i was so excited for this. like so excited. i’ve been waiting for this since book 3 dropped and even reread the whole series to prep, so the anticipation was definitely there. and for the most part, this was a good finale. the actual ending especially felt like the right kind of closure. but something about this just felt… different. and i can’t tell if it’s the book or if it’s me.
i think the biggest thing is that i didn’t feel as emotionally invested. there were moments that hit—there were parts i loved—but overall it didn’t give me the same experience the earlier books did. even the 200+ pages of her reuniting with the guys felt kinda nonchalant?? like they’re together again (which i obviously love), but the way it all played out didn’t feel as intense or rewarding as i expected. maybe that’s just on me, but i really thought those reunions would feel bigger.
and maybe it’s because the pacing’s so fast. the plot picks up right after that ending in book 3, which i was thrilled about, but then it just keeps going. her waking up in syntyche’s temple? her figuring out what happened in paradise? her finding the guys? it all moves so quickly. and the curses returning worse than before should’ve felt huge, but it didn’t land as hard as i expected. i think i assumed everything would be okay since it’s the last book, and that kinda took away the tension.
but then there are scenes that do hit. the fake trial chapter? amazing. the ghosts helping, the ravens pecking eyes out, her pulling the “i’m death’s daughter” card before killing everyone? yeah, that was so cool. baelfire saving everett. crypt saving baelfire. the quintet dynamic finally feeling whole again. that kinda stuff was so satisfying. and i’m really glad we got the guys back early on—spreading that out would’ve made the whole book unbearable.
some things did feel a little underwhelming though. like bertram dying off-page?? crypt just kills him and that’s it? after how important he was at the end of book 3, i thought that would be more of a moment. and amadeus’s death felt way too fast for a villain we’ve been hyping up for four books. i literally thought it was a trick because it happened so quickly.
character-wise though? i loved all the characters. this really felt like everett’s book. he’s always felt a little on the sidelines in the past, but this book really gave him depth. crypt and silas are still my favorites—they’ve been perfect since book one. baelfire’s definitely changed the most, but i still really like him. and honestly it’s rare for me to like all the main characters, so that says a lot. maven did annoy me a little here and there (last book especially), but she’s still one of my favorite fmc’s. i love how she handles power. how she snaps and owns it. how she commands ghosts like it’s second nature. like yeah, she’s her.
also the epilogue?? so cute. it was such a nice closing moment for everyone.
i think maybe this book was just too fast for me. or maybe i expected too much. i don’t know. but even if i didn’t connect with it the way i hoped, i still really liked it. this whole series has been such a good time, and i’m genuinely sad it’s over. bittersweet finale, but a good one.

“Let my wretched soul haunt you and hate me if that’s easier, but please just keep me.”
This series started a bit slow for me, but by the last book I was thoroughly invested. It’s clear the author got more confident in her writing as the series went on. She’s also a good storyteller. This is easily the best book in the series for me (followed closely by book 3). I really like the pacing of this whole series. It didn’t end with me wanting more or feeling like things were dragged out. Four books was the perfect amount for this story.
I really like Maven. I’m always here for a badass fmc, especially in a RH where it’s easy to take a back seat to the guys. I love that Maven was always running the show and I liked the dynamic she had with each member of her quintet. She also has some great one liners and her dark sense of humor spoke to my spirit. I started off this series being much more invested in the overall story rather than the characters, but by the end, both were entertaining me. I finally developed a favorite guy, which was hands down Crypt. I loved how his dark matched Maven’s so well.
This book wraps up fairly neatly with a HEA. I can see some people being annoyed by this, considering the constant peril everyone has been in (and tbh, I’m usually people), but it works in this series. The vibes are just vibing. If you’re like me and love a good paranormal RH, I think you’ll enjoy this series.

Unfortunately, I was entirely checked out as soon as the quintet was reunited and rebonded. It took grudging effort to get through the rest of the book.

i was just getting tired of this series. i didn't want to dnf it.. but i wanted the book to be over :') i think if i didn't read these books so slowly it would've hit better!!! but i got bored by the end

As with the last book, I felt like this could have been a bit shorter. Especially around the middle, it felt like it was dragging. That being said, the ending was sooo satisfying. I was kind of able to guess what would happen, but there were enough extra twists that I was still surprised at parts.

