theo and sorrell have my entire fucking heart. definition of soulmates. genuinely one of my all time favorite couples. it takes a truly extraordinary author to take a trope i dislike and use it in such a clever way it makes me cry. multiple times.

this had so much drama but i ate it up. this is what i mean when i say i like the petty drama—not when it gets on my nerves or pisses me off, but where i’m confused and shook as hell and need to know more and i have something to get invested in (theo and sorrell’s backstory).

theo!!! this man, my god. the depths of his devotion. i cannot even. i believe for that him, the world starts and ends with sorrell and sorrell alone. he’s so sweet and dorky sometimes it’s so endearing 😭 literally all he’s ever seen is her. the way he’s always in her orbit. he’s such a keeper, and i simply adore him so much <3

“tell me that you’re in love with me, and we’ll be each other’s forever.”
“tell me that you’re in love with me… and we’ll never leave each other’s side.”
“tell me you’re in love with me, and i’ll risk death to find my way back to you.”

~ THESE ARE LITERALLY WEDDING VOWS IN MY EYES. the amount of love they have for each other and i have for them is unquantifiable.

the soft moments of theo holding sorrell and her letting him? tears were running down my cheeks. when we learnt the meaning of the title and what theo played in the auditorium that day and why sorrell was so consumed by it—my heart.

the one thing i didn’t like about this was that theo called sorrell “kid”. I MEAN?? they’re literally the same fucking age lmao what is up with you dude. it always took me out of the book when he did that. but otherwise i devoured this.

this was just so atmospheric and lush and chilling and i loved it. i will say, if you’re planning on reading it, don’t read spoilers beforehand—trust me, i always do this, but this is definitely one book you don’t wanna get spoiled for. and stick with it! it takes some time to get good, and you’ll probably be disoriented as hell when you first get into it, but it sucks you in after a bit.

For safety peeps, there is no op drama and no one else after they get together for the first time. If you can, I really recommend not reading too many spoilers (i know, shocking coming from me)

I guessed the twist before reading the book so it wasn't too shocking, but Theo was such a book boyfriend! Loved his devotion.
Sorry, no long review since I can't write shit when I love a book 🤷

This is a wtf did I just read kind of book…
This started off as an act of revenge, dead set on taking down the guy who was responsible for her best friends death, loving the way the story was unfolding only to be flipped upside down with a curveball and left reeling in its wake as the book led me down a path I didn’t expect or was prepared for, but loved it none the less.

I loved these two, especially Theo, he claimed my heart making me love his character unconditionally!

A soul mate who never gave up..

I don't know if it's just me but I didn't find this dark AT ALL 🤷‍♀️ not even slightly unless I'm just immune to dark reads now. Anyhooooo this is definitely one I recommend because it is unique, and it's so easy to fall in love with these two, and that curveball just makes this book that much more special..I can't wait for the next book!!

Are you kidding me!?!? I had no idea what this book was about, but I had some friends love it, so I finally picked it from. From the beginning I was so hooked on this story. Sorrell knows Theo killed her best friend, so she's been training to attend the same academy he goes to in order to kill him. She arrives at the secluded academy and the moment she meets him, she hates him. The tension is EVERRYYTHHINGGGGG and I was kept on my toes the whole time. But what I loved most about this book was just how desperate the love became by the end. I am a sucker for a hero so completely and hopelessly in love, and that was Theo.

This was such a unique romance that I literally couldn't put down and I need everyone to read it!!

“It was a requiem. Your requiem.”
He wrote me the song of my soul.

What.the.fuck
What the hell did I just read?

I'm at a loss of words. My ability to function? Out the damn window. My ability to form any coherent thoughts? Got on a plane and went to the Bahamas for a God damn vacation.

He’s a balm to my tattered soul, the medicine that makes me complete.

*breaths in deeply*

Callie, I'll be sending you my therapy bill, you don't get to walk away unscathed.

This story, this damn story was something else entirely. The writing? Epitome of perfection. Characters? *chefs kiss* The plot? Absolutely Mind fucking.

Lord have mercy, I am so fucked up.

This right here? My reaction whilst reading the book. But then again it happens everytime I read a Callie Hart book and truth? I love it.

She is the loveliest thing I’ve ever witnessed.

I absolutely adore Theo and Sorrell.
Their understanding and commitment to each other is woah, I can't even put it into words.

