Jamie had this on again/of again relationship with Angel, a violent drug addict. Tor meets Jamie at one of his concerts, and they end up having a one-night stand, which leads to some serious consequences that carry the rest of the story. These consequences eventually bring Jamie and Tor together, and Jamie's eyes are open to the truth about Angel, and how much of a poison he's been to her all this time. She also realizes just how much she's been taking Tor's kindness for granted and it forces her to rethink her whole life.
What I love about this story (and all of the books in this series) is the realism of the situations the characters are put in. A huge issue in this book was the subject of domestic violence, and how it's hard for a woman to leave their boyfriend whom they think they’re in love with, and not realize how much it's hurting them. I've known people like this in real life, and it's heart-breaking to watch this, which is why I connected so much with Tor and his frustrations of trying to get Jamie to forget about Angel because of the way he mistreated her all the time.
Jamie in book 2, came off as a ditz, but in book 3, we see her in a new light and understand her situation a bit more. She is very caring and trusting of others, sometimes a little too much. So I think the relationship between her and Tor worked well. She also needed a friend like Zoe to keep her focused on the straight path.
I have a weakness for Vikings and all things Norse mythology, and so I clung to Tor immediately. I loved his character. He's very protective of Jamie, and yet, very loving and caring. He's definitely the perfect guy. This Time is told in alternating points of view, and I really enjoyed reading Tor’s POV. He’s so honorable, loyal, and drop-dead sexy, what more could a girl want?
This story has very few steamy scenes, and that’s fine because it worked given the things that happened in this story. But those few scenes are pretty hot, regardless. The story revolved around the growing relationship between Tor and Jamie, and how life unknowingly brings the two of them together whether they are ready or not.
The author did a great job executing this story, and if it’s intended to be the last book of this series, it was closed very well with a sweet HEA and epilogue.
What an amazing entry into the MOMENT series! Just as much emotion, but not quite so much angst as the other two stories. And while I'll probably always adore Alex most (it's the southern accent), Tor really comes in a hair's breath second!
I think Marie dealt with some pretty difficult issues, once again, in a way that helps the reader comprehend them and also feels realistic. One of the things I felt made this story so powerful was that Marie took a character I didn't like at all in Right Now, Angel, and generated sympathy for him. Though I didn't want him to win Jamie back, I also understood his pain and anger.
As for Jamie, This Time gives insight into why she stayed with Angel for so long - admit it, you wondered the same thing when you were reading Right Now. When you hear her story, you'll understand that not every person who stays in an emotionally abusive relationship for years is weak. Sometimes, they're heartbroken and guilt-ridden. But even those filled with sorrow have limits, and Jamie reaches hers with Angel. That's when Tor walks into the situation.
Tor has been infatuated with Jamie since he met her, but he's never done anything about it. See, he has his own cross to bear, and for a long time, he wasn't really ready. Plus, there was that pesky Angel. But when the opening presents itself, he takes it. Oh, boy, does he take it!
What happens after that is a bumpy, but wonderful (and sometimes nail-biting!) journey. Come along for the ride! Even if you haven't read A Moment or Right Now, you can read this story and still enjoy it. Though Alex and Zoe make appearances, this isn't their story and you don't really need to know them to appreciate This Time. But trust me, you'll love it even more if you've read the whole series.
As always, any story filled with characters who make me feel gets two huge thumbs up. But when the execution is well-paced and emotionally satisfying, and the story has me cursing when I must put it down, that, to me, is a 5-star event at minimum. Brava, Marie! Another hit out of the park!
And yes, I read this book before it came out officially. It was that good, even before its final version!
So this the third Moments book now and I can honestly say that I loved them all. I think A Moment was the best for me but Right Now and This Time aren't very far behind. This is Tor's story who's a colleague of Zoe's at the tattoo parlor. Tor has been in love with a girl from afar for years now and finally he gets his moment. But this wouldn't be a Marie Hall story if there weren't major problems they have to overcome.
Jamie is deeply involved with Angel who has ended up in hospital once again because he was driving on cocaine while making out with some random chick. She is so devastated and drained of all her caring-for-Angel-energy that she doesn't immediately rush to the hospital but decides to meet with Zoe and Alex at a bar. There, she meets Tor and their Moment finds a rough start.
Tor was just too good to be true. He is this stunning Norwegian sex god who is huge but so tender and gentle at the same time. He wants to show Jamie that he'll never abandon her, that she's worth to be loved and that he can be more reliable than anyone has ever been in her life before.
