Last Christmas, she gave her ex her heart, but the very next day, he gave it away. This year, to save herself from tears, she'll give it to the three mafia capos she's snowed in with.
Emilia Pietri loves her quiet but lonely life in the mountains of Sant Evisa, working as a hotel clerk in her hometown. When a fierce snowstorm threatens to trap her Christmas guests, they're swiftly evacuated.
Alone in the eerily empty hotel, she never expected Stefano, the one that got away, to walk back into her life. After twelve years apart, he’s back in town on a dangerous mission with his two best friends, Matteo and Battista.
Snowed in together, an old flame reignites and new desires are brought to the surface. But as passion flares, Stefano faces a choice—can he share the only woman he's ever truly loved, or will this second chance slip away?
Author's Bullets & Mistletoe is intended for a mature audience. It is a snowed-in romance where the female main character does not choose between multiple love interests. Expect limited plot and low angst. Everyone gets their HEA. For trigger and content warnings, refer to the first page of the book.
C.J. Lucci is a passionate queer storyteller who writes romance for those who want to explore their desires and reclaim their power through swoon-worthy and morally ambiguous characters. From darkness to light, C.J. loves to offer options for readers to discover what titillate their brain, whether it’s queer romance, a new trope you didn’t even know you liked, a new kink, or a new take on mafia romance with women at the helm for once.
Having roots in Corsica, it was only natural for her to pay tribute to the Isle of Beauty through her writing. When she is not writing, she enjoys yoga, long hikes with her partner and drinking coffee.
Three guys, Stefano, Matteu and Battista arrive at a hotel searching for their victim on behalf of their boss. What Stefano didn’t expect was to see his long lost love managing the place. A storm hits and the four are confined within the hotel, but all is not lost as Battista kisses her. Emilia instantly feels connected but scared of her feeling as she still loves Stefano. From here their relationships build together. The guys still get their quarry.
What to say about this book.... It was ok. I think I struggled because the entire plot and set up was mostly just so she could get pinned by three dudes. Which is fine, it's a why choose, but overall the writing and story just kind of fell flat for me. The spice was good. As a full spice book, if you are looking for something that quickly sets up those scenes and tries to make it feel like there is more to the story, it's pretty decent. The underlying plot did make it feel like there was or would be more to it, but it just never really hit. It just all kind of flowed oddly and then everyone was in eachother lol.
The background story to Em and Stephano clearly was a sweet young love type of trope that then gets rekindled when him and his band of mafia brothers wander into her hotel looking for a mark. Which they totally lose focus on once they come across her.... literally. Of corse the snow storm traps them all, so they have a good reason to lay low. They spend all their time together playing house and playing with eachother. There are a few conversations that happen with inner monologs but overall there just isn't much that goes in until the very end when some action starts happening, but even that is lack luster and over so fast I was kind of bummed.
It was an "Eh" book for me. If you are looking for just spice, with the pretending idea you are reading more lol, this is a good one. The guys are likeable enough but there isn't a lot of heavy personality traits to fall in love with. Not the best.
Thank you to CJ Lucci for sending me the eARC for this one 🤍
(as always, it’s my own thoughts and feelings)
As someone who very infrequently reads Why Choose, I’m always a little unsure how I’m going to feel about the dynamics. Which is why you can always win me over with a novella. The expectation is laid out from the get go that things are gonna be quick paced (since we’re working with limited pages), and honestly that is just fine with me.
I always appreciate when there’s a history behind the relationship already, so the fact that Stefano and Emilia had been together in their youth laid a foundation to help things feel a little less unfounded. I loved seeing the connection between them all, and the exploration of their feelings and desires in a safe space (snow storm aside). The mention of the Moretti empire has once again affirmed my desire to read the OG Isle of Seduction books.
One thing that I find truly hilarious though is that I still cannot fathom the way group scenes work. Like I get the body parts and the mechanism of actions, but I still cannot compute what’s happening. But it’s fun either way, so no harm done.
Definitely give this a read when it releases for some fun and smutty Christmas vibes.
I decided to do a little mafia book war to pick my next read, and the algorithm delivered Bullets & Mistletoe by C.J. Lucci and I immediately tossed my entire mafia bracket from my existing TBR.
I’m just a book girl?! Mafia why choose CHRISTMAS?! Say less.
Stefano, Batista, and Matteu are on the hunt and wind up snowed in at the inn run by Emilia, Stefano’s first love. Emilia quickly realizes that their chemistry is still strong, and Batista and Matteu are a gorgeous couple. When Emilia and Batista find their attraction growing too, they decide to find out how well they can all play.
HOLY SNOWBALLS I LOVED THIS.
Yum yum yum I love when they all share. When they don’t mind getting messy. No jealousy. Add some touch her and be unalived and you have a good time if you ask me.
