It's difficult to know how to begin saying how much I love this book! The Teton series has been wonderful, but this last instalment is my favourite by far. A large part of the reason for that can be summed up in two words: Lucas Walker ;)
When I wrote reviews for both Teton Sunrise and Teton Splendor I notice that I said I was "a little bit in love" with Alex and Joseph. Well, I'm a lot in love with Lucas! In him Peggy Henderson has created, in my opinion, her most appealing male character. (He's even knocked Chase Russell from Yellowstone Redemption into second place in my heart, which has taken some doing.) Lucas is confident, bossy, cheeky, a bit arrogant and full of himself, a skilled mountain man and so much more. Oh, and he's gorgeous of course! What's not to love? However he has no intention of falling prey to the "affliction" he has seen his brother suffer from. He'll never let a woman capture his heart and tie him down.
From the first mention of her though we know that the "Ghost Woman" will be the one to win his heart and cause him to change his mind. As we meet and get to know her, we can see that she's Lucas' perfect match. Plenty of sparks fly between the two of them, and Peggy has written a beautifully intense and passionate romance that I know readers will love. As is to be expected though our hero and heroine go through many adventures together before they finally reach their happily ever after.
As always Peggy uses the beautiful and rugged wilderness setting to its full advantage. The landscape and the inhabitants (both human and animal) all make an appearance. Everything is crafted together to bring readers a wonderful story that you just won't want to put down.
There is only one bad thing that I can say about this book and that is that eventually you reach a page that says "THE END". This is doubly bad as it not only signals the end of this breathtaking story, but also the end of a wonderful series. The only thing for it is to go back to the beginning and start all over again.
