Green River Hearts #2

Honey Bee Hearts

Rate this book
Fable has never quite fit in anywhere she goes. She’s always been quirky, a special brand of weird only her best friend understands. After a tragic accident changes her life, she’s not sure how to move forward. When she receives an email with the chance of a lifetime, she seizes the opportunity, if only to escape the darkness.

Accepting an all-inclusive trip to the Circle Bee Ranch seems like a crazy idea, but it’s better than mulling over the past. Without time to question if it’s wise or not, she packs her bags and heads to Wyoming, hoping it can bring the peace she so desperately needs.

Rhett Thomas, the legacy.

Trent Coldiron, the mechanical expert.

Gunnar Hall, the barn manager.

Colt King, the dog handler.

Each of the four men of Circle Bee stirs something inside Fable that she’s never felt before, and she can’t quite figure out why. What’s worse, the peace she seeks isn’t here. Everyone has their secrets on the ranch and Fable may have just stumbled upon a hornet’s nest while searching for honey. A single sting can start a chain reaction. A whole nest can spell your death.

The past always lingers for those who run from it and those at Circle Bee aren’t immune. Fable doesn’t know where to go. She doesn’t know where she belongs. There’s only one thing she knows for certain.

Never trust a survivor. .

This was so freaking good. I read this cover to cover and then kind of wanted to turn back to page one and read it again.

I cried. Like so much. The prologue? Cried. Random parts through the middle? Cried. Ending? Cried. So yeah, prepare yourself because there will be tears.

I loved Fable so so much. It was impossible not to connect with her and become invested pretty much immediately. Even with all the crap she went through she was like this bright like in the book, and none of the guys could look away. I really liked getting to see through her chapters her decision to finally open herself up and heal rather than hold on to her past.

The boys. Okay, so Trent will forever have my heart. He must be protected at all costs. Does it need it? No. He must be anyway. Colt can just go jump off a bridge and that's all I'll say about that 😌. Rhett made me want to shove him off a bridge a few times but I finally came around to him and Gunnar was just sweet as heck.

The banter was 🤌🤌🤌. I was sitting in bed reading this because I couldn't put it down and I was actually giggling so much I woke my husband up lol. Oh and yeah the spice definitely spices 👀

Excuse me while this isn’t a proper review but a complete chaos ramble.
This series thus far has been *chef kiss* the humor of the characters, serious nature of the underlying danger aspects, and the smutty goodness within.
The prologue alone on this one starts with an epic world upheaval and even though we just met our leading lady you’re already emotionally invested.
Definitely check it out if you’re looking for great character banter, disability rep, why choose romance, sexy cowboys galore, small town, ranch life, silly animals, and a dash of suspense. Each book in the series CAN be read as a standalone as they follow a different ranch within the town, though you’re gonna wanna keep going back to this town cause the cowboys are gonna lasso your heart.

The way this book had me sobbing just reading the prologue!

🖤Grumpy Sunshine
🖤Reverse Harem MFMMM
🖤Found Family
🖤PTSD representation
🖤Character death on page (not FMC) car accident
🖤Small Town/Cowboys
🖤Disability representation

The character diversity was absolutely everything, I loved every single one of them for very different reasons.

After a tragic accident, Fable finds her world turned upside down battling PTSD and survivors guilt. Her sister is helping her in ways she could never begin to understand with a birthday trip she had planned for them to go on together. Hot cowboys and time away may be exactly what Fable needs to begin to heal. However, these cowboys are hiding a huge secret of their own that may put Fable at the forefront of danger.

Rhett, Colt, Gunner and Trent are no strangers to tragedy themselves. After struggling to save their ranch after a tragic accident of their own they find themselves in a sticky situation they can’t get themselves out of. Forgetting to take down the ad to be a guest at their ranch may be the biggest blessing in disguise. Did I mention there are also puppies involved! So cute!!

Fable strolls into town and turns their once secluded world upside down! Is it possible for every single one of them to fall in love with her…why yes, yes it is! Including the broodiest cowboy of them all!

