When you hear about deathbed confessions, you think of life advice, expressions of love, or heartfelt apologies. That wasn’t the case for me. My father used his last breath to tell me I’d never make it in my field of work. How could I be enough for anyone when I wasn’t enough for him? I should quit while I’m ahead he said.
His words lit the torch to be the best Sports Journalist I could be. To make it to the top would mean I proved him wrong on this side of the grave. When my boss offers me the opportunity of a lifetime, I jump in with both feet.
I enlist the help of The Tampa Bay Hawks Hockey team, who I’m covering this season, to help me pull off the event my future depends on.
Finding a group of people who accept me as I am in the process wasn’t in the plans, neither was falling for the man with a pure heart, kind smile, and demons that rival my own.
When push comes to shove, can we pull this off, or will we all drown?

Your honor i found my new favourite book! This book was pure perfection. I LOVE this book so much it was such a heartwarming read, how two broken people fixed each other. *TAKE MY HEART!* I didn’t expect it to be that good cuz I just picked this book randomly without seeing any reviews or something (just because I loved the cover *ahm*) but I’m glad I picked it and it didn’t disappoint me.💅🏻 I love Han and Grey’s bond, their banter and the nicknames for each other. That’s cute.
I will never get over this. This book was honestly perfect. The characters are perfect. My heart is so full of them.
𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙮𝙨𝙤𝙣 the sweetest boy you are!! I love him so much the best man ever!😭🫶🏻 the way he loves and cares for Hannah and stands for her>>> Greyson is one of the sweetest kindest and purest guy ever! He reads her book with her!!!!!!!! He is a true Gentleman. He’s such a pookie🥹
𝙃𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙖𝙝 you’re strongest sweetheart. I loved her character as well she’s so strong, kindhearted and trying hard for herself… wish I could just give her a tight hug. I wish I could comfort her. “She’s so me” in so many things and I can relate to her and understand her… and Hannah and Abby’s friendship is everything.
The friendships are WHOLESOME🫠🤌🏻 The whole book is so beautiful I wish I could read it for the first time again :(
AAAAA he wears a cat collar around his ankle as a good luck charm which she gave it to him! (Man in love is stupidly beautiful thing ever) ILOVEMANINLOVE!🎀
“The way love shines so bright in her eye when she looks at the cutest fur baby I’ve ever seen, suddenly I wish I was the dog. Wait. No.” (Okie so where can i get this man? 👉🏻👈🏻)
Overall the book was actual perfection, the rollercoaster of emotions. This book has a special place in my heart… I loved the story line the banter between characters the friendships and especially Greyson and Hannah bond and the way they stand for each other and being there for each other is so wholesome and heartwarming. And the mental health thing was also one of good things in the book and i can relate with it in some ways especially with Hannah. Greyson is one of the bestest man ever and he’s not some kind of grumpy man he’s the sweet guy always asking her out and doing all the stuff. Greyson and Hannah were kinda bold-ish at some points that I liked and hate at the same time but that didn’t make me like them any less. and I also want to say that how sweet Greyson’s dad is like with Hannah l. His family is sweet. The way they take stand for her ah I can’t even tell how it warms up my heart! and there was her own dad a mean one i feel so bad for her but she has Abby and Grey and who are here for her and support her. THIS BOOK LIVES RENT FREE IN MY HEAD! 💌😭🤌🏻
I was super lucky to read this book as an ARC. I am always so privileged when I do get this chance. I was blown away by this book, I highly enjoyed the emotional roller coaster I went through. There was moments of happiness, giggles and kicking my feet but there was also moments my chest felt tight and my heart was squeezing. Towards the end I did have tears, it was heartbreaking. However, it does have a HEA so I don’t mind a bit of heartbreak as long as it gets put back together again. Lindsey’s writing was captivating, the narrative/descriptive writing was phenomenal. I could really feel for the characters and I got sucked right in to the story. I couldn’t put it down and binged read it in one day. The mental health element was done so well, suffering from mental health myself I feel it represented it perfectly. When you get in that headspace it’s hard to speak about what feelings you are feeling, let alone write it down. Lindsey has done an excellent job accomplishing that written element. Hannah was treasure with such a sweet personality. She was going through so much but still made sure she was there for her friends and family. I liked that she was timid and shy, but also a little chaotic. Hannah was such a relatable character and had such wonderful character growth. Greyson, where can I find you? Oh my…he was hot and so swoon worthy. His demenour and qualities were just so amazing. The way he fell first and just kept falling for Hannah made my heart swell. He was the sweetest human. He also had his struggles and I just wanted to reach through the kindle and hug him. The lighthouse literally had me gasping and kicking my legs, it was so gorgeous. How could you not love him? Hannah was doomed from the start. Side characters get a huge shoutout!! Can’t wait for their books. THE WHOLE DAMN BOOKCLUB!! ~ I don’t want to give too much away. This book was not spicey. However, that didn’t take away from anything. It was a breath of fresh air to read a story that was all about the journey of connection and love. Congratulations Lindsey, I cannot wait for others to experience this book!