And Theo? Don't even get me started. That man is the type of man everyone needs in their life. His loyalty and patience when it comes to Sorrell is everything. How he stuck by Sorrell's side the entire damn time. Even when she loathed him, even when she didn't didn't know him.
He was right there.the.entire.time. Theo's love for Sorrell is so evident. Who even does that these days?

“Nothing can break you, Sorrell Voss.”

He's smitten. No wrong, they both are smitten.

Their humour and banter isn't lost on me. They just...click togeather. Perfectly. They understand eachother more than anything.

This story was written magnificently and so beautifully. No questions asked. Requiem is the definition of one true love. (Great. I sound like Shakespeare now)

Though the blurb did give off some bully-ish/academic rivals typa vibes. I honestly wouldn't consider it one and I also feel like it's not enemies to lovers but then it sort of is too but consider it one sided. You would definitely get me if you read it. And you have to.

Honestly, I'd recommend to go in this book completely blind, no spoilers no nothing just straight up dive in and trust me you'll love it.

Now as we speak, gonna go on a hunt for a man like Theodore Merchant.

Him calling her KID ruined this book for me. Lmao 😂 I just can’t it’s up there with MY PET.

I liked that we got a devoted guy at least cause those are unicorns 🦄 she was it for him and no one else changed his mind or swayed him.
I don’t know what to rate it cause I did skip thru a lot of this book.

This does have what I’m starting to get tired of in romance books so much drama I mean sooooo much but the ending it shit. We don’t get to see them happy 😊 that epilogue was not it.

2.5 ✨

lol the fact that this has over a 4 star rating is nuts, y’all are wild.

First off, the only likable character in this entire book was the principal lol. She was barely in the book but whenever she was she was quite funny.

I absolutely hated the female mc from the start. She started off the book by criticizing and shit talking other girls about their makeup and staring at herself in a mirror talking to herself about how hot she is and how she never noticed how good looking she was before then and blah blah blah. She then went off about how cool it was she had one blue and one green eye then multiple times in the book the author made a point to bring it up again in inner monologues to be sure were ✨well aware✨ they’re beautiful and she has no insecurities. She was absolute “pick me” girl supreme.

Then the male mc, was allegedly “the most popular guy in school” but also a loner with no friends. It just didn’t make any sense.

There were all these stupid traditions for senior year - one being 2 seniors having sex in front of everyone but it turns out they’re 20 while everyone else is minors? Ok gross. Tbh the whole high school experience felt like a wattpad story written by a teenage girl who wasn’t in with the popular crowd and tried to dream up what it would be like.

I read this book bc someone talked about how great and unpredictable the plot twist was. …. It was predictable, I knew what would happen by page 142? But okay.

This is supposed to be a dark romance, there’s nothing dark about it. Sometimes the 2 mcs would scream at eachother and walk away lol? But if the author thinks that’s a dark romance she should try picking up an Ashley jade book.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST: smut was cringy. 😵‍💫

That book literally took me forever to read. It wasn't the fault of the book though. Gotta thank surgery for that. It truly was so good, plot was captivating and the characters were amazing. Theo could write a book boyfriend 101 guide!

This book is going down as one of my top reads, ever. Move aside every hero ever, because Theo fucking Merchant is going to rock your fucking world.

Take your preconceived notions of this book and toss it to the side. This is not a bully romance. This is not enemies to lovers. This is not anything you've ever read before. This is purely two soul mates finding the path they were always meant to be on, and then fighting all odds to be together. Did I guess the twist before the halfway mark? Yes. If you read closely enough you'll be able to as well, but that doesn't take away the beauty of this book, and there's SO much of it.

Theo is so utterly devoted to Sorrell; honestly I don't think I've read of a hero who has loved his girl as much as he does. He has been put through literal hell (through no fault of Sorrell's) but he's stayed. He never once left her side, and was such a champion. Words can't adequately express just how much this man loves and how big his heart is, but just know you'll be missing out if you don't experience it for yourself.

And Sorrell? My God, I can't imagine all she went though..that girl is a fucking warrior too, and I'm so glad her and Theo got their happy ending.

I do wish the ending was a bit longer though..I know the book is just under 400 pages, but I felt the ending was a bit rushed. Don't get me wrong, I'm so glad things went the way they did, but with how much they both suffered, I wish we got more of them happy together. I'm hoping Callie will right an extended epilogue for them, or a novella some time in the future, because I need more!!