The storyline was fantastic and the spice was spicing!! Phew!! I absolutely loved this book, Kendra’s writing is chefs kiss!! If you’re looking for sexy moody cowboys this is the book for you!

Thank you so much Kendra for allowing me to read this pre-release in exchange for my honest review!

A woman so broken by her past finds peace at a month-long retreat on Circle Bee Ranch… a ranch run by four men who can’t resist her.

Fable. I loved her so much. It’s impossible not to be hooked from the prologue. Seeing what she went through and how she claws her way forward. She tries so hard to be happy, uplifting, to live. The mental health rep here shines; it’s heartbreaking and raw, and while I don’t have her exact experience, it tugged hard at my heartstrings. What I adored most was watching her slowly stitch herself back together, heal, and rediscover who she is. She deserves every ounce of happiness she finds.

Now the men… 😮‍💨 oh, am I weak for all of them, but yes... I have a favorite. Did you guess Trent? Ding ding ding, yes sir 🤭

Trent: quiet, no-nonsense, that silent but steady love type. His backstory wrecked me. He must be protected at all costs. His moments with Fable? My absolute favorite.
“Are you a good fit for me?”
“I’m not a good fit for anyone,”
“Why? You seem fine to me.”
“Not everything is honeybees, Fable. Sometimes, they’re just hornets.”

Colt: chaotic, intense, all business. The spice with him had me on my knees (literally in spirit 🧎‍♀️).
“You’re the wild card here, Annie Oakley, and all good things are wild.”

Gunnar: pure sunshine. Sweet, joyful, and a single dad?? His scenes with his daughter melted me, especially the way Fable connected with her.
“You gonna let me take you on a real date, Florida Girl?”
“Is this you asking me officially?”
“Hell yeah, it is,”
“Then my answer is yes.”

Rhett: the shameless flirt. He pissed me off at one point, but he redeemed himself. To me, he’s a mix of Gunner’s warmth and Colt’s edge; carrying heavy burdens but doing his best.
“Every hive needs a queen, Wild West Barbie. And I’ve never seen someone more suited to a crown than you.”

Different as they are, they share one thing: secrets they keep locked down… and the undeniable pull toward Fable. She slipped into each of their hearts before they even realized it.

Once again, this series proves you can have a why-choose romance with actual plot, depth, and heart. It’s not just spice for the sake of spice (though, whew, the spice we get?? 🔥 chef’s kiss). The banter had me cackling, the intimate moments had me swooning, and the soft ones had me clutching my chest. I loved this book. I love this series. I’m straight-up obsessed.

Let me clarify by saying this this fully blew Barbed Wire Hearts out of the water, don’t get me wrong I LOVED BWH but, this story with fable and her men from circle bee ranch? Especially with that prologue?! This book had me crying and then kicking my feet + gasping at what was happening!
This had me hooked from the very beginning.

It had a powerful message of grief and loss and finding new family where you least expected it.

Beautiful story and even more sexier cowboys 🐝🤠❤️ and 4 of them this time!!!

This book has a little bit of everything - it’s emotional and steamy and has some amazing banter! There are also some dark secrets and twists and I loved every minute of it!! It was so good!!!

Fable has never felt like she fit in and after a tragic accident she is really struggling. She has the chance to go to Circle Bee Ranch in Wyoming for a month and meets four cowboys:

Rhett Thomas, the legacy.
Trent Coldiron, the mechanical expert.
Gunnar Hall, the barn manager.
Colt King, the dog handler.

She builds connections with each of them…but they are hiding things from her…

I loved Fable! My heart broke for her and you’ll definitely need some tissues for this book. I loved her connection with Callie and the scenes with her the animals. Fable wasn’t the only one holding on to trauma and we see that play out.

This is the type of book that you won’t be able to put down! There so many layers to each of these characters!