І точно книги потрапляють в улюблене і будуть на перечиті.
Це дарк роментезі з оберненим гаремом🔥 Тут кров-кишки, багато крові🙈страждання героїв в минулому (та й в теперішньому🥺) і багато гарячих потрахух😈. І ще величезний плюс - нема тропу від ненависті до кохання💪🏼 ненавиджу його, а він майже скрізь зараз😁
Які ж тут герої, матінко рідна🫠
Мейвен - ну багіня🔥 обожнюю такий типаж в книгах. Дасть піздюлін кому завгодно з покер фейсом😁 минуле її це жесть, але саме воно зробило її такою офігезною🥹 і головна ізюмка - її характер і «відсутність» емоцій. А як вона морозилась від квінтету це окрема насолода була😁 бо героїв нічим не відлякаєш🤩
Крипт🥹 улюбленець. От завжди самий психопатичний «поганець» в улюбленцях. Його захоплення Мейвен, слова і думки - в саме сердечко🥹
Еверетт - ця соромʼязлива сніжинка на початку і яким він став😈🔥
Белфайр - чого перевертні в гаремах завжди самі гуморні і бусінки?😁 Цей дракоша такий няшечка збочений🫶🏻

This was a really nice ending to a great story! This book had me laughing and crying all throughout.
The ending was really well done and I love that we got to witness the HEA 🥹
One of my favourite things was seeing the relationship between the guys. Their banter was phenomenal and had me dying of laughter 😂
My only complaint and why this didn’t get a higher rating was because it was SO long.. way too long. Too much was going on, and I feel like it easily could have been a 3 book series.
But other than that, I loved it! The boys were all incredible and I love them so much! 🫠
She’s not allowed to choose a favourite, but I sure a hell can, so this is my final order:
1- Crypt 💤: That man is an absolute asshole to everyone else, but is fiercely obsessed with her, and that’s hot 😅 Plus he had an incredible sense of humour, and was actually a secret softy with everything he did for everyone, so he’s the perfect man 🤷🏻♀️
2- Baelfire 🐉: The golden retriever types are usually lower on my list, but I love this man! His top priorities are feeding and pleasuring her?! Ummmm…. Yes please! And he’s such a ray of sunshine while also being fkn hilarious, so sign me up!
3- Everette ❄️: Bless his heart! This poor baby was traumatized his whole life and watching him finally accept a life with her was so cute! You could see how much he loved her and how scared he was of losing her again 😭
4- Silas 🩸: I liked him well enough, but he honestly didn’t do much for me 😅. He was batshit crazy for most of the series and didn’t allow me to feel as connected to the character I guess. I just enjoyed her connection with the other more.

This series was AMAZING and I was so impressed with this finale. From the beginning, we have the heroine finding her way back to her heroes, who are all so broken from the ending of the previous book. The way they are so loyal and just in love with her was everything, and I loved seeing our strong and touch-averse heroine fall so hard for the heroes too. The plot was so action packed and I loved the final showdown with our main characters and the villain. I was kept on my toes the entire time, especially as the holes in the heroine's memory from when she was gone are slowly filling is as we go along. One of my all-time favorite why choose series and I couldn't recommend it enough!

what a satisfying ending to the series. you get scenes of Maven being a badass and being unapologetically herself and hilarious. this book had me laughing at different moments but also STRESSED OUT bc of Crypt and his curse. the pacing and spice were done well to lead up to them facing Amadeus.