If you want a book with great characters and characters you can easily relate to, then this book is for you.
The mental health representation in this book was amazing. As a reader, this book had me tearing up at some points but apart from that, it aslo made me laugh.
Hannah and Greyson are now in my top book couples list because they are just so cute and are there for each other. They both have things they are going through but one thing they surely did was support each other and that was just beautiful to see.
This book was so good and might just be in my top 3 best book read in January. I personally can't wait to read more book by this author.
Thank you Luna Literary and author Lindsey Saenz for giving me this arc in exchange for an honest review 💚.
4.5 ⭐️ Why you’ll love this book!! Hockey Romance Closed Door Romance Strangers To Lovers Found Family
I loved the two so much seeing them grow was awesome!! I love the found family aspect of this book .. I am a sucker for found family and finding others that love you for you!! I loved all the emotions I went through for this book one moment you kicking you feet giggling the next your in tears.. I read this book in a day I also loved that it was closed door romance sometimes I need that from a book!!
I’ve read a lot of books that have mental health reps in them but this one is, by far, the best I’ve ever read. As someone who has the same struggles as both Greyson and Hannah, it was really therapeutic to see this play out in a book.
Hannah and Greyson meet when she’s assigned to plan a huge charity event and needs his hockey team’s help. She’s been covering his team for her current job as a sports journalist. They instantly develop a friendship and find they both have similar struggles.
Their mental health journeys are painfully accurate. Hannah grew up hearing nothing but negative things about herself from her father. Greyson had struggles with depression early on his life but it got worse thanks to a vicious ex. There’s absolutely no shame in going to therapy and that was very evident in this book. I also loved how supportive Hannah was when he would have panic attacks. I loved how Greyson would always make sure she knew how amazing she was. One of my favorite things about this book was that while there is a happy ending, their struggles don’t magically go away. If that isn’t real life then I don’t know what is!
While this was an emotional read, there were some hilarious moments too. His team kept me laughing with their antics. I adored them for banding together for Hannah and Greyson when each of them needed it most. Also, Greyson’s brother (Tatum) and Hannah’s best friend (Abby) were THE BEST. I truly hope we see more of them in the future!
Hannah and Greyson, my sweet babies! I love these two so much. I had the privilege to beta read this, and I knew from even that point that I was going to fall in love with these characters. This is so much more than just a romance story. This is a story of two individuals who each have their own mental health journey that they are on, and in the process they learn to lean on each other.
This was definitely an emotional ride because it was so real and raw with what each of these individuals go through. I’ve read my fair share of mental health rep tropes, but Lindsey really wrote a powerful one with Hannah and Greyson! I loved the development and lessons they learned.
While it was heavy in some parts, it was equally just as funny! I absolutely laughed out loud multiple times! The found family/friend group here is one of the best! I loved all of Greyson’s teammates and every scene these guys were in, and Abby, I was losing it!
I just know Abby & Tatum are going to be so fun together, I cannot wait for them!! But I also need Monroe’s story — he absolutely stole the spotlight countless times 🤣 “𝘓𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦; 𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘶𝘯𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘈𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘢 𝘪𝘧 𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳.”
