Well, my past is worse than most, and it hasn’t come back solely to haunt me. It’s returned to annihilate me and everyone I love.
Now I know our pasts are tied together. I should have stayed away. I should have continued to run. But I couldn’t.
Gabriel is my addiction.
No matter how hard I fight it, I just can’t let him go. My love for him is all-consuming. I want him with everything I am. He gave me light when I’ve lived in a world of nothing but darkness.
But the other shoe has finally dropped. Our pasts have returned. And they’ve set out to destroy us both.
Born and raised around Houston, Jessica is a self proclaimed caffeine addict, connoisseur of inexpensive wine, and the worst driver in the state of Texas. In addition to being all of these things, she’s first and foremost a wife and mom. Growing up, she shared her mom and grandmother’s love of reading. But where they leaned toward murder mysteries, Jessica was obsessed with all things romance. When she’s not nose deep in her next manuscript, you can usually find her with her kindle in hand.

Just as meh as book 1,I appreciate how much this author's writing style has improved however
The H is even more bossy and possessive The h is just as idiotic and immature OW out the wazoo, this dude slept with his assistant, his decorator, his childhood sweetheart and was also married but the love of his life tragically was killed All OW loved rubbing up on the H in front of the h and though he didn't want them he didn't quite put a stop to it in a manner to suit me until the latter half of the book The h and her friend were kidnapped by the same man who abused her for years and her friend is raped repeatedly by his men H/h get their hea Meh😒
What a great conclusion to Gabriel and Marley's story! Finished this in one sitting. Phew. I can't wait to see more of Aldo and Carmen in the next book.
I still don't like Gabriel. I know some readers have a hard on for super possessive, protective, demanding alpha male but not that person is not me. Don't get me wrong, I love me some alpha male but overly alpha males make me want to scream. And in this case with Gabriel, it doesn't help that he reminds me of Christian Grey and if you know me personally, you'd know that I hate Christian with a burning passion.
Marley's pretty reluctant to get back with Gabriel in this book, which is understandable, considering the circumstances. One of the things that majorly annoyed me was her insecurities. She claimed to trust Gabriel but the second when seed of doubt entered her mind, she ran for the hills. I wish she would stop that -- that guy pretty much worshiped the ground she walked on. It's frustrating to watch. I swear this book is like 45% grovelling Gabe and believe me I didn't mind that at first but it just got hella annoying.
In spite of all that, surprisingly, I really enjoyed this book. Hence, the 4.
Everyone has a past. Some pasts are worse than others. When Gabriel's past rears its ugly head, it effects Marley and his relationship. Marley has been honest with Gabriel about her past. She has shared with him things she has never shared with anyone. So when Marley finds out that Gabriel has been hiding a part of his past that impacts them both, she is devastated, she feels deceived. Marley can't handle the information that she received, so Marley does what Marley does best, she runs.
"I fell in love with a man I didn't even know. You can't change that. You can't make it better. And you can't make it hurt any less. I opened myself up to you. I confided in you, and I thought I was getting the same in return. I spend years building up my defenses for this very reason, and I stupidly let you in and let myself believe you would help me heal. And you crushed me." ~ Marley
Gabriel knows he messed up, that he should have told Marley as soon as he figured out that their paths had crossed. But he didn't, now he has to deal with the consequences of his decisions. Gabriel has lost Marley and he will stop at nothing to win her trust back. He knows that Marley loves him, so won't allow her to walk away. He will fight for her. He is Gabriel Bertozzi, he always gets what he wants.
"I'll keep pushing you until I have what I want. Until you're naked underneath me with my cock buried so deep, you'll never be able to live without it again." ~ Gabriel
Marley is once again broken, destroyed. She thought she could trust Gabriel, but when she learns that he has been keeping things from her, she realizes that she doesn't know the man she has fallen in love with. Marley is Gabriel's life. She has given him a reason to live. When he fell in love with her, she woken up a part of him that he thought died many years ago. Gabriel will stop at nothing to get Marley back. Marley tries to stay away from Gabriel, but he has her heart. No matter how hurt she is, her heart belongs to Gabriel.
