Eris, the goddess of chaos, has given up hope of ever breaking free of the curse that’s haunted her for centuries—until the Fates offer her an unexpected chance at redemption.
Enter Enzo Silviano, a charming bartender and failed therapist with a hidden lineage going back to ancient Troy. When Eris discovers he's the key to lifting her curse, she does the one thing gods do best and traps him into a deal he can't refuse.
Their mission from the Fates? Return the legendary Palladium to its rightful place, retracing the steps of Aeneas's legendary journey to Rome, and don't go mad or get eaten by monsters on the way.
As they sail the Mediterranean, they will have to face mythical creatures, their dark pasts, and their growing feelings for each other. Eris will learn that there are some things more important than lifting her curse...and Enzo will realize that falling in love with a goddess will be the most dangerous thing he could ever do.
Please note that although 'Eris' takes place in 'The Gods Universe,' it can be read standalone. It also contains adult content, swearing, and steamy sex scenes.
Alessa Thorn believes that all monsters and villains deserve their happy endings. She prefers her clothes black, eyeliner winged and books full of hot romance. She thinks heroes are boring, so her first series 'The Court of the Underworld' centers around dark gods, monsters and villains from her favorite Greek Myths.
I really enjoyed the way this book followed a new format from the previous in the series. Alessa is still keeping it fresh even 14 books into the Gods Universe series.
As usual, Alessa Thorn has brought us another exciting chapter of the Lost Goddesses from the Gods Universe. This one is the story of the cursed goddess of chaos, Eris. Eris was introduced as a side character in the previous book (Laverna), so readers of the series will have some familiarity with her. I always enjoy the way the characters from the previous books make cameos in the new books, and this one is no different.
Eris is offered by the Fates a way to break the curse that has plagued her for hundreds of years. To help her in this quest she needs a descendent of Aeneas, and it just so happens she has recently met one: the bartender Enzo. Fans of Thorn's work will enjoy the familiar tropes she employs as mortal and goddess recognize their feelings for one another. There is plenty of humor and terrific tension as Eris and Enzo get closer and closer.
One thing I have really been enjoying about the Lost Goddesses is the use of familiar tropes that have been turned around so the typically male role is occupied by the woman. In this case it was "Who did this to you," which was employed to great effect as Eris finds scars on Enzo's body.
While this book can be read as a standalone, I would absolutely recommend starting with the previous books in the overarching series: The Gods Universe. Asterion is the first book in the first series The Court of the Underworld, featuring Greek gods and otherworldly beings, with somewhere around seven books if I remember correctly. Next is Court of the Duat, which is a trilogy of the Egyptian Gods, and then the Lost Goddesses, which has four books so far and at least two more coming. The great thing about these books is that they are short, usually around 200 - 250, quick reads that are extremely entertaining. As I said, they each stand alone but because the characters from previous books make frequent cameos in later books, for the full effect reading them all is best.
Bottom line, this was another great addition to the Gods Universe and I am looking forward to whatever comes next for the Lost Goddesses. These books are always sweet and romantic, with several spicy scenes, and a fun adventure plot filled with mythology and humor. If you are a fan of books about the gods and prefer your romances lighthearted and fun, then this series is definitely for you. 4½ out of 5 stars.
I don’t even know if I have enough words to explain how much I love the entire God’s series by Alessa Thorn. Before starting the goddesses books, I made sure to reread all the other parts of the series and I’m so glad I did. Because so many of the characters flow within all of the books. And what my favorite part of the whole series is the found family that occurs between all of these characters. A lot of them are misfits or gods that were Treated badly or isolated themselves for one reason or another, and I love the story that they all find each other and love each other and consider each other family.
This book was about the goddess Eris. I actually didn’t know much about her before I started reading this book and I did not know the whole story of Troy, etc. So this book was so fun to read and learning about this history. And then to weave into that this fictional love story was so good. I also loved about this book was the traveling through all of the areas and giving these great descriptions of the current and then talking about the past what the area look like as well.
Eris is such a lovely character and her finding her self love again and her ability to love again is so beautiful. She has a history of having one really bad day that cost her and so many other people so much and it just makes you think about all the things that we’ve done in our life out of anger and if those have the kind of consequences this did.
I loved Enzo. He saw through her tough shell and loved her so beautifully. I am excited to see them in other books as side characters and hear what else happens in their lives.
So I started my Alessa Thorn journey with Asterion and let me tell you…from then on I was hooked!! I finished The Gods Universe and then worked my way through her entire collection!! Her books and quick reads but each one packs a punch and has me falling in love with the characters! Enzo….🤌🏼 perfect in every way!! His protectiveness, his caring nature, his MOUTH! 😳🥵!!! Wow!! I never want this universe to end! Give me all of them and so much more! She has become an auto read author and I don’t see that ever changing!
I have been enjoying this series so much I don't want it to end. Just when I think everyone has had a story, another one is created by this amazing author who is giving the gods their own story
I am writing this review covering the 14 books in The Gods Universe series as this is the last book at the present moment in time. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of these books - they are all very entertaining with a new angle of looking at the Gods in question. The romance and the stories are totally different and individual for each book whilst bringing all the Gods together in one long story. One really needs to read them in the order that they were written to benefit from the stories. The stories are reasonably short but well written and so interesting. A small criticism is the large amount of grammatical/spelling mistakes in every single book. I think Alessa needs a better editor! In this final book, Alessa writes in a slightly different format to the previous books. It must be hard trying to find such a variety of different plots for each God but I felt that this final book on Eris was not as good as the previous ones and not as realistic with many loose ends and lack of explanation. I also felt that the other Gods were just bought in on occasion so that the series was still connected rather than them actually being involved in the plot and having a genuine role to play. I thoroughly recommend this entire series and look forward to some future books maybe hopefully involving Isis or Dionysus.
