Chunichi’s California Connection 3 is a pulse-pounding tale that finds Jewel with a bun in the oven and a federal case pending against her!?Jewel climbed up the heap to become queen of the streets, diva of all divas. But now that she’s expecting a baby, she’s concerned about just one thing—giving her child a good life, away from the guns, the drugs and the lies. However, that also means a life away from the glitz and glam that Jewel still craves, and she’s not quite ready to give it all up…not until she’s back on top. Flat broke, and miles away from her fugitive baby daddy, Jewel will have to put every bit of her street savvy, as well as her sharp business skills, into action to gain back her place and her power.
Since the release of her 2004 debut novel A Gangster’s Girl, Essence Magazine best selling author Chunichi Knott has gone on to pen three additional best selling novels, Married To The Game, The Naked Truth and Return of A Gangster’s Girl. With more than a half of a million books in print and on the heels of her fifth novel, California Connection, Chunichi’s talent as a writer, combined with her consistent and successful track record speaks for itself. In addition to her hard work and relentless drive, Chunichi’s rise to the top of the literary world can easily be attributed to the fact that she has lived through the same fast lifestyle of sex, money, drugs, cars, and designer clothes, that she writes about in her books. The former quiet southern girl from Alabama had her life transformed when she moved to Virginia Beach in her late teens. Dubbed the Urban Diva of literature because of her striking beauty, Chunichi’s stunning looks and Scorpio sex appeal was evident since her teenage years. And she instantly became a magnet for attracting ballers who elevated her social status while introducing her to an intoxicating high-end lifestyle. That lifestyle transformed the sexy seductress into a gun toting Bonnie who was trained to fire. Chunichi’s fast paced lifestyle soon began to mimic that of a vixen and it included stints as a highly sought after local celebrity as well as her being the spoiled female darling of several NBA and NFL athletes. Consequently as Chunichi matured, she decided to make a change in the way she was living. Never forgetting her past but making sure to leave the fast life behind, Chunichi went on to pursue and attain her degree in Nursing, while simultaneously putting her real life experiences on paper. Now a reserved, mysterious beauty, the Urban Diva moves like anthrax, killing the literary scene with books that are sure to keep her on top of the major best seller’s list for years to come.
I enjoyed this book a lot but come on, how gullible and naïve does Jewel and Touch have to be to realize what's going on. I starting to hate them as much as I love their characters but as destructive as they are to each other you can still tell that there's love between the two. I can't believe Jewel fell for Misty's crap again. I was screaming at these characters in my head to have several seats and I truly wanted to throat punch all of them. However, as aggravated as Jewel and Touch have me at times. I have to admit that I still enjoy their characters. I can't wait for the next book because with an ending like this, there has to be another.
Now, Chunichi is a Great Author and I was Enjoying this series until Book #3!😒🙄 WTH happened?!?!😳 It was rushed and didn't make sense in certain areas, names were incorrect (Lexi was not Touch's "baby mama's" name in the 2 previous books).😲 Then Jewel became STUPID and like she didn't know Anything "about that life".....it was just Too ALLLLL over the place!😡 By the last book in the series, Touch was No longer considered a "Good Guy", who'd made mistakes but a Woman-beater and Novice in the streets......Everything he wasn't previously!😑 Overall, this seemed RUSHED and I Am Disappointed!!!🤨
These 3 books are pretty decent overall. Kind of fast how trusting and forgiving jewel is of different people even though they have burned her before. I never liked misty since the last book really so when she came around again i knew it was bull. Rico is nuts and touch is just all over the place with his life. You want to root for him but then he does something else stupid. Kind of like real life dudes you may know. I guess I just read these to pick up something different. I can't say I see myself in any of the characters but I see people I may have went to school with or worked with. The ending makes people want another one but I kind of figured she lied about an abortion. It probably would be if she did get shot she lost the baby and survives and then have to deal with all the consequences of everything.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THE WRITER MADE TOUCH DO A 360 ON JEWEL LIKE THAT! THEY WERE BEST FRIENDS WHO HAD NO PROBLEMS TALKING THINGS OUT & HAVING EACH OTHER'S BACKS IN TIMES OF TROUBLE, THEN TOUCH STARTED TALKING WITH HIS HANDS ON FEMALES.....WTF???????????!!!? I WASN'T AT ALL HAPPY OR SATISFIED WITH THIS INSTALLMENT!
Wow!!! That ending, though!🤬 Such a cliffhanger, and, that was the final book in that series, apparently! Come on. I really would like to listen to what happens with Jewel and Touch along with all the other ones with their shenigans!

I thought Jewel had learned her lesson. I didn't like the way the book ended. I knew Missy was a snake. I wish Jewel could have told Rico the truth from day one. This collection shows that it pays to be your true self no matter what the outcome may be.

This was a very quick read and I felt that it was just okay. This was my least favorite of the series because it felt very rushed, the whole baby thing was confusing, and I didn't care for the ending. I hope there will be a part four because I just can't see the series ending the way it did in this book.
I just discovered Chunichi a few days ago, and read all three books. I am hoping that there is a part four. The way it ended had me saying "what the hell" over and over. Like, I was slightly confused. It was rushed and I'm left with questions. Sigh...now what.
Not as great as the first two but it goes to show you need to keep your enemies closer than close. Still a great series. I'll certainly be checking out more books by Chunichi.
love chunichi. but i hate the way this story ended i waited sooo long for the part 3 and it was so stupid the way it ended seemed rushed to me. im hoping that theres a part 4
all three books were good but I couldn't deal with the end of this book to much was going on for this just for it to end their hope there's a part 4 coming
throughout this book, i kept thinking "what am i missing?" jewel kept referring to all that touch put her thru. but, the reader was never privy to it. as a reader, you need to see it not just hear it. this story was poorly executed. and of course there's another cliffhanger.