This book is still so beautiful and heartbreaking. Do yourselves a favor and don't pass on this one thinking it's the same bully romance we've been accustomed to. This stole my heart and soul and refused to give it back, and I'm not even mad at it!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions **

JAW? DROPPED. WIG? SNATCHED. BEST BOOK BOYFRIEND? FOUND. 👑👑🔥🔥🤯🤯🤯💕💕💕

I'll try my best not to spoil anything, because half the book relies on you being surprised with the turn of events. If you fear getting anything spoiled regardless, just know this book takes place in a boarding school somewhere near a forest, there's an enemies-to-lovers trope here and YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

First things first though: I don't know who wrote the blurb for this book, but they missed the vibe COMPLETELY with Theo's part. From the blurb he comes off as your typical bully from dark HS romances, which is NOT the case apart from their first encounter.

The first third of the book or so, I really disliked the dissonance around the heroine: she would think and plan to do one thing, but in reality act completely different and often times illogical considering the context we knew at the time. It made me frustrated, because there's nothing worse than following the story from the heroine's perspective and not being able to trust her because of her flakiness 😅

There was a time when we were given information pertaining to the hero that made my blood boil and almost prompted me to DNF. WAIT IT OUT! NOTHING IS WHAT IT SEEMS! ✌👌🙌

I have SO MUCH MORE to say about the book, but I don't want to spoil it for you! If you don't mind spoilers and want to get a better picture as to what this book is all about, DM me and we'll have a chat 😊😉

I'm not one of those readers who likes to be told to "go in blind" when reading a book. Well, I'm here to say that to experience this amazing book you do indeed need to...GO in blind. *I left off several shelves for this book, to avoid spoiling it.*

Requiem is one of the most original and powerful books I have read in a long time. Just when you think you have the plot figured out, another secret is revealed, and another twist is thrown. Theo and Sorrell's story will surprise you, it will break your heart, and it will make you believe in the power of true love. Prepare for an emotional roller coaster ride, some incredibly hot scenes and a good chance that Theo Merchant may steal your heart for good.

Callie Hart has once again shown why she continues to remain a one-click author for me.

Oh I have a lot to say. Buckle up because this is a long ride.

1. The nickname. God, how do ppl not find it weird? The mcs are both highschool students yet the nickname for the the fmc is 'Kid'!! How do you not find that repulsive? It sounds like the mmc is genuinely talking to a kid lmao. I cringed so hard when the mmc called her Kid in the middle of the deed.

- "𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝗞𝗶𝗱. 𝗜'𝗺 𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗼𝗸𝗮𝘆. 𝗦𝗵𝗵."
- "𝗗𝗼 𝗜 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗶𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗞𝗶𝗱?"
- "𝗦𝗵𝗵. 𝗜𝘁"𝘀 𝗼𝗸𝗮𝘆. 𝗜𝘁"𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗜'𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗞𝗶𝗱. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗻𝗼𝘄. 𝗜 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲."
- "𝗚𝗼𝗱, 𝗞𝗶𝗱."

Does these sound like something a guy would say to a girl in the middle of sex? To make things worse, the fmc was so horny she forgot about her 'mission' and gave in and had sex but soon after being satiated, she recalled her dead friend and kicked the mmc out. Ummm....what?

2. The first party scene. The one with Seb and Ashley having sex infront of all the students. I understand the author was spicing things up and even if it is disgusting, it didn't bother me that much since they're not the mcs. However, they're just highschool students so I find it hard to believe that highschool kids would go to that extent. Maybe it'd be a lot more believable if this was set in a college or university.

3. The auditorium scene in Chapter 10. That's just unrealistic. How can highschool students just jerk off in the auditorium with the teachers present?

5. I love strong fmcs who stand their ground and fight back. But Sorell was just bitchy. I mean yeah I get it, she had a tough life blah blah but Noelani was clearly very nice to her and Sorell kept pushing her away. I personally hate it when a character is mean to another without any reason. Plus, the most infuriating thing about her character is how she always jumps to conclusions. My blood was boiling everytime she didn't let Theo speak. Like girl would you let the man speak instead of finishing his sentence for him? Theo was such a great mmc. This may be the first time I ended up loving the mmc more than the fmc. The way he was so patient and cared for Sorell.....I could cry.😭😭

6. Sebastian may be the first side character I absolutely despised. Although, he became pretty tolerable towards the end, the way that guy talks is just disgusting.🤢

7. The ending. Gahh, I've read 2-3 books by this author and from what I've heard and read, she doesn't write good endings. I mean we didn't even get a closing scene between the couples or anything. Just the fmc reading a letter from her mom and just when I thought Theo was about to pop the question, 'THE END'. I mean yeah it's HEA but would it hurt to give us a proper epilogue?