I have so much to say about this book but i don't know if i can find the right words. I think this is incredible. The message behind this book is so powerfull. When you lose someone close to you, who means the world to you, how do you deal with that loss.... My heart broke for Fable, one minute they are having fun and everything is fine and the next.... Grieving is not lineair, healing is not lineair and i think this book is such a perfect representation for that. These characters have all been through different things and dealt with it in different manners but they were there for eachother, trying to ease the pain in even the smallest of ways. And i think that is what makes this book so special.

Oh Fable the woman you are, you are epic in so many ways. I'm so in awe with your strength, your ability to still find kindness and listen to your heart and gut. The men of Circle bee ranch found their perfect Queen in you. She brought out the best in these men, gave them something to fight for again. The guys are all just so delicious in their own ways, how they compliment eachother, their interactions, the petnames, they fight for what they love. I loved the little glimpses into their own lives and losses with how they acted around Fable and her loss. They were there for her in such a beautiful way but very different.

What do i even say about these men other than perfection in their not so perfect ways. I love a why choose because i could like Fable also not choose between these guys. They are the perfect mix. The right mix for Fable. Trent with his little gestures and his broodyness, Gunnar with his Southern charm and respect, Colt's dark possessive side and Retth's playboy charm flirting whenever and wherever he can. Ugh i'mma just say it, i was jealous of Fable.

Little tidbits, the presents made me cry. The uno match made me tingle. The chase through the field made me tingle even more. The animals on the farm and the interactions with them. The car ride home from the boot skoot made my heart race. The cosplaying was everything i never knew i needed. That was just perfect and my smile couldn't get any bigger.

I was very excited to read this book because I loved Barb Wired Hearts and met these guys therr. What I was expecting is the amount of emotions and trying I did from the prologue throughout the whole book. This book hit so differently for me and personally because I was involved in a terrible car wreck and suffer severely from PTSD so I was completely in love with Fable..her heart, her strong will, her vulnerability and her love for others just had me smitten. You don't see a lot of books where the women mc suffers from PTSD.
I will say Trent took the cake for me and I have to protect him at all cost. I mean my goodness, Kendra. I cried so many times.
Rhett was definitely the man of masking, and it took a while, but he finally lowered it for me to fall for that beekeeper.
Gunnar was my sweet cinnamon roll single dad that just always felt a little less dark, which this story needed. And his sweet Callie and her fashion love I just so good.
Then Mr. Colt, I will say that man was so many red flags, but I didn't care. I think alone he would have been a lot, but with the rest of the crew, it helped.lol

They all had their trauma to unburden, and I couldn't put the book down. The banter was so good that the crazy farm animals and names were the best.

This didn't have as much sexy times, but when they did, I was panting.. but once again, trents scene, I had no words.

I love this series. I feel like she definitely is setting up another opening to another book with the way it ended for me, but I will see.

I was absolutely hooked by this storyline from the beginning and loved every bit—not so much the sad bit. 😂

Fable is an amazing character who has had some devastating experiences impacting her life. Although Jinx doesn’t become a major player in the story, she sort of does. 🤷🏻‍♀️ You just have to read this story to understand, but Jinx definitely deserves a mention, as she has such a bubbly, dynamic personality. As the story progresses, Fable’s character profile builds up, and I enjoy her even more.

The four men of The Circle Bee Ranch are all vastly different, but all close friends and strive to make Rhett’s family ranch stay afloat. Colt is very controlling and demanding yet can be understanding and caring, too. Gunnar is the softest of the four friends and, along with his young daughter, helps to make it a family affair. Callie, his daughter, is a sweetheart with quite a bit of pizzazz. Trent is a gentle giant of a man with few words, yet he sees and hears everything. I think he might be my favourite of the guys. Then there’s Rhett, who’s a flirty, fun guy.

From the beginning, there is a mystery that readers can only guess about. It’s not rocket science, but what actually happened took me by surprise, that’s for sure. The action heats up in a huge way, making it an exciting yet slightly terrifying situation.

This is the first book by this author that I have read but it definitely won’t be the last, I loved it.