I'm just sure that in my mind he looks completely different to the image that Hall wanted to create. Because I could never ever, not even over my dead body, find a man with whiskers sexy. No way. So I just had to make up my own image of him, which was no problem at all. *wink*
I guess the only problem I had was with Jamie. Me and her are not exactly alike. Her selfless acts with Angel were only annoying for me. I don't think I would have ever felt obliged to waste away my life just for him. I mean they were a freaking high school couple and nobody would expect her to still be there for him all the time when he's nothing but destructive and disrespectful. I can't imagine a young girl being so loyal leading almost to self-destructive behavior. That reminds me a little bit of Rock Bottom and even there Danika knew when to stop the relationship, and those two at least had still something going on.
As always, Marie's writing is wonderful and I read through it quickly. Yet, I think I was more invested in the first two stories. All the stuff in the middle wasn't too exciting but it gripped me again in the end. Overall, I liked Tor and Jamie's story a lot and I'm very curious who her next couple is going to be.
I first encountered Tor in the previous book, Right Now (Moments, #2) and of course I was curios about him.
A sexy quiet 'Viking', Tor is a friend of Zoe's who is Jamie's best friend. From the moment he laid eyes on her, Tor wanted Jamie but she was involved with Angel. However, he never lost faith that one day she would wake up and realize that she could do much better. Finally, his chance has come and he is not about to let it pass him by.
Jamie is tired. Although she has put some distance between her and Angel, she still feels like she has to try to make it work or at least be there whenever he needs her. This guilt is compounded when the one time she decides to let herself go, Angel ends up fighting for his life.
I'll be completely honest with you and tell you that the beginning of this story was hard for me to get through because the pace dragged--a lot! I understood where Jamie was coming from but her constant back and forth didn't help matters. Thankfully, Marie Hall came through by bringing Tor and Jamie together in an interesting and entertaining way.
With the use of some humor, honest dialogue and flirty banter Marie Hall firmly established Tor and Jamie's connection. There was their chemistry which was very good but with the added development and growth of their connection, their story came about in a more believable and enjoyable way.
I especially enjoyed getting to know more about Tor and his past. His past shaped him into being the kind of man he was with Jamie. It was a treat to see him being compassionate towards Jamie while still maintaining his determination of not letting her go.
As a fan of the series, I have to say that this one was not as angst-ridden as the others but it did have a clever conflict that even I wasn't expecting. After reading that scene I understood why the author insisted in including all those Angel-related details in there.
All in all, a great addition to the series with an intriguing story of letting go of the past and embracing the future ahead of you.
It should be titled "time to let go". This story has a very interesting storyline. It keeps my interest. This story was amazing. I could not put it down. It held so much emotion. It was powerful.
Jamie is feeling guilty about sleeping with Tor, yet Angel was with a hooker and drugged out of his mind when he got in an accident. Jamie stays committed to Angel because she feels she can save him. What she does not realize is that she still has not changed him, in fact he is getting worse. I think the wake up call Angel needs is for Jamie to show no concern for him and see if this will make him want to be a better person. As long as Jamie makes herself available to Angel and accepts whatever destruction he causes in his life then he has nothing to look forward to. She is making it too easy for him.
I do not like this Jamie character because she is weak minded. Instead of going after what she deserves she focuses on fixing Angel when Angel does not care to fix himself. Maybe if she shows interest in another guy Angel will finally realize she has moved on. I'm finally liking Jamie because she is growing as a person. She is finally thinking about what is best for herself.
Angel has a hold on Jamie's heart even though he is no longer the same guy she knew at eighteen.
I think Angel needs to let her go by confronting her and giving her permission to walk away before he drags her further into his self destruction.
I hate when people keep secrets from other people because they think they are protecting them and they think they now what is best for them. This secret is going to cause a lot of problems when it's finally revealed.
Well some people just can't be saved. They have something special right in front of them and yet they screw it up. Then when they decide they have had enough they finally realize what was in front of them all along. But now it's too late. But that is no longer good enough. They get desperate and make rash decisions and become paranoid. That paranoia leads to danger. Angel is a ticking time bomb. He has been screaming for help since hitting his head but no amount of therapy was going to fix him. Angel needed an intervention and a reality check on life.
Obsession can get ugly and holds too much power.
Fabulous third book in the Moments series. I loved the characters and the story line pulled me in from the very beginning. There are quite a few emotions going on during this book but there’s also some soul searching, self realization, and a little growing up.