I have to admit, I was quick to judge the book but ended up kinda loving it. The plot twist was INSANE and got me GOOD. I went into this book blind so I was genuinely shocked with all the plot twists I came across. My fingers are aching to give this a 5 star because I did have a good time reading this but the nickname bothered me so much including the stuff I mentioned above, so 4 stars seems more fitting.

OMG that cover!!!!!!!! It's even more beautiful on Paperback😍 I usually hate such covers, but this one is just HAWT😳

This was such a unique book that left me so utterly confused and bewildered at times, but the plot twist was really well done and the romance was sweet.

No OW or OM drama👍

📌 MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD❗❗❗❗❗❗This is more to remind me about what happened.

📌Please don't read if you don't want to ruin the plot for yourself!!!

The heroine thinks that the Hero killed her best friend, whereas in fact she was in an accident and lost her memory. The hero has been her (first) boyfriend for a couple of years and he is devoted to her throughout even though she didn't remember who she was. I hated how his friends would push him to fuck around with other people though...
Rachel, as well as 2 other 'personalities' are actually herself. She adopted different personalities for a few months as she had amnesia and could not remember who she was.

While I liked this book, I felt a bit disconnected from the romance even though the plot was great. It just lacked a certain 'something' which would make this a 5 star read for me. I didn't really like any of the side characters, which made a quite a big impact on how much I liked the book. You can't just like the hero and heroine, there's got to be some loveable characters sprinkled in somewhere...

Also, while I liked Theo, he still wasn't my favourite Hero🙈

"Do not look at me like you’re already in love with me, Theo Merchant. My heart can’t take you looking at me like that yet.”❤️

Wow I've never had to go through so many emotions reading a book. I was so close to DNFing it, I skimmed a lot in the beginning, angry...it seemed so cliché of a high-school bully romance, with a very hostile and aggressive heroine. Nothing was special about it, until half way when the plot kicked in, and we truly saw how beautiful and amazing the hero Theo was. Absolutely loved the second half of the book more.

"He’s a balm to my tattered soul, the medicine that makes me complete. And I am complete with him, I’m drawn to him so desperately that I can barely breathe when I’m around him.He is every beautiful and vital thing in the world for me. Without him, my soul is a cracked, shriveled thing that cannot exist."

I would have rated it 5 stars, except for the beginning of the book. But Theo owns my heart here ❤️

Rating 3.5 stars 🌟

"Tell me you’re in love with me, and I’ll risk death to find my way back to you,” I whisper.

Tell me you’re in love with me, and we’ll survive anything. Together.” His eyes shine, full of tears. “I’m in love with you,” he says.

sue me, u really liked ok? This looks like a book my daughter would like it, but after reading The Raleigh High trilogy from Callie Hart I kinda decided to read more of her books because I LOVED that trilogy. So here I am discovering her books …..

I know I am very easy to pleased when it comes to books but this one was out of my comfort zone because it wasn’t a Dark Romance…. I thought it was actually but stupid me didn’t even check anything before but I still REALLY liked.
This is an unexpected story, even though I did figure out what was happening, not the full scope of it and not how much was involved but I did figured the major plot. Even without the surprise I still enjoyed.
Theo is the most amazing boyfriend ever, what they both went through was terrible but how HE held the fort was everything.
I now have more books from Callie to explore and I hope to like them all.

***5 "A moment of madness!!!" stars***

"I hate him. I fucking despise him. I'm going to enjoy dismantling his life..."

This is not my first rodeo with Callie Hart, but God, this might be my most favorite book of hers!!!
Yes, if you will read the blurb, you are going to think that the theme is a common one, but the unexpected turns and twists in here was making this story unique and captivating!!!
Honestly, I have made so many assumptions while I was reading this book, and still Callie managed to surprise me and that's an extraordinary talent!!! Don't you think???
This was a very unique and beautiful story and it is better to step in it blindly!!!

"He is a curse and a plague, and I grow sicker at his hands every day."