Part of me blames myself. What did I think was going to happen? The title promised bullets and mistletoe, but this was more like a light dusting of Christmas with zero ammunition in sight. Definitely not my style…I like my holiday reads overflowing with festive magic, not just a calendar backdrop. And the extra curricular activities here were…let’s say extravagant.
For readers craving super spicy mafia drama with a hint of Christmas… well, maybe lower your expectations for the “Christmas” part.
What happens when you’re snowed in at an empty hotel with not one, but three dangerously attractive mafia capos—one of whom happens to be your childhood love?
Emilia Pietri is about to find out. Bullets & Mistletoe packed with spice, snowy romance, and second chances.
🔥The Breakdown…..
🎄Tropes Galore: Snowed-in, second chance, why choose (MMFM), and mafia romance vibes.
🎄Length: A quick, spicy escape perfect for a cozy night in by the fire.
🎄HEA: Everyone’s unwrapping their happily-ever-after under the Christmas tree. 🎁
🖤Stefano: brooding, protective, and haunted by the past. His reunion with Emilia is nothing short of electric: “For the first time since we were seventeen, I hold the love of my life in my arms, and nothing has felt more right in this world.” 😭
🖤Battista: the charming troublemaker with a silver tongue (literally). His flirty banter is everything: “Battista’s kisses are like discovering a new place and falling in love with it for the first time. It’s intense and charged. It’s consuming and thrilling.”
🖤Matteu: stoic but simmering with intensity. He’s all about keeping Emilia safe, no matter what it takes: “What did I tell you about topping from the bottom, little bird? Don’t make me ask again. Use your words.”
This novella delivers everything you want in a festive mafia romance—passion, drama, and a whole lot of heat. Perfect for fans of quick, spicy reads that pack an emotional punch!
I absolutely loved this short story set in C.J. Lucci’s mafia world and the Moretti empire. Novellas aren’t always my thing, but this one worked perfectly for me. Stefano and Emilia’s shared history made the story feel deeper and more meaningful. They’ve been separated for years, torn apart by her parents, but neither of them ever let go of their feelings. The tension and chemistry between them are off the charts.
The side characters add an extra layer to the story. Stefano is joined by his best friends, Battista and Matteu, who are in a relationship themselves. Emilia immediately clicks with Battista, and their dynamic is playful and warm. What follows are a few intense, passion-filled days where Emilia lets herself fully embrace this unconventional connection. Stefano, Battista, and Matteu aren’t ready to let her go, which makes the story even more gripping.
While the novella is great, I wish it had been longer. There was so much potential to explore the development of their relationship further. I wanted to see more of Stefano and Matteu’s bi-awakenings, along with their thoughts and how it impacted their bond. It would’ve been amazing to dive deeper into the evolving dynamics between all four characters.
Bullets & Mistletoe is a steamy and emotional novella that combines romance, tension, and passion perfectly. Fans of mafia romance or C.J. Lucci’s Moretti universe will love it. While I wish it had been longer, it still hit all the right notes and left me wanting more.
Review : I absolutely loved this book. It was the perfect little smutty palate cleanser that I needed. It’s a short quick read, but even then CJ was able to layer in a depth to the relationships that I really enjoyed. Given the close friendship between Matteu, Battista and Stefano, the strong relationship between Matteu and Battista (holy fuck they were hot too), and the history between Stefano and Emilia everything about their dynamics felt real and believable. And don’t let the mafia romance fool you, they might be bad men but they are simps for their girl. There is a small plot but this is mostly about the smut and I was fucking here for it. It was hot and absolutely delicious I was sweating 🔥🔥 I highly recommend this book. It was a spinoff of her main mafia romance - The Moretti Chronicles - that I am working my way through as well, and I’m loving that.
I’ll come back with a full review, but I ate this shit up so damn fast. It was swoon worthy with the emotions and I am SWEATING from the smut. Lord have mercy.
“I don't care who I have to hurt to make you feel safe."
* Why choose MMMF with MM * Mafia / dark romance vibes * Christmas * Kinky * Novella (short quickie) * Second chance (childhood sweethearts) * Snowed in * Sub/dom/brat dynamic
Stefano and Emilia’s second chance 🥺 Matteu and Battista’ dynamic 🫠
This was such a cute, cosy, and filthy spicy Christmas novella!! I was so hooked on all of the dynamics, how each coupling and then the overall poly cluster was so…unique in their own way. It’s hard to make that come across in a full why choose novel let alone in under 200pages. Well written, woke, and raw in emotion while being very spicy.
"I finally found God, and it turns out, She was hiding in the mountains all this time."
One 🌟 loss due to my own preference regarding spit play, but if you’re into that then you’ll love this!
Mafia holiday romance, but make it why choose! This was such a short, entertaining, and slightly suspenseful read! Of course, with the mafia involved, you expect some criminal activity, but honestly, that wasn’t the focus here. Instead, the spotlight was on the dynamic between the characters, and let me tell you, it was absolute perfection!