Overall Lindsey’s writing is so descriptive and captivating that I truly felt like I was immersed in their world! I can’t wait for more from her 🫶🏼
🤍 hockey romance 🎡 he falls first 🤍 slow burn 🎡 mental health rep 🤍 strangers to lovers 🎡 found family 🤍 closed door romance
I am teetering between 3.5 and 4 stars for this book, so lets say 3.75 stars. I really loved the story between Hannah and Greyson. This book is a sports romance and the spicy level I'd give a 0. This was a nice change of pace with the spicy reads I've done lately. Sometimes I just want a plot and no main characters jumping each other every time they are in the vicinity of one another. This book focused more on the mental health issues each main character was experiencing and you know- I really appreciated that POV. I have really been struggling this new year with anxiety and depression. Having a writer put it in the story and really capture what its like to be depressed and what its like to have anxiety was quite nice. Better than I expected, before starting the book i considered not giving it a shot just because of what i got going on but it actually really helped me looking from the outside for once> so Thank you Lindsey. I also have realized with the more romance books i get into- i really like the found family aspect. the found family in this story was perfect. I would love to go to book club every Wednesday with a bunch hockey players whose banter is also on point.
There’s books that sometimes you read and it’s like a big giant smack in the face of “oh this is my life just published in a book.” The way Lindsey brought these two “broken” characters together and beautifully showed us how they fought through their struggles to end up with a beautiful ending was pure magical. Lindsey made the struggles that Hannah and Greyson faced so relatable that I felt every emotion these two felt to my core. The supporting characters in this story were perfectly crafted and made this story even better. And now I’m ready for book 2 to see how the “terrifying pixie” Abby and grumpy pants Tatum’s story unfolds…
I absolutely loved this book! The all the things that happen in this book are filled with such meaning!
The Other Side of Wild is a he falls first, found family, hockey romance that has so much meaning to it that I was wowed by the truthfulness and emotion it captured. Between the tears, laughs, and the smiles I found this book to express effortlessly. These characters are determined to live the life they want and need. The way Lindsey Saenz wrote this has just left me speechless as to where I can’t find the correct words to describe how impactful this book was. I love Hannah and Greyson so much. This book I will truly remember!
I excited to see what else this author has in store. I definitely recommend this book for others!
I really enjoyed this book. I am lucky to have read such a heartwarming romance. There were definitely elements that pulled at my heart but I loved it all the same. The two main characters worked so well together and it was nice to see two flawed characters help each other through the story. Highly recommend . Would love to read more by this author in the future!
My two sweet babies, Hannah and Greyson 🫶🏼 This was such a beautifully written book about two flawed individuals who find friendship, love and healing in one another. I truly enjoyed the mental health aspect of this and feel as if Lindsey was spot on - she gives you two relatable characters struggling through depression and doubts of not feeling worthy enough of love.
I stayed up past my bed time to binge read and this did not disappoint! I went through a roller coaster of emotions from happy, excited, swooning, laughing, to literally feeling my heart breaking, just for Lindsey to put it back together perfectly. I wanted so badly to just dive right into my kindle and bear hug the heck out of Bulldozer and Kitten - IYKYK.
Despite their internal struggles, I enjoyed seeing how they never let their darkness overcome them and battled it beautifully. The support system that Hannah and Greyson had by their side 24/7 is what everyone deserves when the darker days become too much, and I was constantly giggling with their constant banter, commentary and humor.
This was such a sweet read so if you’re a sucker for hockey romance, golden retriever MMC, strangers to lovers, found family, and a good slow burn, I highly recommend adding this to your TBR - 3 more sleeps until you all get to fall in love with this book as much as I did!

This is a beautifully written, emotionally challenging, clean romance. I can't remember that last time I was this connected to a character's struggles. There was nothing over the top about these characters or their pain. This is a friends-to-lovers romance that follows Greyson and Hannah. He is a hockey player and she is the sports journalist that is covering his team. They are fighting their own demons while trying to fight the others too. This book made me tear up and laugh, I swear every other chapter 🤭 I forgot how a good wholesome book felt like. I can't wait to read more from this author!