Following the story Fable this book takes you through a lot of emotions! It starts off with a traumatic event so do check your TWs, and it evolves into a story about a woman finding herself and figuring out what she actually wants from life 😄 it’s just so happens on a ranch with four men who have lost their way a little over the years! There’s Gunnar the effervescent puppy who still has a heart of gold; Rhett the playboy smiler hiding a wealth of turbulence underneath his charming exterior; Colt who has a “couldn’t care less attitude” but is more in touch with his feelings than any of the men; and lastly there is Trent the standoffish mountain of a man with a hardened heart but so much to give 🥰 Fable has different connections with each of these men and together they work, although there’s plenty of ups and downs along the way…including some from outside influences 😬 thankfully this found family pull together 😍 a heartwarming read in honey bee hearts!

Fable is a spirited, excentric person, which she loses when she loses her best friend/sister/only family she had, in a tragic accident that also takes her leg. After months of recovering, she gets a surprise birthday present from her lost friend, a whole month at Honey Bee Ranch. A vacation that was supposed to be for both of them. She decides to go and meets the men of Honey Bee. Rhett Thomas, Trent Coldiron, Gunnar Hall, and Colt King. Slowly as her month winds down she finds that these men, this place, are bringing her new life, something she never thought she would have again, only they have a huge secret they are keeping from her...
SO heart breaking at the beginning, but from the start when she meets each of the men, they all seem to know what she needs and gives it to her. They heal her and make her whole again and she does the same for them. Of course, it's not that cut and dry, the guys have secrets that keep them from fully opening up at first and there are some dangers that stand in their way, but in the end these five get their HEA.

When I saw this book, I read the tropes and then went in blind and I am so glad I did. From the very beginning I loved Fable and Jinx and then loved Fable even harder. I think this showed a side of grief that you don't see often and how sometimes clinically you're made to feel or be one thing but you're actually dealing with everything in your own way. I think the MMCs were so fun and perfect for Fable. They each brought out something different in her and helped her in a way that the others couldn't. Sometimes having multiple men with all different experiences can be helpful. I think if I had to have a favorite it would have to be Colt. Like ok dog collar, and just his aura in general was so good but also Trent really surprised me in a way I really liked. The only thing I would want more of was more girl talking between Kate, Naomi, and Fable. I think Fable needed to find her new self as well as get some new friends, obviously not to erase or replace Jinx but there is a ton of testosterone on that farm and the only other girl can't be a child.

3.5 rounding up to a 4! I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as Barbed Wire Hearts, but I still finished it within a day lol. My one complaint is I wish there was a little more character growth for the 4 men.

Trent was definitely my fav in this one!! I love a quiet, broody, almost 7 foot tall man 😂 I thought it was going to be Rhett, but he needed to grovel more after being such a jackass to Fable. The "honey play" was really hot though 😮‍💨 so he has that going for him lolol.

Fable was unapologetically herself and I liked that about her. She wore her quirky handmade outfits and didn't care what anyone thought and was overall a really lovable character.

Can't wait for more in this series!
And can we get a Lennox book?? 👀 PLEASE

This book starts with a tear-jerker moment that has you hooked on Fable’s story. When she arrives at Circle Bee Ranch, Fable finds herself in the middle of four sexy cowboys and their animal sidekicks. The animals that go with each MMC matched their personality perfectly and I loved how Fable found herself with a sidekick.

The men at Circle Bee Ranch are all so different with Fable but the connection is strong and steamy. The way these men find something special with Fable has you loving them for who they are and their past. Fable can find herself again with the help of the ranch and the men who own it. This book is a must-read if you love some sexy cowboys with dirty mouths and a secret worth revealing.

Absolutely obsessed with Fable the fmc and the whole gang with their paired animals! This dark cowboy romance touched a lot on grief and found family and I adored every moment of it. Each of the mmc’s were so unique and helped her each in their own way! The books length was perfect in my opinion and had the cutest ending! I loved the aspect of Fables handmade outfits as well and how she wasn’t afraid to be herself!