The mix of tropes was everything: long-lost love, snowed in with three mafia men, and a spicy FMC who totally flipped the script. She was calm and polite on the surface, but around these guys? Complete goodness. And those mafia men? While they had their edge, they turned into almost-cinnamon buns when it came to her. Sweet, protective, and utterly swoon-worthy - it was such a fun contrast to their mafia personas. This book was the good blend of romance, spice, and holiday vibes.
”On instinct, I swipe the lone tear threatening to fall down her cheek with my thumb and lick my finger clean.”
a short little christmas mafia novella that i didn’t know i needed. a lot of spice and you mostly get Emilia’s backstory.
”Her presence calms Stefano and stimulates Battista, even after such a short amount of time. As for me—she makes me want to protect her, to see her thrive.”
”You can pretend we’re good men if it makes you feel better, love. But we’re not, and I don’t care who I have to hurt to make you feel safe.”
MMFM 29 fmc / 29 mmc / 28 mmc / 28 mmc second chance romance MF / MMFM / MMMF scenes snowballing DP bi-awakening no virgins epilogue HEA ♡
Mafia romance meets holiday romance into this wonderful novella. I crushed this novella in less than 24 hours. If you’ve read any other of CJ Lucci’s book, this is set in the Morietti universe.
What happens when a snow storm shuts down the town and the hotel clerk and 3 men are stuck together? Emilia and Stefano have a history together and Matteau and Battista are instantly drawn to her. The spice and connection portrayed in this novella are top notch. It’s very much an insta love moment for part of this group, but it works so well. I also loved that there was a decent amount of plot for a novella.
Definitely check this out if you are looking for a darker holiday read.
If you are looking for a spicy why choose holiday romance novella look no further! I absolutely ate this up 👏🏼👏🏼 Three mafia men on a job, returning to their hometown, and end up snowed in at the local inn with the leaders lost love. Things get hot very quickly 🥵🔥. 3 best friends who are more like brothers, two are boyfriends, and all end up snowed in with the others teenage love who he’s been pining for all this time. They all find themselves drawn to Emilia and ready to satisfy her every desire. This was hot and cozy, with a touch of mafia vibes, a sprinkle of holiday traditions and lots of steamy scenes. This is a quick read that had me hooked from the very beginning. I really hope to see more of these characters!
This had so many things to love. I mean, the set up was there – mafia men who met in prison and now work for a powerful female mafia leader. They are snowed in at a hotel in search for their target and end up finding Stefano’s long-lost first love. It’s MMFM and so a lot of things transpire in this hotel, along with some good old fashioned mafia business. In the end, I just didn’t connect with Stefano, Battista, Mateo and Emilia. It was ok, but it didn’t stand out. It didn’t feel like Christmas, which is why I picked it up to begin with. This one just didn’t hit like any of the other fun, holiday novellas I have been consuming at a rapid pace this month.
Rating – three stars (low) Format – kindle unlimited
This book is a steamy second-chance romance set in a snowy, remote town, where Emilia is unexpectedly reunited with her first love, Stefano, and his two best friends, Matteo and Battista, during a snowstorm.
As the trio and Emilia are snowed in together, old flames rekindle and new desires emerge, leading to a passionate and intense “why choose” romance.
While the story’s shorter length means the relationship develops quickly, the chemistry between the characters and the holiday setting creates an engaging, emotionally satisfying read.
Perfect for fans of protective heroes and steamy romance, this novella is a thrilling, heartwarming holiday escape.
I can't pinpoint what about this I hated, but yeah…I hated it. I hated the smut before it even happened and I physically couldn't hold back the faces I was making. It wasn't exactly cringe, but like, it felt like a realllyyyy bad, clichéd porno (& not in a cool way, if there even is one). I love why choose, but this felt unnecessary. She only had chemistry with one of them and he seemed sexually confused (which is fine, but why not explore that?). Anywho... I'm glad if you liked it, but personally, I considered DNFing several times and skipped the epilogue entirely.
“Bullets & Mistletoe” was such a fun surprise. I absolutely loved this little Christmas novella.
It’s a dark why-choose romance between Emilia and three mafia men, but even with the darker themes, it sits on the lighter, more playful side of dark romance.
What really won me over was the cute found-family vibe woven through the story. The dynamics were sweet, the chemistry was great, and it delivered that perfect mix of festive, steamy, and heartwarming.
A perfect quick holiday read with a touch of danger and a whole lot of charm.
Oh this was a lot of fun to read. The holiday smut was fantastic. I’m not sure who I was jealous of more. The dynamic between Battista and Matteu was so lovely. Thw shower scene was my favorite with them two. Stanafo and Emilia’s relationship was so beautiful. First love finding each other again is always beautiful. Add two other very sexy men and it’s a dream come true. This has everything you could ask for. Witty (and bratty) humor, mafia vibes, MM, MF, MFMM, MMFM, and a little dose of danger. I really enjoyed this one.