Okay, so Divine Fate was the big finale and honestly? It gave me exactly the mix of chaos, heartbreak, and payoffs I wanted. Maven finally comes back from her little god-level detour, and watching her reconnect with Silas, Everett, Baelfire, and Crypt was messy in the best way. Each guy finally got more layers—Silas is still ride-or-die (sometimes terrifyingly so), Everett is the calm in the storm, Baelfire is all fire and fragile underneath, and Crypt is… well, Crypt, intense and obsessive in a way that makes you both swoon and worry.
The stakes are bigger here—magic breaking down, gods pulling strings, everyone basically running on borrowed time—and it actually felt like the whole world could collapse if Maven screwed up. I loved that mix of huge battles and quiet moments, especially when Maven let herself actually lean on her guys instead of pushing them away every other page. Those little vulnerable beats hit harder because we know how far she’s come.
That said, it wasn’t perfect. Maven’s guilt trip circles back a lot (“I have to fix everything, I’ll ruin them, blah blah”), and some of the big action scenes were kind of chaotic—I had to stop a couple times to figure out who hit who with what. And the goddess vs mortal world stuff? Super cool concept, but it got rushed at the end when I wanted a little more breathing room.

What an ending.
They wrapped up things that I didn't even think of wanting a happy ending for. Like, without spoiling anything; I love what the academy became. I didn't even think of Maven fighting for that. Or Crypt honestly, haha I feel a little bad I forgot about him towards the end because I was more concerned about us facing off with fake-daddy.
The epilogue was a little long, but when Maven gave her gifts that brought tears to my eyes and that was a perfect ending. I also wasn't expecting to cry twice during the last few chapters. Sure, this book pulled on my heartstrings, but I definitely didn't expect to full-on shed tears at my work desk.
I'm very, very glad for kindle unlimited because I don't think I would have picked this up otherwise, and this is a gem. This series is why I read. I love when I can just fall into the world, and I think about the characters outside of reading. That's when I know I'm obsessed.

Okay this is my last book review for April and what a way to go out … Divine Fate was an absolute chef’s kiss of a story. It’s book four in the series and the finale did NOT disappoint. From page one it was all go … no dragging things out, no “will they, won’t they” for 300 pages. Maven and her men find their way back to each other early on, which means we get actual time with them as a unit … and I loved every second of it.
The pacing? Immaculate. The plot? Delivered. Her blood oath? Handled so well. Honestly, Maven is a smart, badass heroine and this was such a satisfying conclusion. I closed the book and just sat there like YES. This is how you end a series.

Divine Fate was a ride—and I needed a moment to let that ending simmer before putting my thoughts into words. Now that it has... I actually think the ending was really satisfying. It felt very them—the exchange of personal gifts that tied back to moments in the story was such a sweet and fitting touch.
That said, there were a few things I wish had been fleshed out more. Why was the Hunter blessed by Arati? What is Amadeus' full backstory? I had questions, and not all of them were answered. Also, I was genuinely stressed about Crypt literally dying and how everyone just brushed it off every time it came up.
This installment had a different vibe than the rest of the series—almost post-apocalyptic in tone, which worked surprisingly well after the way book three wrapped. I loved seeing how the events reshaped the rest of the Quintet too.
My only real complaint is about Silas—his character felt inconsistent across the series. Maybe that’s the point, given his mental state and curse, but even after breaking it, I couldn’t quite get a clear sense of who he truly was.
Still, this was a fun read and one I can totally see myself revisiting. Baelfire was definitely my favorite, with Crypt a very close second!

This wraps Maven's story up in a violently adventurous way. I enjoyed it, but had to skip over most of the intimate scenes, because they seemed rather excessive. But this is a reverse harem, so I should have anticipated all the fun beforehand. Regardless, this book suffers from series-itis, whereby I found myself struggling to remember certain details and characters since it's been a while since I read the previous books, and I was too lazy (and uninterested) in rereading them. And though Maven's character is negative and rather bitchy most of the time, she wasn't too bad after all, just cranky, and definitely needed 4 dudes to keep her occupied. ✌