Tor and Jamie end up kind of doing things backwards but once they start to get to know each other, its obvious they are perfect for each other. Tor is a sexy tattoo artist that also plays in a band. He’s smart, funny, sweet, considerate, and protective. Jamie was raised to always give to others and I think that’s why she has a hard time letting go of Angel even though she doesn’t love him any more. She’s smart, loves to bake when she’s nervous, is a book editor, and is constantly looking out for others. They both share some similar qualities but also have complimenting qualities that balance them out. I really enjoyed both of their personalities and I think this is the first time I’ve read about a Norwegian character and it was really cool to see some of the words from that language.
The story line was intense and had me biting my nails through most of it. So much happens around Jamie that she really has to learn to lean on Tor. I enjoyed the characters immensely. I highly recommend no only this book but also the whole Moments series. This was a fantastic 5 out of 5 stars!
I received an ARC from Marie Hall and "Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock" for an honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed the entire "Moments" series. Each book has returning characters and stories, therefore the entire series must be read in order or suffer confusion.
A super sexy Viking rock God, Tor works at the tattoo parlor with Zoe. When he's not working he's playing gigs with his band Fok.
Jamie is Zoe's best friend and dating Angel on and off again since sophomore year in High School.
One night on another off again moment Tor sees Jamie alone at one of his concerts. Figuring Angel stood her up yet again Tor decided it was time to let Jamie she is worth a great deal more than the way she lets Angel treat her. Tor has been trying to get Jamie to notice him for years. Is this finally their chance at love? The characters are well written and developed. The story kept me engaged and ready for more.
This is a very sweet story that definitely pulls on the heart strings. This book is considered New Adult which is the same as young adult or teen except it allows mild sex and cursing. The sex is mild and not very frequent, the cursing is mild to moderate. I look forward to any new additions to this series!
I give this story 5 fangs!
EGADS!!!
This was such a touching and endearing read I could not get enough! Hall’s writing is seamless she will captivate and pull you into this amazing world. So many of the characters have been through so much in this series it was a delight to see them truly happy. I highly recommend this series I cannot stress that enough.
My Wish
Okay so super sexy tattoo parlor owner Ryko has made many mistakes including letting Zoe go. I would love nothing more than this larger than life character finding someone just right for him. I would love for Ms Hall to write such a story. Her prose is amazing I can see her writing the perfect story about Ryko.
My Rating
4.5 One Night, Overdose, Coma, Love, Test, Dallas, Bookstore, Drive, Embrace, Good News, Bad News, Long hours, Suburbs, Proposal, Dual Wedding, Gun shot, New Family, Passionate Love filled Stars!!! I cannot recommend this series enough. If you are a fan of super sexy and romantic reads this series is for you!!!
I should start out saying that I hate, absolutely HATE love triangles. While I guess this technically qualifies as one, it didn't really feel like it. Angel plays a huge part in Tor and Jamie's story, but isn't really a major character per se. Tor has been in love with Jamie from afar for over 2 years, but she has this guilt eating her about what happened to Angel years ago and thinks it is her job to fix him. Tor and Jamie finally have one night that brings them together and she finally opens her eyes enough to wake up and realize she deserves happiness too. I wanted to shake her so many times because it seemed like Angel's feelings and well being were the only thing she cared about. And Tor. Tor, Tor, Tor. He has to be one of the sweetest book boyfriends ever. He never once gave up on Jamie and stuck by her through everything. The ending was perfect. I highly recommend this book. I gave it 4 1/2 starts because no one, and I mean no one, will ever top Ryan from book one :)
Disappointed this will be the last in the series. I am starting now!!!!
Ok finished, after I type this I am going to some fishing villages in Norway thank you very much!
CONTAINS ONE spoiler but it happens so early don't fret!
OK I wasted (well this book is so good that I wouldn't say I wasted anything) the day reading this. A few minor editing errors (tap the tattoo instead of tape, pretty sure I would backhand someone who added tap and gauze to my new tattoo) this was a great story. The hero, Tor, was freaking awesome and I like that our heroine wasn't a push over. I also must add that I usually hate "pregnancy makes everyone happy and brings everyone together" crap that is prevalent and not done very well in so many books. Face it, 9 times outta 10 that isn't the case. Marie Hall handles it expertly. READ THIS BOOK!!!!!! Suspense angst and hot what else could you ask for.
Book three of Marie Hall’s Moment Series, This Time tells of a woman who was trapped in an unhealthy relationship and a guy who had been in love with her for quite a while. Well-written and with beautiful characters, this novel is character-driven and the transition between the characters flows smoothly. Hall’s talent for weaving intense emotions into words takes center stage in the character development in this story. I love how Hall isn’t afraid of getting her characters a little dirty and a little hurt to bring about the desired reaction from the readers.
I was given an e-copy of this book by the author for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review—all conclusions are my own responsibility.