"My heart and my body belong to Gabriel Bertozzi; every single part of me belongs to him. And it always will." ~ Marley
In Destructive, you are a roller coaster and your emotions will be all over the place. Gabriel and Marley's pasts both come back to haunt them and Gabriel has already lost people who he loved, and he vows that history will not repeat itself. He will stop at nothing to keep Marley safe. Gabriel is not proud of the things he has done in his past, but he will not allow his past to dictate his future. His future is Marley.
"You're my obsession, Marley. Can't you see that? I'm addicted to you in every way, and I absolutely fucking love it." ~ Gabriel
"I crave him just as much as he craves me, if not more. He's my addiction. And I don't know if I can quit... or if I even want to." ~ Marley
Gabriel and Marley's journey was an emotional ride. I felt the pain that Marley felt when she found out about Gabriel's past, how their pasts had crossed. Jessica Prince made me feel the heartache that Marley was feeling. I loved this story and with each turn of the page, Marley was not a push over, she knew she what she deserved, and I loved that about her. She was strong and after everything she had gone through, she was a survivor. She was loyal to those that she loved and would stop at nothing to keep those that she loved safe, even if it meant sacrificing herself. Will Gabriel be able to earn Marley's trust back? Will their pasts destroy their future? Will Marley's past come back to haunt her? Will the demons from her past destroy her? Will Gabriel be able to protect Marley from her past? Will Gabriel and Marley's love be strong enough to get past this?
Destructive and Addictive are must reads. I absolutely LOVED these two books. I am patiently waiting for Obsessive, and from what I have come to expect from Jessica Prince, she will not let me down.
This just didn't work for me. Marley's immature behaviour got on my nerves and by Chapter 9 I was shouting out loud at her, she came across as a petulant child most of the time. and I hated the fact that she smoked, it really didn't bring anything to the story.
I hated that Marley kept telling Gabriel to fuck off, and when he did, she couldn't get over how painful it was. The communication between them left a lot to be desired ... Marley managed to create an argument out of everything and it became extremely tiresome to read. I had a few problems with Gabe, but overall he was a caring and protective man, who I felt didn't deserve to have to constantly run after Marley.
I disliked Carmen immensely. There was nothing endearing about her, she couldn't seem to speak without shouting and it got rather annoying after a while. Having said that, I did feel badly for her in the end. How the hell did she spend more of Gabe's money on a shopping spree than Marley? Greedy little monster. Seriously, she has a screw loose and I unfortunately won't be reading her and Aldo's story.
I felt there was too much repetition in this book: "Let me fuck the fight out of you." "My panties are soaked at his words." etc, etc.
I found it interesting that there was so much danger around them, always waiting for the worst to happen, but Gabe didn't think to give Marley her own security, hence she was vulnerable to the elements looking for her. The final incident was also interesting. Gabe, Aldo and Conor couldn't find Gianni or Almaraz over the course of two books, but one person found them easily and helped set up the final dramatic scene. Puhlease.
The first word that comes to mind with this series is..."Intense".
It is so full of action and non-stop drama that you just can't put it down.
Gabriel Bertozzi, Tall, dark, handsome, rich, controlling, protective, and above all...persistent.
While some might think he is a "controlling bastard", Others will see him as a man in love being very protective and not giving up on what he wants.
I think Jessica wrote some very good Alpha traits in him. While he is confident, he doesn't come off as too cocky. He knows when to push and when to back off.
Now little Marley isn't just some push over. She has a strong head on her shoulders and knows what her goals are and how she wants to achieve them, even if that meant having to give up on Gabriel.
There's a lot of wonderful side characters such as; Matty, Carmen, and Aldo. Along side that there are villains you love to hate; Kiersten, Gianni, and Eduardo.
Jessica takes us to a dark place in this book, I really can't wait for book 3, to get us back into the light. While things end on a high note for Marley and Gabe...It isn't so pretty for Carmen. I can't wait to be led on that road through her demons. I have a feeling its going to be a gut wrenching experience, but I'm sure Jessica will make it worth our while, she always does.