This story is adorable! Hannah and Greyson are the perfect, imperfect pair. I could relate to Hannah’s career struggles so much, and I loved seeing her come into herself. Greyson is… chef’s kiss! On the surface, he’s the sweet guy, but there are so many layers to him that are revealed throughout the story. It was great to see his growth. For a clean and closed-door romance, this one had me 😅😮💨. If you’re looking for a romance with humor and a side of hockey, this one’s for you!
This is the first book that I've read by this author and I wasn't sure really what to expect.
The front cover looked really cute and I was excited to dive on in.
But, if I'm honest though, when I spotted that it was a closed door romance, I wondered whether it would feel authentic enough or whether there would be enough to hold my interest throughout.
Well, how wrong I was.
Being a closed door romance meant that there was so much more scope for the storyline to shine and the characters to really evolve and develop.
There were a couple of moments where I thought this didn't flow so well or that the story lacked a more intimate interaction to move things along - it just didn't seem logical - but this was soon forgotten as the next scene pushed us forward.
I adored all of the characters - yes, even grumpy Tatum and the hideous Cara.
They all played their parts to perfection and added so much to the storyline and the themes of the book.
I can see great things from the rest of the series!
But obviously, this book focuses on Hannah and Greyson.
From their (not so cute) meet cute, to their support of each other - through both their vulnerabilities and clashes - and right through to finding that connection, I loved it all!
The addition of the book club scenes was just everything! So funny and amazing!
Now, this book really took me on an emotional rollercoaster.
As much as I loved the storyline and the mental health rep - this one really triggered me.
And I have never felt like this before!
This book deals (in great detail) with depression (among other things).
The descriptions of how this manifested for Grey were so, so accurate and I think this will help so many people see that they're not alone, that it is ok to feel this way.
Although I've read many books that explore this topic, I've never had one hit me so hard.
And I feel that really, it was the portrayal of the people around Greyson, that really affected me more than the condition itself.
Seeing how the people around him supported and dealt with his episodes, actually made me realise just what I was missing!
It's definitely a tough read!
I almost had to dnf - but I pushed through and came out the other side - I'm actually so proud of myself and I think that this was so, so well written.
A great portrayal with lessons for both those suffering and those supporting too! Bravo.
I loved the sneak peek at book 2 at the end and I'm already excited to get my hands on this and read Tatum's story.
Hannah has been working her tail off to be the best Sports Journalist she can. After a confession from her father that she would never be good enough to make it in a male dominated field, Hannah has made it her mission to be successful. When offered an opportunity by her boss to organize the yearly youth charity event, Hannah creates an event with a carnival-esque theme. She leaves the meeting to go interview the Tampa Bay Hawks hockey team as part of a get-to-know-the-team session, she is literally bulldozed over by a hockey player opening the locker room door. Greyson doesn't realize at first that he's knocked Hannah over, until she quips back at him after he grumbles a "Watch where you're going." Their initial meeting is sweet, with him helping her off the floor, and her joking he should have a bell on him for more warning.
The relationship between Hannah and Greyson is a slow and steady burn that continues to build throughout the book. He absolutely falls first, but she isn't too far behind. Both Hannah and Greyson endure mental health traumas that affect their day to day lives, and their relationship is one that provides support and a safe haven. Mental health is a heavy subject, and Lindsey Saenz handled the situations in this book really well. The dual point of view was really key here, and I enjoyed reading from both perspectives.
The supporting cast is great - I love Abby, and how she helps to push Hannah to go have fun, and not just focus on work all the time. The hockey team is amazing, and I love how they rallied behind Hannah when she needed the support. The team becomes a found family for Hannah, and I can't say enough how much I love all of it. The charity carnival was amazing- to see how well Hannah's vision came to life, and how successful it was.
This was a great read. Be mindful that this book does focus a lot on mental health. Know that you are strong, you are worthy, and you are enough.
“Life is good. Life is beautiful. Life is so much better on the other side of wild.”