✧ Review ✧
I thoroughly enjoyed each book in the series. It started very strong. The plot and mysteries were well thought out, and the characters each had their own distinct personalities, making them not only easy to tell apart but also stand out from typical RH characters. The author didn’t reinvent anything in terms of group dynamics or the men’s personalities, but they were all well-developed and executed. The guys worked together perfectly, shifting from reluctant allies trying to win over their girl to a real found-family group (even if none of them would admit it out loud lol).
That said, my biggest issue with the series is that the quality seemed to decline as it went on. Book 3 in particular felt very drawn out, and dare I say, even repetitive. By then, the author started making choices that felt too obviously directed by the plot, and the ending fell flat.
The final book was definitely an improvement, but for me, it lacked the spark and emotions of the first two. The vibe shifted a bit, which I actually liked because it felt new, but emotionally it didn’t quite hit. We spend about 150 to 200 pages watching Maven reunite with her guys and win them back, but I didn’t feel much. Despite all the time that had passed and the massive changes in their world, the characters still felt like exactly the same versions of themselves from earlier books. Sadly, the character growth just didn’t hit the way I wanted it to in the finale.
That said, there were still things I loved. Meeting Everett’s awful family,seeing Silas and Crypt’s friendship finally feel real, despite them never admitting it and I appreciated the way their other friends showed up for them even without Maven around. Baelfire, though, still feels a bit out of place. Like he belongs in theory, but not emotionally. He’s the least complicated when it comes to sharing his life with others, but weirdly, that makes him feel disconnected. If he weren’t there, I don’t think the group dynamic would change all that much.
As for Maven herself, she changed a lot, and I really liked both versions of her. The stabby girl from the beginning and the stabby-but-soft version at the end. Her growth felt natural. But once her main purpose was fulfilled, it felt like the plot started slipping away from her. I’m not sure if Book 4 was originally planned this way, or if things changed along the way, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of how the goddess arc was executed. I did, however, absolutely love her new powers. The ravens were such a good addition, although they weren't really explained or used much at first. Even the moment when Everett realizes he’d been sending away ravens that probably belonged to Maven felt more confusing than emotional. Because how? She wasn’t there and didn’t have those powers at that point, as far as we know. We could have spend some more time on such details.
Some other moments felt underwhelming too. Amadeus’s death was way too fast for a villain we’d been hyping up for four books and I think I'm really disappointed because that's what I see in way too many fantasy/romantasy/RH books. Like..... we spend BOOKS behind told how terrifying a character is just for him to die so easily? I know Maven and her guys are much stronger but he was made to look like he was invincible. ALSO. Can we talk about Bertram dying off-page? Crypt just kills him THAT EASILY, and that’s it? After how focused we were on him at the end of book 3 and then how often he's mentioned in book 4, I expected like... a real fight. If it was that easy fo Crypt to get rid of him, why didn't he do it in book 3? I'm so confused.
I liked the concept of the blood oath with the gods, even if I didn’t fully understand why it was necessary. It was obvious Maven would have gladly taken over the Nether if it meant reuniting with her guys. There wasn’t much need for an oath. And even the gods admit that curses are an outdated practice; so why did we need a blood oath for them to get rid of it ? It feels like the author wanted to add a mystery and drama but it failed. That said, I’ll give credit to the author; the true nature of the gods’ side of the oath wasn’t easy to guess before it got revealed.
The epilogue was cute. My guys deserved their happiness after everything. ♥
Conclusion:
I genuinely enjoyed this series, especially the first two books. They made me feel a lot!! The plot twists were sharp, and the slow-to-medium-burn romance pacing was just right with the right amount of tension. book 3 was a bit of a miss for me, and because of that, book 4 felt rushed. I would have preferred a longer final book with better pacing and more time spent explaining key events and character choices/growth. The stakes in book 4 didn’t quite land emotionally because everything moved too fast.
Still, I’ll remember this series fondly! My favorite character is still Silas but Everett in book 4 almost stole my heart! I'll keep an eye on this author's work hoping her next books/series are even better than the cursed legacies series!

With my whole heart I say I LOVED this series. I waited for the last 2 books to come out as a loyal reader. now I must say this series has made me cry, laugh, scream and have an almost heart attack at some points. I AM IN LOVE with the quintet and I feel like I'll always have them in my heart and whenever I miss them and their chaotic energy I'll be rereading the series. I'm so glad they had a happily ever after bc tbh they all deserve it.
