For those eager to understand the Book of Revelation in its original context—as a work of Jewish apocalyptic literature—this short commentary is for you. It’s time to read Revelation not through fear and speculation, but through the lens of faith, history, and hope.
Discover the lost power of the apocalyptic genre—a literary tradition deeply rooted in Second Temple Judaism, yet largely misunderstood by modern Western readers. While contemporary minds tend to seek realism, rational explanations, roadmaps, and linear narratives, ancient Jewish apocalyptic literature communicates timeless truths through symbolic visions, fantastical creatures, numerology, and vivid imagery that depict cosmic battles.
Rather than serving as a handbook outlining a precise future timeline, apocalyptic writings like the Book of Revelation offer profound spiritual insights through cyclical storytelling, metaphorical language, and symbolic portrayals.
This book invites readers to rediscover Revelation through the authentic Jewish roots of the apocalyptic tradition, providing a richer and more meaningful way to understand Revelation—as its original audience would have understood it!

Dr. Bar co-founded ONE FOR ISRAEL Ministry, a Messianic Reformed Baptist non-profit and Bible college. He later left the organization in 2022 and deconstructed his Baptistic-Calvinistic beliefs, becoming an independent author of several books, including a few best-sellers (available on Amazon.com)
Eitan frequently lectures worldwide, primarily in Europe and the U.S., and his Hebrew-language videos, with over 25 million views, have made him a widely recognized figure in Israel for representing faith in Yeshua (Hebrew for Jesus).
I don’t have to agree with every single point of Dr. Bar’s perspective to have been greatly impacted by his book. So much to think about. I believe every American, every Westerner, should consider a Jewish perspective of the Bible—It was written by Jews (largely) to Jews (largely) so a Jewish or Second Temple Period understanding is a good hermeneutic.
I have struggled with the mainstream churches, in all I'm, "you are not alone in this." The book of Revelation is clearly explained and gives hope and peace to the heart and mind. I highly recommended you read as many of this authors books as you can. I hate to read but this is my fifth of his books and I have read them each in two days.
A must read for every Christian especially those who fear the book of Revelation or simply do not know how to interpret it. It’s full of great perspective and points the reader back to Jesus and hope of the gospel on every page. I still have questions after reading but it gave some incredible food for thought.
A Jewish perspective of Revelation gave me a deeper understanding of God’s love for humanity, the battle throughout the ages between God and Satan, good against evil, and how God inspired human words to reveal divine truths and the will of God. Recommended.
Interesting walk through the symbolism of Revelation
In the book of Revelation, John leans heavily on Old Testament symbols with deep meaning to those in the 1st Century. Eitan draws out these symbols and offers a non literal view that deepens the message of the Revelation!
This book is an enlightening perspective on the book of Revelation. The use of historical references to the meaning of symbolic language was beneficial to understanding the biblical word.
I may not agree with every point Eitan makes but it is food for thought What l do agree with is how he brings out the loving Father heart of GOD even in judgement and in humanity's final redemptive place in the presence of GOD on a restored earth
Reading Revelation through a Jewish perspective is interesting. I was taught to read the Bible literally. So to read in terms of concepts and metaphors is new to me. It definitely makes one think. It's good to get outside of our traditional thinking.
An excellent overview of Revelation - provides a much needed discussion of the imagery and overall story line of what is usually seen as the often confusing and most difficult to comprehend book of the Bible
The book starts off very promising, and is worth reading for anyone studying Revelation in depth. I found some of the discussion on artificial intelligence to trend off topic and feel like a fanciful extreme. Overall, I appreciate the resource and learned a lot.
Finally a clear, sane understanding of the book of Revelation
Excellent read!!! Highly recommend this book and author. Keeps the main thing the main thing!!! Understanding the symbolism and metaphors really brings in so much richness and application for today.