I can't say this enough, JP's writing just continues to grow with each book she writes. I hope big things happen for her, this is my favorite series from her yet.
I loved Addictive as much as, if not more than, Destructive. After that huge revelation in Destructive, Marley understandably wants nothing more to do with Gabriel. And in an act of solidarity Jules also ends things with Aldo. This makes for two very grumpy alphas.
Gabriel eventually steamrolls his way back into Marley's life and after a big scare she stops fighting her feelings.
I love a story with crazy bitch exes and Kiersten takes the cake. I love how Marley handled her every time.
I think I loved the climax of the story the best. One thing I didn't buy was And even though I guessed Gianni's secret early on I still thought it was brilliant.
I also didn't think Marley was sensitive enough to Gabriel's tragedy but that's a minor complaint. The ending was fantastic. I can't wait for Obsessive. Aldo has his work cut out for him. Well done!
That was an intense follow up. Gabe never gives up on winning Marley back. Marley is hesitant, wanting to go back to Gabriel, but not knowing if it's what she should do. There's lots of drama from Gabe's crazy-as-hell ex and his enemies. The story was well told and kept me intrigued. I'll anxiously await Aldo and Carmen's story.
It's funny that I accidentally read this series in backward. I started with Addictive and reading the first few pages I knew I was already hooked. I love Gabe & Marley's intense passion for each other that it was nearly obsessive and burning.
4.5 stars. Loved this book just as much as the first. The twists and turns had kept me interested. I think I will definitely enjoy the rest if the series and looking forward to Carmen and Aldo's story.
Marley is the classic tortured heroine - her childhood was stolen from her and she is running from her past. While I did not relate to her, my heart bled for the atrocities she suffered as a child. I fell in love with Gabriel, our sexy male lead, who had a bit of a tortured past himself. The insta-love between Marley and Gabriel was not believable given her past. However, it didn't overly detract from the story. And the length of time it took them to become a couple worked with the length of the book. The first book allowed the relationship to develop between our main characters, while the second book was full of action and suspense. I reviewed these 2 books together because the Marley-Gabriel relationship spans these books, and Book 3 (TBR 2015) is going to focus on the relationship between secondary characters.
I liked that the story was told from an alternating POV - although we heard more from Marlena than Gabriel. While the idea of the book was not original - it had enough fan favorites to make it enjoyable. A good recipe for these books seems to be the tortured past, dark secrets, crazy ex-girlfriends, and good secondary characters. This book has all of those. This was my first time reading Jessica Prince, and I will definitely continue with the series.
I gave it 2.5/2 stars instead of 3 because, there were a lot of novels that I've rated with 3.5 stars and gave it 3 stars, so I think it's unfair for those who deserved a 3.5 to give this one a 3.
The writing style is the same in the first book, dual 1st person, still, I didn't hang on to every words and skipped a lot. I'm not saying that the writing style is bad, it's just that I didn't feel like reading everything that's been written, like what was written ain't too exciting or important, it's more than that but I just couldn't explain it well.
The story improved, I like the story flow, and I do like the characters. I have nothing against the story, just the writing style. So, 2 stars.
Amazing fucking book, I was up all night reading it. I was so excited after finishing the first book waiting for this one & it did not disappoint. Gabriel, OMG, I love him he is the total package. I really like Marley's character except I think she was to stubborn about forgiving Gabriel. I was cheering Gabriel on when he got back at that crazy bitch Kiersten.
" You mind getting to your point so I can go to bed or are you just going to stand there staring at my tits all night ?"
" Just trying to imagine how sore your nipples must be right now. You went off like a fucking rocket when I was rough with them. Flooded my cock, baby."
Jessica knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat with the second book in the Deadly Love series. Now,if you haven't read Distructive, the first book in the series, drop what you are doing right now ....yes, I mean now and get it so you can begin this amazing journey of Gabriel and Marley. Addictive picks up right where Distructive left so you don't have missed a moment with your new book boyfriend Gabriel.