Great storyline and characters. I do have a few complaints.
So, I enjoyed Eris's character as well as Enzo. I would have liked a bit more (Physical) description of both the FMC & MMC. One complaint I have is that on the book cover, Eris has dark, navy blue hair (which I love), but the description in the book says she has black hair. That was definitely disappointing. My next complaint is that Enzo is mortal, so he will die one day. I kept waiting for Eris to bring that up or for something to happen to Enzo that would make him immortal. So, have they both just accepted that, or what? That's kind of an important thing to know. Other than these few complaints, I loved everything else. The places that they traveled to sounded so beautiful I could just about picture it in my head. Since I was a kid, I have been in love with mythology, mainly Greek, Roman, Norse & some Egyptian ❤️. That makes books like this so much more fun to read. Thank you Alessa Thorn for always delivering the best spice 🔥🔥🔥. I can't stand it when Authors skim through the steamy scenes, and I can always trust Alessa to not hold back. I would recommend this to anyone who loves PNR & Mythological Romance. Alessa, you are the best, 😊👍😚🤗♥️😘👌.
Another stella instalment to the God/Goddess universe. I love how AT uses the mythology history and then puts a modern spin to bring them into today's modern day. Eris finally has the opportunity to break her curse. Enzo is a mortal with family link to the gods, the fates demand they work together. They set out to break Athena's curse, setting Atana free from the Palladium (epilogue ends with the set up for her own story). Also get involvement from multiple gods/goddesses from previous books.
The romance was sweet, Enzo helps Eris realise she is worthy of love and accepts her exactly as she is, claws, fangs and all.
I have to admit when I'm speed reading because I'm inhaling this book the names Eris & Enzo blur, quite a few times I had to stop, reread, to work out who was doing what. Oops!!
I do enjoy these stories and the interconnected nature of them, and I always look forward tot he next one.
That said, in this story, I guess I miss the edginess they used to contain. I think I expected a bit more challenge to the quest, not least because it involved the goddess of chaos. It seemed a telling of a story you not only knew how it would end, but that there would be no surprises on its course. The MMC was uninspiring. Even the sex was perfunctory. All of which is unusual with both the author and any series from her.
The epilogue showed promise. Next, I'd love to see one of the most powerful goddesses rightly pissed off, a partner worthy of her and the journey not to feel like a fait accompli from page 1.
Finally Eris has the chance to break her curse and find love but to do so she must break another's curse. And oh what a twist it was, I never saw it coming. It was brilliant and I can't wait to see where the next story leads. If, like me, you've always had a special spot for the Goddess of chaos, hoping that someday she is loved and accepted then this is the book for you. Bravo Alessa, you've given us another fabulous story in this wonderful world of Gods and Goddesses that we love so much.
Yes! Another terrific installment of the series. As always I enjoy the obscure mythological facts and the unique and believable spin on the popular narrative. I’m excited for the next installments!!!! Curious to see if Poseidon ever shows up. Will he be the murderous rapist of recent myths or…… ? Please keep ‘em coming!!!
I really enjoyed Eris and Enzo's book. Talk about travelling and soul searching. ❤️ It's always fun to get cameos from other Gods as well! The spice was hawt as always, hehe, and I really enjoyed Eris' possessive streak. As always with this world it made me smile and laugh. I highly recommend!
This was a nice book. In this now very long series, it was nothing new or special. Eris wasn't unique as one of our goddesses abused by the other gods. Enzo was honestly just some guy who happened to be descended from some very special people. It seemed more like a very long prologue / set up for the next book about than anything else.
I love this series. I've been obsessed with mythology since I was little, and I've so enjoyed seeing my favorite gods and goddesses get their happily-ever-afters. I can't wait for the next installment.
Love this series and this was amazing, read in one day couldn't put it down. Thank you and please hurry up with more stories from this universe. Can't wait for the next one 😀
Love this book. I love the universe with all the gods and goddesses in it. This book absolutely one of those where I could not stop reading until I finish the last word of the last paragraph. An addicting book without question.
Yet another fabulous book from Alessa Thorn. She is in on my "never miss" list ever since the first stories. The story of Eris and Enzo is action packed, full of romance and brings full circle the drama of Eris' past as the Goddess of Discord who caused the fall of Troy.
I'm enjoying the set up and introduction of each new character to join the previous 2 series. I'm also looking forward to when a new major story arc starts to tie them all together. The stand alone romances are good, yet I'm really interested to see where Thorn plans to take the bigger story.
As with the others in this series I simple adored Eris, I love that she got her Enzo and a happy ever after. I love all this authors work but really really hope that she comes back to this series soon.
The story telling is wonderful and the twists and turns in the telling and myths themselves are absolutely breathtaking. I was crying, smiling and laughing the entire time
This series are lighted hearted and enjoyable stories of Greek and Roman gods, their connections, and journeys they go on. This book was a fun, non-serious read.
I am so happy for Eris and Enzo. I am looking forward to a mini book focusing on all those therapy sessions to be. Poor Atana and her story. We need to see her healed.