Hannah is a goal-driven sports journalist in Tampa with no social life and a habit of blaming herself for every failed relationship. Deep down, she feels like she’s chasing a dream that might not even be hers—but one thing keeps her going: a life mission to prove her father wrong from his side of the grave. Her only real friend is Abby, the physical therapist for the Hawks hockey team. While covering a charity event to interview the players, Hannah is about to meet the coach when she gets knocked to the ground by a hockey stick—and the player holding it, Greyson Wilder. He’s tall, built like a tank, ridiculously good-looking, and just so happens to be a Tampa local. From that moment on, her simple assignment takes a turn—and nothing stays simple for long.
The Other Side of Wild is a raw, honest story about mental health, where characters deal with anxiety, depression, and everyday struggles without quick fixes or sugarcoating. It’s relatable in the best way—showing how people just try to get through, one day at a time. An injury, a returning ex, and Greyson’s brother Tatum (who’s hilarious, by the way) add just the right mix of drama and humor. And the weekly book club with hockey players? Total vibe, with banter that hits every time. Plus, the cute soundtrack and promotional materials give it that extra cool factor, making the whole experience even more vibey.
A big thanks to Luna Literary Management and Lindsey Saenz for sending me a digital ARC of this book! — #lateARCreview
This book is very much a hallmark movie shoved into a romance novel. The characters are flat, the dialogue is beyond cheesy, the set up is illogical, the conflict is silly, reactions come out of nowhere, and religion pops up randomly.
Their meet cute is him knocking her to the ground (along with her physics-defying coffee, which doesn’t spill), growling at her, then immediately apologizing and being sweet. That’s basically the sort of emotional whiplash you have to prepare for.
I have no idea why a sports journalist would want to switch to sports marketing for a city magazine (and why would the magazine be marketing the sports teams to begin with?) but it’s apparently something she wants so badly she’s forsaking all relationships. Except the ones she’s not. Also, she’s proving she’s qualified by…fundraising for youth sports teams?
The MMC is super torn up about his ex, to the point that he’s crying in public over text messages she’s sending him. The FMC asks what he needs and he says he needs a new phone number. Why he couldn’t have done that days ago is never explained.
The MMC’s younger brother is also his best friend and most wise advice-giver but gives the most ridiculously off-base advice that I question the MMC’s decision making skills for consulting him.
Also: the nicknames. She jokes about him needing a bell so he doesn’t knock her down, gives him a cat collar with a bell, but somehow he calls HER kitten? Make it make sense.
The FMC also runs on “coffee and sarcasm” and much is made of her liking pineapple on pizza. These aren’t personality traits, but the book sure wants you to think they are.
This book was an emotional gem that had me laughing, crying, and swooning from start to finish. Lindsey’s writing pulled me in immediately—her portrayal of mental health struggles was raw, real, and beautifully done. Hannah was sweet, relatable, and quietly strong, while Greyson? Absolute perfection. His tenderness and devotion made my heart melt, and that lighthouse scene had me grinning like a fool.
The side characters brought warmth and humor, and I’m dying to read their stories next. This isn’t a spicy romance, but the depth of connection and love made it unforgettable. A heartfelt, genuine story about healing, love, and showing up for the people you cherish. Absolutely recommend!

“You’re mine, Hannah,” I whisper, the words feel as natural as breathing. “Whether you know it or not, you’re mine.”
“You are the light to my dark, the peace to my storm. You just sitting here fills me with the courage to face the most broken parts of me. You make me want to be better, not only for you but for me, too. Your brokenness calls to mine, and when we put our two broken halves together, we’re whole. And I’ll be damned if I ever let you feel like you’re not enough because, baby, you’re everything.”
‼️Book coming out January 14th on Amazon, and I'm already so stoked for everyone to read it and love it as much as I did‼️
📖The Other Side of Wild by Lindsey Saenz 📖 One of the best hockey romance books I have read!
First of all- absolutely loved the dedicated (already off to a good start). “To everyone who has ever been told you aren’t enough, this one’s for you. You are enough, you matter. I see you. Go prove them wrong” I need to write that down on a sticky note and put it on my bathroom mirror so I don’t doubt myself each day, so Lindsey, from me to you, thanks for that.
Now the story- a roller coaster of emotions! I was shaking this book screaming at times, I cried along side the characters, I was swooning, my heart melted, and there was a point in the story where my heart sank. But don’t worry, this book has the perfect ending.
