Death By Espresso: A Cozy Cafe Culinary Mystery

Rate this book
In the heart of Amblewood’s bustling downtown, Café Cozy is the go-to spot for warm conversations, freshly brewed coffee, and a touch of autumn magic.

Owned by Emma Blake, the café is more than just a place to grab a latte—it’s a community hub where friends gather, secrets are shared, and the espresso is always made with love.

But when ruthless food critic Derrick Matheson collapses after sipping the café’s newest seasonal drink, the cozy atmosphere turns cold. Whispers of poisoning spread through the town like wildfire, and business drops as suspicion swirls around Emma and her beloved café.

Determined to clear her name and save her grandmother’s legacy, Emma teams up with local police officer William Morrigan—her childhood friend with a protective streak—to uncover the truth behind Derrick’s untimely death. Emma dives into the tangled lives of her regulars. They each had a reason to despise Derrick—especially after his scathing reviews ruined their businesses, relationships, and reputations.

As Emma sorts through bitter rivalries, cryptic clues, and a café full of red herrings, she discovers that Derrick’s death may not be as straightforward as it seems. Can Emma unmask the real culprit before her café’s reputation is forever stained, or will the secrets of Amblewood’s tight-knit community remain hidden beneath the froth of a perfectly brewed espresso?

Perfect for fans of warm-hearted mysteries with a side of coffee-shop charm!

I rarely abandon a book, but I did this. I almost wondered it was written by AI?
The elements of a cozy mystery are there, the words are beautiful, but it feels so over the top. Excellent words clothe very simple plot points - so many excellent words that the effect is smothering.

I listened to the book on Audible. The Virtual Voice was pleasant. I completed a little more than half the book before deciding my time was better spent elsewhere.