Fable: the queen bee
Gunnar: single dad/Ferrier
Trent: blacksmith
Colt: ex cop
Rhett: beekeeper

Sure these all seem so sweet but… they all have their secrets.

When I picked up this dark romance why choose, the LAST thing I expected was for me to start the book ugly crying! And the tear jerkers didn’t stop at chapter one either 😭. This book is so beautifully written. All the characters truly came to life. I love that the main character had a prosthetic. However I don’t feel like the movement in some of the things she was doing (especially only months post surgery) were realistic (And yes I know this a book but just something that stood out to me).

The spice is intense so make sure you read the trigger warnings if that’s something you might not be a fan of.

Fables story was very sweet and showed how people can move through grief and navigate life after loss. However, I will say I am a little sad there was not more character growth with the 4 men in this story. I feel that some things could have been explained better if little tidbits were cut out. The way Rhett treated her after their time together really put me off from his character. I get that Colt and Rhett were the grey characters but the way they were portrayed really killed the story for me. Trent saved the day with his silent vibes. Gunner still is on the fence for me. I wanted to love him but again character build.

I don't think i will ever get tired of this series! When i started reading Honey bee Hearts I a expected dark why choose cowboy romance like we got in book 1. This was dark like book one in the way that our cowboys are definitely keeping secrets and have a grey past, but this book was also dark in such an emotionally heartbreaking way as well.

The Emotional stages our fmc Fable goes through, dealing with her PTSD and coming to terms with a great loss felt so felt so authentic and reading about her journey to finding herself again in the aftermath was so cathartic.

I absolutely loved Cole, Rhett, Gunner, and Trent! These men and this series have lassoed my heart!

I absolutely fell in love with Honey Bee Hearts—it's a book that gripped me from the start and stayed with me long after I turned the last page. Fable’s journey, both physically and emotionally, is one of the most poignant and powerful ones I’ve read in a while. As she recovers from a devastating car accident, the healing process feels raw, real, and deeply moving. What makes it even more special is the way Fable’s resilience shines through despite the heavy weight of her trauma.

Fable is a complex character: tough on the outside, yet vulnerable and full of heart on the inside. The way she faces her PTSD with both courage and vulnerability is one of the most authentic portrayals of trauma and recovery I’ve encountered. As Fable opens up to the men of Circle Bee Ranch, you see her strength in new ways. And yes, I truly cried more than once—it’s impossible not to feel her pain, her growth, and her triumphs.

The men of Circle Bee Ranch... wow, just wow. Each of the four guys—Trent, Rhett, Gunnar, and Colt—adds a different layer to the story, making Fable’s trauma recovery all the richer. Trent, with his quiet intensity and unwavering loyalty, absolutely stole my heart. (And I can't even talk about the Titanic scene or I'll be a basket case all over again!) He’s the kind of hero who doesn’t need to speak much to make an impact. Rhett, the charming beekeeper, was a little harder for me to warm up to, but once I did, I was just as captivated by his playful side. Gunnar, the soft-spoken single dad, brought a tenderness that balanced out the darker moments. And Colt... well, he’s a walking red flag wrapped in irresistible charm—and I was soooo here for it! The dynamics between these four men are complex, and watching them support Fable in their own unique ways is both heartwarming and heartbreaking.

What truly makes Honey Bee Hearts shine is the emotional depth of the relationships. The men don’t just bring the steam (though there’s plenty of that!), they bring emotional support, vulnerability, and sometimes even challenges that help Fable grow. Their chemistry is off the charts, but it's the small moments of tenderness, the quiet gestures of care, and the way they each challenge Fable to heal and move forward that made this story unforgettable.

Kendra Monero has created a world that feels both familiar and fresh. The small-town ranch setting is full of charm, and the animals—each with their quirky names and personalities—add so much warmth and humor. I was completely caught up in Fable’s journey, but it’s the little details, like the guys’ thoughtful surprises and the unpredictable twists in the plot, that kept me hooked until the very end.