Lately i just read and rate the book. But heck this series blow my mind. Im fucking lovw it. I slept night because of this book. I love marley, she just fucking strong. And i love ho cocky asshole gabriel someties lol, he just so freaking alpha male! Yeaaahhh... I cant wait to see aldo and carmen books next
I only read this because I read book 1. This story should have been done in one book. I don't mind dark, but Book 2 was over top DARK. Very repetitive and lots of sex. I'm not prude but eventually it grew tired to read. Gabriel is a hot alpha who gets what he wants and likes to please we get it! Not the typical Jessica Prince read. Like her better light.
I just can’t do it. I powered through the first one, even though I HATE/LOATHE/DESPISE insta-love, just to get to what I thought would be epic groveling in this one… buuuttt alas. Nope. I love an alpha, but when he fucks up I need him to grovel. Not physically and emotionally force the h to stay with him. She talked a big game but was just a huge pushover, accepting anything he demanded because she was sooooo in love with him (after like 4 days) and was soooo attracted to him. I also found it hard to believe that this woman who was horribly raped and abused for a large portion of her life went from having no sex and being scared of men (AND telling the H she wanted to take it slow) to having kinky/rough sex RIGHT AWAY. Bleh. Between all of that AND the horribly typos I just can’t do it! I’m also going to adjust my rating on the first book down a bit, because I rated it a bit higher due to my hope for this one. Ha! On to the next.
This installment finished up Marley and Gabe's love story but there is supposed to be an additional book in the series that tells Aldo and Carmen's story. Unfortunately Amazon didn't have the third book so now the story is left with loose ends. The book was set to be published in 2015 so it's annoying to have spent money on this series and not have the ending. I loved Gabe's possessiveness and Marley came out of her shell more in this installment. I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the first book but it was still a good read. This story is dark and gritty and definitely not for everyone. There are some grizzly scenes and can be a trigger for someone with an abuse history. It was sad but nice to see Marley overcome her past.
Addictive Book 2 Of The Deadly Love Series was the continuous story of Gabriel and Marley by Author Jessica Prince. I was caught up in the Suspense, Intrigue, Thrills and the Sizzling Heat and Raw Sex of Gabriel Bertozzi. Addictive is a Sinfully Delicious Erotica Romance full of Mystery, Suspense, Toe Tingling Sex and Darkness as Gabriel’s and Marley’s past unravels before them. Marley and Gabriel’s relationship can be volatile and combustible, yet full of love and passion, imagine hot and spicy poured over melting sweet chocolate, that’s the relationship between Gabriel and Marley. I was glued to this book from beginning till the end, a Definite Must Read!!! It is highly Addictive!!!
Gabriel always gets what he wants and he still wants Marley...forever. Their twisted past come back to haunt them. Deceit and lies of omission cause their break up but Gabriel will stop at nothing to make it up to her. When their past starts making threats and obvious moves towards Marley, Gabriel pulls her back to him to protect her with all he has. Mistakes can be made, accidents happen and we are left wondering if our bad boy hero always gets his way. Awesome story!
So I’d hoped for Kiersten’s comeuppance and BOY, did she get it. The second half of Gabriel and Marley’s story was painful and fraught with worry and drama, but it was definitely perfect for this duet. They manage to find their way back to good, only to have others try to rip them apart...permanently. I’m not sure why I hadn’t read this series before now, but I’m definitely glad that I finally noticed it.
I’ll have to beg for Carmen and Aldo to get their own HEA now, too. They surely deserve one.
Finally! The last book ended in heartache. I knew there was a second so I wasn’t worried but Marley made Gabriel work for it. There’s so much pain that comes through this book. There’s enemies that are coming after them an no one close to them will be safe. This was horrific, gruesome and beautiful at the same time. There’s passion, heat and love. It really is a great ending. My only issue is that we are left hanging on Carmen and Arlo. There was supposed to be a book about them but it never came out. Still hoping for that.
I love Jessica Prince books, this was a little different then others I have read of her's. But it was a awesome story. I would like to read Carman's story, it would be a great follow up book. Keep up the good work!!!!
Fanbloodytastic series ! I have loved these 2 books and it was a great ending to both these characters story . Soooooo want to read about Carmen and Aldo tho , please release that book x