In Toussaint Academy nothing is as it seems....
Sorell is determined to seek revenge for her best friend's death!!!
Theo needs to pay and Sorell will be the executioner!!!
So why does her heart sing every time that she is near him???
Theo is holding secrets that can destroy her, but won't she back down???
He might be talented, wealthy and gorgeous, but she will end him!!!

"Theo Merchant is going to bleed, and I won't stop bleeding him until there isn't a drop of blood left in his body."

Well, I'm not going to say anything more about this story!!!
The only sure thing is that this story is so much more than your brain can think and it definitely deserves your attention!!!
Sorell was a broken girl and she was trying to find the right foot in her life!!!
Theo wasn't what you would think he was and omg!!! This man had stolen a piece of my heart with his determination and patience!!!
These two were made for each other, but the road ahead of them was a long one and full of obstacles!!!

"What kind of insanity is this? How can I need him this way, after everything that he's done?"

I can not fully express to you how much I loved this book!!!
It surprised me in a good way!!!
It was a bully, enemies to lovers story, but at the same time, it was so much more than that!!!
And I am inviting you to enter this world and meet Sorell and Theo cause they have the ability to crawl under your skin and made you love them!!!

"I did the only thing I could think of. I followed. I went down to hell with you. I was never going to leave you there, in darkness, alone."

"I don’t want to lose myself. But if I do, then at least this way I’ll wake up in Theo Merchant’s arms."

4.5 ☆ | This book... WHAT THE F*CK DID I JUST READ? Callie Hart, you once again left me speechless. Everyone needs to pick up this book and go into it as blind as possible because NOTHING is what it seems.

check my bookstagram edit here :)!

I'm not saying much about the plot to avoid spoilers, but be prepared for a roller coaster of emotions. Plus these characters... chef's kiss. Sorrell Voss is a total queen, she has never done a bad thing in her life and if you have a bad thing to say about her I will fight you!! She's rude, cold and grumpy, but everything she does and thinks has a reason for you to discover. Definitely my second favorite Callie character after Carina.

And Theo Merchant... the sweetest enemy EVER. At first I didn't know what to make of him and why he enjoyed provoking Sorrell so much and making her second guess everything, but DAMN, this man? Totally boyfriend material.

I guess I'm obsessed with this story right now and there's nothing I can do about it. The only reason I'm not giving it a full 5 stars is because it was a bit difficult to get into it in the first 30% and the "kid" nickname.

AHHHH!!! Callie Hart has done it. I've read all her dark and delicious stories but Requiem may be her BEST one yet. It is truly one of the most AMAZING stories I have ever read! This story was sexy, mysterious, intense and so gripping. I sat enthralled and obsessed from page one! Sorelle and Theo were just MAGIC!

Without giving away any spoilers, Requiem will shock the hell out of you!! I sat OBSESSED with this story! Sorelle was strong, sassy and so assertive. She will take hold of your heart and never let go!! Likewise, Theo was just *chef's kiss*. Dominant, strong and an alphahole that will take your breath away! He was everything I love from a Callie Hart hero but SO MUCH MORE!! The secrets in this story are EXPLOSIVE! Get ready for the ride of your life! Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula ❤️

“Tell me you’re in love with me…”

4.5 stars!

Holy damn, Callie Hart! What a read! Dramatic, sexy, unexpected and beautifully romantic with a stunning twist, this book kept me absolutely captivated, desperate to see what was going to happen, and I loved it!

Sorrell Voss is heading to her senior year at an exclusive high school, and she’s on a mission of vengeance. She blames privileged Theo Merchant for the death of her best friend, and she’s determined to do whatever it takes to bring him down. But on her arrival at Toussaint Academy, she is stunned by her reaction to Theo. Not only is he absolutely gorgeous, but he seems to hate her on sight. That, and it seems that he knows more about her and her reasons for being there than he should.

It's an intriguing set up that just gets better and better as the story unfolds. I won’t give any details, because you need to go in blind and truly experience it, but it went in directions I wasn’t expecting, and though I guessed some elements of it, parts of this story just blew me away.

And while it’s happening, the sparks between Sorrell and Theo are flying! What begins as hatred quickly morphs into an attraction, and then so much more. The chemistry is intense, and the connection between them is deep and profound. It’s sweet, emotional and heartfelt and I could feel the shift between them as everything changes.