If you’re looking for a book that’s not just about romance but about healing, resilience, and the power of connection, then Honey Bee Hearts is a must-read. It’s emotional, it’s steamy, and it’s full of characters you’ll never forget. I can’t wait for more from this series—it’s a world I’m not ready to leave just yet.

I don’t think I will ever be over this book! It’s giving me credence vibes but instead of the men being family, they were fucking ripped sexy cowboys 🤣 The FMC had a traumatic past that led to her ending up at the ranch and the boys didn’t know what they were getting into when she showed up. She was quite literally the wild card they never knew they needed. It didn’t have a TON of spice like some of my usual reads - I don’t think anything happened spicy wise for like 230 pages but the suspense made it that much better; like built up sexual tension for fable and us readers 😅🤣🤭 I loved the fact that the main focus was the plot and the attention to detail! Also, @kendramorenoauthor humor is top tier and it just added that little extra something to the read that really appealed to me. I mean, anyone that comes up with chicken names like hen solo, cluck Norris, mother clucker, eggbert, and Amelia egg-hart is my kinda people 😂 all in all, I loved this book so much and I hope there is more to come of this green river hearts series!

Honey Bee Hearts by Kendra Moreno is NOW LIVE! Get ready for a heart-racing ride in Book 2 of the Green River Hearts series!

Blurb

Never trust a survivor. .

I was intrigued to pick this up because it is a dark cowboy romance and there is disability rep with the heroine.

TW: mention of suicide, parent with drug addiction, family passing away in car accident,

Fable Everheart (not her real name) is into LARPing and costume design. She attends reinvests frequently with her best friend and sister from another mother, Jinx. They ar found family as her mother is a drug addict and she has not heard from her for a while. A semi truck crashes into their ride share not eh way home from a Renfest and Jinx is killed instantly whilst Fable survives but loses her leg.

Months later and after rehab as well as therapy, Fable still sees Jinx and Jinx speaks to her, she has stopped the drugs that the psychiatrist has prescribed to her as she does not like how it makes her feel. She receives a surprise in the mail before her birthday and realises that Jinx booked them a one month stay at the Circle Bee Ranch in Wyoming. She is unsure if she should go but decides to.

She meets a group of cowboys who are different in their own way: Gunner who is a sweet single father and African American, Rhett a redhead and the owner of the ranch, Trent a stoic half Native American and half Caucasian mechanic and blacksmith and Colt, an ex police officer who seems very dark. The men and the people who live on the ranch slowly help her to heal and feel better. She starts to design and make costumes again such as her Annie Oakley, Wild West Barbie and space cowgirl looks.

It sounded very fun to be on a ranch as she rides horses, interacts with animals and gets a dog companion, Jethro. Rhett shows her his honeybees and Trent lets her accompany him when he is working on metal. She is unsure whether she could be in love with them so quickly.

The four of them fall for her and want her to stay but are keeping a dangerous secret from her. I know this was supposed to be a dark cowboy romance but the drug part felt unnecessary, I thought the dark part was more about the why choose and that some of the men have unique taste I was surprised that Colt turns out to be the one who convinces the rest to ask her to stay and tell her that they love her with him being the instigator and the baddie of the four. I feel that why choose need to be clear in terms of differentiating the partners otherwise they can blend together. I thought the author did well to differentiate them.

I liked that Jinx encourages her and felt like a real ghost but Fable knows she is a hallucination from the PTSD. The men help her through some tough episodes of panic attacks

Tropes: Why choose, hurt comfort, found family

Representation:
- Fable is plus sized
- Fable is an amputee and wears a prosthetic leg
- Trent is half Native American, half caucasian
- Gunner is African american

“HONEY BEE HEARTS” KENDRA MORENO ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5

Almeno a me è successo così.

Ho apprezzato tantissimo la scrittura della Moreno ancora una volta, e non vedo l’ora di continuare a esplorare questo universo, attendo una storia in particolare con molta trepidazione.