Greyson has the best golden retriever energy, and the book has a golden retriever in it too- so dog lovers like me will be happy.
Hannah- fueled by iced coffee, because let’s be honest who isn’t? I’d like to meet them. A sarcastic adorable kitten of a character.
I cannot wait for you to meet these two!

Blurb: Hannah is a hardworking sports journalist assigned to cover the Tampa Bay Hawks. Greyson Wilder is the hometown star player.
Both Hannah and Greyson are fighting their own demons as they forge a friendship centered around helping each other and helping others.
Review: I’m a sucker for hockey romances and a hockey romance set in my city is icing on the cake!
Hannah and Greyson’s story was so sweet. They show up for each other over and over again, constantly picking each other up when things get tough.
I loved the dual POV of this book. It was interesting to read 2 characters who were both struggling with their mental health, especially when they struggled with different things. Hannah had a lot of self doubt and anxiety due to her father’s verbal abuse while growing up. Greyson had bouts of depression and panic attacks.
In spite of it all, both Hannah and Greyson make amazing growth and become each other’s light in the darkness.
I did find a couple continuity issues, but nothing that greatly affected the plot as a whole.
The entire Tampa Bay Hawks team are the sweetest group of guys. Making the perfect found family for both main characters.

Review: This book. This book had one of the most real and relatable representations of mental health I've read about in a while. I found myself hurting for the characters and rooting for them to push past their individual struggles.
I loved Greyson and Hannah so much, and their individual battles with their own mental health were depicted so well on the page I was constantly struck by how accurate it was. Obviously, mental health varies per person, but this was definitely a read that stuck with me.
It was nice seeing how they seemed to ground each other and find some sort of solace and reprieve in one another. It was definitely a read that will come to mind more often than not when thinking about the rep in the book.
This was definitely a more emotionally heavier read, but I appreciated the found family and the little hints of Abby and Tatum in there, too. I also loved how there wasn't a 3rd act conflict and that their struggles still persisted and didn't randomly get better, true to the nature of mental health.
Overall, it was a quick, memorable read demonstrating the real struggles that people face but also how they try and persist, how they try to keep going despite it.
Thank you Lindsey Saenz and Luna Literary for the ARC.
A not-so-typical sports romance with all the lovey doe t feels both sad and happy 💕🥹
I never thought I would feel a personal connection to all of the characters. I understand what they are going through between professional and personal life choices to make complicated decisions. Those decisions lead into relationships we make along the way. Watching the blossom of Grey and Hannah was so entertaining with first impression disasters and talking about their lives at home. They support each other and understand each other no matter what happens in the end.
I LOVED the mental health rep and how it played into a slow burn scenario. It flowed so well it kept me on my toes. When I thought it was going to be a third act breakup, BOOM they make it work in the end.
This is not your typical hockey romance! Sure there are bits and pieces of the game, injuries, love interest blah blah but we get to see a more behind the scenes romance. We see what trainings for the mind and relationships can be built within a sport. We get to see a “family” creation and flourish even though they are not blood.
My feet were kicking so much and I smiling like a fool.
I’m a sucker for a slow burn and a hockey romance, and this brought the best of both worlds!
Review: I loved this book. This is book 1 in the Wilder Brothers Series. This book follows Hannah and Greyson. Hannah a sports journalist and is covering the Tampa Bay Hawks this season. She meets Greyson who helps her plan this charity event for the youth. As they get to know each other they become each other's safe place. I loved the character development in this book. I really enjoyed the story. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Greyson and Hannah have been through some stuff in their past. I love the mental health representation in this book. I loved Hannah’s dog Harley.I loved the found family aspect for Hannah. I loved the groveling that Greyson does. They both needed to work on themselves before they could work together. It is light on the spice but the tension and chemistry make up for it.
Favorite Quote: “You are the light to my dark, the peace to my storm.
I’ll admit this story was alittle heavier than the books I normally read, with a lot of the plot line revolving around the two characters Greyson and Hannah’s mental health struggles. But it was so well written and their struggles factored into the story and their personalities so well that I found it to be a very enjoyable read. I did take more breaks than normal during reading but I found it was more to think about what I had read and how well it was done and the emotions it brought out.