I’m overwhelmed, so brought to my knees, confused by the sheer power of this thing between us, that I can’t for one second comprehend how the hell I’m going to handle the sheer magnitude of us.

This may be a YA book, but it’s VERY mature YA, and the sexy time absolutely sizzles off the page. But more than just their obvious sexual connection is the depth of emotion between them, the way they are with each other, the way they open up to each other, and the palpable connection that binds them so completely.

This is not your usual romance. It’s not a bully romance, it’s not even an enemies-to-lovers romance. It’s something that can’t be pigeon-holed into a genre, and this love story absolutely owned my heart. It’s dramatic and emotional, but there’s also a wonderful sense of playfulness, and all of I is just gorgeous.

“Do not look at me like you’re already in love with me, Theo Merchant. My heart can’t take you looking at me like that yet … I need some time to prepare before I can handle you looking at me like that.”
I pepper her forehead, and her temples, and her cheekbones with slow, lazy, feather-light kisses. “All right. Fine. I’ll stop. But let me know when you’re ready for it, Voss. ‘Cause I’m so gonna be waiting.”

Theo Merchant. Holy wow, what a romantic hero! The way he loves Sorrell, the way he is there for her, fights for her and how utterly, blissfully lovestruck he is, absolutely stole my heart. He completely swept me off my feet, and I swooned so freaking hard over him.

“I said I’d wait until you were ready for me to love you, kid. I tried to stop myself, but I’m embarrassed by how hard I failed.”

The blend of drama, emotion, mystery, intrigue and yes, even a bit of fun, is beautifully written, all in a way that enhances the romance. All of the different elements of the story combine to create an intriguing, emotional story that drew me in deeper and deeper, with an unforgettable love story that I happily lost myself in, and I cherished every moment of Sorrell and Theo together.

“This feels like coming home,”
“You are home.
My home.”

Love this one - 4.5 stars

I went into this one with low expectations. I loooove the Blood and Roses series but I’ve struggled with Callie’s other books in the past. I was glad that I didn’t go into this one expecting to love it.

My issues were pretty simple, I never connected to the story or the h. I think because of how confusing the beginning is, we don’t get a good introduction, we’re just sort of thrown in because of the plot. We eventually understand everything but not until the end and honestly the stuff with the school was a bit too silly and far fetched for me. I was majorly rolling my eyes.

I loved the H. He was great and his pain was palpable and so visceral on page. I really disliked the h. In the end we get why she is the way she is but she comes in the story with a major chip on her shoulder and just way too aggressive for me. She has her reasons but for me I just found her unlikable, and even in the end felt like she was extremely selfish and self centered.

I wanted to loved the romance but most is just told to us through past scenes or dialogue. We really didn’t get shown much. It was forced. They were hot together in bed though. So yay?!? They have some great scenes together but there’s so much going on in the story and the delivery is rushed and wordy that those scenes are few and far between. I just wanted to believe in the epicness that was supposed to be them.

Overall It just didn’t work for me and I was bored though most of it. This storyline is one that I typically don’t enjoy though so I’m a pretty harsh critic. Take what I say with a grain of salt because I have pretty strong personal preferences.

Sorrell Voss wants revenge for the death of her best friend and the rich boy responsible is in her sights. Little does Sorrell know that Theo Marchant knows more than she could have ever bargained for, and not everything is as it seems.

Requiem may be set at Toussaint Academy, but do not get confused and think this book is YA--it’s a twisty mystery with very adult themes. It did take me about 20%ish to really get hooked into Sorrell and Theo’s story, but once it picked up I was a goner. Their story is angsty and full of heartache, but Theo has officially been added to the book boyfriend roster.

I highly recommend going into this completely blind the way I did!

Sorrell Voss wants revenge on Theo Merchant. Joining Toussaint Academy is where she plans on doing it but Theo is on to her. Is he really who she thinks he is or does Theo know something that will change her perspective? This is a dark mystery however, as they are teenagers in prep school it does have a high-school/teen drama feel within the first half of the book. The themes are not for a YA reader though and have more adult scenes so be warned. This was a little slow in parts for me but it does pick up especially when the pieces of the puzzle started to fall together. I really enjoyed the scenes between Sorrell & Theo together. Even though I did guess a little of what was happening before the halfway point, the story still is a clever one with quite a twist. Strap in and get ready for one wow of a romantic mystery and a beautiful story set within! Told in both past/present and dual POV