Greyson is a professional hockey player and Hannah is the team’s journalist. Both have extremely hard pasts that they are working to overcome, and when they quite literally run into each other, they form a quick and lovely friendship, that continues to blossom when they realize they are both dealing with similar struggles. Their support for one another and the love story that begins between them is beautiful and emotional and I love how the author highlights that even with a HEA in play, their struggles aren’t magically going to be fixed and go away, they have to work together and separately to ensure their happiness stays that way.
The side characters are hilarious, especially the team boys and Abby. I’m extremely interested in Greys brother Tatum and his story.
Hannah had spent her whole life trying to get the acceptance of her abusive father. This lead her to push herself further in her career as a sports journalist. Even after his death, she didn’t stop pushing. This didn’t leave much room for her to have any sort of social life, so forget about a relationship. So surprise surprise when Hannah is covering the Tampa Bay Hawks and has the best run in with Greyson.
Greyson is sweet as sugar and is doing anything he can to spend time getting to know Hannah. But he has demons of his own. Dealing with depression, even with a great support system, he has an ex that completely ruined him and he is just getting his footing back. That doesn’t mean he can keep his distance though. When his ex doesn’t let go, it starts to be a slippery slope for Greyson again. And as collateral, Hannah as well.
I really enjoyed this book. It hit all your emotions - laughing, swooning, and even crying. The hardships they have to go through made my heart break just in time to be put back together again. I think the mental health aspects were don’t very tasteful and could be very eye opening and even supporting.
This closed-door, strangers-to-lovers hockey romance with found family and where he falls first (although she’s the one that literally falls in their meet-cute!) isn’t like any other sports romance I’ve read before: I was pleasantly surprised how the author focused on the “mental and emotional journeys of love and connection” with main characters Hannah and Greyson while still providing the “warmth and optimism” of a romance read. Each character (told in first person, dual PoV) struggled with their past and self-worth…how they faced and dealt with these issues individually and together was an emotional plot driver. To lighten the mood, I appreciated the spots of humor from the side characters and the cute pup, Harley. As expected with a romance, there is a HEA that provided all the happy feels and I just love the line “Life is good. Life is beautiful. Life is so much better on the other side of wild.” I applaud the author for a great debut. Thanks to the author and Luna Literary Management for an advanced copy to read and give my honest thoughts. 4.25 stars
I've read a lot of hockey romances, and at the start of this one, I wasn't really reading much that would allow me to really differentiate - the team was great, loved the bonds. But a journalist covering the team that needs help? Not entirely different of a plot line.
However, the mental health representation, the struggles that both the FMC AND the MMC experienced? Extremely well done and so very relatable. Hannah can hardly help her negative self talk, after all it's how she was raised and really all she knows. Greyson has a long history with depression, but begins having panic attacks and the support that they gave each other was just really beautifully well done. It felt real, it felt honest, and it felt vulnerable. I loved the therapy representation as well, especially how the MMC loved going to therapy as well for help.
Really loved all of the other characters as well and will look forward to reading about them in future books!
Thanks to Lindsey Saenz for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review!
One of my favorite books of 2025, by far! Hannah is the most beautiful and sassy redhead (reminds me of a bookstagrammer I know 😉) who is laser focused on her career. Insert Greyson Wilder, hockey heartthrob and gentle soul. I am as big of a hockey fan as youll find and I ADORED everything about this book. Lindsey writes with accuracy about hockey, relatable situations between the characters, friends and teammates, and represents mental health for both Greyson and Hannah and how the manage together.
My favorite part of all? NO PREGNANCY!!! My least favorite trope is surprise or accidental pregnancy, due to some trauma in my past. It is SO hard to find a HOCKEY romance, without a pregnancy and I CANNOT thank @authorlindseysaenz enough for creating an incredible story and most importantly, a story where I feel SAFE ❤️ Book 2 following Greysons brother, and Hannahs best friend, comes out July 22nd and I CANNOT wait! Make sure to give my girl Lindsey some love ! #theothersideofwild #lindseysaenz #hockeyromancerecs
